Well, you've read the notes, the notes informed you that the cat is indeed out of the bag, and now it is time for you to post until the out of the bag cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PANACHE!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
TOD:
Being There
-
The BIG NEWS is so exciting. Amazon Prime! Broadway Stars! You can't get better than that.
-
The Sellers documentary sounds intriguing.
-
We have some White Castles locally. I don't think I've ever been, but onion chips sound likewise intriguing.
-
The hardcover copies of Mary Rodgers's Shy are back in stock at Amazon.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept very poorly last night, and this morning I did not want to get out of bed. It took Stella walking on my head and wrestling with Annabelle to make me move.
-
When I got up, there were tennis balls everywhere. One of the cats - I suspect Stella, of course, dragged a bag of tennis balls off my cart. I am not amused.
-
I am not going into tennis. My podiatristy recommended them as an exercise for my arches.
-
This web series could be quite interesting, I do believe. I enjoyed the press release.
-
I was not a regular viewer of The Office. I missed the Sweeney Todd episode, but now I'm curius to see it.
-
Well, DR George, how did the reading go? Are you happy with the role?
-
DR vixmom, I am so sorry to hear of your new affliction. I think you need an MRI to look for crushed disc in your back.
-
Good morning
-
I spent the night in the recliner with a heating pad and surprisingly slept through until 7 am
-
My back is still twinging but much better than yesterday
-
Fortunately I was assigned to do a closing near to my home this morning and I don’t have to be there until 10 am so I have time for a leisurely hot shower and some stretching before I leave

Chas there is a White Castle right in my town. Google advises it is 1.1 miles from my home
-
I have only been there once when it first opened , perhaps 15 or 20 years ago
-
I discovered that the effects of eating their burgers was rather like prepping for colonoscopy
-
I never watched The Office
-
Perhaps I will look to see if it’s streaming somewhere
-
BK what exciting news! I am looking forward to watching SAMI
-
Do you know when you’ll be in NY yet?
-
Good morning, all.
-
TCB, frozen White Castles are OK, but they lack the pickle flavor. You must have a microwave. Otherwise, they tend to dry out.
-
Two!
-
More vibes for Vixmom!
-
Breathing in the sleep mask was difficult at times last night. But I’m still here.
-
Sami sounds wonderful.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Web series sounds excellent!
-
I like The Office and its British original, but I was never a regular watcher of it and I’ve never seen the Sweeney Todd episode.
-
I discovered that the effects of eating their burgers was rather like prepping for colonoscopy
There was a White Castle in the mall in Cincinnati where I worked at Peaches Records arould 1977. The employees referred to it as White Death.

But in a good way, right?
-
The one in Louisville near our house was open 24 hours. You’d see the stoned in there at all hours of the night. The joke was the castle was white, but the air was green.
-
White Castle is such a signature Midwest thing. You probably have to have grown up with it to have it be a part of you, like those wacky Cincinnatians* and their "chili".
Interesting about vixmom's one experience with it. I have a friend who reacted the same way the first time he ate something at McDonald's. That was some 30 or more years ago, and he hasn't eaten McDonald's since. I wonder if I've had that happen with any such chain food, and I simply haven't thought about it in years. Not the actual reaction - I'd remember that part - but maybe not liking something and just never returning.
*Did I just make up that word? It sounds natural to me but I don't know if I've seen it. How about Queen City-ians? Nah. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.
-

I could put away six right now. For breakfast.

Sliders for breakfast. Yum.
-
In LA, I could eat a Tommy's chili cheeseburger for breakfast.
Still would. And those have "heat".
-
My first job was on Beverly Blvd., one block west of the original Tommy's. I remember the first morning I got down there early and decided to try one for breakfast. I had the best, most energetic day ever. It was a revelation, and I'm so glad my "constitution" allows for that kind of eating.

