Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Christmas Day, and now it is time for you to post until the post-Christmas cows come home.
-
No warning? No new notes are up? No up are new notes?
-
And no new word of the day??

Good morning, friends.

Good morning, all!

~~~CONTINUED MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for BK!!!!!! Couldn't we all use a bit of a Christmas Miracle?
-
My sister manages a gas station, so we used to get scratcher cards in our stockings every year. I don't recall ever winning anything.
-
Today will be full of birthday celebrations for my DH - The Feast of Stephen that Good King Wenceslas looked out on.
-
I am feeling very lethargic today. I just want to lie down and stay there for a while.
-
You're entitled to, DR elmore3003.
-
:)
-
Happy Christmas Day (observed as holiday, that is).
Today, so much will be closed, it's like a Saturday or Sunday.
-
TOD: On the few scratches I've had, I think I've won only $15 or so. The most I ever won on a lottery ticket was $97.
Fortune does not follow me, I'm afraid. Have had to work for everything.
-
It's currently 18 degrees. The high should soar to 44 at some point today. Tonight will be in the low 20s.
The pond remains frozen over...a thin cover of ice, that is. Certainly nothing to walk upon by the likes of any of us. A cousin with whom I have a somewhat contentious (politically) relationship suggested I should go ice skating.
I invited her to "go first".
-
Happily, that cousin is not a "blood relative".
-
I posted two articles to my facebook page last week. One was a story about Sean Hannity confessing to the January 6th committee that he lied about the election fraud claims by Trump. He said he knew the election was legit all along.
The other was about Fox being sued by Dominion over the false claims that the voting machines were compromised. Fox admitted they had no proof of those claims.
My cousin commented on both threads that "freedom of speech" was being violated by the media in printing those stories. I had to point out to her, with some sarcasm, that the very idea of free speech was being exercised in printing "truth".
She believes in Fox News reporting very literally. She also considers herself ultra smart and worldly.
She is neither in my experience. No one reliant upon Fox news could possibly be either, IMO.
-
All righty then. I have purged myself of my political rant for the day.
-
It is time I had a cup of coffee. I was a slug-a-bed until about 15 minutes ago.
I watched "Glass Onion" for a third time last night. I quite enjoyed it because I picked up on several things I had missed the first two times.
-
Good morning.
-
Merry Christmas and Happy holidays to everyone at HHW!
-
Is this site not taking pictures again?
-
That is a dilemma, DR Ron Pulliam. I find myself not even wanting to interact with people who are Fox Newsers. And that is especially hard if they are a relative. And yet, I don't know how we move past it if we don't interact. So I don't know what the answer is.
-
I am able to post photos.
I'm enjoying reading what everyone did for Xmas. The weather here has been really weird. On Friday it was 44F and raining. But then later it started snowing a lot. I went to my aunt's for sushi Xmas/Hanukkah lunch on Saturday since my nieces and sister and her husband all love sushi. It was so good. I ended up staying over at my aunt's (due to weather) to have turkey dinner on Sunday.
-
That sounds really nice, DR Jennifer. Except for the weather part. But a sleepover is always fun.
-
Happy holidays DR JENNIFER!
-
As has been pointed out - NO MAIL TODAY!
-
The temp is 18 degrees.
If we reach the middle 20's, I may go out and try to start the car.
-
Page Two.
-
May your leftovers prove everlasting, DR Jrand72.
-
I buy a scratch off ticket now and then.
I won $500 once and $600 another time......and $5 and $20 here and there. I have a $5 winner on my desk right now to turn in the next time I put gas in the car.
I have won NOTHING on a PowerBall ticket.
For some reason Birdy Priscilla enjoys singing along with "Potato's In The Paddy Wagon" from A MIGHTY WIND.
I liked this:
Every individual can make a difference. it can sometimes seem as if one person will not be very effective. However, change in the world always begins with an individual who shares what he or she has learned, and passes it on to others.
