Then, one of my late afternoon emails contained an invitation to a memorial service for my late friend Bruce Pomahac in early October.

I just got back from taking Kristi to rent a car while hers is in the shop, and I will soon be leaving for a friend’s house to give him a li’l tutorial on setting up Apple MainStage and programming a few sounds for a show in which he'll be using it for his first time. After that I must run a couple of errands this afternoon, and then have an evening-long rehearsal with our Carrie — just her and her songs tonight, which will be most enjoyable after the group numbers I’ve had to put together these last few nights.

She Loves Me, of course, was the rose of sheer perfection, to quote another musical. Skyscraper was anything but. I couldn’t find the score, but the dialogue was forced and unfocused and unfunny. It didn’t deserve Dorothy Kilgallen’s legendary ire. It just wasn’t good enough.

Post by: Jrand74 on August 11, 2022, 08:16:13 PM: HA! Well we had our opening. Everyone was very good - the audience was a bit quiet. For a moment I thought the theeder was empty.....then a few laughs and some applause as the act went on.

But no one left at intermission and they picked up considerably in Act Two....and we got a standing ovation - so there is that.

There was a bad light miscue at the beginning - but it was fixed in just a 20 seconds or so.....and then things went smoothingly.

So on we go to Night Two.

First: I am now graduated from Physical Therapy!! My therapist declared me beyond his ability to improve any further!!! That said, he did mention that there is both a VA gym program 12 weeks) and a swimming program (16 weeks) that I might find useful. Sadly, both programs are in Augusta, and each meets three times a week. That is far too much driving and gas expense IMO. So, I will take to walking the streets of Johnston...or, better yet, bicycling through the neighborhoods.

Second: I stopped at CostCo and shopped as if I had lost my mind. I got wonderful things, but they are all edible.

Third: I stopped at WalMart and bought A LOT of ice cream. CostCo was selling only Kirkland brand ice cream. I don't want that. I wanted some Haagen Dazs! WalMart had it.

Fourth: For the first time, I stopped at a restaurant that is alongside the highway from Johnston to Augusta. It's called Pinckney's and folks around here seem to love it. I had never eaten anything from there. I got a to-go box. Fried chicken, cabbage, creamed corn and unsweet iced tea.

IT WAS GOOD!

By the time I got home, unpacked the car and stowed everything away, I was "whupped". I had been gone for four hours and it felt like a whole day had gone by.

I did nothing all afternoon, and only wanted to watch Big Brother tonight.

BUT...I did see/hear Merrick Garland on TV. And I had to catch Lawrence O'Donnell's take on everything.

O'Donnell's guests all speculated as to what the consequences for Trump will be if this is true. The consensus is that it will NOT be good.

Garland threw down the gauntlet today. He let it be known that Trump has all the information his Republican harpies has been bitching about wanting to see. Now, Garland has asked a federal judge to release the warrant. Trump's lawyers have until 3 pm Friday to attempt to stop the public exposure of the warrant's wording.

So far, crickets from Mar-a-Lago.

O'Donnell, in one of his wind-up monologs about Trump called him "the most stupid man to ever hold the office".

I can only hope for horrible things for Trump. The very best horrible things, too.
