Well, you've read the notes, the notes want a feel-good day, and now it is time for you to post until the feel-good cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MNEMONIC!
-
That's a good word for dear reader George.
-
I copied this last night before BK locked the day:
The more you run, George, the more secure you'll be. It's one of the reasons I get shows up on their feet in four or five days, so that we always run the show from that point on.
I totally get that. When I've gone through my lines by myself, I have few bumps, but the first run after the cue-to-cue is always is a problem for me, even when I know that I know the lines. :-\
-
That's a good word for dear reader George.
Definitely. ;D
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well. I called our building maintenance first thing yesterday morning and asked for help with hte radiator. Around 11:30, the super arrived, fiddled with things for around 10 minutes and told me it was off. Sure enough, it was, and will most likely remain so uintil January or so when the chill finally reaches this apartment, which has always remained comfortable while my neighbor screams about the cold.
-
Then, yesterday afternoon, following an email to Andy Marlette and cc'd to the potential publisher of Annabelle & Thatch, all hell broke loose. The brouhaha extended from a book I'd written to what I was doing at the time - cleaning my dishes and the cats - and I had a complete meltdown over everything: the apartment clutter I can no longer control because of my health, the property sale for next to nothing, cataracts and Access-a-Ride, too little counter space in the kitchen, and I ended up on the floor of the foyer screaming at the cosmos and crying in frustration.
It wasn't pretty
-
When I calmed down, I dragged myself to my feet, finished cleaning the dishes and cleaning up the kitchen. I posted here and then dragged everything out of my storage area and spent twentry minutes or or so tidying up as much as possible.
-
By then I had an email from the publisher that led to a rather heated exchange. At 5:00, before I gave the cats their nightly treat and lay down. I opened my laptop and there was an email from the publisher asking for the latest draft of A &T, so I got up, turned on the computer, gave the cats their treats, and went back to the computer. I opened the latest copy of the book, and started reading through it. Around 5:30 my neighbor Ann showed up to pick up something I had for her. She brought me two muffins from Zabar's. We visited for around 30 minutes, and when she left, I sent the latest draft to the publisher, shut down the computer, and lay down down again. It was around 6:45, and I posted here, ashut down the laptop, and settled in with the cats.
-
Today, around noon o'clock, Access-a-Ride will take me hopefully to my doctor for my pre-surgery clearance for next Monday. Until then, I have an Interlude to orchestrate.

TOD: Used quite a few of the delivery services early in the pandemic. Even for grocery shopping. By and large it worked fine. A few times I had an incorrect order, such as items missing.
Lately, though, these services seem to have become more expensive. The added surcharges, taxes, and fees have become somewhat eye-popping.
-

Amen to that.

Wow!
-
I use Seamless, which is a GrubHub subsidiary, on occasion, but what I hate is the fact that if I pay for $20 worth of food, I have to pay with service fee, tip and tax around $33.00 or more. Most of my deeliveries are Instacart deliveries from airway and Zabar's, and that generally incresases the cost by around 33%.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Vibes to all this morning.
-
And yes, a few actual feel-good days would be wonderful. Life is hectic and stressful at the moment, at least in this corner, and some relief would be most welcome.
-
TOD
I've never used any of these services. I haven’t even had anything delivered in the old conventional sense, such as pizza, in many years. In the Before Times, we were often just outside of some places' regular delivery range, and it could be a bit tricky finding the address anyway, so we got used to picking things up ourselves.
Those considerations are more or less a thing of the past these days. But even when this stuff took off with the onset of the pandemic, it didn't quite make sense even then to trust that everything would go right, or that the costs wouldn't be ridiculous, and we just never bothered.

Nice day here today - so far.
-
The only delivery service I have used is for pizza.....Papa John's. Several of my brothers and sisters use grocery and food delivery services - and I have never heard them complain.....
I kind of like to go shopping for myself - but then again....winter's a coming!
-
And now I wait for Access-a-Ride.
-
From DR George:
Now that the first time all the way through with costumes and NO (official) help with lines is over, I think I'll have a much better time during tomorrow's run-though...hopefully.
Goodluck tonight.

I'm told the driver will be 17 minutes late.

Nope! He's here.

