Good morning, all.

I was dead tired when I awoke after a scant five hours of sleep, but I'm up and feeling better. We are successfully closed, I have three hours of relaxation ahead of me, and the first cup of coffee is entering the bloodstream.
-
I have a scheduled 4-hour rehearsal (but it never runs that long) at a high school in Norwalk CT this afternoon. Then follows three days of Hell with five (5) more round trip commutes. But it's all good, and the rest of the year is mine, all mine.

Good morning, all.

Not a great night of sleep.

Only 1 week until Christmas and I have a great gift idea for you (or for any theatre lover on your list). Debra Warren joins me to chat about her new book Robert Preston: Forever The Music Man, a detailed and very interesting biography of Preston that covers his career in Hollywood films, Broadway and TV. It's a great read! Check out the interview to hear more:

I have seen the previews for that LIGHT movie that MR BK talks about in the notes - and I can't understand a word Olivia Coleman and her co-star are saying.

Sunday afternoon greetings! Richard picked up Chinese food on his way home from church. We’ve had a nice lunch and, as soon as I finish my tea, we’ll start putting ornaments on our Christmas tree.
-
My sister and I are almost 10 years apart - she was born before WWII and I after. Sometimes our mother said she had 2 only children. And sometimes she said, “First I had the babysitter, then I had the baby.”
-
From John:
Finishing up Small Things Like These, another short Claire Keegan book. It’s a Christmas book that was up for the Booker Prize this year. I read it last year. Listening to it is equally beautiful, heartbreaking and hopeful.
I thought I would check it out to read before Christmas except the wait from the library is about eight weeks.
-
Happy however you spell it Hanukkah!

I shall shortly be on my way to see episode four and do any futzing and finessing needed.

Page four. Paging page four.

Vibe for DR JOHN G.

I am enjoying reading about everyone's family.
LOL DR GINNY - yes, I became the babysitter.
And after looking at the inner web I just now found out that my birthday brother David and Brad Pitt were born the same day and year.
-
DR JANE I do not know if my sister is attending the pre-50th wedding anniversary usurper party....I shall find out this week.
-
I am now on my way to pick Molly up at her work.....her car wouldn't start so her husband took her to work - but he is working this afternoon so she needed a way home.
-
Condolences on the loss of your friend, DR John G.

And they don't use their turn signals, either.

Excellent :)

-
Hello, everyone.
-
Condolences to John G. It's never easy losing a friend.
-
I am an only child.
-
I had a visit from Ann and Jen, who brought me a lovely Christmas gift: a firestick! I am now set up to watch Amazon Prime on my TV. I may go for Netflix, too.
How nice!
-
I'd like an Ann and Jen, too. I'd be happy with just one.
-
Just made a large pot of mushroom vegetable soup. It should last me a few days while I recover.
-
I am home with a mild cold and the bump on my head, which doesn't seem to be going away, and the daily headaches, which also don't seem to be abating. My doctor is on holiday in Canada, but I'm certain he'd just tell me to take OTC painkillers (I have better products here). Other doctors would say the same. Mild concussions usually go away in 1-2 weeks, but I had one many years ago that lasted six months. I truly need some major R&R, but this isn't quite what I had in mind.
On the positive side, I started 'TIS THE SEASON TO BE MURDERED last night and can order from Grubhub if so inclined. I'm able to do minor household chores, which of course are ever present. Not terrible, just not what I had in mind.
-
Hi, John G.
Vibes for a smooth surgery tomorrow!
-
How long do you anticipate your recovery will take?
-
TTFN.
-
Yes! ~~~MOST EXCELLENT SURGERY VIBES & XYLOPHONES~~~ for DR John G. bright and early tomorrow morning!!!!!!!
-
I’m planning on being back at work Wednesday. Because of the holidays I can work from home the next two weeks.
-
Five!
-

That sounds perfect.

A cold on top of your concussion, definitely not what you needed. 'TIS THE SEASON TO BE MURDERED is a good book to read while you take it easy.
-
Had two 5 oz filet mignon steaks from Omaha Steaks - excellent and just right.
-
Calorie count is 700 for the two.
-
Not bad. Am now defrosting the other two, which I'll either have tomorrow or Tuesday. So easy to cook and they give you their special seasoning, which is excellent.
-
We just did a Chanukah video chat with Freyja and watched her open our gifts.
-
Page six is waiting in the wings.
-
As am I.
-
I haven't received any Hanukah gifts - some gelt would be nice, chocolate or otherwise.
-
First up was the card with stickers. The front of the card says "fun for you". I am amazed that she can open something for the first time and read it.
-
Next up was a book about Chanukah.
-
We just did a Chanukah video chat with Freyja and watched her open our gifts.
Nice!
-
We had a really good matinee today.
-
Great crowd and great compliments afterward!
-
Then another book she liked when we were there, The Little Excavator, that also has an excavator plush toy.
-
I don't remember how many tickets were presold for tonight, but we've been told to expect a fairly good walk-up crowd.
-
She seemed to like all her gifts.
-
I'm now at Applebee's before our evening show. :)
-
Our next scheduled video is for Christmas to watch her open our gifts.
-
I don't remember how many tickets were presold for tonight, but we've been told to expect a fairly good walk-up crowd.
Have a good , busy evening.

I lit the candles, after finally finding them. My gift was the video call :)
-
Oh, I did hear something about her getting chocolate for the following nights.
-
Chocolate and books are all you need. Fine gifts!

