Well, you've read the notes, the notes have never been in Rome and haven't a clew what to do or not do, and now it is time for you to post until the Roman cows come home - or should that be the roamin' cows?
-
And the word of the day is: FORESIGHT!
-
Today at work, we're being given a staff appreciation luncheon for our department. It's being catered by a local Italian restaurant, so I'm sure it'll be pretty good.
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
This cold is working my last nerve. It sits like so much fish in the middle of my head and refuses to move. It's all in my sinuses, and the neti pot seemed to do nothing yesterday but piss it off.
-
I must attempt the laundry today, much as I prefer to lie down and do nothing. In fact, that sounds so much better that I may procrastinate. I am my mother's son, and she spent a lifetime putting off cooking and housework, I am still amazed that my brothers and I survived living in that house and avoided food poisoning, plagyes of vermin.
-
Today would have been my dad's 101st birthday. I still miss him.
-
Good morning.
-
If it makes you feel any better, Elmore, I'm still washing tablecloths from that party 10 days ago. I should just concentrate on it.
-
{{{hugs}}} DR elmore3003
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I'd like to try making that rustic cranberry galette.
-
But I'd add a secret ingredient:
-
Cranberries Paprika.
-
I didn't sleep very well last night due to excessive phlegm that keeps needing to be coughed up.
-
So I sympathize with you, DR elmore3003.
-
Being sick is just #NoFun.
-
Here's a Christmas kitten to make us all feel better.
-
There are several "Cat Versus Christmas Tree" video compilations circulating on the World Wide Web that are most amusing.
-
Good morning
-
That was a beautiful coin you posted George
-
I woukd be very interested to see your coins, TCB
-
That was not a euphemism
-
Tonight is our office holiday dinner
-
We are being taken to a very upscale steak place
-
So I must make extra effort in my dressing today
-
We mostly just wear jeans and sneakers in this office
-
Vibes for everyone
-
Wordle awaits
-
That was not a euphemism
;D

~~~CONTINUED STRONGEST MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES AND XYLOPHONES~~~ for BK!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if Her First Roman did as Romans do whilst in Rome.
That may have been the longest it ever took me to Wordle
-
Ok I had better go get ready
-
Good morning, all.
-
Wordle 3, Phoodle 4.
-
Tired. Since the trip to the clinic in the middle of the night, my sleep patterns are off.
-
I have to dress to usher tonight. Not going to a steakhouse with Vixmom.
-
But the evening should be fun. A jazz band is doing A Charlie Brown Christmas.
-
Good morning, all.
-
DR singdaw, it was those wonderful cat vs Christmas tree videos that made me decide not to get a tree. Last night, I turned out the lights at 9:00. Around 9:30 there was a crash behind me. I had to get out of bed and turn on the light. Annabelle had climbed into the bookcase to lie on my MacBook, which I store while it charges in the bookcase behind my bed. Getting there, she knocked several books onto the floor.
-
Nope. No trees, DR Elmore. :)
-
Someday I should go to Rome just to figure out what it is Romans actually do.
-
I’ve seen a few Fellini films and Argenti giallos, so maybe I already know all there is to know.
-
Happy Wednesday to one and all! There's a BONUS EPISODE of the Broadway Radio Show up on the site today...I am joined by the always wonderful Liz Callaway to discuss her new live album To Steve With Love: Liz Callaway Celebrates Sondheim. It's a delightful conversation and, of course, you'll hear plenty of tracks from the album...ENJOY!
-
Wonderful, DR Donald!
-
Snow is falling,
Pies are calling...
-
Wednesday morning greetings! I spent much of yesterday with some retired librarian friends. We were all academic library administrators back in the early 1980s.
-
DR John G, I’m so sorry about all you’re dealing with right now.
-
DR Elmore, remember I was looking forward to seeing a local production of Meredith Willson’s “Miracle on 34th Street”? Well, it’s been canceled due to illness in the cast.
-
I'm thinking of pulling out Grandma's old recipe for Paprika Pie.
-
Surviving the ailment vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
I like DR LAURA's new avatar!
-
Steak house party vibes for DR VIXMOM. If they ask if anyone plays the saxophone raise your hand and give it a try!
Appreciation Italian lunch vibes for DR GEORGE - and remember the saxophone.
-
I learned that when I used to go to group auditions....if they asked for someone who could do something - I always raised my hand.
And I got a few notes out of the saxophone and got into the cast...although I didn't play the saxophone in the show.
