Well, you've read the notes, the notes were nauseating, and now it is time for you to post until the nauseous cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VATICINATE!
-
George is at HAMILTON in Seattle. He has been reminding us for several days.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Another poor night of sleep with too many aches and pains.
-
But I survived, and all the cats ate this morning, so why complain?
-
Today I'm working on the overture; the sketch is about half finished. In the section I'm working on, the printed copy pf the song goes thropugh G-flat, E-flat, and C-major in its meanderings, and I need it in A-major, which means I'm dealing with A, F-sharp, and E-flat. The transpositions are driving me crazy!
-
This morning I need to print out a statement and pay a bill so I can post it tomorrow.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Sunday funday.

This morning I need to print out a statement and pay a bill so I can post it tomorrow.
I pay all my bills by phone or autopay these days. The current head of usps has screwed things up so sufficiently that I can’t count on anything get anywhere on time, assuming it gets there at all.
Yet another thing destroyed by the the orange menace

Good morning, all.

Nine hours of sleep.
-
Elmore, my sympathies on the loss of your friend.

Wordle in 4, Phoodle in 3.

I pay most with my debit card, but there are a couple I prefer to mail in, simply because my Social Security pays on the third Wednesday of the month, as soon as the 15th or as late as the 21st. That's hell for autopay.

Last Saturday, Aug. 6, I ordered two 20-lb cartons of litter from Petco. UPS tracking info told me on Thursday that the cartons had been sitting and waiting for shipmemt since Monday. This is lousy customer service.
So, I asked the young lady I was speakng to to cancel the order. She claimed it couldn't be done.
Last night I checked the UPS tracking: still waiting to be picked up. I called Petco, spoke to a nice man named Ryan, who canceled the order and issued credit. By the time I finished with Custoemr Service, Paypal had notified me thewy had a credit for me from Petco.
I will never order from them again.
-
Good morning, all.
-
The length of time it takes companies to acknowledge and finally cancel things like the Petco-UPS mess is unforgivable. I hope you do better with Chewy or whoever is getting the business now.
On top of that BS, of course, the cat food shortages have become a “normal” thing, as have the continually rising prices on what IS on the shelves.

I really like this statement of Biden’s on the Salman Rushdie stabbing:
“Salman Rushdie — with his insight into humanity, with his unmatched sense for story, with his refusal to be intimidated or silenced — stands for essential, universal ideals. Truth. Courage. Resilience. The ability to share ideas without fear. These are the building blocks of any free and open society. And today, we reaffirm our commitment to those deeply American values in solidarity with Rushdie and all those who stand for freedom of expression.”

BK: The Taco Bell box was a “party pack” of 12 crunchy taco supremes for $26.99 + tax, bought directly at TB. It was split evenly between the three of us here, so, 4 tacos @ $9+ each.
It wasn’t too many years ago that a box of 12 tacos was $12.00.
And I will forever remember that on my first visits to a TB, I bragged that I could eat a meal for a dollar or just over. That included a burrito, a taco, and a drink. This of course was in the late ‘70s, and I liked sitting at the outdoor tables in front of the then-mission-style store that was on W. Third or Beverly Blvd., I always forget which.
(EDIT: See later post for more detail on current pricing. Oy!)
-
Good morning.
-
Elmore, I am sorry about the loss of another friend.
-
Today the youth are putting on a spaghetti dinner to raise money to replenish the youth fund for the next batch of kids going to the youth conference.
I am helping them with this. I hope some of them show up.
I made dessert. I also bought that broccoli and lettuce in bulk for salads. I will have them make breadsticks while we are setting up.
-
I haven't seen the kids since they got home Wednesday morning. I hope they come to church today.
-
That seems like a really long time ago.
-
John -- you are a baker, right?
I have seen breadstick recipes using the same ingredients, pretty much. Directions range from letting the dough raise the first time anywhere from 10 minutes to 90 minutes. What's up with that? What is the difference in the final outcome?
-
.
-
A first attempt at a broccoli croquembouche.
-
There's a thought for the top of page two!
-
That's about how much broccoli I bought.
-
Big laughs and heavy mitts again last night - and the cast was ON IT!
Many good comments. Thanks again for the JOSEPH vibes for everyone. We were ALMOST sold out....about 5 single tickets left....
And now at last two days OFF.
-
DR JEANNE we are still feeling the effects of the Grain Full Moon from last Thursday.....but those will fade this week.
The next Mercury retrograde in September 9 - October 1 and will probably cause a lot of chaos for us.....so be prepared.
-
DR singdaw I had been using an MP3 player and Tailgater speaker for many years at the theeder.
Last year our tech committee bought a pair of BIG Bluetooth speakers....and I use them with my phone and they are great! And if I can figure them out and use them - anyone can.
Highly recommended by the likes of me. And since we have two, I guess it's BlueTeeth.

