Well, you've read the notes, the notes were sleazy and were watched, and now it is time for you to post until the sleazy cows come home.

And the word of the day is: HADRON!
-
I just added Cole Porter Revisited, Vol. 5 (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Cole-Porter-Revisited-Vol-5-1990-Various-Artists/7312#71844) to CastAlbums.org (https://castalbums.org/).
-
Surprisingly, for the first time (that I can remember, at least), someone else has added the London How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (https://castalbums.org/releases/71841) to the database.
-
And the word of the day is: HADRON!
:o
-
OH! HADRON. ::)
;)
-
Good morning, all!
-
I actually slept rather well. I* dreamed but I now have no memory of anything.
-
This morning I have a lot of laubndry to do, and around 1:00, Amazon Fresh is ashowing up with the second half of my deliveries. For the first time sincew June, I'll have a stocked larder.
-
I got this email from France, Europe, abourt my overture sketch:
I love the overture. I knew with your theatrical flair you would bring something to this music that others simply cannot!!
I was very very pleased!
-
At the moment, Annabelle is sleeping on the computer table in her catfood carton. I hope she stays there while I am in and out of the apartment this morning. I do not want a repeat of yesterday's shenanigans.
-
When I was looking for her and she suddenly stopped crying for help, I was truly frightened. While I know most of the people in the building, there are some I know are either a little crazy or outright insane. I worry that someone will grab a cat running wild in the halls are seriously injure them. It was such a relief when Shane in 4C said there was a cat under his bed!
-
DR George, sincere good wishes for your mother's heath!

Finding this on Facebook this morning made me love the old broad even more!
4 Facts about Queen Elizabeth II and the Jews
1. Her Mother-in-Law Saved Jews During the Holocaust
When World War II broke out, Prince Philip volunteered for the British navy, and battled Nazis with distinction. Remaining in Athens, Princess Alice invited the Cohens, a Greek Jewish family with whom she and her husband had been friends, to hide in her house.
Princess Alice was brought in for questioning but refused to divulge the fact that she was sheltering Jews in her home. She returned to London in 1967 and died there in 1969. She requested that her remains be interred in Jerusalem, and in 1988 they were buried on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. She was declared Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem, Israel's Holocaust memorial. Prince Philip traveled to Jerusalem for the ceremony, where he planted a tree in his mother’s memory.
2. Queen Elizabeth II Hired Jewish Mohel to Circumcise Prince Charles
Queen Elizabeth II hired an Orthodox Jewish mohel to circumcise her son Prince Charles. Rabbi Jacob Snowman (1871-1959) was a London mohel of great renown.
3. British Jews pray for the Queen every Shabbat
It’s a Jewish custom around the world to recite a prayer on Shabbat for their government leaders. In Britain, this means praying for the welfare of Queen Elizabeth II and her family. British Jews ask God to “preserve the Queen in life, guard her and deliver her from all sorrow.” The prayer goes on to ask that the Divine “put a spirit of wisdom into her heart and into the hearts of all her counsellors” too.
4. She Departed from Royal Protocol to Listen to Holocaust Survivors
On January 27, 2005, the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, Queen Elizabeth hosted a group of Holocaust survivors in St. James’s Palace in the center of London.
Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks was present and later recounted: “When the time came for her to leave, she stayed. And stayed. One of her attendants said that he had never known her to linger so long after her scheduled departure. She gave each survivor - it was a large group - her focused, unhurried attention. She stood with each until they had finished telling their personal story."

Good morning

I have nothing to report because basically all I did yesterday was work, grocery shop, eat and fall asleep

The laundry is in the washers. There's so much still to be done. Oy!

DR vixmom, how's your back?
I envy you: I wish I could stewp out my back door and fall into a swimming pool.

Good morning.
-
I didn't hear any rain last night. It's still dark, so I haven't checked the rain gauge.

Good morning, friends.

The Alexandrov Red Army Chorus just sang Dark Eyes, aka Ochi Chorniya (phonetically spelled). Outside of My Man Godfrey, Shop Around the Corner and a few Fred and Ginger movies, I don’t think I had ever heard the song.
Now the chorus is singing Those Were the Days with the Leningrad Cowboys. This concert movie is a real trip.

This morning I had a long email to write and send out, which took way longer than I'd anticipated, but it got done.
Then I saw that there was just time enough for me to shower and get dressed and haul my ASS to a theater to play an audition. Just one audition. And that got done okay.
Now I'm back and answering responses to the long email, and ketchuping here. And the rest of the day is MINE. All MINE. I look forward to watching something really good tonight.
-
On my way to get boosted.
-
Which reminds me...
I had nothing for yesterday's TOD, but last night I ended up watching Dead of Night which I hadn't watched - at least not attentively - in years, and it was fantastic. Highly enjoyable.
The audio quality really sucks on that, though, and in a couple of different ways. I must hunt around and find out why. It's kind of an anomaly. It's a 1945 movie that sounds every bit as primitive as, say, an early 1930s one. There's distortion throughout, and a couple of musical passages sound almost "warped", like, fluctuating in speed. Bizarre.
-
Send that pie over here. Right now, damn it. Damn it to HELL.
-
DR Elmore, what a wonderful response in regard to the overture!
-
Yes DR ELMORE that was a nice email.