-
DR Elmore, remember I was looking forward to seeing a local production of Meredith Willson’s “Miracle on 34th Street”? Well, it’s been canceled due to illness in the cast.
For every good song in the score, there’s a real groaner.
Arm in arm …
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe. Five hours of sleep. May try for more, but have no idea when the handyman is actually coming.
-
I'll have to pass on the saxophone (you'll thank me), but I will say I've been spending some time getting SPARKLEJOLLYTWINKLEJINGLEY into shape on the pianny.
-
(High school "Candlelight" concerts next week -- my final gig of the year.)
-
From DR Singdaw:
I send an email tonight to a friend back in Connecticut whose husband died some years back. She had given us some of his dress jackets. I told her that we still wear them and that we think of them every time we do. She wrote right back and was delighted.
I am sure your email made her feel good.
-
From DR Vixmom:
I’ll take that one…I love orange and chocolate
I ate the solid dark chocolate around the the soft chocolate filling. I got a little bit of the orange flavoring. You would have liked it.
-
DR Vixmom I wish I could send you the raspberry one. I really shouldn't eat anymore of these.
-
From Vixmom:
Ooooh, perhaps you should just send the entire box this way
LOL, except for the two that I can eat and like ;)
Keith did have a hazelnut one. I don't know if he will eat any more of them because he has great willpower.
-
DR George your coin is nice. I preferred the back side to the front.
-
That reminds me, sitting on my desk is a nice keychain from Tombstone Keith found.
-
One day I will actually mail the keychain.
-
Today would have been my dad's 101st birthday. I still miss him.
Cute!
-
Vixmom, enjoy your Christmas dinner tonight.
-
Dreaming....
-
That was a beautiful coin you posted George
Thanks, Vixmom. I agree!
-
We are being taken to a very upscale steak place
Cool. Can you order extra to take home? ;)
-
But the evening should be fun. A jazz band is doing A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Nice! That music is some of my sister's favorite!
-
Maybe he just needs a Christmas tree that's hung from the ceiling:
DR Elmore, remember I was looking forward to seeing a local production of Meredith Willson’s “Miracle on 34th Street”? Well, it’s been canceled due to illness in the cast.
That's too bad.
-
Steak house party vibes for DR VIXMOM. If they ask if anyone plays the saxophone raise your hand and give it a try!
Appreciation Italian lunch vibes for DR GEORGE - and remember the saxophone.
Thanks, Jrand! However, I don't think music will be provided, and what I have here myself isn't exactly what anyone else would be interested in hearing.
-
DR George your coin is nice. I preferred the back side to the front.
Thanks, Jane. Either side is really nice in person.
-
That reminds me, sitting on my desk is a nice keychain from Tombstone Keith found.
Thanks so much!
-
One day I will actually mail the keychain.
Obviously, there's no rush. ;)
-
Good afternoon.
-
An hour after I dropped Daughter off at work, she was told she could work from home today. It would have been nice if they had told her that yesterday.
-
My DH has apparently rick-rolled himself again.
-
Because I am hearing that song coming from the bedroom.
-
I only have one working outlet in the laundry room, so I can only do one load at a time. I have to keep unplugging the washer and dryer and alternating.
-
DR Ginny, I'm with DR JohnG; the Here's Love score is pretty bad. The best song is "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas," and Willson wrote it twenty years before the show was even thought of.
-
I paid a few bills and spoke to Sereka, Dr Vadada's assistant. She says I won't see the second cataract surgery till the middle of January. I also called Joshie. I want to go into City Center on Monday and work on Dear World with him.
-
That was a beautiful coin you posted George
Thanks, Vixmom. I agree!
It really is very pretty.
;D
Wow, I'm not sure about that one ;D
-
DR George your coin is nice. I preferred the back side to the front.
Thanks, Jane. Either side is really nice in person.
And in the photos.
-
One day I will actually mail the keychain.
Obviously, there's no rush. ;)
LOL, it might be after the holiday rush unless I have to buy stamps.
-
An hour after I dropped Daughter off at work, she was told she could work from home today. It would have been nice if they had told her that yesterday.
::)
Why today vs any other day?
Did you go back and pick her up?
-
I only have one working outlet in the laundry room, so I can only do one load at a time. I have to keep unplugging the washer and dryer and alternating.
I would find that frustrating.
-
I am busy ordering Freyja's Christmas gift. She already has her Chanukah gifts.
