Well, you've read the notes, the notes had points on jazz, and now it is time for you to post until the jazzy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ECSTATIC!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept 30 minutes longer than I originally intended, but it was so snug and warm cuddled up with Annabelle and Thatch that I didn't want to move.
-
Now that I'm up, the cats had their Fancy Feast Tuna and Whitefish and I've had my bagel and first cuppa coffee, I'm thinking about my day.
-
I need to go to my bank and pick up singles for my Access-a-Ride disasters. I think I may purchase Powerball and MegaMillions tickets as well before I head home. Then I will come back and work on my orchestra score.
-
Once again, my neighbor Ann came to my rescue. Those reading glasses were a revelation. After she left last night, I barely watched the TCV; I was too busy reading.
-
Five years ago today I attended a cat-kitten adoption event at the 92nd Street & Broadway Petco. I was looking for a little brother for Annabelle. I had two requirements: he had to be younger than she and he had to have some white in his coat. I checked out all the cats in the back of the store and then walked to the front of the store where they were setting up more cages of cats and there he was: Thatch!
He was three months old, orange and white, a little creamsicle of a kitten, and I was smitten. Cupid's arrow never pierced a heart with more alacrity. Five days later I brought him home. Happy Anniversary, Thatch!

Happy Gotcha Day to Thatch and Elmore

TCB I have front row seats to that Merrily production on December 4

I didn’t see Radcliffe when he did How to Succeed… but the Vixter did

I have tried to Wordle several times this morning, but the system keeps telling me I am "offline". Obiously, I am NOT offline or I wouldn't be posting here.
-
I had a blissful night of sleep. My dreams were inconsequential. I awakened only once to answer nature's call.
-
There is nothing much on my agenda today other than to worry about why my blood pressure elevates so drastically at the oral surgeon's office but remains well within the normal range here at home.
-
DR TCB, I may be wrong, but I think that production of Merrily We Roll along is off-Broadway.
-
Kitty cleanup is finished, the bed is made, and I will now take the garbage to the basement before I head over to the bank.
-
I did manage to watch the most recent "Downton Abbey" film on Amazon Prime yesterday. it moved along nicely and had a funny sort of Lina Lamont-ish storyline for the Abbey sequences when they let a movie company use the house for a film (and the money was what made it worthwhile).
I cannot presume that all of you have seen the film, so I won't throw in any spoilers other than to say it had some sadness to it.
The characters have aged believably while I remain the same as I was when I saw my first episode!!!!
-
Today, I must get my hair cut. Afterward, I shall lunch at Park Row No. 1 (which I have learned is an address, of sorts, and not an indicator that there are other Park Rows). The restaurant is on Courthouse Square, which is all i ever hear anyone call it, but there is a short street running in front, and that is what I presume to be Park Row, although there is no street sign.
After that I shall vote early!!!

HAPPY 100TH ANNIVERSARY
TO HOWARD CARTER
FOR FINDING THE TOMB OF
KING TUTANKHAMUN!!!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Isn't there a connection between Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) and the King Tut tomb?
-
What a wonderful photo, DR elmore3003. Happy Gotcha Day anniversary to Thatch!!!!!!!!
-
I still can't quite get over that fascinating video clip that DR John G. posted last night.

JAZZ ON TOAST POINTS!
-
BK - there is an album on iTunes called The Music of America: Inventing Jazz - Dave Brubeck which includes "Points on Jazz" credited to Russell Gloyd. All of the other performances on the album appear to be the originals. The credits say originally licensed 1956. I wonder if that could be the recording you're talking about?
-
Thrilled that DR elmore3003 is able to read again. I'm sure he is, too.
-
~!~~CONTINUED HEALING VIBES~~~ for former DR WFO!!
-
And one to grow on
-
TWO
-
Good morning, all.
-
That is such a great picture, DR Elmore. Happy anniversary!
-
I would love a BK release of that jazz album. And imagine pairing it up with a release of the Jerome Robbins one.
Well, one can dream... :)
-
It's Friday, and we're in store for a beautiful day and a beautiful weekend with the temperatures reaching 70. It might even feel like an actual Indian Summer, something we haven't enjoyed in recent years. I must get some outdoors laboring done, that much is certain.
-
I also look forward to attending Bat Boy at the local college tonight. I think this is the first time in close to 20 years that anyone's done it in this immediate area. It's one I'd enjoy tackling again.
-
I liked BAT BOY the only time I saw it - with the exception of a couple of cast members - but the show survived!
-
Happy Thatch Day!
-
I played it in 2003, just subbing for someone for a couple of weekends. Here's the pathetic photographic evidence of that band for your viewing hilarity.

