Well, you've read the notes, the notes were 125% as headed into the last forty-eight hours, and now it is time for you to post until the 125% forty-eight hour cows come home.

And the word of the day is: VOLTAIC!

Good early morning to everyone. Hope everybody has a great day

Good morning, all!

And it's Wednesday. I slept rather well last night. The hearings yewsterday had me all riled up, so I spent the night listening to talking heads discuss the hearings. I Valways learn more about something I didn't get or missed, so I feel quite informed now.
-
Yesterday, the State's Human Rights Administration phoned to tell me that today, between 1:30 and 5:30, I will have my phone hearing.
-
Yesterday, around 12:30, my brother Randy called to tell me that our prospective property purchasers will have their showdown with hte City of Middletown about this required retaiuning pond and wall next week. He said the buyers really want the property, and I asked why the fucking city ewouldn't ut the wall and pond on their property next to ours. I do fear thar if we sued the city for preventing us from selling, that we'd end up in an endless suit like Jarndyce v Jarndyce..
-
DR JohnG, happy birthday to youtr mama!

Slept mostly okay.

I received an email this morning from one of the members of that indie band that mailed me a cd in June 6 from the far off foreign land of Texas, which cd has apparently been on an extensive world wind tour of the States, to tell me that the USPS advised him, it was to be delivered today.
-
We’ll see.

Property selling vibes for DR ELMORE.
A-men!
-
Good morning, all and one.
-
Slept very well. Waking up is getting rather hard to do, old as I am.
-
I made it to Wednesday, July 13th.
Imagine that!
I hope all of us made it to today!
-
I managed Wordle in four this morning.
Some days I'm hot, and other days I'm not.

Is anyone else here watching, keeping up with, the Hulu program "Only Murders in the Building"?
It's quite quirky and good fun. Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez are the three stars/producers.
Nathan Lane is in a recurring role. Jane Lynch was also an amusing addition and she, along with others, has been Emmy-nominated for her role. An actor named James Caverly plays Theo, son of Nathan Lane's Teddy Dimas. Caverly is deaf, as is his character, but he's extremely good as the son.
It airs every Tuesday, but one can see all the episodes up to this week's on Hulu.

Waking up is getting rather hard to do
Many people don't know that this was Neil Sedaka's first draft title.
-
My, that's quite a collection of "comforts."
-
HOW could they ever have gone out of business?

At least they spelled paraphernalia correctly.

Real estate vibes for DR Elmore!

Every time I see Golan-Globus, I immediately think of gamma globulin.
And when I think of gamma globulin, I immediately think of my boss in 1977-1980 who was the first person I ever heard say it. In fact, he's also the last person I've heard say it.
I believe he or someone he knew had just been given an injection of it to help get over something quickly, which seemed to have worked. But I haven't heard of it since.
Does anyone ... still use ... gamma globulin?
-
I don't know, DR ChasSmith, but it brings to mind Menotti's opera Help, Help, the Globolinks.

I'm waiting for the HRA phone call.
This morning my new cable box arrived, and Jen and ann casme down to set it up. I've got a nice picture and the DVD player is happily running as well.
-
The HRA Appeal phone call lasted less than fiuve minutes and was one of the stupidest and most inane situations I have ever encountered. I felt I had scarcely begun my app[eal whjen they said, thank you, and hung up.
-
I'm up, I'm up - about six and a half hours of sleep.
-
No action yet, but a query from someone about an item, so if he comes in that's something.
-
So, must cheerlead and put up a couple of new perky perks.
-
My, that's quite a collection of "comforts."

Congrats on reaching 125%, BK!

125%, congrats!

New perky perks have been added - including two signed items from Edward Albee - all VERY reasonable - I mean VERY reasonable, so check 'em out. Also a couple more CDs and a couple of first edition hardcover plays - if there's interest in those I have many I can list.

I wonder if anyone has ever created a swatter sweater?

Just added the long out of print CD of Subways Are for Sleeping.

I don't know if you all remember the chronic bathroom leak problems that we had for about a year from the bathroom in the unit above ours back at the beginning of the pandemic.
Well, today we discovered a damp carpet, water stains, and black mold in the bedroom around the cooling unit. We suspect also from above. I anticipate another big ordeal. This time, it will probably mean opening up the wall.
I am not a happy camper.
At least it's not hot at the moment. But I suspect it will be before this is fixed.
-
Groan. I can appreciate your frustration.
-
Vibes it isn't too hot when you have to deal with the repairs.
-
DR John did you do anything extra special today?
-
Of course, just being with your mother is all that really matters.
-
Leave it to Subways Are for Sleeping to take us to 126%!
-
Has anyone read The Girl in His Shadow? It’s our library’s latest big read.

I saw that today. Everyone can check it out from if you use Overdrive. I didn't check it out though it looks interesting.
-
John, do you plan to read it?