-
I paid a few bills and spoke to Sereka, Dr Vadada's assistant. She says I won't see the second cataract surgery till the middle of January. I also called Joshie. I want to go into City Center on Monday and work on Dear World with him.
Dear World, that’s a score I love.
If music is no longer lilting…then I don’t want to know.
-
Mom’s main physical therapist said today he has seen no improvement since she arrived at rehab about 15 days ago.
-
If loving it is wrong, you don't wanna be right?
-
That is discouraging, DR John G. I'm sorry.
-
Mom’s main physical therapist said today he has seen no improvement since she arrived at rehab about 15 days ago.
None, this must be very discouraging :(
-
Handyman is here and being handy.
-
I'm eating Wacky Noodles.
-
When he's done and when I'm done, I'll then go to the mail place to pick up some packages.
-
Oh my, a bit new plateau is coming in four postings.
My jiglet isn’t happening until this stone passes.
Even my jello ain’t giving a jiglet.
But congratulations, BK, on your jiggy new plateau.
.
With paprika on top.
-
Congratulations, BK!!!!!!
I saved a screen shot, but the forum is not letting me post it.
-
Oh - there it is. But so small!
-
Here's (hopefully) a larger version:
Whew! It worked!
Congrats, BK, on your momentous milestone moment!!
Good evening!
I saw my PCP today. He checked me out and found no problems aside from the bump on my forehead. We talked about protocols and what should be done in a case like this. He wasn't happy about the way things we handled at his office.
-
Vibes to all. I can't keep my eyes open, so
TTFN.
-
DR Jeanne I am pleased with your doctor's response, and that there aren't any problems from having had your bead banged.
-
Glad to hear that you are OK, DR Jeanne.
-
Thanks for checking in.
-
I never lost Internet connection today, so I was able to work a full, regular day.
-
I hope that doesn't mean that Xfinity has pushed off the work in the area until tomorrow, a key enrollment deadline for work.
-
Medici.tv has a production of La Boheme from the Paris Opera dubbed "La Boheme in Space"; it takes place (or at least starts) set on a spaceship.
-
If you have access to BBC Opera on 3, which you can access through the BBC app, you can listen to The Hours until mid January.
-
I don't know how long it may take the Met to recover from the technology attack, for which they reportedly paid the ransom, but their systems are still not restored.
-
Food for thought:
Bugs Bunny accidentally transformed the understanding of the word nimrod into a synonym for idiot because nobody got the joke when he sarcastically compared Elmer Fudd to the Biblical figure Nimrod, a mighty hunter.
-
COVIDTests.gov will start taking orders for free test kits again starting tomorrow.
-
My friend Jerry with whom I had lunch a week ago Monday called today to say on the Tuesday following he tested positive again for Covid.
I have had no symptoms but I tested later day and am negative. He has been boosted but still contracted Covid again.....for the third time since August.
-
I am glad to hear the response of DR JEANNE's PCP.
-
I can't seem to post images here now.
-
Many of you will no doubt be sighing with relief.
-
Well, just a few more posts
-
Should do it
-
Carrying us inexorably forward
-
With breahtless anticipation
-
To six.
-
Good night, friends.
-
'night
-
Finished one movie, starting another. I'll just say that FINALLY I've seen a good picture.
-
My friend Jerry with whom I had lunch a week ago Monday called today to say on the Tuesday following he tested positive again for Covid.
Oh, no!
-
I believe I am overtired.
-
I believe that page seven is waiting in the wings.
-
As am I.
-
I believe in miracles - and could use a few before my head explodes.
-
I believe I am watching yet another critics' darling of a movie, Everything Everywhere All At Once - it is giving me a headache. I'm not a fan of these meta, "cool" "hipper than hip" movies that go on relentlessly - this one for apparently 140 minutes. The directors brag how they had an idea for a film about the metaverse - that's enough to keep me far, far away from this kind of hipster movie - or as one critic raving put it - a stoner's delight. Well, I'm not a stoner. Oh, well. And I find the distributor, claiming that this thing has grossed over 100 million bucks is, well, something a stoner would try to claim.
-
We are NOT very far on page six.
-
We're not even halfway to page seven or paradise.
-
Everyone is everywhere all at once.
-
Perhaps people are twiddling their proverbial thumbs?
-
The Secret of Christmas (from the film "Say One for Me").
It's not the glow you feel, when snow appears
It's not the Christmas card, you've sent for years
Not the joyful sound, when sleigh bells ring
Or the merry songs, children sing
The little gift you send, on Christmas day
Will not bring back the friend, you turned away.
