Well, you've read the notes, the notes were fun and done, and now it is time for you to post until the fun and done cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RAMBUNCTIOUS!
-
Welcome 113 GUESTS!
-
Good morning, all.
-
First post after BK!
-
I’m up way too early.
-
But I’m ready.
-
Ready for a nap.
-
TOD
Peter Gunn
Two for the Road
The Pink Panther
Charade
So many others that don’t come readily to mind
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR JohnG, wishing you all the best today!
-
I slept rather well. Just after I turned off the lights, the cats got quite rambunctious for longer than I like before they settled down.
-
This morning I need to talk to Joshie about City Center tomorrow.
-
I was supposed to go in today, but I don't want to miss the Jan. 6 hearing.
-
Last night, after much frustration and fiddling with the remote, I watched on Amazon Prime the Albert Finney Scrooge, a movie I've always disliked. I finally watched the whole kaboodle. Finney's Scrooge seems younger than George C. Scott and Alastair Sim, my two favorites, but I liked his performance. I thought most of the performances were good, but I loved Edith Evans and Alec Guinness. Laurence Naismith, who plays Fezziwig, was Kris Kringle on Meredith Willson's musical Here's Love and Pangloss in the 1958 London production of Candide, so it was fun to see him.
What I disliked about the movie: most of the musical staging and about 75% of Leslie Bricusse's score, and much of his screenplay's additions to Dickens: the milk of human kindness nonsense and the very funny scene in hell between Scrooge, Marley, and several extras carrying a huge chain. I continued to have the feeling the movie was trying too hard to be Oliver!
At least I have now seen it all.
-
I agree, Elmore. I really hated the third-rate Oliver! feel to the musical numbers.
-
I haven’t watched any Christmas movies yet. I may correct that. I recently acquired John Huston’s The Dead, which takes place at Christmas. I loved that movie, which I have only seen once, when it came out.
-
I finally found the surgery center in this building, which is heavily under renovation.
-

The Dead is one glorious movie! My friend Frank Patterson plays the tenor at the dinner party.

All the more reason to watch.

From DR Laura:
Pretty much, one adult stood by each door to keep escapes from happening.
;D Soooo cute :)
-
From Laura:
They fed the kids breakfast snacks for some reason before they passed out the costumes. Not a good idea. One of the shepherds threw up.
Was this decision made by the same person who took down the decorations BEFORE the party was over ;)
-
DR TCB I am glad you were able to video chat with your friend.
-
Bryan initially called on my little mini phone yesterday. Keith then figured out how to use his Google tablet to call back.
-
When I chat with my friends on my computer I use Messenger through Facebook.
-
Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate
Thank you.
-
I am glad DR John found the surgery center this morning. I would have found the search a bit stressful.

Nothin' says lovin' like somethin' from the oven.

Good ... um, afternoon, all.
-
Had to get up at dawn's crack to get tuxedoed and down to the high school for a morning concert.
Back this evening for the next one, and
Back tomorrow morning, early again, and
Back tomorrow evening again, and finally...
Back Wednesday evening for the last one.

DR Jrand72:
Oldest of two (2) -- just me and a sister two years younger.
-
Her name is not Diane.
-
Hope DR John G.'s surgery went fine.
-
I could use a nap. Not that I actually got any less sleep than I usually do. But the getting up super early sure makes it seem like it. I do, however, have to scoop litter, run two errands, and take the trash can down to the road. Must do those things first, or they won't happen.
-
Good morning.
-
I have one older sister, whose name is not Diane.
-
I had coffee this morning with a friend. The coffee shop owner was very low on coins. I brought in my change jar and made her very happy by restocking her cash register. I have been able to do this a few times by keeping a change jar in the car.
-
Then I left her a tip in coins.
-
One new hand.
-
So basically, you're ready to play ball.
-
Thanks for the update, DR John G.
~~SPEEDY RECOVERY VIBES~~~
-
I guess I'm up - I guess I got seven hours of sleep. I guess we're on page three.
-
I guess page four is waiting in the wings.
-
As am I.
-
IF I'm going to have steak again, I guess I need to go out and get a broiler pan.
-
I guess I'll do that once I ascertain if there's mail at the mail place.
-
But I guess I have to decide if I want steak again today. Certainly, it's the least caloric thing to do.
-
I guess I should open the refrigerator and see if they're even defrosted.
-
I guess I've answered e-mails.
-
I'll tell you one thing: Once you buy from one of these online food companies, you are bombarded with six emails a day of offers.
-
I'll tell you two things: We're close to page four.
-
May as well get there and be done with it.
-
Page four has made its entrance and page five is now waiting in the wings.
-
As am I.
-
Congrats on the new hand, John G.
-
Guess what? It's snowing here. :)
-
DR ChasSmith, it looks like someone stole your idea and is making money off it.
-
You should sue for copywrite infrigement.

