Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a remake of a classic notes, and now it is time for you to post until the remade cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FIDGETY!
-
Happy Birthday Chas!!
-
I woke myself up with a series of loud sneezes
-
I don’t have to wake up for at least another hour yet here I am
-
I fell asleep pretty much immediately after posting last night
-
Well I’ll retry yo get back to sleep
-
Laters
-
Good morning, all!
-
We are due for more rain today. I feel as if I were living in the monsoon season.
-
DR vixmom, it sounds like your dinner was a huge success. I'm not a big steak eater; I would have worked on the seafood extravaganza.
-
I slept rather well. There was no visit from Stella, but Thatch seemed very happy to come by several times to cuddle, and faithful Annabelle seemed content to stay on her pillow with me.
-
Today is laundry day. It must be done.
-
Thursday morning greetings! I did nothing productive yesterday, but Richard did take me for a belated birthday lunch at the Cheesecake Factory.
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR ChasSmith!
-
Happy Birthday felicitations to our DR ChasSmith!
-
I have never seen Ikiru, but I would like to see both it and Living.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Sure enjoyed reading all about DR vixmom's great FEAST.
-
I don't have a life. I live vicariously through all of you.
-
We are supposed to get about 8 inches of snow today.
-
Perhaps I'll put on Sandy Bainum's and/or Brent Barrett's Christmas albums.
-
Would love to see a photo of your wreath, DR Ron Pulliam.
-
We need a little Christmas now.
-
I slept better last night.
-
I had a little more sleep
-
Now enjoying a cup of coffee in the recliner
-
Then I’ll just doze off again…..
-
Never mind
-
It’s Thursday
-
Guess I’ll Wordle and wander to work
-
Good morning, all.
-
Happiest of birthdays, ChasSmith!

Happy Birthday to our DR Chas!!
-
In spite of the fact that it's birthday season here again and we all knew this was coming, it's still hard to believe that today I'm...
Well, I don't think we need to mention any numbers, do we? 8)
But it was nevertheless nice to wake up to reading BK's greeting in the notes this morning, Thank you, sir!
-
A VERY VERY HAPPY HHW BIRTHDAY WISH FOR OUR VERY OWN DEAR DR CHASSMITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Happy Birthday Chas!!
Thank you, ma'am!
-
I can't post my usual virtual birthday cake because the site is not allowing me to post images.
-
But it is there in spirit.
-
vixmom, that dinner you were treated to was to die for. I know I would have done it justice. :)
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR ChasSmith!
Thank you, DR Ginny!
-
Happy Birthday felicitations to our DR ChasSmith!
Thank you, DR Elmore!
And thank you for the beautiful music I've been enjoying so far this season.
-
Happiest of birthdays, ChasSmith!
Thank you, DR John G.!
Continued vibes for yourself, too!
-
As much as I love a good filet mignon, I would have had to pass on it, and focus of the seafood and the salads. Maybe i could have taken a steak, wrapped it in a napkin, and sold it to a homeless person.
-
What kind of birthday cake or pie lies in store?
I believe this year's is be a small dark rich moist fudgey chocolate cake.
-
Happy Birthday to our DR Chas!!
Thank you, DR TCB!
Continued vibes to you, too, and I hope to hear of some hand surgery in the near future.
-
A VERY VERY HAPPY HHW BIRTHDAY WISH FOR OUR VERY OWN DEAR DR CHASSMITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, DR singdaw!
And the here-in-spirit cake is appreciated, not a problem.
-
Happy Birthday to our DR Chas!!
Thank you, DR TCB!
Continued vibes to you, too, and I hope to hear of some hand surgery in the near future.
January 13 is the first hand surgery!
-
My schedule this fall and early winter has been so ridiculously insane that I had every episode of 9-1-1 going back to mid-September stacked up on my DVR, and we've been enjoying bingeing on them these past couple of nights. The rest will have to wait till a week from now when I am finally done with everything, but the relaxed ketchuping has been mighty enjoyable.
DR Jrand72: Are you still watching it?
-
Happy Birthday to our DR Chas!!
Thank you, DR TCB!
Continued vibes to you, too, and I hope to hear of some hand surgery in the near future.
January 13 is the first hand surgery!
Excellent.
I believe that's about the time DR Elmore will be getting his second eye done. And about the time I'll finally be having the consultation for mine own eyes.

