Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the CW, and now it is time for you to post until the CW cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: INVENTIVE!
-
Dear Readers, yesterday I saw my doctor for a post-surgery checkup. My new lease in my left eye is healing nicely, and now that the itching has stopped, I have 20/20 vision in that eye. What I do not have yet is any control over focusing so I cannot read anything in small print, so my posting and reading other posts is pretty sill for now. I have three sets of eye drops that I take four ties a day: 7:00am, 11:00am, 3:00pm, and 7:00pm.
My doctor suggested that I remove the left lens from my glasses, and so the result is very similar to when I first got bifocals; I have to carefully negotiate things I do because I am seeing through a good but sketchy new lens and a cataract in the other. The contrast in color and vision between the two is amazing.
My right eye is now scheduled for surgery on Dec. 5.
-
I am so glad that things are progressing well for you, DR elmore3003!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Glad yesterday's shoot went well.
-
CW looks great.
-
Good morning to all
-
Glad to hear things are progressing well for you Larry
-
Good morning, all.
-
Very fine pictures in the notes today.
-
And amazing news from DR Elmore.
It's too bad the other eye couldn't be done, like, next week! :)
But I guess they wait for the first one to be completely healed before moving on.
-
Such great photos in the notes! So happy that the shooting is moving along!
Green Screen shooting vibes for MR BK & co.
-
Such good news from DR ELMORE - be careful walking! And use your drops!
-
Wednesday.....I had a question the other day - and now that it is THE DAY, I can't remember what it was.....but perhaps I shall before long.
I watched a very strange movie last night that made me laugh a LOT. It is called THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS - I can't really describe it....but if you like George Clooney, you might give it a look.
-
Great pictures in your notes, BK!
-
That's wonderful news, Larry!!
-
Good morning!
-
Thanks for the travel vibes. My flight arrived a few minutes early!
-
Good news, DR elmore!

From John:
made it to Amsterdam. On my way shortly to Minneapolis, then home
Delta flies nonstop from Portland to Delta. We often are walking when it takes off and watch it. We usually hear it first since it is a large plane.
-
John:
Delta’s app wouldn’t work and I couldn’t check in until 3 am. Irritating because the app said I was checked in. But I couldn’t get a seat assignment.
That is frustrating, especially since you had to be there at 2:00.
-
DR TCB our temps are supposed to go up to 77 degrees.
-
Our air quality here is even worse than up there.
-
While I am not looking forward to the end of our lovely temperatures, and wearing shorts, we really do need the rain. As DR TCB said, hopefully it will improve our air quality.
-
Hopefully the rain will put out all the fires causing our unhealthy air.
-
From DR John:
Fredrik Backman’s The Winners is better.
Only better than a bad book, think I will pass on this one ;D
-
Thanks for the travel vibes. My flight arrived a few minutes early!
Early arrival is always nice.

Made it to Minneapolis. Hi, Singdaw.
-
Yesterday’s TOD:
Actors Theatre of Louisville did a production of Morning’s at Seven that brought about renewed interest in the play. The set was wonderful. Real grass and flower boxes, running water inside the kitchens, etc. The lighting was also perfect. I saw that three times in the month it ran. It remains one of my favorite theatrical experiences.

Made it to Minneapolis. Hi, Singdaw.
I am waving madly.

I'm the one wearing a gardenia.
-
I'm the one wearing a gardenia.
Hey, so am I!
-
I ended up really liking The Years. It’s not a vacation read. Its style is a little precious at times.
-
The Winners is the third volume of Backman’s Beartown trilogy. It won’t make total sense without the first two.
-
Also on the flight, I watched The Duke with Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren. There were a few style problems, but the acting was superb.
-
I now have six hours to wait until my connection.
-
The Kindle is recharging.

Wednesday afternoon greetings! Today I’m finishing books for both of my groups. Reading The Daughters of Yalta with my eyes in preparation for hearing the author speak tomorrow evening. And I’m reading When the Emperor was Divine with my ears for the group that meets Friday at the library where my career began.
Not at the same time, of course ;)
-
Welcome back to North America, DR John G!
-
DR Elmore, thanks for your update! The mismatched eyes are very annoying and I’m sorry the interval between your surgeries is so long. Richard and I only had to wait a week between. Your depth perception will be off, so be careful on stairs and such. If you had a car, I’d tell you not to drive - I couldn’t even “drive” a shopping cart!
-
I now have six hours to wait until my connection.
What a shame I'm working today. I am only about 2 miles away from you.
-
Singdaw, I was not prepared to see an ax-wielding Paul Bunyon at the airport. And here I was without Britten’s opera on my iTunes.
-
Glad to hear things are progressing well for you Larry
I hope things will be better for you really soon, Michael! Hang in there!