Have finally assigned all but two duets. They're the two kids I'm worried about - they seemed a bit uncomfortable on their videos, so I've written each parent and asked if they'll be completely comfortable in front of an audience and that they can learn new material well.
-
But at least I can get the others their music now. So, that's a load off.
-
I have several digital screeners I could watch but on the computer rather than the TV. Doesn't thrill me, frankly - but who knows if they'll eventually show up as screeners.
-
Chocolate and books are all you need. Fine gifts!
I agree, and stickers if you are almost three ;)
-
I loved Chanukah as a child as it was usually the only time I received books as gifts.
-
Do you think DIE HARD is a Christmas movie?
Yes or No.
-
Since we are watching it tonight I will vote yes ;D
-
'night
-
Vibes for DR JEANNE - an only child.
-
Audrey will be visiting this week. She is four months old now and this is the first time I will be seeing her.
I have a few this and thats for her......
-
Luka played 4 minutes in the 1st quarter, 5 minutes in the 3rd quarter, and about 2 minutes in the last quarter at the end of the game.....so at least he's getting some floor time.
-
Good evening.
-
Our Christmas Nativity was performed at church this morning. It went well.
-
It was rather chaotic, though. We are a small church, and we had 15 kids participating.
-
I was worship leader and the advent wreath reader/lighter. After my part was done, I slipped away to the nursery to help with child care. Pretty much, one adult stood by each door to keep escapes from happening.
-
They fed the kids breakfast snacks for some reason before they passed out the costumes. Not a good idea. One of the shepherds threw up.
-
But it was fun, as always.
-
I don't remember how many tickets were presold for tonight, but we've been told to expect a fairly good walk-up crowd.
Have a good , busy evening.
We have 36 here...another good audience.
-
We had a really good matinee today.
Nice.
Definitely.
-
It's going well.
-
Back from a nice Christmas party. Very low-key and welcome after last night’s mishegas.
-
I need to get some sleep. Morning comes early.
-
Thank you, all, for the vibes.
-
Good night, all.
-
Page six? Really? When page seven is waiting in the wings?
-
As am I.
-
Watched a weird movie.
-
Am listening to music.
-
Will write some notes soon.
-
Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
-
There now.
-
Am I being gaslit?
-
This page needs a damn exit.
-
Page seven needs a damn entrance.
-
An entrance would be entrancing.
-
Page seven has made its entrance.
-
Page eight is now waiting in the wings.
-
As am I.
-
Page 7?
-
Seriously?
-
Where is page 8? And page 9? And page 10?
-
Damn! That should’ve been three posts.
-
Tonight's evening show went very well.
-
Just myself and my one sister. Diane is three years older than me.
-
36 people in the audience may not seem like a lot, but there are only about 56 seats, so we had more than half the house filled, and it seemed pretty full. :)
-
Just myself and my one sister. Diane is three years older than me.
What a coinkydink! MY sister's name is Diane! ;D
-
John, condolences on the loss of your friend, Mickey.
-
Do you think DIE HARD is a Christmas movie?
Yes or No.
Yes!
-
George did you get my email?
-
I remember that I saw DIE HARD in the movie theater, but I barely remember the movie...certainly not enough to even give a Christmas/Not Christmas opinion. ::)
-
George did you get my email?
I haven't checked! Hang on!
-
I just checked and replied! Thanks!
-
My dear friend from junior high school, high school, and college texted did me today try to get me hooked up on Skype.
-
After 1,000,001 tries, we finally got it working. We then proceeded to talk for four hours plus
-
Well actually it’s kind of weird. Bill is totally deaf. So I talk and he reads the subtitles to come through Ford and then he just talks regularly because he can talk and I can hear what he says of course.
-
He lived for many years in the LA area. He graduated from the opening class of the American Academy of dramatic arts in LA. He said he wish he could go to their 50th anniversary celebration. I guess it is coming up soon.
-
For five years he lived with Nunnelly Johnson and Gene Fowler Senior’s granddaughter Kim. He said he can’t believe that he never met Bruce.
-
After 1,000,001 tries, we finally got it working. We then proceeded to talk for four hours plus
Cool!
-
Well, we can't stop here.
-
Only five more posts (after this one) and then we'll be on Page Eight!
-
So, here's Gratuitous Post #206! ;D
-
Her father, Gene Fowler Jr., directed I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF, starring Michael Landon.
-
We had better get to page eight!
-
Almost...
-
Page Eight!
-
8 ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
-
Page Eight!
What he said. ;)
-
My sister's name would be Diane if I had a sister.
-
But I don't.
-
I do not have a sister, mister.
-
You know, page nine has been patiently awaiting its entrance.
-
And yet...
-
Welcome eighty-two GUESTS.
-
Well, if I had some help here.
-
But I'm sure George has gone down a rabbit hole.
-
I, on the other hand, have not.
-
I have not.
-
I need a massage. I believe it's been at least a decade since I've had one.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
Maybe if I had some help here.
-
But nooooo.
-
I'm on my own, like Eponine and let's point out that the last four letters of Eponine spell NINE.
-
As in page nine.
-
I had a brief coughing fit for unknown reasons. I was fit for coughing.
-
No help.
-
Help is not forthcoming.
-
Which is what happens when there are rabbit holes.
-
Well, we're close.
-
Very close.
-
Super close.
-
This should do it.
-
This should do it.
-
Page nine has entered the building.
-
Whew!
-
;D