Or at the very least, file a PayPal dispute.

~~~Quick Recovery Vibes for John's Hand!!~~~
DR JOHN G's photo is kind of scary.
-
Monday afternoon greetings! I’ve been out in the hustle and bustle and am glad to be home.
-
DR John G, that’s quite a mitten you’re wearing! Hope your recovery goes smoothly.
-
DR JohnG, how do you feel?
That is thoughtful of you. On our trip I made a store owner happy when I paid with lots of dollar bills as the sign requested. I was happy to get rid of the singles.
So basically, you're ready to play ball.
DR John I am pleased to see you were able to post a photo.
SPPEDY RECOVERY VIBES FOR DR JOHN!
-
I just took a pain pill. It doesn’t really hurt. It’s more numb and uncomfortable.
-
I have a gallon jar at home where I put my change. The last time I filled it up and cashed it in at my credit union (no fees if deposited), it had over $440 in it!
The last time I faced sorting the change in the change jar I ended up donating the entire cost of the contents to a charity instead of paying a fee to have the bank sort it. I don't recall what the charity was but it was something good.
-
I had been saving change in that jar since I was a child living with my parents. The jar had once been filled with my mother's hard English candies.
-
Letting go of my mother's jar was hard. The memory of doing so has made me a bit sad.
-
It was one less item to move with, and one more item on the long list of things I parted with.
-
I just took a pain pill. It doesn’t really hurt. It’s more numb and uncomfortable.
Vibes it isn't too painful once the numbness wears off.
On this day in 1843, Charles Dickens's novella A Christmas Carol was first published.
-
And the adaptations still abound.
-
Five!
-
On this day in 1843, Charles Dickens's novella A Christmas Carol was first published.
It is a great novella.
-
“The summer I killed my father, I was 10 years old.”
First line of Eve’s Bayou, a movie I have loved since the day it came out. The Criterion transfer is gorgeous. The casting is great.
-
May be my fifth or sixth time watching it. Hard to believe it’s 25 years old.
-
Diahann Carroll is amazing as a glamorous and craven ol’ voodoo queen.
-
DR JANE I think those are decisions we all face one day - and it is never easy.
-
DR CHAS SMITH I have NOT been keeping up with 9 1 1 this season - either of the shows.....Maybe I will binge watch some over this holiday weekend.
-
Had the two tiny filets - even better than yesterday's. And I tried their little scalloped potatoes thing, which you don't defrost but just stick in the microwave. It was very good, so I had a second. These are VERY small, maybe two ounces.
-
That should be it for food today. I ended up ordering a lot of stuff for the Do from Amazon and it should be here by Friday at the latest - plates, plastic cutlery, that kind of stuff.
-
So, the only thing I'll actually need to get come Thursday night are dinner rolls, pasta, and mushrooms. I already have the tuna pasta salad stuff.
-
I've gotten everyone their songs and music save for two duets and one solo, which I'm still pondering.
-
One package did arrive but it's not that important so I'll just wait until tomorrow to get it and whatever else arrives, since I have to go to the bank in the afternoon anyway.
-
How did things go with the two kids you had questions about, BK?
-
Letting go of my mother's jar was hard. The memory of doing so has made me a bit sad.
{{{HUGS!!}}}
On this day in 1843, Charles Dickens's novella A Christmas Carol was first published.
I didn't know that!
-
Jacob Marley knew.
-
But Marley was gnarly.
-
Marley ate barley.
-
Marley rode a Harley.
-
Perhaps all three at once.
-
Are you typing with one hand, DR John G.?
Wow, what an opening line.
So true, and I continue to try and let go of more and more.
Just about everything is done with one hand.
-
Up from a long nap.
-
Time for dinner.
-
I'll use them but only together on duets. I've told both parents that and they seem fine.
