Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a sequel and went awry, and now it is time for you to post until the awry cows come home.

And the word of the day is: ARCANE!

Good morning, friends.

Good morning, all!

I keep thinking today is Monday since I spent too much of yesterday thinking it was Sunday. While yesterday was a better day than the one before in many ways, I did manage in my wanderings about the apartment to pull some muscle in my left calf muscle, which made standing on the leg and getting about quite painful. It was kinda like having a charlie horse full time. I tried, delicately, a few leg stretches, but by 8:00pm the pain was so bad, I brushed the cats, took sevewral muscle relaxers, pain meds, and sleeping aids, and went to bed at 8:30. I slept rasther well, and this morning te pain is almostr gone, but I'm treading delicately for a while.
-
I have my lab work this morning, and Accvess-a-Ride is all ready for me, for next week's doctor's appointment. I admit6 some concerns about the lobby stairs and pressure on that left leg. I will bner very happy when I get home and I am safely inside the apartment.

BK, in 2011 when I was obn that marathon 3-month recordign schedule for the Victor Herbert Collercted Songs, I had a soprano drop out because of surgery. I tried to contact Kelli O'Hara via a Facebook PM, and I nevere got a response. I should have contacted hjer via Danny Burstein, but I honestly hadn't thought about that. Instead, I took a chance on the wondewrful Sara Jean Ford, and I'm very happy I did.
-
DR TCB, you don't like The Pirate? I think it, The Wizard of Oz,and Meet Me in St Louis are my three favoritew Judy Garland films.

No word on that damned Ohio property. Please, please send heavy vibes.

Pain free vibes for Elmore

Now here's a question that's been bothering me: how can all these newly-elected MAGA morons take an oath of office to uphold the Constitution while denying all the truths about the last election?

MAGA = NAZI

Good morning, all.

Well, damn it, I thought I’d have something to say.