Monday morning greetings! Yesterday was one of the quietest Christmas Days I’ve ever experienced.
-
…and now it’s snowing again :P
-
Good morning, all.
-
I got a little sleep. The hand is weird at night.
-
It’s already up to 39. Will be 50 by 11.
-
The "feels like" is still in negative double digits here, but the actual temperature is warming somewhat.
Good morning
I’ve won’t $2 or $5 scratch offs occasionally over the years
Watching a very violent Nikkatsu noir aptly called Cruel Gun Story. JB does not like the gunshots.
-
DR Laura I enjoyed reading about your Christmas, and of course about grandson's wish.
-
From the ridiculous to the saintly. Starting Roberto Rossellini’s film about St. Francis, which Fellini co-wrote.
-
DR Jeanne thanks for letting me know the mail won't be delivered today.
-
I don’t think JB will scream so much during this film.
-
Anybody doing anything special for Boxing Day?
-
I am very sorry DR TCB lost power and had to stay home on Christmas.
-
I did a HA shoveling job on the sidewalk and the driveway.
Both Smarty and Petey started today.
SO - bring it on, winter!
Anybody doing anything special for Boxing Day?
I, fittingly, will put together a box of presents to mail to Rob’s family in Illinois. They spent last week and the holiday weekend in Michigan with ALL of ML’s family, celebrating both Christmas and Great Grandma Norma’s 90th birthday. There were enough presents already and ours will help them continue the festivities to Twelfth Night. My goal is to take it to the post office tomorrow - provided we can get out of our driveway.
Wouldn’t that be lovely? No the top prize was $500 a week for life ( paid quarterly and after taxes as I learned from a client who actually won)
I won a one time payment of $100
I made eggs benedict for breakfast today
-
With a sprinkling of paprika
-
Did someone say paprika?
-
I have taken the splints off for a short while.
-
The itch was getting too much.
-
Did someone say paprika?
Speaking of...yesterday, my sister made deviled eggs sprinkled with paprika! And here they are:
-
They were quite delish!
-
And she recently discovered Vixmom's favorite (I think) spice company, Penzeys!
-
The index finger is numb. I thought that was the splint but it’s the surgery.
-
I love deviled eggs.
-
Then for dessert, we had a BIG box of Whitman's chocolates:
-
Paprika or not.
-
On the eggs. I don’t cake for too much paprika on chocolates.
-
I love deviled eggs.
Me, too...and they can be chopped up and made into excellent egg salad sandwiches!
-
On the eggs. I don’t cake for too much paprika on chocolates.
Me, too...too!
-
Here’s to those in the kitchen who don’t get that mixed up.
-
The splint is back on. I managed to do it okay.
-
And The Flowers of St. Francis comes to a close. Very sweet movie.
-
Let’s let page three come to a close.
-
Isabella Rossellini is interviewed. She’s breathtaking.
-
And intelligent.
-
Onward!
-
Four!
-
Good afternoon, all.
-
I want vixmom's eggs benedict.
Not that I need them, what with the bacon and homemade blueberry waffles sitting in my stomach.
-
And I want everybody's deviled eggs.
-
I *think* I won $20 way back in L.A., back in the late 1980s. Probably one of my first ever lottery plays.
Or maybe I dreamed it at some point over the years.
Other than that, I think I've topped out at several $1 or $2 or $3 wins and a $5 win at some point.
-
Impressive, no?
No.
-
Today, following a few single-digit and teens days I suddenly remembered that we should be starting and running our automobiles for a few minutes each day to keep the batteries going. Fortunately, they all started up fine. Also fortunately, I've got the BK-approved battery charger right here in the house all charged up in case of sudden dire need.
-
Got one more dose of Paxlovid to take tonight. It definitely did a lot of good. I could feel it starting to work late on the first day, and on the second day it was like I'd never even been sick. Did I say this already? Anyhoo, I've been fine except that I've been post-nasal-dripping like crazy, so my throat still gets tickled and I cough more than I'd like.
