Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a new book decision and it's a doozy, and now it is time for you to post until the decisive cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MOMENTOUS!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
I like several of those stack burger things - may have to take a little trip to DQ and have an Orange Julius whilst there.

I am home.

I've never actually ever had an Orange Julius.
-
I am home.
Welcome home, John!

Because the smoke detector wasn't quite annoying enough, just went to turn the shower on and the handle broke off. I managed to turn it by hand but it's really hard to do and you can't get the water temperature right. So, hopefully Grant can have his handy man come by and replace it.

Good morning, all!

BK, you're just catapulting from one disaster to the next!

DR George, the Beatles clip was wonderful. I have always loved their movie Help. I saw it the day it was released,
-
DR JohnG, did they manage to break up your kidney stone?
-
I slept rather well last night. I think Annabelle's getting over her cold. I wish I were.
-
I have no plans today. Some work would be nice.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Very sorry about your kidney stone, DR John G. I know personally how awful those can be.
~~~PAIN BEGONE VIBES~~~ for you!!!!!!
When will you know about whether this impacts your surgery?
I found Norman Dello Joio's Air Power score on iTunes. But not with Eugene Ormandy.
We also put the "ape" in apricot, but we don't talk about that.
We are getting the first day of a 3-day storm. Ice, snow, freezing rain.
-
I would like to see this new revival of Merrily We Roll Along.
-
My computer seemed to freeze up just when I posted and then left the house. I also wanted to send vibes to Elmore and TCB. Is anyone else sick?
-
Today I am expecting a young person to come and help me make some Christmas in my house.
-
Good morning, all.
Just stirring.
Also, I have been dreaming about kittens the last couple of nights. Maybe I need to foster again.
-
We just got our first Dairy Queen several months ago, and it’s about as close to my house as anything retail can be. But have I been there yet? No, because I am a FOOL. Of course I’ve intended to stop in and have something since day one…in particular, a cheeseburger just for old times sake because it will remind me of a few enjoyable car trips which were the only times I ever seemed to be at a Dairy Queen. And now I’m hearing about STACKBURGERS? Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something.
I would like to see this new revival of Merrily We Roll Along.
I wonder if they'll film it.
-
And speaking of filming shows, they did have one camera record the Agatha Christie mystery that I was in last month, but they said not to share the private link. :-\
-
But they didn't specifically say that we couldn't make our own DVDs/Blu-rays! Send me a PM with your address and let me know if you want a DVD or Blu-ray, and I'll send one to whoever wants one!
Things are moving right along here to Friday when we are expected to have a lot of s**w.
-
Survival vibes for DR singdaw.
-
I don't do a lot of streaming although of what I've seen this year, I like:
Peacemaker on HBO with Mr. John Cena.
A couple of the movies I mentioned yesterday were on streaming....but I think they were also in theeders.
I also liked THE LOW about the Murdaugh family and the murders and crime in South Carolina.
-
Page Three.
-
AND not only that Luka Garza was on the floor playing for Minnesota last night in the last few minutes of the game!
They play again tomorrow night, so hopefully we will see him again.
Do they have cherry-dipped cones? It’s a regional offering. I love them.
-
Thank y’all for the vibes.
-
Congrats to MR BK on choosing the book!
Hopefully he will have no more household disturbances today.
The Geminid meteor shower show begins tonight but other than that the stars are quiet.....pesky Mars and Neptune can influence mechanical things and electronics but this end by Friday with the 1st quarter of the moon.
-
I have never been disappointed by a Dairy Queen meal....and I love the BIG cone dipped in butterscotch!
-
It’s the 386th birthday of the National Guard. I don’t think I realized my dad had retired from the National Guard until after his death.
Drool. The peppermint bark blizzard is also quite good.
Listening to a coworker sing the National Anthem. She has the voice for it. Beautiful.
Another from the Show That Would Not Die Department: Will Chess be coming back to Broadway. Tim Rice hopes so.
I saw Carolee Carmelo as Florence. She was amazing. Show didn’t work. I have seen five ir six versions on YouTube. The script never works.
But I keep watching.