We had a kitty adventure this morning. As we were getting ready to leave, a momma cat and baby were under the car.
-
Mama saw us coming and ran.
-
Baby didn’t lnow what to do, so he climbed into the engine area.
-
Clairy opened the hood, found the little furball and pulled him up to safety.
-
Mama, who is very feral and only hisses on sight, was actually pleased.
-
Here they are.

In the why? department: Kenneth Branagh is making a third Hercule Poirot film.

Good morning.

TOD: I had a pizza delivered once. I had Chinese food delivered once in 2006. Other than that, I've never had food delivered.
-
Today I am going to give a talk to children at a school about butterflies. It will be the second talk in a school since the pandemic hit.
-
I would like that calico cat, John. I have always wanted to have a calico cat. We fostered many, but I never got to keep one of my own.
-
Hugs to you, Elmore.
And hugs to TCB.

I’m with you, Laura.

Have fun with the butterfly talk.

Tuesday afternoon greetings! One of my women's groups met last night and heard a presentation about Ohio's voter redistricting mess. It's kind of depressing.
-
TOD - we usually go to pick up carry-out, but during the height of the pandemic one of our local cafes - Mockingbird's - stayed in business by delivering catered meals. We ordered from them pretty regularly and miss the service now that they're reopen for in-person business.
-
In the why? department: Kenneth Branagh is making a third Hercule Poirot film.
Fortunately...HAPPILY...it's one that has never been filed. He can, therefore, make it as ridiculous as he likes.
-
Yes, I am alive.
Sorta...
Kinda...

I am very happy that summer is almost at an end. I care not that it is officially fall...that doesn't mean a lot in "Indian summer" where it's just as hot as regular summer. On the plus side, those hot days are now fewer and further between.
I have had my house painted and patched and fumigated and the yard has been pruned and festooned with pine straw, etc. Am ready and eager for winter, actually.
That presumes we will have one this year. We didn't have much of one last year.
-
I have watched a few films on Netflix lately.
One was highly regarded by Stephen King, according to a Google news item. It is the movie called "Lou" that stars Allison Janning.
I found it rather moody at the outset with little done to clue me in on what Janning's character was about. It did become clear later on and it's nifty thriller at times. I recommend it reservedly...if you like films that unfold slowly and deliberately, this one might be for you.
One I wholeheartedly recommend and have rejoiced in is "Mr. Harrigan's Phone" starring Donald Sutherland and Jaden Martell. Based on a Stephen King novella, it's a curiously sweet, if sometimes violent, story that reminds me of the more pleasant, but creepy, "Twilight Zone" or "The Outer Limits" episodes.
I also started watching "Jexi" starring Adam Sandler. After an hour, i had experienced enough, even though 50 minutes or more remained. Not recommended by the likes of me!
-
I have occasionally had delivery from.the Chinese restaurant, but generally if were gettingvtakeout I'll call.in an order and go pick it up.
The cost for delivery and tip have gotten too high

Nooooooo!!!!!! :'(
-
Angela Lansbury, 'Murder, She Wrote' and 'Beauty and the Beast' star, dies at 96 (https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/celebrity/angela-lansbury-murder-wrote-beauty-beast-star-dies-96-rcna42421).
Lansbury was a versatile actor who wowed generations of fans as a murderous baker, a singing teapot, a Soviet spy and a small-town sleuth among a host of other memorable roles.

I love the filmed stage version.

But not the feature film. ::)

I've been up, I've been in bed, I've been up, I've been in bed - I am so tired of this crapola. Got up at eight after seven hours of sleep, fell back asleep around ten or ten-thirty and got back up a bit after noon, so I suppose that's eight hours. I'm about to get back in bed.
-
Glad Ron is back with us.

I feel neither well or unwell.

I've taken all my preventatives.

More I cannot do.

I am shattered to learn that we have lost Angela Lansbury. What an incredible actor; what an amazing career. I feel like we have lost one of the last great stars of Hollywood's Golden Age. R.I.P. Miss Lansbury!
-
Sad to hear about Angela Lansbury :'(
-
Yes, and so close to her birthday.
-
DR Ginny, what's the feeling about white trash JD Vance in his hometown?
DR Elmore, I’m not out and about enough to have the pulse of the town. I do know that, in the debate last night with his opponent, JDV once again derided Middletown. He is right where I said he’d be when his book was released - in politics. He’s still very much impressed with his own accomplishments, like he’s the only person who’s ever gone to college and grad school and served in the military. Maybe his long 15 minutes will be over next month…
-
Ninety-six is a helluva good run, especially considering she worked right up to the end.
-
Been in and out of bed all day - enough is enough.
-
Michael Callan, too. 86.