Looking forward to BK's web series!
-
Well, DR George, how did the reading go? Are you happy with the role?
The finishing of the read-through went well, and then we started blocking the first scenes that I'm in. I don't come in until scene 3, and that scene includes the whole cast, so we roughly blocked that. I'm enjoying it, but I need to buckle down Winsocki and really work on my lines.
-
Looking forward to BK's web series!
So am I! It sounds like it's gonna be great! :D
-
Just been told I have to go into the office now 3 days a week. Ugh.
-
The web series sounds most entertaining!!! I loved the photos and release in the notes.
-
That's too bad, DR John G.
Companies don't want their people to continue living the good life.
-
DR TCB I tried the frozen White Castle sliders....after microwaving them, I added a pickle.... But they always seemed a bit soggy.
I have never tried the onion chips, but if I ever go back, perhaps I shall.
-
Tonight is the opening night for THE MIRACLE WORKER and I will be working in the box office selling tickets, popcorn, candy bars, and soda pop.
I hope the show goes well. I do not know if the director used any of the sound cues or music cues that I made for him....it's possible that just because I provided them, he was at last inspired to find some of his own....as some people do....just because.
-
Now I have two stories about my neighborhood from yesterday....I don't know which one to share first.
-
Just made my appointment at Walgreen's for 2:30 today, for:
Covid updated booster
Annual flu shot
Not my preferred location which is only five minutes away, but I wanted a store that can schedule me TODAY, not early next week. If I'm going to have that mild sluggish feeling later today and tomorrow, these are the days off in which to enjoy it.
-
So first I will offer back vibes for DR VIXMOM.
And tell her that watching THE OFFICE would be a most excellent past time.....even though it is like spending another 30 minutes at work every day.....
-
So what was I saying....
-
Oh yes....Page Two.
-
Anyway.....yesterday my brother called me and said that a friend was moving and had given them a small curio cabinet. They didn't have any room for it....did I want it?
So I walked down the street passed the house next to door to my brother's house. The curio cabinet was about 4 1/2 feet high and in nice shape. So I said yes.
They brought it down to me and I rearranged a couple of things in the living room and there you are! I put in my uncle's dolphin sculpture and on the top shelf put my busts of Caesar, Hericles, and Nefertiri....most interesting. I shall take a picture later and share.
Oh and an armillary on top.
-
Story number two.
At about six o'clock after I mowed the back yard, I was sitting on the front porch. A truck pulled into the driveway of the house next to mine where our friend Sherry lives. It was her son Evan - who is an EMT for the township. I waved to him.
He knocked on the door and there was no answer....so he was leaving and we talked for a moment. He said his mom must be asleep, she hadn't responded to a text he sent.
So later I was watching a tennis match....about 11:15 p.m. I had my bedroom light on because I was also reading a book. I turned off the light when I noticed red flashing lights on the hallway ceiling. i went into Barnum's room.....an ambulance, a fire truck, and three police cars were in the street.
-
Oh yes....Page Two.
Umm...Three!

Oh, no! :(
-
Evan had called my brother and his wife because they have a key to Sherry's house - next door neighbors and all - and they had discovered Sherry had passed away....
It was a shock.....a few of us were in the street talking.....they brought Sherry out, all covered up and put her in the ambulance... ALL of the EMTs who know Evan were there in their uniforms.
Sherry has three children and I think 5 grandchildren. She was a few years older than I....but not much.
-
Hug the folks you love.

Horrible story about Sherry. Condolences to her family.
-
Wow, what a story, DR Jrand72.
-
Sorry, DR Jrand72.
-
So...
I was filling out Walgreen's vaccination form in advance, and came to the question "have I had close contact with someone within the past 14 days". How to reply, since the correct answer is yes, two days ago? I asked Nathan who has some medical assistant experience how I should respond. He said they want to know, because if I'm by any chance gearing up to come down with Covid and I get the shot right now, I'd very likely get even sicker from it. Yikes!
He then reminded me that, only four months from having had it, I still have antibodies -- which are very likely still doing me a world of good right about now -- and I decided to cancel, wait the two weeks, then get the booster.
Whew. So, never mind. Cancel that previous post. :)

Criterion is going Disney. It’s releasing Wall-E.
-
Whoa. New ground. I see it's a 4K UHD. With or without a Blu-ray, I wonder?
-
Thank you DR Singdaw.
-
Criterion is going Disney. It’s releasing Wall-E.
I like the movie, but that wouldn't have been my first choice. :-\
-
DR Vixmom I am glad your back is better today. Vibes for continued improvement.
-
DR Laura did you get Pfizer or Moderna?
-
DR TCB I hope you have spoken to your doctor and have a referral to see someone about your hand.

Re the frozen White Castles:
I've had them, and they certainly fill the bill when you have the craving and don't live near the real thing, but I found I wanted to "finesse" them to get past their inherent lacking. My method from several years ago:
Slit the cellophane and microwave a pair (or two pairs) for [whatever number of] seconds, then turn them over and give them another zap. I don't remember if they tell you to turn them over. If not, use less time prescribed on each side so you don't totally nuke them. But the turning, at least in my microwave, gave a more even warmth and prevented any cold spots from remaining.
Remove and add a sandwich- or burger-type slice of thin (dill, I think) pickle to each. Now give just a tiny squirt of mustard or ketchup or both, depending on yer preferences, and get them up to your mouth while they're still hot.
What I don't recall from years ago is how they were served if you didn't specify mustard or ketchup. I think it used to be different in different regions. Because of the moistness, I can enjoy them without, or with a little something. It doesn't matter, they're going to slide down just as quickly and easily either way.
-
DR Jrand I am sorry for your sad news.

Bruce, congratulations on SAMI.
-
I don’t know about today. I just don’t know.
-
Whoa. New ground. I see it's a 4K UHD. With or without a Blu-ray, I wonder?
I checked. It's a 4K / Blu-ray combo, and they've been listing these at their current Blu-ray price.

Just been told I have to go into the office now 3 days a week. Ugh.
That really stinks. Boo!!!

I give that policy a one star review.

That's why they call it the Lone Star state.