I just turned down the job offer. It looks like I will have to go to Louisville to move Mom out of her apartment. She’s not improving enough after the stroke to live independently. And I can’t afford an hourly job with no time off.
Oh, I'm so sorry, DR John G.
I saw the original Broadway production of Chess. I like the score a lot. The book has its problems.
Envious. Judy Kuhn was phenomenal on the recording. The bootleg video on YouTube has just magnificent singing in it.
Well, I hope that this is a good thing:
The Tony Awards Are Getting a New Home in 2023 (https://playbill.com/article/the-tony-awards-are-getting-a-new-home-in-2023)
Details have been revealed for the 2023 Tony Awards. This year's ceremony will be held June 11, 2023, at a new venue. For the first time in the awards' history, the 76th Annual Tony Awards will be hosted by the United Palace in New York City's Washington Heights.
-
Thanks DR Jrand. I did get a decent night of sleep.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep - arose at eleven-thirty and have been catching up with stuff.
-
Texted Grant - no response.
-
And I'm gone from 1:30 to 3:30
-
I really need this thing fixed.
-
These are, of course, not "disasters" - they are annoyances.
-
Page three is an annoyance. :)
-
Because we should absolutely be on page four if there weren't gaslighting and paprika going on here.
-
See? The minute you call out gaslighting, they gaslight you by changing the page.
From John:
Watching one of the weirdest cast movies I’ve ever seen. Charles Laughton, Robert Cummings and Deanna Durbin in It Started with Eve.
I always thought the casting was fun, but then I was fairly young when I first saw the film.
Quote from: TCB on Today at 12:01:50 AM
Vixmom, it was my friends Sharry and Michael were there to see Brad Oscar Sunday night. It would’ve been quite amazing if you had introduced yourself to Brad and then he would’ve met Sharry and Michael. Of course, you would probably still be talking to Sharry at this moment. She likes to chat.
From George:
Yes, she does! ;D But I've always enjoyed listening to her!
She is delightful :)
-
I like several of those stack burger things - may have to take a little trip to DQ and have an Orange Julius whilst there.
I've never actually ever had an Orange Julius.
They used to be much better. Even then, Stan of Stan's Donuts made the best ones.
-
Even better is the home made version I made using vanilla ice cream & orange juice.
-
I am home.
I suppose that is good.
-
Stone hasn’t passed yet.
Sending hugs and hoping it was best you didn't change jobs. I gather you had not mentioned the job offer at work yet.
STILL HAVING SURGERY VIBES ON MONDAY FOR DR JOHN!
I am unusual in that I am not a fan of Dairy Queen, which is fine because then I am not tempted to get ice cream there.
-
Unlike Bruce & Keith, I am not a fan of Thrifty ice cream, never have been.
-
Bruce what does a Thrifty ice cream cone cost these days?
-
Claire Keegan, an Irish writer I love, has written a short story called Foster. It’s published by itself and in 50 pages, it’s easily the best thing I have read this year. Breathtaking prose so exquisite that it makes you ache.
-
I read half of it while waiting for the painkiller to take effect.
-
No. Outside of my family here, I think I told only three or four others. I was going to wait on the background check first. But I stopped that today before it happened.
-
We went into a little ice cream shop in Tombstone. When I asked if they made their own ice cream I was surprised at the response. Their ice cream came from California, and not from a high end ice cream. It was Thrifty :o ;D
-
I sampled the chocolate malted crunch and thought it was rather bad.
-
Keith has always liked their ice cream so I figured he would be happy with his cone. He didn't think it was very good.
I am especially sorry for the reason you decided not to take the job.
I have not read anything by Claire Keegan.
VIBES FOR WFO!
-
Vixmom, how is Bill feeling?
-
Back from a lovely luncheon at the Coral Cafe - had a chicken salad sandwich and fries.
-
Picked up two screeners from the mail place.
-
Jane, looks like $2.65 for a single scoop.
-
It was $4.00 in Tombstone ;D
-
I'm now home for the duration - I'll watch one of the screeners tonight, although from what I've heard I probably won't like it - Tar.
-
Imported Thrifty's ice cream-hard to imagine.