John -- you are a baker, right?
I have seen breadstick recipes using the same ingredients, pretty much. Directions range from letting the dough raise the first time anywhere from 10 minutes to 90 minutes. What's up with that? What is the difference in the final outcome?
I dunno. I’ll ask a friend who bakes a lot of bread.
-
DR LAURA I may decide to make spaghetti today.....
-
And since we have two, I guess it's BlueTeeth.
;D
Or... if you just ate some blueberry pie.
-
I just LOVE spaghetti! But my glucometer does not.
-
Hmmmm......what are everyone's favorite Miss Carroll Baker film performances?
I like especially The Carpetbaggers, Kindergarten Cop, Cheyenne Autumn, and Bad.
-
I made a test batch to see of my yeast was still good. I let the dough rise while I was making the last batch of buttercream. It was puffy enough I formed it and baked it. It was fine.
-
I have a very warm place at the church to let it rise; the gas ovens are always warm, even when turned off.
-
Someone elsewhere asked me if I’m sure about the price on that Taco Bell 12-pack, saying they couldn’t find it that high online. I checked, and I couldn’t either. Then I played around on the TB website, placing a dummy order at the local store and another at a store in Newport, KY, across the river from Cincinnati. I chose that location based on my understanding that that region still has a much kinder and gentler cost of living.
Danbury, CT: $26.99
Newport, KY: $18.99

Amen.
-
DR ChasSmith, I will order the litter in 29-lb cartons from Petsmart. It's available in 20-lb, 29-lb, and 40-lb cartons. Chewy only stocks the 40 lbs. My Petco order was for two 20-lb cartons.
-
Purina must have serious problems; they are once again out of stock for salmon and tuna Fancy Feast dishes.

Sunday afternoon greetings! Richard went, in person, to the church he likes in Dayton and I went, online, to our former church here in Middletown. I think he just arrived home with our lunch.
-
DR Elmore, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. You might remember that, in our early dating history, Richard and I saw "Forum" at La Comedia.
-
DR Laura, my friend Pam sent this:
In general with bread recipes, time equals flavor. The longer the bread "ferments" (first rise) or rises during the second rise, the more flavor is developed. Also with more time rising, the texture of the bread changes. The same loaf to make Italian bread can be left to rise longer to create an open crumb for ciabatta. Breads like baguettes ( fairly tight crumb) rise only a short time. Thanks for asking! Happy baking to your friend.
-
From Vixmom:
I had a lovely customer service experience with Discover on Thursday , I called to use my points towards my balance before paying off my card and when the young lady ( with a wonderfully clearly enunciated voice, so rare these days) asked if there was anything else she could do for me, I said ( half jokingly) well you could give me a 0% interest rate for a year
She replied, oh that’s not my area, but one moment please, put me on hold for about 45 seconds and came back and said this is sherry, she’ll help you with that
And then Sherry ( who likewise has a very clear speaking voice, which I appreciate more and more each day) said I hear you’d like a 0% interest rate for a year, is that correct?
So I said, yes please.
So she said ok , starting tomorrow on all new purchases.
Wow, that's great!
-
DR TCB I hope Fraser is ok.
-

I agree.

Big laughs and heavy mitts again last night - and the cast was ON IT!

Great.

I dunno. I’ll ask a friend who bakes a lot of bread.
I have never made breadsticks. Since my shoulder break I sadly have not baked bread. I would let the dough rise twice, probably for a better texture and more flavor.
-
I just LOVE spaghetti! But my glucometer does not.
Is that due to the pasta or a combination of the pasta and sauce?
-
I have a very warm place at the church to let it rise; the gas ovens are always warm, even when turned off.
I loved when I had gas ovens for letting my bread rise.

