Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both long and short and welcomed October, and now it is time for you to post until the October cows come home.
-
And the word of the day its: BRILLIANCE!
-
Good morning, all.
-
The line is long at the airport. Very long.
-
But I have time.
-
Thank you, all, for the travel vibes.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I had a mediocre night of sleep. It was good, it was bad, it was good, it was bad all night. Annabelle stayed with me, and Thatch and Stella made appearances. I had at least one dream but I no longer remember it.
-
Good morning, friends.

~~~CONTINUED SAFE & EASY TRAVEL VIBES~~~ for DR John G.!!!!!!
-
This morning, Access-a-Ride will take me to my pharmacy for a lot of meds, and then IO will meet my Moonshine and Mistletoe collaborator DJ for brunch. He 's left Manhattan for Florida, but he's here for auditions or something.
~~~CONTINUED SAFE & EASY TRAVEL VIBES~~~ for DR John G.!!!!!!
Ditto!
-
Michael Lavine and Karen Ziemba in today's photos! That was a nice surprise.
-
I think I had a Shake Shack burger once, from their location downtown near the Flatiron building. I don't remember it being anything special.
-
DR Charles Smith, did you send me an email or am I imagining things? I ask because I cannot find it!

Loved BK's pictures in the notes!

When I was working on John McGlinn's estate after his death between 2009 and 2011,, we worked out ofd an office space at Park Avenue and 23rd Street. On my walk from there to Toyland at 27th Street and Sixth Avenue, I would pass the Shake Shack and its long line in Madison Square Park. My drummer friend Chris Coluzzi, who worked in the area, claimed they were great.
In 2013, when I would ride the bus down Broadway on my way home from physical therapy, I noticed there was a Shake Shack around 90th Street and Broadway. During the pandemic I ordered food a couple of times from there. The first tie, I really liked it - the shakes are great - but my second time was npt so enthusiastic: burgers tepid, fries okay, and thew shake wonderful. I haven't ordered from them since,
-
Heading to Shake Shack...
-
DR ChasSmith - glad that you and the company survived opening night!
-
I’ve been to a Shake Shack three times. The first time to check out the hype the other two times because the person(s) I was was with really wanted to go.
The first time was awful. The burger was terrible the shake was ok but nothing special, I’d prefer a BK or McD
The second two times I had the chicken, which was better than the burger but I’ve had better chicken sandwiches chosen from the warming tray at a rest area on the NJ Turnpike
Overpriced mediocrity, I say
-
I’ve been to several shows at the Cutting Room, I enjoy that venue.
I wish I could have been there.
Ah well, that’s the curse of having a steady 9-5, M-F job
-
Ian seems to be entering the arena…there’s been a steady rain for hours
-
No crazy high winds yet although we have been warned to expect them

DR vixmom, I'm gewtting so addled that I cannot remember if I told you how happy I am that the Vixter, husband, and friends are okay.
-
DR ChasSmith, IO'm happy the gods smiled on the Carrie company last night.
-
Happy ChasSmith had a grand opening night.
-
I have great gaps in my cultural knowledge. I have never seen the movie Carrie, nor The Exorcist.
-
Carrie is great. After many decades of avoiding The Exorcist, I gave in and watched it and was very surprised just how good it is. I've seen it two more times since then.
-
Well, guess who's suddenly sick with gastrointestinal issues I'm blaming on last night's food delivery. I just cancelled Access-a-Ride and my brunch with DJ.
I promise to be extra-healthy tomorrow!
-
I have great gaps in my cultural knowledge. I have never seen the movie Carrie, nor The Exorcist.
Carrie is one good movie; I think it's much better than the novel, which I cannot always say about Stephen King adaptations. I was lucky to have seen the OBC Carrie, one of the really epic, misconceived disasters I've ever endured. I place it right in front of the dreadful Moulin Rouge for shit shows. Yet, Carrie failed and Moulin Gouge the Audience endures.

:)
-
Good morning, all.
-
I stumbled out of bed at seven to turn the heat on, then climbed back in and slept for another two hours.
-
DR Elmore, I did indeed send you an email with an attachment yesterday morning.
You must have nuked it but good. I'll resend it. :)
EDIT: Aaaaaand... Done!

DR Laura, I think DD Sandra should re-create this pose:

Stephen King thought the movie was better than the book, too. Or maybe that was the ending he was talking about.
Anyhoo, having learned as much as I could about the original Broadway production, I totally envy all who saw it. I have three local friends who did, too, and I have seen the VHS videos. Epic, indeed.
DR Elmore, do you know if the scores and/or parts survived, and whether they're accessible? I recall having a copy of what I think was a simple piano score, and it's long gone somehow. I am very curious to see whatever there is.
-
Thank you all for the op'nin' congrats. But the whole company deserves it. Against the odds, they made it happen in the last two days like nothing I've seen.
-
So, rain today, and that should be the end of it I think. That's the hope, anyway. We'll put on a show tonight and then I have five blessed days off, may the saints be praised.
I am really looking forward to our get-together tomorrow evening.
-
DR vixmom, I'm gewtting so addled that I cannot remember if I told you how happy I am that the Vixter, husband, and friends are okay.
Thank you! I’m looking forward to hugging you tomorrow! (Weather permitting)

And I will have a +1

I'd long heard about the impossible lines and all, but my first Shake Shack was the day I'd gone to Lincoln Center to see the Merrily We Roll Along documentary. I had time to spare and I walked up to around 77th (?) St. and got right in at that one. I liked the blend of beef very much, and I have to wonder if maybe they've cheaped out over the years, or if not, what I'd think about it now. I'll certainly have to try it one more time to find out. They recently opened one in Danbury.
The only other NYC location I've been to was the original Madison Square Park one someone mentioned (that's the Flatiron one). That was after a bunch of us had seen Sandy Bainum at the Metropolitan Club. I walked around the park for a bit and couldn't resist topping the evening off with a cheeseburger.
-
And I will have a +1
Excellent!