Oh no! I’m sorry
-
To recap
-
John, do you plan to read it?
Haven’t decided. I’ve got four books to listen to. I’m three hours into The White Tiger, which I like, though the main character isn’t likable.
-
On June 8th, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty two, a little indie band in Austin Texas dropped a package, addressed to moi, at their local post office
-
There it languished until June 25th, at which time the staff deigned to notice its existence and scanned its bar code
-
The birthday girl in her tiara.
-
They even went so far as to send me an email promising delivery on July 1st
-
There it languished until June 25th, at which time the staff deigned to notice its existence and scanned its bar code
Go on.
-
The birthday girl in her tiara.
She looks lovely. I hope she had a wonderful day. She must have been so pleased to see you
-
Our tiny package braved the roads and made its way to the fabled land of New Jersey.
-
Just across the river from the state of New York
-
But the river is wide, the river is deep, the river is scary
-
And the little package in terror fled the North for the security of the South, where it had been born, settling in Atlanta , Georgia
-
But Atlanta is too close to the Eastern seaboard, and the little package had been birthed in a state far from oceans
-
So it ran to Tennessee, no doubt planning to find its way back to Texas
-
But the staff in Tennessee caught the little package attempting to board a truck for Texas and scanned it, and told it it must go to New York that night!
-
But unbeknownst to the postal workers, the package was crafty and slipped away, and hid for the night
-
Alas, come the light of day, the sleeping package was discovered, and despite its protests it was scanned once again and firmly escorted from the Tennessee station
-
For several days there was silence
-
No sign of our intrepid traveler to be found
-
But then, suddenly, it was spotted!!
-
Once again the little package had arrived in the world renown state of Jersey( the New one, not the place in England)
-
Once again it was scanned
-
Once again emails were sent claiming the package would arrive in New York within hours
-
The United States Post Office went so far as to send me an email claiming the package would be delivered, along with a bill, an advertisement, a begging letter and the local free advertising newspaper, to my very own mailbox, this very day!
-
Then
-
At 2:26 pm
-
Eastern standard time
-
My cell phone vibrated
-
These words appeared on my screen
-
“Delivered to Agent for Final Delivery”
-
Who was this “Agent”?
-
What happened to my mailman?
-
Why all the ominous capitalization?
-
This brings us to now
-
Despite the best efforts of the United States Post Office
-
Despite all the “improvements” wrought be the appointee of he whose name I will not willingly utter
-
Despite scans
-
Despite tracking numbers
-
Despite emails
-
Despite promised delivery dates
-
The little package
-
Is no more
-
Homeless
-
It has arrived
-
And
-
Even more surprisingly
-
OMG, DR vixmom!
-
And
And?
-
In one piece
-
But what about the eye-talian?
-
The end
-
But what about the eye-talian?
:D
-
That was truly a rip-roarin', edge-of-your-seat, barn-burner of a story.
-
I hope you like the CD as much as we liked the odyssey of said CD.
-
And I, for one, am so very glad to have partaken.
-
So, what’s the name of the group?
-
DR vixmom, you really do consistently make me laugh.
-
Dare I say it, out loud.
-
126% is nothing to sneeze at.
-
I am taking Mom to see a local outdoor production of The Sound of Music on Friday.
-
It's the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.
-
I really like the tiarra.
-
Thank you Singdaw
-
Outdoors? I hope you don't melt in the heat, DR John G.
-
That means I will miss Richard III at the local Shakespeare in the Park. I hope to see their Twelfth Night on Saturday.
-
The band is called Under the Rug
-
I really like the tiarra.
You can wear it on your birthday.
-
Outdoors? I hope you don't melt in the heat, DR John G.
It’s only 90 here, not 105.

Six!

That is very kind of you, John
-
;D
-
Snug as a bug under the rug.
-
My sister Annaliese, her son Herman and his SO, Magenta, came in for lunch today.
-
Or something to that effect.
-
Twelfth Night is one of my favorites if it’s done well

It’s only 90 here, not 105.
So you’ll be taking a sweater
-
We treated Mom to Chinese, which she enjoyed.
-
Twelfth Night is one of my favorites if it’s done well
It’s one of my favorites, too, which is why I chose to see it even if I have never seen Richard III live.
-
I never haz seen snow.
-
We did a FaceTime call with my sister Brigitte in Germany. Mom’s brother and her niece Monika also called.
-
Or Richard III, either, I don't think.
-
Mom got a roomful of flowers from various people.
-
I am soon to bed.
-
That's nice, DR John G.
-
I hope the damp ceiling won't collapse upon me in the middle of the night.
-
But there's always hope.
-
She was also celebrated at her living center.
-
And soap. There's also soap.
-
Then we went out to dinner followed by ice cream.
-
And soup.
-
And soap. There's also soap.
Mom got some soap today, too.
-
But never the twain shall meet.
-
And soup for dinner.
-
It sounds like it's a fine fettle of a celebration, all the way around.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Soapy soup. Second cousin of Soupy Sales.
-
One more.
-
Ah. Seven!
-
Good night, Singdaw.
-
After the ice cream, Mom and I took a drove down to the river. I marvel at all the tree-lined neighborhoods there are here. Richly verdant. Shady and beautiful.
-
Jennifer Lawrence’s mother supposedly lives in the area we drove through.
-

Nice! Hope you both enjoy the show!

If anyone's interested, here's a video for the title song from the new musical version of Some Like It Hot (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSXBXXinMGQ), that'll have a score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

That would've been cool!

It was one of the most glorious days of theatre I’ve ever had to good fortune to enjoy
-
I loathe that Some Like it Hot thing - it's so typical of that composer - all pastiche all the time. But now we know what a musical version of Some Like it Hot would have sounded like had it been written by Cahn and Van Heusen. Unfortunately, wrong time period. I've had it with this pastiche crap, frankly. You find none of that in the Sugar score by Styne and Merrill, whatever you think about it. It's also something I purposely avoided in The Brain from Planet X - anything that sounded like 1950s rock-and-roll, which every other sci-fi musical spoof set in the 1950s has done. I had one song like that in the show originally - the original Rod and Donna song - but after our staged reading I took it right out and wrote Good Girl/Bad Girl. And that's why the score and show works.
-
Another delivery story from vixmom, and she is going to pass me on posts
-
My sister Annaliese, her son Herman and his SO, Magenta, came in for lunch today.
Herman’s SO = significant other?
Social outcast?
Sorrowful orphan?
Slightly offensive?
Am I getting close?
-
