Title: THE DAY THAT WAS A DAY
Post by: bk on September 19, 2022, 12:19:26 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes informed you that yesterday was a day that was a day, and now it is time for you to post until the cows that were a day come home.

I  believe I'm still the only lyricist in history who triple-rhymed salubrious.

TOD

As I posted earlier, I might have pulled off Friday evening 9/23, but since BK won't be in until Saturday morning, I'm afraid the week is shot for me until Sunday the 2nd because of my tech week and show opening. But then I am free to partay between Sunday 10/2 and Wednesday 10/5. When do you fly back out of here, BK?

Sister Molly bought the tickets for my birthday.....so we drove downtown....  I hadn't been to that particular theeder for a long time....it was pretty much the same....

She got tickets in the front row.  Unfortunately the stage had been raised over the pit so our view was limited....and there were some of those long low speakers over the pit right in front of our faces.

So what we actually saw was SWEENEY TODD FROM THE WAIST UP....but it was fun to see....

Last night I needed to relax and watch something, and I decided it should be something I've never seen. Well, I've got plenty of DVDs and Blu-rays of movies that I have yet to see, so I went to the horror section and pulled out Daughters of Darkness (1971). Now how could I have not seen a movie called Daughters of Darkness? I suspected I simply wasn't remembering it, but sure enough, I had never seen it and it was quite the discovery.

I rather expected something along the lines of Hammer's vampires, and boy was I surprised. The word "vampire" and all the other usual references aren't even heard in this one. It's a Belgian movie made in Belgium with perfect English spoken by all (a couple of accents, no problem there), a cast and crew completely unknown to me (I later learned that the actress Delphine Seyrig was Alain Resnais's wife, and he encouraged her participation in it), fine cinematography, and a pretty good score. (I need to hear the score again.) This movie truly is something completely different.

I didn't research the director and composer, whose names I didn't instantly recognize, and I'll do that. But it turned out to be fun, and this Blu-ray is a nice one with a couple of commentaries and interviews that I'll check out one of these days.

It was $3.17 ... which I know you were all waiting to hear.

I keep records on my car operating costs, and it looks like the highest I paid, personally, was $4.85 in mid-June, even though my gas station had peaked at $4.95 or $4.99 around then.

Mirabile dictu! Ann and Jen sent me a fantastic Mexican dinner from El Mitote, my new favorite Mexican place since the pandemicv closed down Cafe Frida. I had black beans and rice and chickern enchiladas suizos with very thinly sliced radishes.. All that was missing was the margarita!

Another great surprise!

Ann and Jen are great friends!

I was at Trader Joe's today. They had a sign up letting us know it's Talk Like a Pirate Day. I'm still not quite sure how that ties in with their business, except that it's a quirky store and it fits in that way. They are pirates in their brochure, I think, too.

Singdaw gave us the best clue: AAR, AAR, AAR!

I’m halfway through Fairy Tale, and I’ll give you this. Stephen King likes to read. Unlike these bookstore romances where the characters hold their favorite books, his lead character reads and talks about books with the knowledge and thrills only a book lover gets.

Aline is not very good. But the woman who plays the mother is spectacular. A bit of a no-neck gorgon, she’s a powerhouse.

TCB, forgive me if I missed this, but what is your diagnosis? Is the pain from arthritis or an accident, or…?
Also, if you remember which CBD cream helped, I would be happy to search for it online or through friends.