Good morning!

Great theeder news from DR CHAS SMITH.....we need links to reviews of course.
Second night vibes for the company.

Today I finally decided to do something I have been thinking about for over a year.
My kitchen table had six chairs. I decided to take out the leaf so that I would have more room. Well it turns out that the leaf, in addition to the clamps, had four little metal plates screwed in.
I finally got the table turned over, took out the screws.....flipped the clamps and VOILA! I now have a nice ROUND table with four chairs under the fan/light.
Lots of room in the kitchen. One Chair went into the guestroom and the leaf and the other chair went into the storage closet.
-
HA!
-
BK also mentioned The Exorcist. Yes indeed, it’s really a very good movie, period -- and I think that's why it made such a monumental horror flick in the first place. Friedkin had the magic back then, and he overruled Blatty on things that would have made it cheesy.
Great memories of it at the National and the Fine Arts, too.
For my taste the original theatrical version remains better than the one with the added images, etc., that he added for a rerelease sometime around the new millennium. He's one of those who should leave well enough alone.
-
Carrie is great. After many decades of avoiding The Exorcist, I gave in and watched it and was very surprised just how good it is. I've seen it two more times since then.
I’ve never seen either , but then I’m not a big horror fan

Annabelle and Thatch napping on my bed. Annabelle is on her pillow where she sleeps next to me every night,
-
Back from another exhausting day, but it went very well, I think, and we wrapped an hour ahead of schedule.
-
Had some pasta after - I'd had a sandwich for lunch and shouldn't have eaten such a heavy meal, but it was good. Walking home, however, was not easy on that full a stomach. I stopped at CVS and got Claritin-D and Sambucol.
-
I need to go plop down on the bed and hopefully sleep a couple of hours, having only gotten about five.
-
Nice photos in the notes today.
-
Love the cat photo, DR elmore3003.
-
Otherwise, we are in a lull.
-
DR John G. is unavailable to bolster the post totals.
-
I am available.
-
But have nothing to say.

That's worth saying.

Of course,
-
That has never stopped me.

Before.

But

I sure wish I were able to be there
-
at Joe Allen's
-
Tomorrow evening.
-
I have never been to Joe Allen's
-
Even in all the years I lived near NYC.
-
Ain't that a shame!
-
And yet,
-
That nonsense took us to Page Five.
-
So there's that.
-
I wish I knew more film terminology.
-
For example, I have a vague sense of what "coverage" means.
-
But it would be interesting to understand better what is involved in filming stuff.
-
An offer one can't refuse?
-
We had a nice lunch out with friends today.
-
A lot of oil executive in Russia have been taking advantage of that package deal.
-
That sounds nice, DR Jane.
-
And I find that I am now out of gas.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Like clockwork, I plopped down on the bed and slept two hours.
-
That sounds nice, DR Jane.
It was and the weather is lovely. We sat inside, next to the open sliding doors to the patio.
-
'night
-
Beautiful weather here today as well.
-
Thanks DR JANE - I shall have some photographic evidence tomorrow. No one has come so that I can get photos of my new costume.....but maybe on Monday.
-
Otherwise, we are in a lull.
I'm now at a movie theater
-
I like CARRIE the Movie.....I have never watched The Exorcist all the way through.....
-
Sleeping good vibes for MR BK.
-
My friend Margo and I are here to see Bros.
-
LOL DR singdaw - I like that sign!
-
It sounds like a fun movie!
-
I am watching a hockey game between the Red Wings and the Blackhawks.
Second intermission and the score 0-0.....but it's been a good game. Lots of action.
-
Just heard that Danise finally got her power turned back on
-
I made stuffed peppers for dinner
-
Actually I made them yesterday and let them sit in their in the fridge overnight. I think they always taste better the second day

I have never been fortunatec enough to have one of Bruce’s homemade shakes, but I am sure they are first rate.

I don.’t believe I ever ate at Joe Allen’s, but I had a pre-show drink or two there.
-
My friend Margo and I are here to see Bros.
I have never heard of it.

I never realized that rhe actor who sings, “NOTHING CAN HARM YOU” with Angela on the OBC recording of SWEENEY TODD is named Ken Jennings. I believe this was in his pre-JEOPARDY days.
-
Today my sister and my niece came over for a few hours. We celebrated my birthday (this pain started just before my big day). My niece brought me some gifts from the pot pharmacy. They brought lunch and we chatted. Very nice afternoon.
-
Then this evening, I watched all three parts of the documentary “11 Minutes” about the Vegas mass shooting. It was very well done.
-
My friend Margo and I are here to see Bros.
I have never heard of it.
It's brand new. It just opened yesterday and I think is a funny and very sweet (and quite gay) rom-com. None of the LGBTQ+ characters are in the closet.
-
Speaking of THE EXORCIST, I think it is an incredible film. I believe this is to William Freiden’s finest film.

Yes, I had four of the gummies this afternoon. I didn’t notice any difference in my pain level.

Perhaps it calmed me down