I also figured out that that kind of a cough is a complete waste of bodily energy. It's only triggered by the drip, and as such, it has no function. Coughing is only good when there's congestion to break up and clear out. So this is utterly wasted dry hacking that has no bearing whatever on the thing that's causing it. I'm trying to keep it to a minimum so I don't just get into a coughing fit cycle for no reason.
Anyhoo (again), other than that and a couple of sneezes per day, I feel fine, normal, and like I never had the Covid cold five days ago.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine and a half hours of sleep.
-
That is beyond peculiar - I did the word of the day - it was there plain as day and now it's not. Maybe I forgot to push post but that would be highly unlikely. Coming up.
-
And the word of the day is: HALCYON!
-
Halcyon. Wasn't he the host of The Name's The Same?
-
I remember a couple of things today that Steve Allen did that still make me laugh almost 60 years later.
He introduced a rock group on his syndicated show on here in the afternoon by saying:
"Here's the American Breed singing their hit song 'Bend Me, Shape Me'.......from their album "Grab Me, Stab Me'......"
-
And on one of his night time shows he was giving the news and said:
"And now we have an on the spot chopper report from the scene."
Quit cut to a table full of those wind up teeth chattering and moving all around.....still funny.....
-
Of course The Man On The Street interviews were my favorites as a young nipper.....and later on when he would do a soap opera and the camera would pick out folks in the audience to illustrate the characters he was talking about......
-
Hi Ho, Steverino!
-
And the word of the day is: HALCYON!
I think that's what they gave me when I had that dental surgery.
-
Nice interview with Robin De Jesus.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/robin-de-jesus-chippendales-actor-latino-hulu-show-rcna62738
Will watch that, thank you.
And thanks to the 'vid, I missed visiting with him at our mutual friend's Christmas Eve Eve partay.
-
Woops. I mean read it, not watch it.
-
As soon as I finished kitty cleanup, I lay down with all three babies. That was aeound 10:15. They slept and I dozed. At 1:30, I got up, took the garbage to the basement and picked up my mail from Saturday. Then I took a nice hot bath. I am now finishing up the leftovers from yesterday.
-
Back from a celebratory brunch, at which I ate probably enough for 3 meals. Why do I do that?
-
Resting up. Tonight, we are dining out with friends. By then, I'll probably be hungry again.
-
Perhaps a nap?
-
Since people are posting images of paprika, here's one of Tiler Peck:
-
Did someone say paprika?
Speaking of...yesterday, my sister made deviled eggs sprinkled with paprika! And here they are:
While mine never look that pretty they are sprinkled with paprika.
-
The index finger is numb. I thought that was the splint but it’s the surgery.
Did the surgeon warn you of this? I suppose it is better than pain.
-
Then for dessert, we had a BIG box of Whitman's chocolates:
Do they still sell their little sampler boxes? I like the boxes as a child, problem was I never really liked their chocolate.
-
Keith's biggest complain was the dry cough, and it lingered for a couple of weeks.
-
Up from a nap.
-
Watching the American titles of Saint Francis, an extra on the disc that includes artwork that Rossellini used to create scenes in the movie.
-
Five!
-
And she recently discovered Vixmom's favorite (I think) spice company, Penzeys!
YES!
-
We live about 1 mile from a Penzey's outlet. Don't get there nearly often enough.
-
I love that smoked paprika as well. I rub in on hamburgers before air frying , and on potatoes before roasting , and on chicken before grilling, and on eggs
-
We live about 1 mile from a Penzey's outlet. Don't get there nearly often enough.
I have never been to an actual Penzeys store. The only one in NY closed 6 months before I discovered the spice
-
I would love to visit one, one day
-
The sweet Hungarian paprika is good too. I like that in chicken,paprikash
-
If Tiler Peck came out with a Paprika line, it would be Peck Paprika.