-
I may have been looking at an older price list.
-
I'm not so far from a rather large new plateau.
-
Not far at all.
-
I can't imagine it is $4.00.
-
Is page six waiting in the wings?
-
Could be.
-
Who knows?
-
It was weird getting a Thrifty's cone in a regular cone vs the Thrifty's shape.
-
Handyman is here and working - I'm sure he'll then have to go find a replacement part.
-
He'll be back tomorrow with the replacement part - so, no shower tonight, which is fine.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Page six is waiting to make an entrance.
-
I sense it.
-
Or do I cents it?
-
I don't know.
-
Now I know.
-
Page six has made an entrance and page seven is waiting in the wings.
-
As am I.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
He'll be back tomorrow with the replacement part - so, no shower tonight, which is fine.
Tomorrow is fast.
-
I suppose that means you have one full bathroom in your home. How many bedrooms do you have?
-
Thank you for all your good wishes. I'm improving, but the progress is much slower than I expected. My head still hurts and is still tender where the bump is. Plus, my body is screaming, "What the HELL did you do to me?" I suspect I received a bit of whiplash; the blow almost pushed me to the ground.
-
I am majorly annoyed with my doctor's office. On Sunday the Nurseline nurse recommended that I be monitored in case the situation got worse and also strongly felt that I should call my PCP on Monday to explain what happened and see if he felt I should come in that day. I did so, but Cedars dropped the ball. I was clear that my doctor would want to know what happened and might want to see me ASAP, yet no one returned my call. A nurse was supposed to call me to get the message to the doctor, yet failed to do so. This is so typical! I'll be seeing my doctor tomorrow for a previously scheduled visit, but it really is important to be able to contact my doctor when the unexpected happens. They blew it.
-
John G, so sorry to hear your news: your mother's condition, your need to decline the job, and now the kidney stone. Mega vibes that things improve!
-
Elmore, very glad the billing problem was solved -- and quickly.
I once received a bill that I should never have received. I suspect there's some attempted fraud going on, especially where seniors are concerned. They think -- or hope -- we're all gaga and will just pay the bill.
-
Wow, you really did bang yourself hard. Vibes you begin to improve faster from now on.
That is bad. Did you also send a message to your doctor through the patient portal? I do realize that is supposed to be for non urgent communication.
Good luck with your doctor tomorrow.
Yes, back at work. I'm not 100%, but really quite a bit better.
-
I may not be working tomorrow, or here either, for that matter, as my Internet provider is doing "scheduled maintenance" in the neighborhood.
-
The town of Luverne, MN has more nutcrackers in it than people, due to an historical society collection.
-
How about THAT to start page seven?
-
Thanks for letting us know about Foster, DR John G.
-
Yes, back at work. I'm not 100%, but really quite a bit better.
Hopefully you will soon be 100%.
We were given a box of Belgian chocolates today.
-
The inside of each candy is a different flavored creamy chocolate.
-
One is orange flavored, not something I want.
-
Another one is raspberry. Again, not something I want.
-
Earlier I had a delicious white chocolate with coffee though I couldn't really taste the coffee flavor.
-
Just now, I had the best one, a dark chocolate with a caramel flavored filling.
-
The other six candies are all hazelnut.
-
Fortunately there is another layer for me to enjoy two more pieces.
-
All those hazelnut chocolates are saving me from eating too many of these.
What, no nutella? 8)
I can hear the ice rat-a-tat tatting on the windows from outside.
Sure glad I don't have to go out in it.
Good night, DR Jane.
-
I send an email tonight to a friend back in Connecticut whose husband died some years back. She had given us some of his dress jackets. I told her that we still wear them and that we think of them every time we do. She wrote right back and was delighted.
-
DR Laura I love your new avatar.
I do, too.
-
Watching Great Balls of Fire. It’s not great, but the musical numbers are filmed well.
-
These gals want to lay it on you.
-
What "it" is, I don't know, exactly.
-
Got it?
-
Oh, look:
-
Eight!!
-
Good night, friends.
-
Great Balls of Fire has become Small Pebbles of Boredom. The music has stopped, so has my interest.
