Well, you've read the notes, the notes procrastinated, and now it is time for you to post until the procrastinating cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PHANTASMAGORIC!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I can't say I'm sorry to see July, one of the worst months I have suffered through in fifty years, go. I've spent the month fretting over that Ohio property, waiting for a publishere to make a decision on my Annabelle & Thatch book, struggling to read while worrying that I was going blind and learning I had cataracts, waiting on money and contract from Indiana University, praying for work - and some did finally arrive - and getting turned down for food stamps because I have "too much unearned income," although that "unearned income" of Social Security and pension is less than $2,000 a month.
So, I'm praying August will be good to me and all of you as well.
-
I've got my dasily cleanup this morning. After that, I will spend as good deal of the day at my worktable.
I'm thinking tomorrow I might finally do the laundry I've put off for the past week.
-
DR TCB, I hope you are feeling better and that your breathing was easier last night.
-
DR George, for God's sake get an air conditioner for your bedroom. Those temperatures are both ridiculous and alarming.
-
Welcome back, DR singdaw. Sounds like a nice week on the coast.
-
This morning I'm listening to Berlioz's Requiem. I must say there are moments I can understand why the French critics of the time found his music confusing. Much of it is glorious, and then along comes a passage for just the large brass section, and you wonder what the hell he was thinking.
-
Good morning to all
-
I bought the new OLED Samsung 65 inch TV at Best Buy and I love it. I have the Best Buy card and hang it out over 18 months. I did a lot of research comparing it to the LG the Sony and the Samsung before I decided on the one I bought. You may want to look at some videos on YouTube from Digital trends before you make your decision.

I'm up. I'm groggy. I'm grumpy.

It is a completely gorgeous morning out there, but it's hot and the humidity is 91%,
Ugh!
-
I do hope everyone has a happy Sunday!
-
Sunday.
Happy to hear that MR BK got two important envelopes.
-
TCB thanks for the travel vibes.
-
Glad to hear the DR singdaw is home.
Travel vibes for DR JANE.
-
Our full flight is boarding.
-
Someone mentioned Something for Joey for the TOD late yesterday.
I had forgotten that one - but seeing the title reminded me of:
Death Be Not Proud starring Patricia Neal and Robby Benson......
-
DR TCB have you ever tried taking probiotics to help with your stomach pain? They help mine.
-
Glad to hear the DR singdaw is home.
Travel vibes for DR JANE.
Thank you.
-
Fingers crossed I avoided covid.
-
I have an important appointment tomorrow to receive my osteoporosis medication I get every 6 months
-
It should be done on time and already had to be postponed a week to accommodate Bryan's work schedule.
-
Vibes to all!
-
I am turning off my phone now.

Happy last day of July to one and all! There's a terrific new Broadway Radio Show now up on the site...the wonderfully talented Elizabeth Ward Land joins me to chat about her new album Still Within The Sound Of My Voice: The Songs of Linda Ronstadt. We had a fun conversation and, of course, you'll hear several selections from this new album.
Check it out!

Good morning, all.
-
Procrastination, you say? I’ve got plenty of it right here.
-
This morning I'm listening to Berlioz's Requiem. I must say there are moments I can understand why the French critics of the time found his music confusing. Much of it is glorious, and then along comes a passage for just the large brass section, and you wonder what the hell he was thinking.
I love his music, but that's a great description of how crazy it can be. As for the Requiem, I have the classic RCA recording, I think it's Munch/Boston, but I never got very far getting this particular piece into my blood.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Good Mormon, too, I guess.

I'm an agnostic avoider of organized religion, but I do believe something I'll call God exists in nature and our humanity. My Sunday mornings, instead of church, are spent listening to sacred music by great composers. This morning was Berlioz, but I most often listen to Bach cantatas, Mozart and Schubert masses, and, from there, Rachmaninoff's Vespers, Beethoven's Missa solemis, or whatever tickles my fancy, depending on if it's a holiday season. During Advent, Christmas, and New Year's, it's carols, Berlioz L'Enfance du Christ, Handel's Messiah, Saint-Saens' and Bach's Christomas oratorios, and Bach's cantatas, at Easter it's Bach's Easter Oratoria. St Matthew Passion, etc.

Beautiful photos, DR slingshot!
-
Dear World,
This may sound slutty, but I want to be used.
Signed, Grammar
Great bit from The Personal Letters Bookstore
-
Great photos, DR Singdaw. Wish I were on the beach.
-
Two months, or 62 days, until I leave for the beach. Not that I am counting.

I’m the same, and I think that’s a really fine tradition you have made for yourself. I should bring more discipline or order to my own music listening.

That all looks so peaceful and restful, DR singdaw.
-
Might that be The Printed Letters Bookshop, DR John G.??
-
Thanks for the comments. Yes, it was very peaceful and relaxing.
-
DR George, for God's sake get an air conditioner for your bedroom. Those temperatures are both ridiculous and alarming.
Thanks for your concern, Larry, but it really is okay. The high temperatures don't last too long, and even if I wanted, there's no way to add an air conditioner up here. It's a loft with no doors, nor any window that could fit any kind of AC unit...either in a window or on the floor. But my fans really do keep me comfortable. :)
-
Might that be The Printed Letters Bookshop, DR John G.??
Yes. It helps to know what I am reading. Thank you.
-
Got lots done this morning. Breakfast out. Groceries (much needed). An outside walk. Vacuuming. And re-assembling the desk, which had to be disassembled so that management could remediate the black mold while we were gone, that had resulted from the leak from above.
Whew! Now I need another vacation.
-
I also have to go through the process of collecting all the identifying documents needed to renew my driver's license, which will also require an in-person visit.
-
Travel vibes for DR Jane.
Thank you. We just landed.
-
Belated ~~~SAFE & EASY TRAVEL VIBES~~~ for DR Jane and DH Keith!!!!
Thanks :)