-
I began watching Babylon, which I'd prefer seeing on the big boy TV rather than the big boy computer. Well, in the first ten minutes, this overblown assault on every sense known to man, we get an elephant making a number two all over someone and then just a few minutes later we get some slutty woman at a big Hollywood party in the wild 1920s doing a number one all over a big, fat, disgusting man, who loves it. Then we get the party, filled with nude men and women humping each other in every way possible, while a band blares what sounds to me like big band music, which is not exactly the twenties, and we meet Margot Robbie, who crashes the party, sniffs more cocaine than Al Pacino in Scarface, and Brad Pitt being hedonistic, too. Now, that's the first twenty minutes. There are over two hours and forty-five minutes to go. I'm not sure I have it in me to continue.
Marley rode a Harley.
Marley dated Carly.
No.
Well, maybe, but heavily leaning no.
-
Six!
-
Watching Clerks III, which is actually Clerks IV. And not good.
-
I'm afraid I'm too pooped to continue to contribute to the party.
-
Good night, friends.
-
ps: Xfinity is now saying TOMORROW will be the day they are working in the neighborhood, so I may not have Internet for a chunk of the day. We shall see.
-
We will miss you, Singdaw.
-
Clerks III has one scene with Rosario Dawson that was quite good and the rest has gotten a little better.
-
TOD:
"Two for the Road" is my favorite Mancini score. Tiffany's, Charade and Victor, Victoria are in the top 5 as well.
-
I want to watch Two For The Road again now....that it has been mentioned a few times.....
-
Marley's favorite cereal was barley, barely.
-
Watching basketball but not much is happening.....
-
I have tentative Christmas Eve plans -- to go to my Cousin Debra's for a small family get-together. Her husband, Rob, is very ill...and cancer is now in his bones. He is on pain meds. This will undoubtedly be his last Christmas. He does not know about the cancer in his bones, but he knows his future will be short.
That said, the evening could "not" happen depending upon how Rob feels that day. He is looking forward to it, however, so I believe it will happen.
Otherwise, my holidays will be sedate. I may go to church Sunday morning.
I will also be viewing "Glass Onion" on Netflix on the 23rd or a day or so after.
-
I have an appointment at my allergy clinic tomorrow afternoon.
Don't know what they can or will do. I have good days and horrible days. None of the meds they've prescribed have helped me much, if at all.
-
I enjoyed the final report out of the January 6th Committee...especially the recommendation for criminal charges against Donald John Trump and some of his associates.
So sorry about your cousin-in-law, Ron. I hope it’s a nice gathering.
Marley, meet Farley.
DR John I hope you are able to sleep well tonight.
A painkiller before bed should help.
-
My Blu and Ray player isn’t playing Blu and Ray discs since Eve’s Bayou earlier, so I am watching regular DVDs I have.
-
Now starting Amsterdam.
-
Christian Bale appears to be channeling Adrian Brody.
One more …
Seven!
Taylor Swift is no actress.
A real tearjerker of a dog story. If you can’t get past the paywall, let me know.
Amsterdam is a mess. The script is lame. But some of the performances are fun.
-
It’s also way too long.
-
I may finish it tomorrow.
Christian Bale appears to be channeling Adrian Brody.
Heaven forfend!
No she isn't. To me, she's just another forgettable voice. But that's me!
You know, don't you, that some grocery stores have machines you can dump all your loose change into. It counts and tallies the value. It prints out a voucher and you give it to a cashier for the cash value.
-
Almost Famous is closing.
-
I have made 90 minutes into this movie. Sadly 45 minutes remain.
-
It’ll have to wait until tomorrow.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good night.