The Seattle Seahawks are playing on Thursday Night Football starting at 5:00 p.m. today, but I doubt it will finish before the start of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST at 8:00 p.m. I guess I will have to figure out what to do when the time comes.
-
I have BEAUTY set to record.
-
Cocktail party tip:
Look the stranger straight in the eye and say firmly, "Hot Potato!" and then walk away.
-
And it is on Disney starting tomorrow.
-
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
-
Look! DR TCB started page three!
-
Congratulations, sir.
-
I am just sitting here, eating my
gruel oatmeal.
-
Congratulations, sir.
Thank you kind sir!
-
And imagining myself at DR vixmom's holiday repast last evening.
-
I should have some apple slices, or some coffee.
-
In that picture posted of Josh Groban, you might say he's in the belly of the beast.
-
Or both.
-
Oatmeal is very plain.
-
I don't add anything to it.
-
Which is just as well, since I still can't taste anything.
-
I wonder how long it is before my tastebuds wake up again.
-
I just looked it up on Google. It looks like it can take 4 weeks.
-
I have a hunch, that the BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, may be somewhat of a disappointment.
-
Be my guest.
-
Put my service to the test.
-
I'm a pest.
-
I don't think that last line is actually in the show.

My friend Keith Geckeler, with whom I went to school from grades 1-12, is a minister in the San Francisco area. Recently, he shared with a storytellers group at his church a piece titled "I Grew Up" which is a series of one sentence vignettes from childhood. It was on Zoom and someone recorded it and posted it on You Tube. Keith's wonderful portion, beginning at 36 minutes, catches everything about growing up in Middletown in the 1950s.

It's a little lumpy, but it RINGS.
-
That's wonderful, DR elmore3003. I'll bookmark that for later.
-
Let's get this road on the show.
-
Let's button our britches.
-
Let's put on a 10-gallon hat.
-
Let's butter our noodles.
-
And noodle our butters.
-
Let's dance the hoochey-koochey.
-
Let's pin the tail on the donkey.
-
That's wonderful, DR elmore3003. I'll bookmark that for later.
That sounds a bit condescending!

I'm doing the same, because this day is already getting busy and I'll watch when I can relax and enjoy it properly.

It certainly wasn't intended that way. It's just that I'm logging into work right now.

I only listened to Keith’s part, but it was funny and wistful and wise. Except for the “stupid” cats remark.

A thing of beauty is a job forever.....is what I heard DR singdaw.
-
DR ELMORE that's a nice video.
-
Today is laundry day. It must be done.
I took today off so that I have less than 240 hours of vacation before going into the new year (I'm also taking off the day before New Year's Eve day). I think today will include some laundry doing, too.
-
We are supposed to get about 8 inches of snow today.
:o
-
I have to say that I started to watch Everything Everywhere All At Once and only got through about 30 minutes.....I don't think I am young, hip, and with it enough to be the audience for this.....film.
-
I shall have to think about remakes.....hmmmmmm......
-
Perhaps I'll put on Sandy Bainum's and/or Brent Barrett's Christmas albums.
Certainly can't go wrong with either and/or both of those!
-
MR BK your favorite Mouseketeer Darlene Gillespie spent time in the slammer for a wire fraud she and her then husband were involved in...she also sued Walt Disney because he promised he would make her a star.....and she was eclipsed by Annette. Darlene swore that all of Annette's fan mail came from members of her extended Italian family back in Utica.
Her sister Gina was in several movies - most famously as the young Blanche in Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?.....
-
I loved the original Ikiru. Saw it on a Christmas night about 25 years ago. Just magical, but it could have lost maybe 10 minutes.

Horrible remakes I’ve actually seen:
A Room with a View
Babes in Toyland
The Manchurian Candidate
-
I love Kurosawa, but I seem to be delinquent on Ikiru. I wonder why. And I see I even own it! Something shall have to be done about this.

Every remake after the Laurtel & Hardy Babes in Toyland is a disaster. As for the other two, I deliberately passed on them.

Every Robin Hood after the Errol Flynn is a letdown, although I do love the Disney version with Richard Todd.

Not that they were literally digging shins.

Perhaps.

DR Vixmom your office dinner sounds nice.

I could have eaten the salads & veggies.

I hope they offered a white wine as well, not that I could have had any if I was driving.

Some idiot moron made a fake page for Square One, which was the name of the musical Sondheim was working on when he died. Saying the show was coming to Broadway in the fall of 2023 starring Nathan Lane and Bernadette Peters. Never mind that the thing looked completely amateur, this moron created accounts on Instagram and Twitter (welcome to Elon Musk's world - if you're on Twitter, get off) and EVERYONE but a handful of people believed it. Until it was proven to be just as fake as it looked and that was confirmed by Peters, the Sondheim estate, and everyone else. The question is, how is this hoaxer exposed and ridiculed to the world at large, and more importantly, how pathetic do you have to be to do this?

I terminated my Twitter account yesterday.

Well, goddam it all to hell. This weekend I ordered a few gifts to be shipped on two different orders with a company. Yesterday, I notocede in my bank account online that the company had charged me a thirtd time for $39.15. I tried to call them, got warned there was a long wait, so I emailed them. No response.
Just now a second charge has appeared on my bank account to the same company for $178+. So, I called my bank, closed my debit card, and sent the company a second email. not so nice as yesterday's inquiry, notifying them of a second bad charge and telling them to go fuck themselves. For a major company, their customer service is shit.