A question for anyone here who might know:
How does one preserve (as a PDF, I'd guess) a copy of the digital programs (Playbill, etc.) that are still on my phone as a result of the QR code at the theeder?
IF you even know what I'm talking about. You might not, if you haven't attended anything live in the past year or so.
-
I wish I could like Penguin these days. Since they paid Amy the Liar Coney Barrett, I don’t want to have anything to do with them.

Yes, it's at the New York Theatre Workshop in the East Village

-
Bruce, how was David Naughton when you were recently in touch with him?
-
Onward!

Three!
-
Hard to believe a new musical opened on Broadway last night. The theater world seems to have given Almost Famous a collective yawn.
-
But Joni Mitchell was at the opening.

I liked BAT BOY the only time I saw it - with the exception of a couple of cast members - but the show survived!
I saw a local college production, and I didn't like it.
-
It wasn't a great production to begin with, so I don't know if it was just that production, or the actual show that I don't really care for. :-\

I know on my desktop computer, I can Print to PDF instead of a physical printer. Could that be an option on your phone?

Oh, my! He was only 64. :(
-
I'm up, I'm up - about three and a half hours of sleep.
-
Because I was up so much, I was able to forward all of the orders for the three CDs, so those are all shipping out over the next few days. And all the extant Indiegogo perks are now with the helper and she'll get those shipped out.

That's great. Can't wait!
-
Hey, that rhymes. ;)
-
Totally forgot I'm going to the theater tonight, with dinner beforehand. I was thinking about going back to bed, but I'm worried I'll sleep too late.
-
And tomorrow I have to be up early. I can sleep in a bit on Sunday.

Isn't there a connection between Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) and the King Tut tomb?
Yes, there is most definitely a connection.

DR TCB:
It has happened only twice...the last two (count 'em 2) scheduled dental surgeries.
I am perplexed.
I am exasperated.
I am completely overwhelmed.
Darn it.
-
Hugs, DR Ron Pulliam.
-
The DH has had this happen several times, but it was blood sugar, not blood pressure.
-
Either way, frustrating.
-
Love the photo, DR ChasSmtih!
-
BK, don't know if you saw my earlier post. Wondering if this could be the track you are talking about in today's Notes?
-
Thanks for the link, DR Ron Pulliam. I used to be an acquaintance of a (U.S.) descendent of one of the Carnarvons.
-
Well, we should be able to move this along.
-
With a nudge.
-
Four!
-
(4)
-
For?
-
We have a can company here with the phone number 444-4444.

Never mind the why or wherefore.

And tomorrow I have to be up early. I can sleep in a bit on Sunday.
I have to be up at 5:00AM

It is rather windy here and pouring rain.

My favorite film of Douglas McGrath was Nicholas Nickleby. Just a lively adaptation.
-
Fun map:
-
Yes, that's the orchestrated track.
-
DR CHAS SMITH there's some cuties in the band.
-
MR BK is working hard! Enjoy the theeder presentation this evening.
-
The viewing was SRO but I spoke to Vickie for a bit and saw some other lovely folks I hadn't seen in awhile.
-
Good that you could go, DR Jrand72.

I like the font.