I'm up, I'm up - seven and a half hours of sleep.
-
The potato salad went over well. And I had a tiny bit left over.
-
It was good to catch up with friends.
-
Three!
-
Fiddle dee dee!
-
There wouldn't have been any potato salad left over had I been there.
-
Glad you've landed, DR Jane.
-
Nichelle Nichols of Star Trek has died.
-
So has Bill Russell.
-
I blame it on the Bossa Nova.
-
Or the pompatus of love.
-
Glad you've landed, DR Jane.
Thank you.
-
Nichelle Nichols of Star Trek has died.
:(
-
Keith told me the news while we were out for our walk.
-
So has Bill Russell.
He was only one year younger than Nichelle Nichols.
-
We have been to the market.
-
Then we went for a walk, chatting with neighbors as we left and again when we returned.
-
I am now doing laundry.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Glad to see that Jane, Singdaw, and spouses have safely returned.
-
We hope they remain negative.
-
Sure is quiet here.
-
I just put me second, and last load for the day, in the dryer. I am too tired to do more laundry tonight.
-
We hope they remain negative.
Thank you.
-
I was envious of Singdaw's vacation even before I saw the photos.
-
When our neighbors took us to the airport for our trip we wore masks and told them not to worry about it.
-
They wisely picked us up wearing masks, and we also wore our masks.
-
Two couples in our building have had covid.
-
We know of two couples, doesn't mean more haven't been sick.
-
TCB, I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope you're able to see another doctor for a second opinion and find that they treat you with courtesy and compassion this time.
-
I agree with Jane about probiotics. I would also recommend DGL, which repairs the intestinal lining. Pain medications damage the lining. My favorite is Natural Factors DGL, which I find very effective and I like the taste. They're chewables and coat the lining of the esophagus once you swallow them, then move on to the gut. If you have a tendency toward heartburn you'll be very glad you've been taking them, as it's far less painful once the DGL has healed the scratches and dings in your esophagus. Best to take them on am empty stomach and avoid food and drinks (except water) for 20 minutes to let the DGL do its job.
I hope you find relief soon.
-
Jane, are many other people in your area wearing masks? They are required again here in indoor public spaces.
-
But not everyone is doing so.
-
Jane, are many other people in your area wearing masks? They are required again here in indoor public spaces.
It isn't required here. I would say more people are wearing them since covid has increased though the majority of people are not wearing them.
-
TTFN.

Are those the licorice ones?

I'm glad some people are being cautious and wearing them.

Yes, it's a form of licorice that has been treated so it doesn't affect your blood pressure. I'm not a big fan of licorice, but I like the Natural Factors' taste.

TTFN 2.
-
Thanks DR Jeanne. I initially used that when I first got GERD. It gave some relief but the quality was inconsistent. That was a good while ago and I am not sure it was the same brand you are using. I never considered going back on it once the medication kicked in as it worked much better, and my symptoms were severe. I wish I had thought to try it again when I was off the medication.
-
I did like the licorice flavor :)
-
'night
-
I have nothing notable to say.
-
However, I don't want to let the post count lag on the last day of the month.
-
A dilemma.
-
A dilemma, indeed.
-
And a dilemma indeed
-
Is a dilemma in need.
-
So I hear.
-
Hearsay, as it were.
-
Charley, make it like it was.
-
Fuzzy wuzzy was a bear.
-
Fuzzy wuzzy had no hair.
-
Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't fuzzy
-
Was he?
-
OK, that was dumb.
-
But a post's a post.
-
And a post pleases the host.
-
As does toast.
-
Except that currently the hosts isn't eating toast.
-
At the most.
-
A few pieces of garlic bread, perhaps.
-
But not toast.
-
FIVE!!!!!
-
Being alive.
-
Now we thrive.
-
Now we strive.
-
It's a jolly holiday with Mary.
-
Now I'm just getting random.
-
Random is as random does.
-
I'll not inflict any more on any of you.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Good night, DR Singdaw.
-
And thanks for all the fish.

Pat Carroll has also died. I interviewed her almost 40 years ago when she was touring with her one-woman Gertrude Stein show. She had a great laugh and a wonderful outlook on life. We talked about she had played one of Cinderella’s stepsisters. For years after, kids would treat her horribly because of the way she treated poor Cinderella. It was a memory that brought forth one of those joyous bellows.
-
George, do you have the Unofficial Bridgerton Musical recording, which won the Grammy this year? I can't find a CD, only MP3 for purchase. I still like a physical copy of something.
-
Netflix is now suing over the musical.
-
Good night, all.
-
Darling Daughter was here from noon to six-thirty - she'll be organizing the Indiegogo list and getting that back to me. We had Marco's Pizza, watched videos, and I showed her the wonders of newspapers.com
-
Then I watched particularly nasty and vile movie.

Can't sleep.

Nichelle Nichols of Star Trek has died.
I just saw that. :(

-
So has Bill Russell.
I saw that, too, and had to read to find out which Bill Russell. I've never been a basketball fan, so I didn't know who that Bill Russell was. But another Bill Russell co-wrote Side Show, and Willy Russell wrote Blood Brothers.
-
That would be an interesting double-bill (no pun intended ;) ): a musical about two brothers who were separated at birth and didn't find out until it was too late, and one about conjoined twin sisters who couldn't get away from each other.
-
I have nothing notable to say.
That's never stopped anyone before. ;D

It was never made available as a physical CD (which I would muchly prefer, too), only as a download.

Netflix is now suing over the musical.
A little too late, I'd say. ::)

Then I watched particularly nasty and vile movie.
Uh oh. :o

I adored Pat Carroll - we bonded and had the best time together shooting Honeymoon Suite.