It's my bedtime, as well.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Page eight is waiting to make an entrance and no one is here.
-
What a revoltin' mess this is.
-
George is clearly down some rabbit hole, TCB hasn't arrived yet, and I'm the only one in the jernt.
-
Well, me and eighty-two GUESTS.
-
Who are just sitting there like so much fish.
-
Guess I'm on my own, like Eponine.
-
No one is alone.
-
Can't sleep.
-
Also can't get rid of this horrid cough that won't go away.
-
For hide nor hare, as they say.
-
Well, some say.
-
I'll have to ask them what the expression means.
-
Maybe I should seek out Paxlovid.
-
Although I believe that is supposed to be more effective right at the outset of symptoms.
-
OK - one more.
-
EIGHT!
-
Let's have us a soliloquy.
-
Or ten.
-
I just flew in from Fresno
-
And boy, are my arms tired.
-
I'll be here all night.
-
God willin' an' the creek don't rise.
-
Bow to your corners.
-
Doh-see-doh!
-
I remember when we had square dancing in elementary school gym class.
-
It was the only segment I liked the whole year.
-
Otherwise, gym class was torture.
-
And the instructors never liked me.
-
I was always the last one picked, etc. etc.
-
But I have grown beyond this adversity.
-
I was magnanimous in defeat.
-
I was generous of spirit.
-
I was like Scrooge reborn.
-
I was like white on rice.
-
To mix a metaphor.
-
Signed in semaphor.
-
Or wafted in smoke signals.
-
Do you waft?
-
More people should waft.
-
Waft whilst eating waffles.
-
Because why not?
-
Why not waft?
-
Why not waffle?
-
Why not play Pickleball whilst eating waffles?
-
A healthy mix of food groups.
-
If there ever was one.
-
Well, lookee... page nine!
-
Page eight flew by like a gazelle unicycling on a runway.
-
And you know how quick THEY can be.
-
Stream of consciousness.
-
Can be a weird thing.
-
They say it never rains in California.
-
But girl, don't they warn ya.
-
It pours. Man, if pours.
-
Well, I shall attempt to sleep again.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Again.
-
I enjoyed the final report out of the January 6th Committee...especially the recommendation for criminal charges against Donald John Trump and some of his associates.
Amen.
Agreed!!
-
Reading the credits on Clerks III and saw a familiar name. Vincent Cirilli did the musical sound.
Cool!
-
Hi.
-
Spent much of today catching up on the final 1/6 hearings.
-
Don’t think that DJT will have a very Merry Christmas.
😊
-
Healing vibes for John.
-
I was planning to watch “Babylon”, but now I’m not so sure.
Bruce’s recap is most discouraging.
-
I do like Brad Pitt. ❤️
-
Thank you for the Happy Chanukah wishes.
Wishing all who celebrate the same.
The ones I've seen around town here charge a percentage...my credit union doesn't.
-
Can’t wait to watch SAMI!
-
George is clearly down some rabbit hole, TCB hasn't arrived yet, and I'm the only one in the jernt.
A little bit after I got home, my friend Shelly called and I went over to ger house to play Phase 10.
-
Vibes to all in need.
Good night, sleep tight.
😴
-
All the actors are fine in Babylon. It's the script and directorial excesses that aren't. More in the notes.
-
Phase 10 is clearly not a phase.
-
And neither is page ten, so let's get there.
-
Page ten is waiting in the wings.
-
As am I.
-
And.
-
Page ten has made its entrance in the nick of time.
-
Whew!
-
Some have thought highly of Babylon.
-
I was not such a some.
-
We chatted for a while and I told her about Lakewood Playhouse's production of Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol that's happening at the same time as the one I'm involved in, and that they've extended (thanks for the info, Tom!), which means that I can see their version...and (hopefully) visit with a friend who's in it!
-
Has George already gone down a rabbit hole?
-
TCB never arrived.
-
So, Shelly and I are going to see the show in Lakewood!
-
I will not be seeing the show in Lakewood - I don't even know what Lakewood is.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