-
WFO has covid and is under 10 day quarantine
Poor guy. Is he still in the rehab center?
He is, he’s been moved to the Covid ward now and I cannot visit
-
One is orange flavored, not something I want.
I’ll take that one…I love orange and chocolate
-
Another one is raspberry. Again, not something I want.
Oooh! I’ll be happy to take that one off your hands as well
-
George, can you PM me your address?
-
The other six candies are all hazelnut.
Ooooh, perhaps you should just send the entire box this way
-
That’s lovely
-
Recovery vibes for everyone!
-
Still watching Tar. Approaching the two-hour mark. Have no idea how much more is to come.
-
Since I only had the sandwich and fries, I'm thinking perhaps some Wor Wonton soup.
-
I shall look forward to the full TAR report from MR BK.
-
DR singdaw I just read a book called The War a companion to the Ken Burns PBS show....and Luverne MN was one of the towns featured in it.....
There were many WWII generals who decided to do things on their own and caused many men to lose their lives just get some glory fro themselves. I know that this wasn't reported in our history books....but it is much discussed now....including some generals that I thought were heroes.....and turned out not to be.....
-
Nor much on tv tonight.
I watched the last two episodes of The Way Down on HBO....the 5-part series about Gwen Shamblin Lara and her Remnant Religious Group.....she died in an airplane crash in May, 2021. Her husband Joe Lara (Tarzan in a tv series) was piloting the plane.
The final NTSB report has not be made....but it seems that he wasn't really skilled enough to be piloting the private jet....and that it was overweight with the luggage on board. All 7 folks aboard were Remnant officials and were flying to Florida for a MAGA event.
The plane crashed about 18 minutes after taking off diving head first into a lake where the water is about 8 feet deep....
Two and half of the episodes were completed when the crash occurred.....the rest of episode three and two more episodes were produced afterwards.
-
I can’t remember anything from current TV that I watched this year outside of Abbott Elementary and The Gilded Age, both okay.
-
I keep seeing ads for the movie about Whitney Houston and the woman playing her looks so OLD.....I remember when Whitney burst on the scene.
She was young and vibrant and a revelation and she couldn't be stopped......I don't think this can be captured in a movie with an actress that is about 15 years too old.....Whitney Houston was too unique and one of a kind to be imitated.
-
The woman looks like the actress who used to do Whitney on the old Fox show MAD Tv.....and not even that good.
-
I needed this today.
Love it!
It sounds like we need a round of vibes for almost everyone!
-
I always wonder...how many of those kinds of nutcrackers are actually usable??
-
TOD:
Meh! I haven't seen much of anything, I fear. Most of the titles up for the Yellow Globs I have read about but not seen. I barely recognize the names of nominated actors.
On the other hand, I love to watch old movies and love many that, in my opinion, have outlasted/outlustered/outclassed some that won Oscars in their respective years.
Awards, shmawards!
-
Are those fanciful ones ever made to actually crack nuts, or are they always only decorative? Just curious.
-
I send an email tonight to a friend back in Connecticut whose husband died some years back. She had given us some of his dress jackets. I told her that we still wear them and that we think of them every time we do. She wrote right back and was delighted.
That's so sweet!
-
George, can you PM me your address?
Yes, I can. :)
A co-worker once gave me one that was allegedly functional, along with a bag of nuts to crack. Would you believe it wouldn't crack a single one of the nuts (walnuts, if I remember correctly)? Ah, well.
-
George, can you PM me your address?
Yes, I can. :)
And I just did!
This looks easy. I may add cherries.
PAGE NINE DANCE!!
-
Nor much on tv tonight.
I watched the last two episodes of The Way Down on HBO....the 5-part series about Gwen Shamblin Lara and her Remnant Religious Group.....she died in an airplane crash in May, 2021. Her husband Joe Lara (Tarzan in a tv series) was piloting the plane.
The final NTSB report has not be made....but it seems that he wasn't really skilled enough to be piloting the private jet....and that it was overweight with the luggage on board. All 7 folks aboard were Remnant officials and were flying to Florida for a MAGA event.