So who's lining up to buy the Orange One's digital trading cards? ;D

We are expecting our first big snow storm tomorrow. I am not looking forward to it as I've been totally spoiled this winter. It is mid-December and there is no snow on the roads/ground/grass. And I am still wearing shoes outside.

Happy Birthday DR Chas!
-
Happy belated birthday to BK! I didn't realize that I hadn't been on HHW all week. Hope you had a great day. I'm going to go back and read all of the posts.

-
Would someone win MegaMillions for me, please?

It's not cold today. It's 40F.

I had to call the Fort Vancouver for them to change my information.

DR LAURA - the Laura in the ANNETTE serial on the MMC was played by Roberta Shore.
She was a rich girl who falsely accused Annette of stealing her expensive birthday present - a necklace.
But in the last episode, she turned out to be nice....and the necklace was found in the piano.

On This Day in 1939, Gone With the Wind premiered.

There's Laura in the T-bird with Tim Considine.
Read all about it here:

DR Jane and DR Jrand72 know the secret to posting photos, apparently.

It's not cold today. It's 40F.
It is 41 degrees here, supposedly going up to 45.

It was 31 degrees when we left for the gym and I was wearing shorts.
-
I would not normally wear them at 60 degrees, unless it was sunny.
-
I will put on my fleeced lined pants and bundle up for our afternoon walk.

The Trump Announcement was so pathetic and I'm sure his followers are all buying this scam like they do all his others. No candidate for president should ever be allowed to do this, so perhaps someone will take him to task and say, no, you're not running for president, fella.

That's great, BK!

So no more drip, drip, drip.

Listening to Bob Dylan’s Philosophy of Song, or whatever it’s called. His likes are interesting. His praise for Perry Como is exceptional. He loves Bobby Darin’s voice.
-
But he has some oddities in there. Comparing Porgy and Bess to Threepenny Opera, he says both are plays with songs, not operas.
-
He describes Tutti Frutti as being a song about a gay man and says Sue and Daisy are transvestites, which most people who covered the song never got. Except Pat Boone.
-
It’s all pure opinion, and Dylan’s purely opinionated. In other words, it’s fun.
-
Congrats to MR BK on the banishment of the drips.
-
According to one review I read, he thinks of Eliza Doolittle as a harlot. Interesting interpretation. She might have been selling more than her flowers.
-
I'm sure that is the case DR LAURA because one episode involving Annette and Laura was titled Almost A Hair Pulling Fight!
-
Page Nine.

Waiting for the snow to start......

Here is a story that I would like to share with my friends here at HHW.
My sister and her husband were married on December 9, 1972. Earlier this year, their oldest daughter Amanda started to get a party together for them in celebration. In the meantime - their daughter Emily and her husband had Paula & Larry's first grandbaby - daughter Audrey in August. So after the baby was born - the date of the party was set for December 23. That is so that Emily & Ryan & Audrey could travel to Indiana and be present for festivities.
End part one.
-
Larry - Paula's husband - has a brother named Alan. He is a couple of years older.
Alan and his wife Jeanne were married on January 9, 1973. It was a lovely wedding.
And now Alan has decided to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary with a party on December 18.
There is of course overlapping of friends and acquaintances so that those folks who haven't seen each for many years - will have all met up and reminisced about EVERYTHING just 4 days before Larry & Paula's event.
Alan's reason - his sister in law (wife Jeanne's sister) is leaving for Florida and he wants her and her husband at the party.
End Part Two.
-
I think Alan is an ass.
I have thought so before - but this is just further confirmation.
The End.
P.S. I am NOT invited to the first party even though I coordinated the wedding and helped with the reception which turned out very nice. Not that I would even consider going.
-
But it’s about ME, JRand!
-
Exactly DR JOHN G.....exactly.
-
Okay, posting photos should be okay - something was stuck and he had to restart the server. Someone give it a go.
-
BINGO!!!
-
Alan is an ass. There should be a banner in silver and gold lamé.
-
Get on that, DR Jrand72.
-
Bingo II

A helpful reminder

Are the batteries included?

The handyman made a miracle - he took the valve from the bathtub, which I never use, but which is the exact same faucet thing, and put it in the shower - voila, everything is perfect. The one that's coming in five days will go back to the tub.
Good for the handyman.
-
The Trump Announcement was so pathetic and I'm sure his followers are all buying this scam like they do all his others. No candidate for president should ever be allowed to do this, so perhaps someone will take him to task and say, no, you're not running for president, fella.
I seemed to have missed whatever he did now.
-

To clarify, you were not invited to the party on the 18th. You will be attending the party on the 23rd-yes?
-
Yes DR JANE that is correct.
Invitations to the event on the 23rd were mailed late last month - the impromptu celebration was announced via an email blast last week.
-
Now it is time for a hour long holiday episode of GHOSTS!
-
Trying to watch a movie called Women Talking. The title is VERY accurate.
-
Yes DR JANE that is correct.

