Well, you've read the notes, the notes were at 73%, and now it is time for you to post until the 73% cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: APPRECIATIVE!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
And now, 75%!!
-
;)
-
George got the BEST thing! I was hoping someone would take it - it's really fantastic. And hoo and ray for 75%! And a nice start to the day - someone else grabbed the two Guy Haines CDs. :)
-
Cool! And they'll go nicely with Harvey Schmidt's Colette Collage artwork that I got from a previous Indiegogo campaign.
-
What did you get , George?
-
I got a broken tooth
-
So I am unhappy
-
Let's have no more broken teeth!
-
Vixmom, do check out the latest CDs as there may be stuff you don't have - which tooth, BTW?

Just picked up two perks! I really wanted that A Little Night Music cd but it was long gone before I even saw the post

The 4th tooth on the top left
-
Unfortunately that’s in the side of my face that took the most effects from the radiation treatment
-
I’ve lost almost all the teeth on that side of my face
-
I had been hoping to get implants to replace them but was advised my jaw didn’t hav3 sufficient bone mass to support them
-
So I will be a toothless crone at sometime in the near future
-
BK I’ve been “sharing” your indiegogo posts when I see them, does that help?
-
Good morning, all!
-
Such a morning I've had. Oy! I slept poorly, because IO nw have terrible shoulder pains which I suspect are from bursitis. Then, after I fed the cats, and Annabelle wouldn't eat. Then Thatch threw up all of his breakfast in two different locations, so I had to get the Fantastik and paper towels and take care of that. I finally got my coffee and discovered a delightful e-card from our DR TCB that cheered me right up and put me back into my "ease into the day" mood as I fought off Thatch and Stella for my blueberry muffin.
-
This morning, I must finally do the postponed vacuuming.
-
Last week I watched the 9-hour Royal Shakespeare company of Nicholas Nickleby, which I wish I'd seen live but in 1982 I couldn't afford a $100 ticket. I've seen the video three times in the past 40 years and it still amazes me. The incidental music by Stephen Oliver, who died from AIDS, is really wonderfdul and enhances the production.
BK, did you see this when it played in LA before moving to New Yotk?
-
What did you get , George?
I got the Original Harvey Schmidt Art: 12 Red D’s:

I love that production, too! I've only seen it once all the way through, though.
-
I actually bought the songbook (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004L5QMKC/) back when I was in college. I happened to show it to Dr. Scandrett, the head of the music department. He liked that arrangement of "God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen" so much that he had the University Choir sing it one year. :)
-
Good morning, all.
-
Congratulations, George.
-
Two!
-
Tooth vibes for Vixmom.
-
Must get ready for the trek to work.
-
DR JohnG, I've read two books on Ravel, both of which I enjoyed. The first was the Orenstein bio, which was published by Dover. I read it in college when I knew next to nothing about Ravel. I wish I still had it; I'd love to read it again now that I know the compoer's music better.
The second was the Nichols book, which I've only bropwsed through since I purchased it in 2019. I don't know how I missed Benjamin Ivry's book when it was published, but after reading the Amazon reviews, I will look for a copy.
-
DR vixmom, I'm so sorry about your tooth Are you sereing a dentist today?
I love you so much, but I woulld swear you gallop into more catastrophes than Candide and his crew!
-
DR George, that's a neat story about Oliver's arrangement of the carol. The wedding anthem in the production has become a hymn:

-
Congratulations, George.
Thanks, John!
-
In other news
I ordered a CD from an indie band in Texas, I received notification that the label was created on June 8.
-
The band advised it was brought to the post office that same day but USPS didn’t acknowledge receipt until June 25 with expected delivery on July 1

Love you too!
I prefer to think of them as adventures!
-
Dentist opens at 9 so hopefully I can get in , I’ll call from work
-
Good morning to everyone.
-
I am planning to buy one more perk, but just in case something else comes up that’s really interesting I will wait till the last day
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Three, by the way.
-
So many great items being offered up in this Indiegogo campaign!