Marjorie Taylor Greene strikes again. This idiot suffers from heavy varicose brains. Her staff must need to water her daily.
This one's good!

Can’t watch her.
-
Let’s move on.
-
Three!
-
Bought a pride of Barbados and a Maid of Orleans jasmine today.
-
Now I need to get them transplanted.
-
Bought a...Maid of Orleans jasmine today.
Does she wear a French maid's outfit for Halloween?
-
What if the nursery messed up and sent you a Maid of Barbados and a Pride of Orleans?
-
Hope DR Laura doesn't experience any baking accidents today.
-
DR Jane - it seems to be the starches: pasta, bread, potatoes. Only the things I love most dearly.
-
Good afternoon!
-
I'm sorry about your friend, DR elmore.
-
Wordle: No luck today
-
Pride of Barbados
-
Maid of Orleans jasmine
-
I think even I could tell those two apart! :)
-
If I didn't kill them off first.
-
The dinner was a success. I just got annoyed with so many people in my kitchen.
-
Just kidding.
It was good to have the kitchen bustling with activity.
-
The teens said they had never made anything that didn't come out of a box. So they learned how and why to sift flour. They learned about yeast and gluten. And they saw how much the dough rose after sitting in the warmth.
-
I showed them how to pipe buttercream frosting on a cupcake and let them have a go at it.
-
ChasSmith, I think the party pack is even cheaper here. I'll have to check. 18.99 at my local Taco Bell.
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost twelve hours of wonderful sleep and have been catching up since arising.
-
Thanks for the info, John G.
-
Annabelle received a wonderful gift from Amazon today.
Annabelle received a fantastic gift from Amazon today.

-
A Gift For Annabelle is the name of the latest installment of my memoirs.
-
Nice to hear from DR GINNY.
Glad to hear that DR LAURA's spaghetti dinner was a success AND a learning experience.
-
Overcast here all day...which means that the air conditioner/heat pump was on vacation as well.
-
Where is MR BK?
-
We could find nothing to tell us who sent it, but I suspect it's someone who posts here. She wants that person to know she sends her thanks and affection. Thatch and Stella second that
. And ditto from me.
-
:)
-
:)
LOL!
-
How does someone this stupid get elected?
-
I ... don't know what to say, Elmore.
-
The teens said they had never made anything that didn't come out of a box. So they learned how and why to sift flour. They learned about yeast and gluten. And they saw how much the dough rose after sitting in the warmth.
Good for you, Laura…and good for them to learn that stuff
-
They did voluntarily stay and wash the dishes, which I was happy about.
-
Can’t watch her.
Same here.
-
DR Jane - it seems to be the starches: pasta, bread, potatoes. Only the things I love most dearly.
So not the sauce ;)
-
Speaking of pasta and sauce, we had some tonight. It was a nice treat. The pasta was high protein so I hope that helped.
-
Pride of Barbados
I love the color.
-
Maid of Orleans jasmine
Lovely. Does it smell heavenly?
-