Did you bake the pie?

With the entire rest of the day being MINE, all MINE, I walked out on the deck with the last remaining fistful of ground beef in the fridge, to grill a hamburger. I'd been out and about earlier, but I had no idea what a heavenly day it really was. We are in that time of year that, if it were like this all year, we'd be in heaven. Because there would be so damned little to have to deal with. And right there was my answer to the TOD. The temperature was around 85, but it felt like, I dunno, 80? And very very low humidity. Right now there's perfect equilibrium between indoors and outdoors. Bloody PERFECT. It doesn't get better than this.
So please excuse the messy deck and the second grill that doesn't work and the cleanup that's waiting to be done all around the place. I was out there in my shorts and bare feet and could literally have sat down and fallen asleep right there. It's a rare day. And, as such, heaven.

Great deck, ChasSmith.

Had a lousy night of sleep. My kidneys kept getting me up every few hours. There was also a bout of sleeplessness during which I finished off Woody Allen’s latest book, Zero Gravity.

Not really. Too much of it seemed tired or recycled. But I didn’t hate it.

Got back at eleven-thirty, many telephonic conversations, doing a few things, and then watching the no-budget film The Devil's Hand, which ChasSmith pointed out many moons ago has a shot of my Picfair Theater at the end. The film came out in 1961 but because I identified what was playing the Picfair - I Want to Live - I can date the week the film was shot at that location - January 28, 1959 is when that opened there. Interestingly, I saw it the week before at the Stadium on a double bill with The Big Country. Second feature at the Picfair was a Bardot film I never heard of, The Light Across the Street from 1956.
-
In The Devil's Hand, they exit a building with a sign that says Belmont Hospital and the address 5907. As they walk to a car, that's when you're looking east toward Fairfax and see the Picfair. The "Belmont Hospital" was, in fact, Carthay Studios, where they shot the film's interiors. I was fascinated by Carthay Studios growing up and always wanted to go in there but never did - until the 1970s when I shot some commercial there. In the car, we're looking across Pico to the south and you can see a motel at 5917 - that building is still there, just not a motel anymore. However, the entire block that had Carthay Studios has been razed - one entire block - the studio itself was only on the corner.
-
Other locations - Westlake Park and then 7th Street at Coronado for the doll shop scenes.
-
I think these last 10 days have caught up with me, as I feel simply wiped out -- too little sleep, not enough to eat, and too much stress.

Then home again for dinner

-
Wow! Page Seven!
-
I have a lot of ketchuping to do!
-
But first...since we didn't play Phase 10 last night with my mom's friends because of my mom's minor surgery (she never even needed any pain pills), we all got together and played Phase 10 today.
-
I won both games!! ;D
-
Actually, one was by default. ::)
-
I ushered tonight downtown and had to leave in time to get there (more on that in a bit), I was the only one on Phase 10 when we were playing the last hand before I needed to leave.
-
When that hand finished and I didn't make my phase, I was still the only one on Phase 10 for what would've been the next hand.
-
Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
Everyone else decided to leave without finishing the game, so I won by default since I was otherwise in first place when the game ended!
-
I'll take the win, even by default. ;)
-
So I left and headed downtown to usher, and thought I had enough time for a quick drive-thru McDonalds (because I only snacked at my mom's), but it took almost five minutes to get through the line because of one truck's order taking so long. :P
-
I left a voice mail for the front-of-house manager saying that I was running late and was on my way.
-
I got there less than 10 minutes late, but it turns out that I WASN'T EVEN SIGNED UP TO USHER TONIGHT! :o
-
I totally goobered and THOUGHT that my ushering was tonight, but it's for NEXT Saturday. ::)
-
Dopey me!! :))
-
But even though there were only about 45 pre-sold tickets (the theater holds either 180 or 210...I can never remember), the house manager said that I could stay.
-
I decided to stay and watch the show because this time, I'd get to see the other girl play the lead role (there are two actresses switching off performances).
-
PAGE EIGHT DANCE!!
-
This young girl was a good actress, too (the rest of the cast was the same) and the audience seemed to enjoy the show very much.
-
After the show, I did a little shopping at both Safeway and Fred Meyer (I don't know why ::) ), and now, I'm home.
-
Time to ketchup on today's posts!