DR VIXMOM I will let you know if your CD shows up in Indiana.

I sure wish I could say I saw it then, but I didn’t, either. I well remember when it was playing — at the Mark Taper, right? I had just moved to Redondo Beach... Ah, the memories...
DR Elmore, is it available on home video, or did you say you were watching a tape you’d made?
Edit: Yep, released on VHS / LD / DVD.
-
Vixmom, sorry to hear about your latest... um, adventure. Yeah, that’s it.
I hope the dentist can fix you up good.
-
I just want to say, I really enjoyed the Prologue, and I look forward to settling into Act I one of these days soon. I have been getting myself in shape for the marathon telling of the tale.
I refer, of course, not to Nicholas Nickleby, but to the IKEA story.
-
;D
-
:)
-
Thanks, Elmore. The library has the Nichols bio of Ravel. I’ll check it out.
-
DR VIXMOM I will let you know if your CD shows up in Indiana.
That CD is traveling more than KevinH!
-
:)
The feral kitty in my backyard looks like the one in the lower right corner.
-
Had a weird night of sleeplessness. I think the coffee ice cream had some caffeine in it.
-
I had dreams of swimming, inspired by reading Young Mungo. But I specifically recall someone telling me that if I really wanted to swim, I had to get into the water.
-
Tonight is the dinner for volunteers at the theater I usher in. They wanted everyone to wear white. No.
-
Dentist can't see me until 2:15 tomorrow
-
2:15 a.m.?
-
That’s some dedicated dentist.
-
Vixmom, sorry to hear about your tooth.
Hope it can be repaired painlessly.
Is your sore throat better?
Better yet, gone?
-
“In transit, arriving late”
4 words that I dread. Does not bode well.
Nice title for a book or short story, however.
-
George, congrats on the acquisition of the Harvey Schmidt piece of artwork!

I bought my set several years ago from Amazon, I believe. It was a 4-DVD set from A&, and it's now OOP. Amazon is still selling it. You might do better on eBay or Region 2 Amazon.co.uk.

I found mine in a Half Price Books clearance bin for $2 a disc. Still had the box.

-
George, congrats on the acquisition of the Harvey Schmidt piece of artwork!
Thanks, Iris...it was just a matter of deciding to get it before anyone else did. ;)
-
Oh, look! It's Page FOUR at 8:50 a.m. PDT!

45 minutes to vacuum my small space! At least it's done.

I'm just here for the treats.
-
So, George, how is the new car?
-
Too many meetings.
-
Gratuitous post 99!
-
76%!
-
What mischievous package this must be!
Although I was "reliably" informed it had left Memphis Tennessee last night at 9:19 pm, it snuck back in when no one was looking and was caught departing again at 11:35 this morning
-
Please do remind me to send the head of the post office a letter of congratulations for all his "improvements"
-
Perhaps if I send it to him by overnight priority post it will arrive before the end of the decade
-
Which reminds me, I mailed a package to the Vixter on Saturday selecting 2 day priority mail as the means of travel
-
I was advised it should arrive by Friday
-
I said to the desk clerk, " I thought 2 day priority post meant it would be delivered in 2 days"
-
She replied, "It used to"
-
Well, II spent the morning working about the apartment in my boxers. When I went to put on my pants, I found them occupied.
-
I'm just here for the treats.
OMG! It's Thatch.
-
Thank you George.
-
Thank you Iris.
-
DR Iris my shoulder issue is chronic. In 2009 a big dog knocked me down and broke my shoulder in 4 places. Two of the breaks were repaired. The other two could not be fixed and required the ball of my shoulder to be replaced.
-
My surgeon was great and I have more flexibility than most after this kind of surgery, and as expected constant pain.
-
I have to be careful as I would hate to have to repeat the surgery. People who have full shoulder replacements have less pain than I have.
-
I got a broken tooth
:(
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe six hours of sleep.
-
So I am unhappy
I am sorry.
-
Too many disasters, postal and otherwise, today.
But some good Thatch pictures! :)
-
:)
The feral kitty in my backyard looks like the one in the lower right corner.
Wow, a feral seal point!
-
78%!!! Only 2% to hit today's goal of 80%. It's still amazing to me that someone took the first Lost in Boston painting for 400 and that only boosted us two percent. Crazy. Lots of little items so far - several CDs, plus the painting that JUST went.
-
Dentist can't see me until 2:15 tomorrow
I hope you aren't in pain
-
Vibes the dentist can repair the tooth