The plane crashed about 18 minutes after taking off diving head first into a lake where the water is about 8 feet deep....
Two and half of the episodes were completed when the crash occurred.....the rest of episode three and two more episodes were produced afterwards.
Oh, my goodness! :-\
Alexa is very irritating. She won’t play an album from start to finish. She shuffles everything, and she won’t stick to the album you asked for.
Ooo...that looks really good!
-
I believe page ten is waiting in the wings.
-
As am I.
-
Had a cup of bland wor wonton soup and a couple of spotty egg rolls.
-
Just the right amount of food, though.
-
Finished Tar.
-
Too late to start another motion picture.
-
Am listening to Eugene Ormandy's early recordings on Columbia - what a conductor he was.
-
He isn't anymore on account of being dead.
-
Will I achieve the new plateau this evening.
-
Hard to know.
-
Certainly, I think page ten will make its entrance. I feel confident about that.
-
I have confidence in sunshine.
-
A little Brahms fourth is good for the soul.
-
Or the sole.
-
When in Rome, do as the French do.
-
That will confound everyone.
-
It certainly confounded me.
-
My darling friend Kelly Green Peterson, Oscar’s widow, send me a copy of the new cd release of a 1971 concert entitled “On A Clear Day”. And she also sent me a set of the gold commemoratives coins issued by Canada this year. They are beautiful!
-
The gold coins are commemorative of Oscar Peterson.
-
I didn’t know if that was self-explanatory or not.
-
I am feeling quite lonely on this page.
-
I am not sure how we are going to get to page 10 with just me posting.
-
John I am sorry that you had to turn down the new job. And I’m sorry your mother’s health has gotten worse. Thank goodness the kidney stone is getting better. I’ve had them myself they aren’t fun.
-
I used to get kidney stones about once every month. I haven’t had one in several years now. Knock on wood!
-
Counting down the seconds until midnight!
-
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
-
Oh wait. We’re too early for that.
-
That's so cool, Tom! I actually recently bought a commemorative coin, but it commemorated the Leaning Tower of Piza (not pizza).
-
There you go BK. I’ve gotten You to page 10
-
I am feeling quite lonely on this page.
To quote Sondheim, "No one is alone." ;)
-
~~~Vibes for No More Kidney Stones for Tom or John or Anyone!!~~~
-
To quote Sondheim, “Send In The Clowns.”
-
Oh wait. We’re too early for that.
Yup...much, Much, MUCH (that's three Muches) too early for the new year celebrations!
-
There you go BK. I’ve gotten You to page 10
And all the Hainsies and Kimlets thank you!
-
But where is BK?
-
But where is BK?
Maybe off hiding with Waldo.
-
BK is here, with paprika.
-
New notes are up.
-
The new Notes are up!
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
They resemble notes.
-
I've read them.
-
They're shorter than Tar.
-
And that's a good thing.
-
Listening to music.
-
Page ten is nothing to sneeze at and yet I just sneezed. As the wags say, go know.
-
Good night!
-
Did you know, for example, that in a violin concerto the violin plays a starring role?
-
Why "good" night. Why not GREAT night?
-
George, of course, has gone down some rabbit hole.
-
I will not be going down a rabbit hole.
-
But I do feel that page eleven is waiting in the wings.
-
As am I.
-
I'd hate to not let page eleven have an entrance after all that waiting in the wings.
-
That would be unseemly.
-
PAGE 11 LEANING TOWER OF PIZA DANCE!!

-
Okay, there's some serious gaslighting going on.
-
Page eleven has made an entrance and it was mighty impressive.
-
This is one side of the coin that I recently bought.
-
I have no coins other than pocket change.
-
Which I don't keep in my pocket.
-
I think maybe a little paprika might have perked up that wonton soup.
-
That was the obverse. Here's the reverse:

-
So bland.
-
Beyond bland.
-
Flavorless.
-
And the damn egg rolls were equally bland.
-
I think I'll do a Yelp review, the title of which will be Bland.
-
The Blands are the couple that eat Raoul in Eating Raoul, both the original movie and the musical.
-
Raoul wasn't bland...he was a sexy Mexican. ;)
