I slept rather well. Annabelle's being peevish this morning, which bothers me. My initial reaction is that she's trying to force me to agree to her choice of breakfast. When she pulls this, I fee4d the other two and hope she'll realize she's lost the battle and eat her breafast before Stella and Thatch  gobble it up.

This is not a day I'm looking forward to. I need to do laundry this morning, and I'm hoping the laundry room is accessible. Yesterday morning a crew was working on painting and cleaning it up.

I dreamt I was on a family trip to New York. There were many people in my family and they ignored me. They went off to church and left me sleeping. The other people staying in the same apartment treated me more kindly. I went out for a long walk by myself, which I enjoyed. I also encountered another woman from the apartment who led me back because I had forgotten the address.

I slept very well last night and this morning.  Got about 11 hours of sleep, actually.

Dreamed many dreams, but one was puzzling!

I was in my former work building and got in an elevator to go home.  Oddly, two of the elevators were working and one was marked "Out of Order".   The elevator I got in didn't move when I pushed the button for ground floor.

The door opened and someone else got in.  We got nowhere.  We both pushed buttons and waited and used the phone to call for service.

The door opened and we were still on the same floor.  We pushed for another elevator and the second elevator opened.  I went in and the door shut behind me rather quickly.  I heard the other person outside asking me to please open the door for him.

There were no buttons in this elevator and no phone.  I was trapped!

I awakened in a sweat.  My first thought was why didn't I just take the stairs!

My last name is spelled Earles - but it is pronounced Erls.

Six letters, three vowels and three consonants.  Mostly it is first pronounced as if I have no hearing appendages....but there have been a few interesting tries at pronunciation.

Just as a prelude to saying if all five of us were to become The Earles Brothers - it would seem as if we were a bunch of guys with no lobes.

Last night, I discovered on YouTube a 1941 short by director Jean Negulesco, a 20 minute adaptation of the ballet Gaite Parisienne, based on music by Offenbach, entitled The Gay Parisian. For balletomanes it's interesting to see many stars of the 1930s-early 40s Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo, but as a ballet film it's a disaster. Negulesco keeps the camera moving all over thew set, he doesn't seem to care that much of the choreography involves the legs and feet, and for what purpose at Warner Brtothers did he decide to make it.

For me the most wonderful part was seeing all these ballet stars, like eye-popping Leonide Massine, who choreographed and starred inGaite Parisienne. Frederic Franklin, who was the Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo's romantic dancing lead is a million times more handsome than any photograph I've ever seen of him. My friend Carmon DeLeone worked with him at the Cincinnati Ballet. If nothing else, it's worth seeing for the humor and the fantastic can-can sequence.

Today I finished a book I really did not enjoy: Amerika: The Missing Person by Franz Kafka. He had wanted it burned by his death, and, well, maybe his wishes should have been honored. This was a not-entertaining spoof of Horatio Alger novels. Depressing from start to finish.

Well, it's been a day.

The best part of the day was my weekly Zoom chat with other film music and film lovers.  The talk isn't always about film-related stuff, though.  Sometimes it's esoteric about ballet or symphonies or British TV or politics, here and abroad.

Today, we discussed films or TV shows we each may have been in.

Quite a few of us have been an extra, or more than an extra, in some film project or other.

My claim to fame (not really) is an appearance in the movie "F.I.S.T."   It's not a clear image of me, but I know it's me.  And I appear in a freeze frame where I am directly over Sylvester Stallone's right shoulder.

Ah, the infamy!

I was paid for my work, too.

$25.

Last night, I watched "Rosemary's Baby".

It was my umpteenth viewing, but it has been a few years since I last watched it.

I really love this film...the cast, the production design, the music...everything.  It truly takes me back to the late 60s, yet seems quite timeless to me.

One of today's Zoom chatters asked me how I felt it holds up.  I told him it's just as good today as it was back then.  He said he only recently saw it and thought it was quite dated.  That meant he thought it seemed like late 60s-early 70s to him. That, I told him, is exactly what it was and will always be for me, too.  Then he said he guessed he had seen so many films that followed this one that it seemed "derivative."  I assured him it was not that at the time, just as "The Exorcist" was a one-of-a-kind when it was made.

Bob Rafelson has died. So has Mexican culinary explorer Diana Kennedy.

I didn't know that Rafelson had directed James Caan as Philip Marlowe in a movie called Poodle Springs. It's on YouTube. I'll have to give it a watch.

I was an extra in the movie Bernie with Jack Black and Shirley MacLaine. I was also an extra in Sylvester, named after Stallone. But it was a horse movie with Melissa Gilbert, Richard Farnsworth and Constance Towers.

Watched Woody Allen's Amazon series from 2016, Crisis in Six Scenes. I must say, I thought it was very funny most of the time, in ways his films haven't been for ages. Elaine May is a treasure, and the supporting cast is fantastic.

Tacoma Little Theatre's The Silent Sky was a beautiful show...very different than when Olympia Little Theatre did it (even though both were directed by the same person, and I was involved with the OLT production), but still a wonderful show.

Their production was supposed to go up last October, but had to be delayed.  Fortunately, they were finally able to get it in front of audiences.

The director pug has been painting watercolors over the last couple of years as her own therapy and posting them on Facebook and Instagram.  Some are quite beautiful, but all are very unique and quite good.

Well, back in October, TLT hung pug's artwork in their lobby with most being available to purchase, and when they didn't put on the show, TLT decided to leave up pug's artwork for this run of the show.

We got home, and I came home for a bit, and it turned out that Shannon hadn't come home from her work, yet.  By the time she did, she decided that she didn't want to go out, so Shelly and I went to The Olive Garden.

I called my friend Margo to see if she wanted to join us because she lives close by, but she didn't...but she did ask if I could bring her an order of breadsticks, which I did.  She also took my broccoli, so that wasn't wasted. ;)

After Shelly and I left, I dropped her off at her place and headed to Margo's.  Not just to bring her the breadsticks and broccoli, but also because she bought a new in-the-window air conditioner and asked if I could put it in.  With her help, I did.

I realized today, that I have three different original cast recordings of HELLO, DOLLY!, but none  of them are with Carol Channing.  I have Mary Martin, Pearl Bailey, Bette Midler.  I suppose I should get BK’s produced version.  I am sure that is nothing compared to George.  He probably has more than three versions of many musicals - in different languages.

I am ushering again on Thursday.  And I ushered for it a couple of weeks ago, too.  They usually run their shows for at least five weeks, so it can be fun to see shows at the beginning of the run and also at the end.