Queen Elizabeth II has died, age 96.
😢
-
People here are work have just heard that.
-
Long live King Charles III.
-
The woman who's playing Miss Marple is actually from England. We have rehearsal tonight. I wonder what she's feeling now. I'm pretty sure that she's lived in the states for many years.
-
I am always reminded - as a descendant of Lord Stanley if the right 1,622 people die - I am the King of England. Now it's 1,621.
-
Truly the end of an era.
-
Bernard Shaw of CNN has also died.
-
And the Queen has died, at 96.
This morning, they announced that members of the Royal Family were heading to Balmoral, and I thought, this could be it. She was twenty years older than I, and I still have memories of watching the coronation on TV. I hope she had an easy passing.
-
DR Jrand72, have you heard any more about your naighbor's condition?
-
I am always reminded - as a descendant of Lord Stanley if the right 1,622 people die - I am the King of England. Now it's 1,621.
Yet another reason to keep the tux clean and pressed, DR Jrand72. You just never know.
-
I just got notice that our A Murder is Announced director isn't feeling well (not horribly, though), so tonight's rehearsal has been cancelled.
-
Yikes!
-
I guess this wasn't my day to get jabbed.
No more walk-ins at Walgreens. You have to book an appointment on the website.
I thought of asking at CVS down the street, then said the HELL with it. I do go in there for things, but I just don't like the look and feel of CVS stores. Not that I love Walgreens. But I'll stick with Plan A and get them both at one time on an appointment a few weeks hence.

We saw our neighbor at the gym. He got his vaccination yesterday and for the first time has a swollen arm. Otherwise he feels fine. He has never had side effects. His wife doesn't do well. After we switched to Pfizer and did fine, she also switched for her booster. She still didn't feel well but was much better than with Moderna.
-
Ready for the day to end. Miles to ho before I sleep, though.

Good afternoon.

Today I finished reading Life is So Good by George Dawson & Richard Glaubman.
-
George Dawson, the grandson of a slave, grew to fame after learning to read when he was 98 years old.
-
The book was published in 2000 and he passed away in 2001 at the age of 103.
-
Waiting for that book, Jane.
-
I think you will enjoy it.

I am reminded by the news today that my mother-in-law once catered a garden party for the Queen at Buckingham Palace .
-
She also once catered a lunch for then Prince of Wales, now King of England, Charles, at her restaurant at the Royal Showgrounds in Stoneleigh.
-
Both these events took place long before she was my MIL
-
My back is recovering, slowly, just the occasional twinge, but I can walk normally as long as I walk slowly

I have also retrieved my van from the mechanics

DR ELMORE I am sorry I was not clear in my post.....my neighbor Sherry passed away last night.....she was gone when they went into her house.....her last Facebook message was to a friend about 10 a.m. yesterday morning.....and they went to her house about 10 p.m. last night.....
-
Good night, all.
-
Hello, everyone.
At the moment everyone seems to just be me.

Sorry about your neighbor, Jrand.
Vibes to your brother.

Jrand, given your royal connection you might enjoy HER ROYAL SPYNESS, a lighthearted novel about someone who is also a distance from the throne.

One more day of this oppressive heat, then RAIN!!! and cooler temps. Well, high 80s instead of high 90s. We had a bit of rain this morning, but it didn't last long. It did cool things down a bit, though.
-
The laundry was piling up, so I washed a load of clothes. By the time I was done it was simply too hot to be outside. (Community laundry room, which one has to access from outside.) It's been difficult to do anything outside.

Too hot to be on this laptop.
TTFN.
-
AARRGGHH!! >:(
-
My Internet (both through the Ethernet cable and my wi-fi) went out for about 45 minutes!
-
My phone worked, but I was chatting with a friend.
-
I then tried to set up a wi-fi hotspot on my phone so that my computer could connect through that, but I couldn't figure out how to do it.
-
Oh, well.
-
Someday, I'll have to figure it out so that if (when) this happens again, I'll be ready.
-
Normally on Fridays I go to my mom's house and I play cards with her, my niece and my mom's friends, but the friends won't be playing with us tomorrow.
-
My mom is going to have some minor surgery in the early afternoon.
-
Being a retired nurse, she didn't feel that she'd really have any problem with playing cards after the minor surgery, but my sister and niece thought that she should take the time afterward and just relax.
-
I'm going to get us all dinner at Panda Express, so she won't have to worry about that.
-
Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
I actually went to Panda Express today and tried their new (but available only for a limited time) Beyond Orange Chicken.
-
It wasn't too bad, except that it had been out for a while and the sauce had evaporated a bit, so it was a little more sticky than it probably would've been if it had been absolutely fresh.
-
I also had the Kung Pao Chicken and that was even stickier. :-\
-
It all tasted pretty good, but there just wasn't enough fresh sauce.
-
I thought I'd posted when I got up, but this day was so crazy and I never really came up for air.
-
However, new notes are up.
-
Whew!
-
But...
-
But I feel I should make 600 more postings as my penance.
-
Wow DR VIXMOM this makes us all at HHW only about 4 degrees of separation from the late monarch!
Actually three degrees with the King of England.
-
...here's...
-
PAGE EIGHT!!
-
Or maybe 600 penances for my posting.
-
I need a little relaxing time.
-
I mean, I did get some viewing in finally but really I never stopped from the time I got up until about eight.
-
And by that time, my brain was fried.
-
Not boiled or poached, mind you, but fried.
-
I gotta tell you.