I always enjoyed baking with children.
-
I showed them how to pipe buttercream frosting on a cupcake and let them have a go at it.
Fun.
-
They did voluntarily stay and wash the dishes, which I was happy about.
Excellent.
-
DR Laura is your family covid free?
-
So far as we know, none of us have had it.
-
Yay.
-
We are going to watch the very long Bond movie, No Time to Die.
-
'night
-
DR Laura - it is so great what you did with the kids today. Brava!
-
Unless I missed it, I don't think we have had a report from DR George yet about his Hamilton-attending experience. Looking forward to that.
-
Even though I took a nap this afternoon, I'm still tired and sluggish.
-
I think I'm meandering off to bed.
-
I could blather on to the next page, I suppose.
-
I'm a serial blatherer.
-
In case you hadn't noticed.
-
But it's for a good cause.
-
All for one.
-
And one for all.
-
All in all.
-
Alrighty then.
-
This is it!
-
Page Five.
-
BK is here - I've been watching stuff. Really not in the mood to start on the screenplay stuff, so that will be tomorrow, but did do some work on where we might shoot certain sequences for the web series and put out another ask for a performer.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Maid of Orleans jasmine
Lovely. Does it smell heavenly?
Better than gardenias.
-
Watching one of the extras on Toni, which was heartbreaking. It’s 98 minutes pf TV interviews Jean Renoir made for Jacques Rivette.
-
Glad the whole experience with the kids worked out so well, DR Laura. Thanks for sharing.
-
Made a nectarine-blueberry crumble for Bible study tonight. I liked it. Very buttery. And the fruit was perfect.
-
One more 30-minute extra on this disc, which I will watch tomorrow.
-
Good night, all.
-
Vixdad and I had brunch with former DR WFO today
-
We had a very enjoyable time
-
BK he says he can not remember his user name and password
-
Is there a way for him to recover or should he just start a new account?
-
George is at HAMILTON in Seattle. He has been reminding us for several days.
What he said.
;)
-
Well, Hamilton was a great production...for the most part.
-
I really enjoyed the show, but I don't love it.
-
I don't know if it's that there are just too many words that were hard to follow or what, but it just doesn't grab me as much as In the Heights did when I saw that (non-Equity) tour.
-
Because Margo is a bit mobility-impared, we were able to get seats up very close.
-
Here's a picture that David took of us:
-
We were in the very first two seats of the right side, so we didn't see all of the right side if the stage, but it didn't seem like we missed much.
-
The volume of the voices was a bit under the instruments, so sometimes it was hard to understand them since I don't have the score completely memorized the way a lot of the audience seemed to have. ::)
-
Here's a (blurry) picture of the sound board operator...notice her shoes. ;)
-
And here's a (less blurry) picture of the rest of the soundboard:
-
I have no desire to EVER even try to learn a soundboard like that! :o
-
And here's a picture of the cast that David took during the bows:
-
He assured me that he did not take any pictures during the show. ::)
-
;)
-
I've been at Taco Bell enjoying my Taco Bell dinner, but now I'll go home to ketchup on all of today's posts.
-
But...
-
...before I go, let turn the page to...
-
six ! ! ! ! ! !
-
;D
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
I certainly did not love Hamilton.
-
Big laughs and heavy mitts again last night - and the cast was ON IT!
Many good comments. Thanks again for the JOSEPH vibes for everyone. We were ALMOST sold out....about 5 single tickets left....
And now at last two days OFF.
Congrats, Jrand!
-
This afternoon's matinee of TO-APTGW went quite well!
-
We had an almost full (it seats about 60) house.
-
I did (accidentally) set off a sound cue too soon, but since pretty much EVERYTHING goes wrong in the show, the audience had no idea...the actors did, though. ::)
-
But it didn't screw up anyone's performance, so it was okay.
-
Someone elsewhere asked me if I’m sure about the price on that Taco Bell 12-pack, saying they couldn’t find it that high online. I checked, and I couldn’t either. I bought the 12-pack last weekend for a cast party, and the Supreme pack was $26.99...the actual tacos, however, were not supremed. They were just the regular tacos. :P

I have since reported. :)

DR TCB I hope Fraser is ok.
I have heard nothing from Sharry, so I fear the worst.
-
I could blather on to the next page, I suppose.
Can you have spaghetti made from squash?
-
I've been at Taco Bell enjoying my Taco Bell dinner, but now I'll go home to ketchup on all of today's posts.
Why are you having a Taco Bell dinner at 9:30 at night? If you want to lose weight (which I obviously don’t want to do), you should never eat after 8:00 p.m. at the latest, but preferably no later than 6:00 p.m.
-
I certainly did not love Hamilton.
Thank you. I thought it was just me.

Really? What time did the matinee end? What time did you finish the errands for your sister? And what time did you finish playing Phase 10?
-
And in case anyone was still wondering, I heard nothing today about the surgery tomorrow.
-
Really? What time did the matinee end? What time did you finish the errands for your sister? And what time did you finish playing Phase 10?
The matinee ended around 3:15. I didn't go to my sister's or my mom's, so no Phase 10 today. I just came home and fell asleep until about 8:30 when I woke up and realized that I hadn't had anything to eat all day.

Always ;D but they're still legitimate questions.