But often 3 days.
-
Vixmom, yes, sharing is fantastic.
-
Too many meetings.
Almost a Sondheim reference.
-
I just saw a recipe online for raspberry curd, and now I can't think of anything else.
-
Adorable photos of Tatch.
-
Indiegogo is a go-going!
-
I've got tu go disco.
-
But nobody would want to see that.
-
And on Broadway, no one did.
-
Tooth vibes for DR VIXMOM.
-
I shall be off in a bit for one last run thru before we open tomorrow night!
-
But some good Thatch pictures! :)
He has a knack -one that Annabelle and Stella don't particularly have - to be adorably cute without even trying.
-
So, George, how is the new car?
It's still new. ;)
-
Because I have a fob and no key, I have forgotten to lock my car a couple of times! :o I can't keep doing that!
-
Too many meetings.
Wasted in pretending to care
At all.
-
;D
-
76%!

I did that at first.

Wednesday evening greetings from HOME! Y’all might have surmised that Richard and I have been in Wheaton, Illinois, the past week and a half, but I didn’t want to come right out and say it. We went up to help Mary Linda when Rob went back to work last Tuesday. We were prepared to stay through this week, but she’s doing very well and, I think, is ready for some solitude with Hannah.
-
When you ask at the garden center for something that says "get off my lawn!"
-
79%!!! Just put up a very rare Varese Sarabande Red Box limited edition - 12 soundtracks that had never been on CD, in one box, with mini-LP covers - very cool and much cheaper than any online copies, which are going for big bucks. This is basically what it cost when it came out - but it was a quick sellout.
-
Also put up my fourth set of the Guy Haines CDs. They're proving to be popular with the populace.
-
And the fourth set went in about twenty seconds!
-
;)
-
Good one, Larry! 😂
-
Jane, thank you for taking the time to fill me in on your shoulder situation.
I’m so sorry that you are dealing with chronic pain.
I love dogs, but I tend to avoid large breeds with lots of energy, as I’ve had several jump up on me and have knocked me down.

It's called "workin' the system."

Good night, friends.

Still hoping we can get to 80% by the end of the evening - just one percent is all.

Good night from me, as well.
Up earlier than usual in the morning. I have physical therapy at VA in Augusta GA at 10 a.m.
-
I do believe I see 80%.
-
Hoo and Ray!!
-
Yes! 80%. And now, onwards to 90%. What we're gonna need to happen is a big last few days, but I believe we can DO this.
-
Tonight was the dinner for the Tobin volunteers, and it was a fun event. They had roast beef and roast pork loin, both fine with some horseradish sauce. Desserts included some macarons, which I love. And these were light and fine. There were other desserts, such as cheesecake and carrot cake, but I didn't indulge.
-
When we checked in, we were given a medal based on the number of shows we've worked. I have hit 299, so I was in the gold medal range. (Friday will make it a flat 300.)
On leaving, we were given a DVD of Ballet Folklorico de Mexico, which I had wanted to usher but was out of town. They also gave us a gimme cap with the theater's logo on it and a goodie bag, which is supposedly temperature controlled. Perfect for these 105-degree days.
-
This is the first time since the pandemic that they've honored the volunteers with a dinner. Apparently, they're going to do another during the Christmas season, which means no potluck (thankfully).
-
I've started listening to Delia Ephron read her memoir, Left on Tenth. It's moving. I'm surprised. I was thinking it would be funny. But it deals with death, cancer and other not-laugh-out-loud topics, and in a way that works. It also helps that she does the reading.
-
Good night, all.