So may I suggest, the secret of Christmas
It's not the things you do, at Christmas time
But the Christmas things you do all year through.
Songwriters: Sammy Cahn, Jimmy Van Heusen. For non-commercial use only.
-
We're not even halfway to page seven or paradise.
Perhaps you must build a stairway?
-
I am home
-
My goodness but there was a lot of food
-
I would regale you all with tales of all I did today.
It would take all of 3 minutes, sad to say.
Well, actually...I did put up a wreath on the front of my house. It's a rather large wreath (48 inches wide for a double door) with 140 lights.
I don't have a double door, but have a large white expanse between my living room and dining room windows, so I hung it there in the middle.
It looks so very beautiful. I fear now that it might get stolen.
Oh, well.
-
The evening started with two gigantic towers of seafood as appetizers, clams and oysters on the half shell, prawnsm whole lobsters, snow crab legs, whole crabs …
-
Then there were sliders and sushi and hot wings
-
None if which I sampled
-
Then there were salads
-
Which I likewise ignored
-
I did have 3 prawns and a lobster claw and one snow crab leg
-
Then dinner at arrived
-
A huge Filet mignon
-
Grilled asparagus, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, mushrooms in a brandy sauce,
-
I ate half my filet and wrapped the other half along with mushrooms and asparagus
-
It will make a wonderful lunch tomorrow
-
There was lots of Cabernet saviogn
-
I had a tiny bit with my steak
-
Dessert for me was crème brule
-
Others had chocolate mousse cake or raspberry sorbet
-
There were cappuccinos and dessert drinks but I did not partake
-
The restaurant is only a bout 15 minutes from home and I self parked
-
The line for the valet was huge
-
I was probably home before some of these people saw their cars
-
I am full to bursting
-
And very content
-
Now I'm hungry.
-
My late question for ASK BK DAY is:
Did you watch The Mickey Mouse Club back in the day - did you have a favorite Mouseketeer - did you have a favorite serial on the series.
I guess that's three questions.
-
Nice dinner, Vixmom.
-
Listening to Christmas Mornings, by that Brent fellow.
-
The concert tonight was excellent. My favorite was Beethoven’s Fur Elise given a Sing, Sing, Sing kind of big band arrangement. Also liked Duke Ellington’s Dance of the Sugar Rum Cherry.
-
Good night, all.
-
I was so zonked that I got into bed at eight, fell asleep instantly, and just woke up. Must write some notes.
-
Jrand, yes, I watched The Mickey Mouse Club - not religiously, but a lot in its first year or so. I think I had a little crush on Darleen.
-
I think page eight is waiting in the wings.
-
As am I.
-
Gratuitous Post #200!
Well, this will be interesting...How Disney reinvents and celebrates Beauty and the Beast with an anniversary special (https://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/how-disney-reinvents-and-celebrates-beauty-and-the-beast-with-an-anniversary-special/ar-AA15hpuK).
I didn't even know that this was happening, so I'll definitely set my DVR to record it, since I'll be at tomorrow's performance of Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol.
-
Here's Josh Groban as the Beast:
-
Um, did I not say page eight is waiting in the wings?
-
Did I not say that.
-
Loudly.
-
I had to write notes and we had exactly three posts in all that time it took to write them.
-
Well, I don't think we should leave old page eight in the wings, sad and lonely.
-
I just don't think we should.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
Page eight has entered laughing.
-
I've seen the new notes with my very own eyeballs.
-
I've read them.
-
Page nine will not be making an entrance - I feel pretty safe in making that statement, since George has gone down a rabbit hole, and TCB hasn't shown up.
-
How can we be halfway through December already?
-
Riddle me that one.
-
This month is flying by, like a gazelle in heat.
-
Have you ever seen a gazelle in heat? It's not pretty.
-
I think I'll take a quick shower.
-
Maybe that will stop the drip once it's on and then off.
-
One never knows.
-
Sometimes two and three never knows, but mostly it's one that never knows.
-
George, come out of that damn rabbit hole you're in.
-
I am a frenzy of one and as we all know, one never knows.
-
I am a majority of one, too. Or should that be one, two.
-
I don't know.
-
Guess I'll mosey on over to the new topic and get that going.
-
It's the right thing to do at one in the morning.
-
At one in the morning, it's the right thing to do.
-
I have no idea what I'll feel like eating today.