Is Larry upset with Alan? I would think so.
-
If people are only accepting one even I do hope it will be the one on the 23rd.
-

Anything to bilk his fans...followers...cash cows. ::)

So no more drip, drip, drip.
Drip, drap, drop?
No more Blee Blop Blues (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsAgmkkRQ_g)! ;D

What a great idea, Larry! ;)
-
Oh, look! We've reached Page 10! And what a Page 10 Dance it is! ;D
-
I'm not sure what Larry feels about it.....and it probably will never be discussed with me.
-
No s**w yet.
-
I did enjoy most of the movies on DR JOHN G's list of remakes.....
-
The Night of The Iguana is coming up on TCM.....
-
Did I see that Attack of the 50 Foot Woman is getting a new Blu Ray release?
-
I just woke up with a cramp, jumped out of bed and saw it was 6:20. I thought it was morning.
-
I am glad it isn't tomorrow as I am still very sleepy.
-
SQUIRREL!!
-
I was reading when I fell asleep.
-
The book is interesting, I just needed a short nap. If only the foot cramp had let me nap a wee bit longer.
-
I am reading I Will Always Write Back: How One Letter Changed Two Lives.
-
In 1997 a 12 year old girl in Pennsylvania became pen pals with a 14 year old boy in Zimbabwe and the friendship that developes.
-
Sounds good, DR Jane.
-
Good night, friends.
-
'night
-
Well, that was fun! :o
-
Just about the time we were going to open the doors, a fire alarm went off in the mall!
-
It lasted a little more than five minutes, and finally turned off.
-
No one came around to let us know what happened, so we just opened, and now we've started the show.
-
Back from a delicious Christmas dinner with friends. Cecil cooked. I brought some wines. It was perfect.
The menu included smoked pork ribs and a salad with greens from their garden.
-
It was a night for aged treats. I brought a 1995 Stony Hill Chardonnay that was a real treat, a perfect illustration of why aged wines can yield such riches.
Later, when paired with a 10-year-old Cheddar, it was a revelation.
-
And then we’re aged. Well, we’re aging. Cecil is having shoulder surgery days after I have my hand surgery. Nurse Pam is picking me up after my surgery. She gets to nurse hom for about three months.
-
Headed to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
Alan is indeed an ASS
-
I made dinner for Vixdad but was not feeling hungry so sat down in the recliner for a minute
-
Just to rest my eyes
-
My eyes decided a several hour rest was in order, apparently
-
I must try and get back to sleep or I’ll be all mixed up tomorrow
-
I'm now home.
-
Oooh page 11
-
Just had to share. :)
-
My eyes decided a several hour rest was in order, apparently
Like they do. ::)
-
;)
-
Had an hour nap with weird dreams.
-
Glad to hear the drip drip drip is gone gone gone
-
Ok I’m going to bed
-
Good night

DR LAURA - the Laura in the ANNETTE serial on the MMC was played by Roberta Shore.
She was a rich girl who falsely accused Annette of stealing her expensive birthday present - a necklace.
But in the last episode, she turned out to be nice....and the necklace was found in the piano.
I met Roberta Shore at Disneyland back in the 1950’s. She was a real sweetheart.
-
That's pretty cool, Tom.
-
Seattle has two big musical houses one is a touring company house mostly and the other one is does their own productions for the most part. The current touring company is Moulin Rouge. How the hell did this piece of crap win 10 Tony awards including Best musical of the year?
-
Page twelve has been waiting in the wings for a LONG time.
-
As have I.
-
The computer is being very slow tonight - perhaps getting ready to its every two week freeze, which seems to be happening every week-and-a-half now.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them and read them.
-
Otherwise, here we are.
-

A question for the ages. ::)
-
The Pines of Rome have made an entrance, which is more than I can say for page twelve.
-
Gratuitous Post #322!
-
Maybe between George and myself we can hurry and let page twelve enter.
-
It's not that far away.
-
It's closer than we think.
-
I feel confident.
-
Even if George doesn't join me.
-
He's apparently fallen down another rabbit hole.
-
It happens.
-
Often.
-
Page twelve has made a star entrance and now I can change the topic.
-
He's apparently fallen down another rabbit hole.
No, I had to blow my nose! ::)
-
Because page twelve is amazing and always needs a star entrance.
-
And now that that's done, all is right with the world. ;)
-
Perhaps George will make a few more posts whilst I change the topic.
-