I shall now be on my way to the bank, then to Doug Haverty's, then to dinner, then to see a show. I hope it's not too long.
-
It is finally cooling off here. It will make for better sleeping weather.
-
But the infernal time change looms.
-
A few weeks ago, there were 12 hours of day and 12 of night. Now we're up to 14 hours of nighttime.
-
Well, that's a few more posts, anyway.
-
Closer to a new page.
-
Like Five.
-

It has been pouring all day.
-
I suppose not getting out for a walk on a wet day is better than missing the sun.

We need to change our clocks before we leave tomorrow. If there is time.

I don't want to be confused when we return home.

Danny Kaye’s chicken salad. It’s what’s for dinner. He didn’t make it.
-
Gratuitous post 128!
-
Watching the rest of The Turning Point.
-
Danny Kaye’s chicken salad.
Isn't it a little stale?
-
I mean, he's been gone a while.
-
Is this from a celebrity cookbook?
-
Does it have Ethel Merman's aspic?
-
Danny Kaye’s chicken salad.
Isn't it a little stale?
;D
-
Is this from a celebrity cookbook?
It’s from Jacques Pepin’s new book, Art of the Chicken. I’m reading it now and want to make many of the recipes.
-
Does it have Ethel Merman's aspic?
Yikes. Sounds nasty. But Pepin talks a lot about making aspic from chicken
-
Keith has set his alarm for 4:30.
-
I guess I am getting up earlier than I expected.
-
I just hope this isn't one of those nights I don't fall asleep until 4:00.
-
Really though, the odds are neither of us will sleep well knowing we have to be up early.
-
Keith is popping corn tonight :)
-
I haven't had popcorn since he got sick.
-
I am looking forward to it.
-
I figured I would get some extra posts in as I don't know when I will be back.
-
'night

Saw Bill tonight. He sends his regards
That’s nice. Hope he’s getting better.
-
Starting The Lost City. I’m hoping it gets better. I do like Daniel Radcliffe.
-
Six!
-
Tonight we decided to order pizza.
-
Vixdad and I, I mean, not Bill and I
-
I went out to collect it rather than have it delivered.
-
The parking in front of the pizza place was full so I went around the block once and parked a couple of doors away, in front of the music store
-
I pulled up to the curb and as I was putting the gear into “park” , a teenager grabbed my back door handle and tried to open the car
-
I turned and yelled what do you think you’re doing?!
-
I was more than a little startled, as you may imagine
-
He tried again and I yelled “stop”!
-
I put the car back in gear and prepared to drive away
-
Then he showed me his phone, with his Uber app open
-
Oh,
no, I’m not an Uber
-
He walked away and then a car pulled up behind me and he got in
-
Only then did I notice he was carrying an electric guitar
-
The kid must have just finished his music lesson
-
The pizza was delicious
-
We had green peppers, mushrooms, Canadian bacon, Roma tomatoes and pineapple as toppings
-
Whoa, there, DR vixmom. You had me really scared for a few moments.
-
~~~EXCELLENT SAFE & EASY TRAVEL VIBES~~~ for DR Jane and DH Keith
-
Glad that you could visit with DR WFO, DR vixmom.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Whoa, there, DR vixmom. You had me really scared for a few moments.
I was simultaneously angry and scared
-
And hungry
-
Glad that you could visit with DR WFO, DR vixmom.
I’m not going to be able to see him tomorrow, I have a ticket to see the matinee of Cost of Living
-
It’s closing on Sunday
-
But I told him I’d call and check in from the train
-
Seems like a relatively nice place except he has a room mate now who seems to be a particularly cantankerous sod
-
They made everyone take a rapid Covid test before they could enter the facility proper
-
I was negative
-
Obviously
-
Since they let me in
-
But it got us to page seven
-
Seems like a relatively nice place except he has a room mate now who seems to be a particularly cantankerous sod
I guess that means he’s over the flu. Good news.
-
And now that you’re starting a career with Uber, Vixmom…
Just kidding. That was a scary story.
-
I wish I liked The Lost City more than I did. Oh, well …
-
On to Brad Pitt II, Bullet Train. The beginning is painful.
-
Back trom Hope Falls, W. Va.
I'd forgotten how "Appalachian" the setting and characters are.
Superb production all around.
-
Found four Christmas presents this week. Need about three more.
-
Bullet Train has both Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum in it. It’s slightly better than Lost City.
-
I'm home.
-
Tonight, I went to my mom's to play Phase 10, but my niece didn't feel like going, so she wasn't there.
-
Then, Dee (not my sister DeeDee) who also plays with us wasn't there either, so it was just me, my mom, and her friend Mona.
-
We played three games of Phase 10 and we each won a game!
-
And then I came home.
-
It's very windy right now, and my lights blinked a couple of times! :o
-
Hopefully, the power won't go out, but if it does, I have my Kindle and some flashlights to read with...or I could just go to sleep.
-
Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
We'll see how it goes!
-
Now, I need to ketchup on today's posts.
-
...so I shall. :)
~~~Ditto and Ditto!!~~~