Saw my cardiologist this morning.
First, during check-in, they took my blood pressure which was textbook perfect!! Then I got a flu shot! They asked if I'd had one, and when I said no, I was asked if I wanted one. I thought they'd tell me where in the hospital to go after my appointment. But the nurse gave it to me right then and there.
My cardiologist was very complimentary about my heartbeat (!) and tests and changed my quarterly visits to annual ones! Yay!
I was so psyched, I stopped at CostCo on the way home. I wasn't going to, but what the heck!
-

I only read Beartown.
-
Tomorrow morning it's a surgical procedure for dental implants.
I will be out like a light, so I can't worry too much about sitting through it.
-
Sounds like a nice appt DR RON PULLIAM!
-
Chipotle headquarters claims they do NOT use MSG in any of their products. All I know is what happened last night has only happened before with a MSG reaction. I thought I was having a stroke. I didn't go get my mail because I was afraid I would fall off my scooter.
-
I have already pulled that stunt. I dn't want to repeat it.

Yay, all great news. That was very convenient your cardiologist give flu shots. Is he at the VA?

Can they find out what was in your food? It would be good to know to avoid it. Maybe the manager at the restaurant can help you figure it out if you explain what happened.

I am glad you didn't fall, and that you recovered from your reaction.

I enjoyed the notes and photos today.

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep, did stuff, and now I shall be on my way to the shoot.

Does shopping at Costco increase your heart rate? Or is it those hot dogs with sauerkraut that are unhealthy?

Yeah, being knocked out cold for a four-hour nap can help your recovery. I have never had a problem with Mexican food. It used to be Chinese restaurants that loaded their food with MSG. I will just avoid Chipotle. It was probably the cilantro!

Ask BK Day
What was Jack's question for Ask Bk Day?
-
Good afternoon.

My question for Ask BK Day:
(Anyone can answer, and should!)
What's up with all this weird casting and staging these days? Like an all female 1776 and this new Oklahoma! I'm seeing this weekend.

Would you call this new series a comedy, a musical, or a heavy drama? (Please not another heavy drama!!)

Good afternoon.
Laura! Nice to see you. Good afternoon to you, as well.

It is the world we live in now. I am about to announce my new musical for next Fall. It is a lighthearted look at Santa, who is a gay slasher, who goes around killing all of the kids that are naughty. Santa will be played by a non-binary woman. Music by ALW.
-
My apologies. I don't even know if there can be a non-binary woman.

Well, my eyes fell asleep a couple of times this afternoon, but the Yalta book is finished. It’s detail-packed, but just when you think you’re bogged down in the politics the author tells a vivid tale that perks things right back up. I’m looking forward to hearing the author speak tomorrow.
My ears will have to get back to you on the Emperor book.

Do you normally order food without cilantro?

LOL! Just a joke. Cilantro tastes like soap to me.
-
Well, if we don't get to page 25, it won't be because DR TCB didn't post.

:)

I haven't pulled out my copies of Opening Night on Broadway (1943-1964) and More Opening Nights on Broadway (1965-1981) by Steven Suskin in quite a while, but I think it's about time.
The books contain excerpts of the professional print reviews of Broadway shows during the Golden Era. Fun reading. For the hits and the flops.
-
Oy! Still a long way from page four.
-
It's a dearth. A dearth, I tell you.
-
A thraed, if you go backward.
-
And I know you do.

While that is the majority of responses I read about cilantro, some do have an allergic reaction. I'm glad you don't. So, did your food taste like soap-lol

Nope, it tasted great - for about 15 minutes.
-
Singdaw, I am counting on you to get is to page six.
-
Oh, the pressure!
-
Now I know what it feels like for you. Every night.
-
Well, as Carole King sings, it's too late, baby.
-
One for my baby, and one for the road.
-
Having my baby.
-
Baby needs a new pair of shoes.
-
These shoes are made for walkin'.
-
Well, they were boots, actually.
-
But in the ballpark.
-
Take me out to the ballgame.
-
Or the clam bake.
-
Calm clams can claim concentration.
-
But they'd be lying.
-
Be a lion.
-
This is tortuous.
-
Tortuous to write.
-
I am sure even more tortuous to read.
-
Torturous turtles terrify.
-
This is stuff.
-
And nonsense.
-
Stuff and nonsense.
-
Not necessarily in that order.
-
It's the catch of the day.
-
The soup du jour.

The veritable cornucopia.

Finally back from the most difficult shoot we've had - many reasons for it - I think we got everything we needed, though. More details in a bit - must eat first food o' the day. I'll answer all Ask BK questions shortly.

Landed.

My question for Ask BK Day:
(Anyone can answer, and should!)
What's up with all this weird casting and staging these days? Like an all female 1776 and this new Oklahoma! I'm seeing this weekend.
The casting is everyone's attempts to tick off boxes for diversity. The "staging" BS is director's basically saying, "It's about ME."

It's a comedy with occasional songs.