-
For if you're feeling peckish.
-
The store in Cincinnati closed almost a year ago. I’d only been there once.
Well, I guess I'm the latest one to join the party.
I just got my first positive covid test.
-
I had plans to get together with my Birding Buddy tomorrow, for the first time since her arrival in November. I developed a headache and a little bit of stuffiness, so I thought I might as well use one of those free covid tests I got last summer before they expire.
-
Well, I guess I'm the latest one to join the party.
Oh, no!
-
Did someone say paprika?
Speaking of...yesterday, my sister made deviled eggs sprinkled with paprika! And here they are:
While mine never look that pretty they are sprinkled with paprika.
In the musical Bandstand, there was a deviled eggs and paprika incident that was really funny! Beth Leavel gives the funniest line reading and reaction! I loved that moment! :))
-
Then for dessert, we had a BIG box of Whitman's chocolates:
Do they still sell their little sampler boxes? I like the boxes as a child, problem was I never really liked their chocolate.
I'm sure that all sizes of boxes are available. My sister actually got that at a "white elephant" gift exchange!
-
I love that smoked paprika as well. I rub in on hamburgers before air frying , and on potatoes before roasting , and on chicken before grilling, and on eggs
I'll suggest those to my sister.
-
Of course, as a vegetarian, the burger and chicken are not food options at her house, but I'm sure that she can come up with other ideas, too.
-
If Tiler Peck came out with a Paprika line, it would be Peck Paprika.
;D
-
Well, I guess I'm the latest one to join the party.
I just got my first positive covid test.
Oh, no!
Ditto! :(
-
Vibes for Laura.
-
Right now, I'm at the Red Wind casino, waiting for a chili cheeseburger and tater tots.
-
I brought some money and lost all of it...fortunately, it wasn't an extremely large amount of money, but when I go back, I won't start again with as much. ::)
-
I will take a test tonight.
-
A Colt Is My Passport, the last of the Nikkatsu noirs, is a Japanese spaghetti western right down to the Morricone-style score. Fun.
-
Here are my chili cheeseburger and tots:
-
It was all quite delish.
-
Good evening!
-
Hello, Kevin!
-
And now, back to the slot machines! We'll see how much longer I last. ::)
;)
-
But before I go...
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
I won't dance, don't ask me!
-
Totally inconsequential day, thus far.
Had a nice phone chat with a friend, but nothing out of the ordinary has happened.
The day has rather flown swiftly by. It is now dark and 36 degrees.
-
Oh no! Vibes for DR LAURA!
-
Watching A DISTANT TRUMPET with Troy Donahue, Suzanne Pleshette, and the late Diane McBain.
-
The leftover Italian food was very good for lunch and dinner.
I have another bowlful of leftovers left over for tomorrow.....this is chicken and noodles.....
-
Minnesota plays tonight - hopefully Luka will take the floor at some point.
-
Well, I guess I'm the latest one to join the party.
I just got my first positive covid test.
Darn, sorry. I hope it is a mild case, and that you didn't catch it from a family member or pass it to one.
-
I will take a test tonight.
Negative vibes.
Did you have a nice visit when they dropped off the leftovers or did they drop and run?
-
Well, we still have power. The driving ban is still in effect in some of the area. It’s still recommended to stay off the streets since there are some abandoned vehicles Also, the streets are still being plowed. Airport is closed until Wednesday. I’m scheduled to fly back Thursday.
SAFE AND EASY TRAVEL VIBES ON THURSDAY!
Thanks, DR Jane!
-
Have you gotten outside at all?
-
Back from seeing episode five and doing some futzing and fixing. It's VERY funny. This one took a bit longer to finesse, but it came out great. Minor stuff in the scheme of things, but more of it. A little experimenting to see if something would play better edited slightly differently, that kind of thing.
-
Now eating some tuna pasta salad.