Back from the opening night of 2:22. More in the notes, which I must now write.
-
...so I shall. :)
And I have.
-
...caught up on all of today's posts, that is.

Travel vibes for Jane and Keith
DITTO!
-
Our lights have not flashed at all. I think the wind was stronger this afternoon.
-
I went to the surgeon this afternoon. Never having been there, I parked in the first handicap space I saw. Unfortunately, it was at the other end of the building!
-
I arrived on time, but extremely wet.
-
The doctor is fairly young and nice looking. More important, he is very nice.
-
Big surprise! He says I have carpal tunnel.
-
He thinks he can fix me up with the wrist snip. One hand at a time, about four weeks between surgery. It was either that, or I would have to teach Sasha to wipe my rear end. Very doubtful.
-
Very strange. The nurse did not take my temperature, check my blood pressure, or take my pulse.
-
Wow! We just had a huge wind gush. It sounded like a freight train going by.
-
I watched an interesting show on Disney tonight. It was called TREVOR, THE MUSICAL. It was a bit hyper, but I enjoyed it, once I got used to the character of Diana Ross showing up (and singing the best songs in the show).
-
Our lights have not flashed at all. I think the wind was stronger this afternoon.
Things have actually settled down a bit here, so that's good.
-
Big surprise! He says I have carpal tunnel.
Finally, an official diagnosis!
-
Very strange. The nurse did not take my temperature, check my blood pressure, or take my pulse.
That is strange. They ALWAYS do those when I go to the doctor. :-\
-
Happy Anniversary, Larry! Great photo.
-
Ron, I hope they can figure out what is happening at the dentist. Maybe you have “the hots” for the nurse.
-
Last night, I finished reading, “Lord Knows, At Least I was There.” I didn’t enjoy it. Oh, I guess the book was okay, but I did not like Paul Ford.
-
I have caught up on posts. What up was doing on posts is another story.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen 'em and they're very ghostly.
-
They just are.
-
I've heard the Paul Ford book is just like Paul Ford - really negative.
-
I'd still like to read it, though.
-
I really would.
-
I've heard the Paul Ford book is just like Paul Ford - really negative.
That's too bad. :-\
-
No one can stop me.
-
Just try.
-
I feel page nine is just around the corner, like the shop.
-
You know who was ghostly? Alice.
-
She just was.
-
Very funny woman - a female Paul Lynde
-
Actually, Paul Lynde was a female Paul Lynde.
-
Last night, I finished reading, “Lord Knows, At Least I was There.” I didn’t enjoy it. Oh, I guess the book was okay, but I did not like Paul Ford.
So, he doesn't portray himself in the best light? Who would do that?? :o
-
Oh, look! It's Page Nine! :D
-
In the program for 2:22, the cast bios all include pronouns. I find that whole thing absolutely ridiculous and if I were an actor I would refuse to have it in my bio.
-
You know who was ghostly? Alice.
::)
-
;D