In the meantime, I send positive vibes for the sale of the property for DR Elmore, and pain- and trouble-free vibes to all.

~~~MEGA-STRENGH PROPERTY SALE VIBES~~~ for DR elmore3003!!!!!!
-
Well anyway.....that sound you hear is the cast and crew of JOSEPH dropping like flies.
-
Some days back BK mentioned the Samuel Barber violin concerto. I just had occasion to listen to it again a few days ago, and had forgotten how much I love it.
-
We were down two cast members and the light board operator last night.....so yesterday was spent teaching the cues to the new guy....and working out some workarounds for the things the two cast members do.
-
DR Jrand71 - oh, no!!!!!!
-
(two)
-
Everyone did well last night - I had sent them all home from rehearsal on Wednesday night to test themselves.....so if they are all honest, we are all negative.
-
Is it COVID?
-
Yikes.
-
Three more performances.
My sincere wish is that I don't have to go on...NOBODY wants to see that!
-
I remember all the problems you had with this last summer.
-
Otherwise - things are fine. Thanks.
-
Yes Dr singdaw the damned COVID. Yes last year we had to cancel the entire run....
-
OMG, DR Jrand71.
There's just nothing like these kinds of disruption in the theeder. I totally hear you.
Vibes the show continues on just fine with your adjustments.
-
Show vibes, JRand.
-
That’s some scary stuff.
-
Vibes for all of us.
It's not a contest, but I'll just throw our li'l stories into the pot for everyone's reading pleasure:
Thank the lord we have five weeks of rehearsal left before tech week, because - I know you won't believe this - but we JUST NOW acquired our second to last Missing Man, and are still short one. Aggravatingly, to me, the one acquired just before this is less than skilled in the ensemble- and harmony-singing department, but he's a body on the stage we needed and that practically takes priority at this point.
And then last night we felt the hot breath of warning signs of how careful everyone must be. One of the girls got reminded of how she needs to take the curves on our winding country roads a little slower when it's raining (she only skidded a little bit). And then our Carrie, of all people, had a tire blow out on another of those roads. Her car went off the road, took out a sign, and came to rest at a steep angle -- nothing that couldn't be negotiated in safely getting out, etc., and thank the lord (again) that she was completely unharmed. She comes from an hour away, and her dad came to pick her up and deal with the car.
This theeder stuff is like constantly walking the fine line between survival and failure. It's not for the faint of heart, but that seems truer now than ever before.
-
And as it happens, I have once again entered one of those dead zones in which Communications Are Down.
Meaning, I've had at least four or five emails out to people on various topics that all require responses (all of which have been expected for a couple of days already)...and it's like I'm typing into the ether and the messages are bypassing their destinations and flying off into space. Invariably when this happens, once the first response arrives, the others aren't far behind.
But I really fail to understand what's wrong with people sometimes, that they for some reason don't feel the need to respond to things in a timely manner.
From TCB:
I am not having cataract surgery. I had that ten years ago. This is the first of two plastic surgeries on my eyelids. This first surgery is on my lower lids, and the second one will be on the upper lids.
Now I get it. Oops, sorry. You should be able to see better once you have it done. I thought they would do it all at once, it must be bad to separate the two surgeries.
We were looking forward to meeting friends for lunch tomorrow. They planned to stop on their way home after vacationing in Washington.
Covid happened and they are getting home as fast as possible.
-
I am home. Today Access-a-Ride outdid themselves. Both trips were epic disasters. More when I calm down.
-
DR Jrand71, I am so sorry t read your news.
I could really go for a baguette right about now. And I don't mean the precious gem kind.
Chicken.
There is more than chicken. It looks like rice which I have not seen before.
It was largely chicken and gravy with few veggies. No potatoes. So, the rice soaked up the gravy.
Glitter, Singdaw. Just glitter.
More property-selling vibes for DR elmore!
-
Thanks all!
I have received no messages from anyone that we have lost anyone else.
Yes DR CHAS SMITH sometimes theeder in the wild can be dangerous. I have to take two back roads since two of the main roads to my place of entertainment have been closed since May.
-
But only three more trips and then my drives will be intermittent to take care of publicity chores for THE MIRACLE WORKER.
-
Waiting for more than 5 minutes just to place an order at Popeyes. Feels like 10.
-
So, here's my day. My appointment was at 9:50; Access=a=Ride showed up around 9:00, which was great. went down to the lobby, navigated thew steps with no problem and left the building. There was no caer waiting in front of the building, but there was cab sitting in front of the building on the corner. So I put the walker in the street and walked toward the back of thew taxi. When I was maybe three feet from the back of the taxi, I shouted, "Are you my Access-a-Ride?" There was no response.
-
I walked closer to the taxi. I realized there was no face in the driver's rear view mirrir, so I thought maybe the taxi was empty and it wasn't my ride. I shouted again, "Hel;lo? Access-a-Ride? Are you my car?"
There was no response, and here I was standing in the middle of West 82nd Street and pondering my next step.
A couple of pedestrians came up to me and asked if I needed help. I asked them to ask the taxi driver - if he were in the car - if he was my Accessa-Ride.
"
-
Suddenly a face appeared to confirm that he was my ride. I, hot, sweaty, legs aching, said, :I've been srtanding here yelling at you if you were my ride, God dammit."
Well, that put his panties in a bumch, and he said, "Get a new driver. I'm not taking you." Then he started tyhe taxi and drove off. The time was 9:05.
-
I called AAR and to;d the ypung lady who picked up the whole story. She said sje would call him to come back and pick me up. I told her, "I don't him back. He's crazy. I want him fired, and I need a new ride."
She said I would hear aboutr a new car in 5-10 minutes.
-
In less than three minutes I got as call: my car would be there in 11 minutes. I thought it's around 9:15; I'll be there on time.
At 9:26, I called. The car should be there in 4 minutes.And it was not the same car and licensew number tyhey mentioned in the last call.
Shortly after 9:30 I called again; the car would be there in 11 minutes, and it was a different car and license number.
-
As soon as a taxi drove by, I flagged it down and arrived at my HMO around 9:50; I had my blood drawn, peed into a cup, and ewas finished by 10:15. My ride home was atr 10:42. I went to the lobby, took a seat, and relaxed.
I forgot: just after I got into the taxi, AAR called me to tell me my ride was waiting in front of my buyilding.
-
At 10:34, I called AAR to ask why I hadn't heard from them about my 10:42 ridfe home. I was told they were looking for a car.
Around 10:45 I ccalled again; the car would be there in 2 minutes.
Around 10:50, I called again; the car was stuck in traffic; he'd be there in 15 minutes. I told them they were getting close to the 30 minute required waiting time.
-
At 10:15 I called again and spoke to a nice lady named Clara who took my complaint about the two rides. At 10:20, my car showed up. The driver was wonderful and took extra pains to seew I was safely in the car and safely home.
I don't know if I hate my life or Access-a-Ride more.
Exactly, and Bruce said the person was on FB and should have seen the notification. Or do you not notice notifications when you are on FB? I suppose there are those that don't look for them.
Finishing up Werner Herzog's new novel, The Twilight World. It's a story that he's perfect for: It's about the Japanese soldier who didn't know for decades that World War II had ended.
-
I did get a slew of movies from the library today. Everything from Deborah Kerr in Love on the Dole to Don Ameche, Joan Bennett and Roddy McDowall in Confirm or Deny. I probably won't start with the three-hour Drive My Car. I don't know if I have the patience for it.
Tonight's The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong was practically flawless...in a good way!
Every cue was set off correctly.
All the pre-show business was quite funny.
And the actual play was completely enjoyed by our audience made up of many theater friends.
They really enjoyed it!
We got laughs in a few places that haven't gotten laughs before, so that was exciting.
Yesterday was not too bad a pain day, but today was excruciating. The pain woke me at 5:00 a.m. I took a pain pill, but by 5:30 the pain was getting worse, so I got up and got dressed. It had one cup off coffee and then tried to read my emails, which have really piled up , but I couldn’t concentrate..