-
DR Jeanne my friend removed her plugs. While they helped with the dryness she didn't like the feeling of something in her eyes.
-
Travel vibes for KevinH!
-
When the time comes.
-
Hopefully that will be on Thursday and not later :)
-
It got very quiet here.
-
Too damn quiet for my taste.
-
Tuna pasta salad is finished.
-
I'm now full.
-
Full of tuna pasta salad.
-
Some people think I'm full of other things, but that's another story.
-
I'll see if there's anything to watch.
-
Today felt like a day that didn't really exist.
-
I have purchased a few lottery tickets but can't remember if any of them were scratch cards.
-
Keith's uncle turned 95 yesterday. Mentally he is still good, and not bad physically for his age.
-
And now, back to the slot machines! We'll see how much longer I last. ::)
;)
Good luck!
Well, I'm home, but am about to go visit my friend Shelly. I lost money, and so did my mom, but she really enjoys going and can afford to lose, so she doesn't mind. :)
Happy birthday! Same age as Mom.
-
I have nothing to report.
-
We finished White Christmas. Hadn't seen it in quite a few years. Fun.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Well, I guess I'm the latest one to join the party.
I just got my first positive covid test.
Oh Laura, I’m sorry
-
I urge you to get a paxlovid
Vixdad resisted and he had a much worse time than I ( who took it)
Negative results.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I guess DR Ginny is the only one here who observes Boxing Day. ;D
-
Jane, thanks for the plug report. I'm sorry they didn't work for your friend, but I think I'd feel the same way. Did she ever wear contacts? She might want to try the black currant seed softgels.
-
Happy Boxing Day, Jeanne!
-
COVID BEGONE VIBES to DR Laura.
I'm sorry you're positive, but hope you get over it quickly.
-
Happy Boxing Day, Jeanne!
Thanks, John G! Happy Boxing Day to you, too.
Did the doctor tell you you might have some numbness in your hand?
-
Ah, I see a negative Covid test. Very good!
-
Sing, how are you feeling?
-
I didn't box up anything today, but I did take some empty boxes and some full bags to the trash. Does that count at all?? :)
-
Stay warm and stay safe, everyone.
TTFN.
-
Finished a good documentary.
-
Looking for something else to view.
My cousin-in-law has attempted to ignore/circumvent my post about Sean Hannity's admitted lies about the election to have me account for Joe Biden's part in his son's corrupt business dealings.
I politely informed her that I have seen no proof of this "conspiracy theory" item, but that I also haven't seen any investigation on the part of the GOP on Jared Kushner landing a $2 billion-dollar personal business deal with the Saudi while he was representing the White House in the Middle East, nor any condemnation of Ivanka Trump for securing lucrative business licenses with China to further her personal lines of products. Never mind Trump ran on the issue of condemning Americans for doing that kind of business. Hilariously enough, all his MAGA hats were made in China at one time.
I asked her to please stop trying to change the subject from the article which clearly showed Hannity admitted he lied...before and after the election. I pointed out that his lies were not a freedom of speech issue...that they were an ethical and moral issue.
I was far too polite, but she's family.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Good night, all.
Too funny/sad for words:
A local yokel has gotten many county residents up in arms over the past couple of days for posting that Dominion Power, which provides electricity to our County, would start rolling blackouts and that every 90 minutes, all residents would experience a 30-minute outage. Not all at the same time, of course.
The uproar was terrific, and many complaints were voiced and folks were demanding to be heard, etc.
Only thing was that it wasn't true. The local yokel had heard on the news that a company in a New England state was doing these rolling blackouts and panicked when he thought it was here.
Lots of stupid out there!
-
Watching another documentary - but will finish it post-notes or post-toasties.
We was down for a few minutes - some tech issue - fixed now.
Page nine IS waiting in the wings.
As am I.
Hmmm. That was slow in posting.
That wasn't.
I don't like when we're down.