Yes, especially the part about working.
-

This morning I drove about half an hour to the home of the woman who made the marzipan tart. She then drove us to a regional park near her where we had a lovely walk. Much of the walk was along a river which looked like a stream with the low water levels.
-
It was nice to do something different.
-
That does sound nice, DR Jane.
-
I'm afraid my day hasn't been terribly exciting.
-
Nothing much to report.
-
I also saw the original Sweeney production 6 times, DR elmore3003. I wonder if we were ever at the same performance?
-

Oh, TOD
Before it was popular, when we lived in Michigan the second time, a delivery service from various restaurants in the area opened. You could even order from more than one restaurant. They would deliver the food to your table if you wanted. I got hooked on it.
-
I even used it when Keith invited an out of town business associate for dinner and I didn't have time to cook as I was at a luncheon. A friend told me to order from her favorite Italian restaurant. I called, spoke to the owner and he suggested a mean. I then ordered the delivery from the service. Once it arrived I transferred everything into nice dishes for serving.
-
She was right, it was delicious. We then began eating at the restaurant. I also have the recipe for the pasta we had that night.
-
Since leaving Michigan we haven't had a single meal delivered, including pizza. In Ashland no one delivered out that far.
-
'night
-
I arrived at seven at the Coral Cafe for this little meeting/meal only to have an email saying they needed to push until nine. I told them my voice was getting shot and I needed to be on vocal rest for at least two days and said we'd reschedule. I had a great patty melt and fries, stopped at a Rite Aid and got some Mucinex-D, which will help, cut all my phlegm, more Ricola and some Sour Patch kids.

Why not?

And hugs back to you, DR Laura.

I almost watched Something for Everyone before the trip. One of Angela Lansbury’s least remarkable roles.
-
T.O.D.
All of these new delivery services are incredibly overpriced. However, at times, when I am stuck at home and not able to drive to the store, I have used them for fresh, hot, and often very tasty dinner.
-
T.O.D. (2)
I have been very lucky not to have missing items, or cold food. Maybe that has more to with the size of Puyallup, compared to say, L.A. Still, they are an expensive habit to get hooked on. I use Pizza Hut for delivery. I don’t order the pizza, bu I do like their pastas, but the price has soared, so I will drive over to Pizza Hut (they are directly accross the street from the condo.
-
Another Angela performance I love not mentioned in the obits was her Ruth in Pirates of Penzance.
-

Ever since I adopted my wheelchair, I have been a member of Safeway’s Fresh Pass (I think that is the name). For my yearly fee, I can have groceries delivered daily if I wanted to and could afford it. However, I am pissed about today’s delivery. Safeway does not allow tipping of their drivers. Today with out notifying me, they farmed out my delivery to DoorDash. Dashers live and die on their tips. I did not know, until after the driver was gone, that she was a Dasher.
-
Somewhere, packed away in the spare bedroom, or more likely in my storage shed in Tacoma, I have a beautiful 8X10 framed color photo of Angela Lansbury. The photo is signed. I paid a lot of money for it, but it is lovely.
-
I watched a lot of items on YouTube with Angela Lansbury today. I had never seen her acceptance speech when she received her “lifetime achievement” Oscar. A lovely speech relegated to the non televised ceremony.
-
The first two were not special, Tom.
Well, no, but he is making money.
-

Another Angela performance I love not mentioned in the obits was her Ruth in Pirates of Penzance.
She told a funny story about Johnny Depp wanting to discuss her Ruth. She figured he wanted to use something of her character in his PIRATES films.
-
Oh, and I'm finally home!
-
Well, tonight's run-through was a MARKED improvement over last night's!
-
Miss Blacklock (her real name is Michelle) and I still had some brain farts (technical term), and we're going to go through a couple of our scenes tomorrow before rehearsal starts, but we both had really did so much better tonight.

Up are new notes.

I wouldn't kid ya.

We also got out of the theater earlier tonight, too.

When I got home, I saw that my friend Shelly and her cousin were both up, so they made me come in and talk with them...so I did. ;D
-
Earlier? It is midnight!

We talked for about 45 minutes, then I was finally able to come home.
