Well, you've read the notes, the notes looked back at the year that was, and now it is time for you to post until the looking back cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GUMPTION!
-
Good morning, friends.

COUNTING and MATH are not always my strong suites.

Or typing.

But other than that, Mrs. Lincoln...

~~~CONTINUED MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for BK!!!!!!!
-
I never knew about the Yeston ballet. Interesting.
-
Are we still on page one?
-
Perhaps I'll try to sleep a little longer.
-
Good morning, all!
-
The alarm rang at 6:00, but I dozed until 6:45, so I am behind my usual schedule today. It6's okay, since I am not going anywhere today.
-
I was really pleased with my trip to City Center yesterday, and next week I'll start going in more often. My anxieties about making the trip were groundless, so all is good.
-
DR Laura, I'm happy you arev feeling better.
-
DR JohnG, I saw the old hag had recorded the Yeston songs. Like Henry Higgins, I'd rather hear a choir singing flat.
-
DR JohnG, I'm sending my best thoughts to your mother.
-
DR vixmom, that was an amazing flashback to 1975. The New York City Gay Men's Chorus went to Europe in the 1980s. I dide not go, but my memory is that in some cities the chorus members were guests of the gay men's chorus in that city. One of the4 cities in which the NYCGMC performed was Cologne.
-
When the chorus returned to New York, a chorus member, whose name I no longer remember, asked me if I knew a Gary Holt, who was his host in Cologne. Gary had seen my name in the concert program and asked if that person had gone to school with him at Miami University. Well, I had indeed. The last time I had seen Gary was in early June 1971, when he played cello for a wedding song I had written for my roommate's wedding.
TOD
I find my life these days pretty unexciting, but I did accomplish this:
I beat prostate cancer
My brothers and I finally dumped that Ohio property
A publisher accepted my book Annabelle & Thatch.
-
That's quite a list, DR elmore3003. <heart>
-
Good morning, all.
Very tired. Odd night of sleep. The hand was not happy. It was almost too warm. Nothing worked right.
Good morning, all.
-
I should like to announce that I just assembled, and stuffed into my pie hole, a delicious egg and cheese sandwich on a lightly toasted hard roll.
No breakfast meats, but it was the last roll left over from something, and I could not have put it to better use.
-
That’s a Portuguese hard roll, for those unfamiliar with some of the default foodstuffs of the northeastern U.S. Best breakfast sandwich carrier ever. And no, they’re not actually hard. They have a wonderful texture.
-
Oy. Can hardly type on this phone. Back later, on a more appropriate device.
TOD:
I got my house paid off.
I just read an alarming report about an immense increase in dogs being admitted to emergency clinics due to cannabis poisoning. With the advent of dispensaries, people carelessly throw their used joint butts on the street, where they are gobbled up by unsuspecting dogs being walked by their unsuspecting owners.
It has always bothered me a lot to see smokers polluting; now, even more so.
-
Good morning.
-
I have a headache and congestion and a little bit of a cough. So that's good.
-
No one else in the family has gotten sick yet, which astounds me. I'm wondering if the tests were faulty. Maybe they'll get symptoms in a day or two.
-
I have worn a mask every time I have gone into a building. Every time. Except the Friday before Christmas, when I walked to the store to get feta cheese. I forgot to take one with me, and I was only going to be in there for a couple minutes.
So keep wearing masks, everyone.
-
Thursday morning greetings! I’m off to the Dayton ‘burbs for lunch today.
-
When the chorus returned to New York, a chorus member, whose name I no longer remember, asked me if I knew a Gary Holt, who was his host in Cologne. The last time I had seen Gary was in early June 1971, when he played cello for a wedding song I had written for my roommate's wedding.
Gary and Richard were fraternity brothers. What Richard remembers is that he was a great cellist and had perfect pitch.
I don’t wanna work today.
I took today off. I have to get my new car to the dealer for the assessment of the damaged window, then that estimate can be sent to my insurance company, then hopefully my car can be fixed shortly after that!
Topic of the Day: buying a new car and being asked to play a lead role in a show (even though it was probably an act of desperation on their part ;) ).
~~~COPING VIBES~~~ for DR Laura!!!!!!!

Why couldn't the sailor learn the alphabet?
-
He always got lost at "C."
-
I would very much like to stuff an egg sandwich made on a Portuguese roll down my own piehole.
-
My own gaping maw, as it were.
-
Yes, we have no bananas.
-
But we have page THREE.
-
Well it's late.....I have had a few phone calls this morning/afternoon and just talked and listened and then talked some more.
But at last here I am.
-
I like reading everyone's 2022 lists.
And I enjoyed reading MR BK's precis of the production of SAMI.
-
2022 Bests For Me:
Getting the 5-year cancer all free from my doctors.
Closing my uncle's estate - even though two checks have stubbornly NOT been cashed.
Finally get JOSEPH to the stage.
Celebrating the 50th wedding anniversary of my sister & her husband.
-
DR John continued vibes for your mother. It sounds encouraging they are giving her more time at rehab.
-
DR George I am sorry your last show as been cancelled.
-

Dogs got nicotine poisoning from those cigarettes. At least if you paid attention they were easier to spot.
-
I have a headache and congestion and a little bit of a cough. So that's good.
A little cough is very good, hopefully it won't last much longer.
-
No one else in the family has gotten sick yet, which astounds me. I'm wondering if the tests were faulty. Maybe they'll get symptoms in a day or two.
Or not. I credit the newness of my vaccination for not catching it from Keith. Your daughter never caught it from her boss.
-
I have worn a mask every time I have gone into a building. Every time. Except the Friday before Christmas, when I walked to the store to get feta cheese. I forgot to take one with me, and I was only going to be in there for a couple minutes.
So keep wearing masks, everyone.
We can't figure out where Keith got it since we go almost everywhere together. He wears a surgical mask while I wear an KF94 that fits better. On planes and when we travel he wears his KF94.
-
DR Laura you could have accidentally touched covid germs and then touched your face.

I don’t wanna work today.
I took today off. I have to get my new car to the dealer for the assessment of the damaged window, then that estimate can be sent to my insurance company, then hopefully my car can be fixed shortly after that!

DR George I am sorry your last show as been cancelled.
Thanks, Jane. It was a great show and, even though we had a great previous weekend, it deserved a better official ending. :-\

Thanks, again, Jane! It turns out that they didn't need to do the "official" (at a cost if $160!) assessment.

The guy at the dealership who helped me was able to get all the information and send it to my claims agent. Hopefully, she'll now be able to deal with it quickly.

I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep, I think.

I have never seen Jeanne Dielman or whatever that movie's name is.

Some folks say it is groundbreaking. I'd say it is a big investment of time.

I am dubious when a recipe claims to be the BEST chocolate cookie recipe EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am kinda scared of it having watched a set of Cantal Ackerman movies that bored the heck out of me.

One might even say I'm reticent.

I am dubious when a recipe claims to be the BEST chocolate cookie recipe EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
They should deliver some for me to judge beforehand.
-
Well, DR John G., I would say definitely not to watch it if you're the slightest bit drowsy.
-
I am dubious when a recipe claims to be the BEST chocolate cookie recipe EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
They should deliver some for me to judge beforehand.
That sounds like a great plan.
-
But it's so subjective, isn't it?
-
That way madness lies.
-
And it's not a very lengthy trip.
-
For me, at least.
-
But it's so subjective, isn't it?
Not really. I’m right. That’s the answer.

Coinkydink department. Listened a little to Maury Sings Yeston. In a song from his Beale Street musical version of La Cage from 1981, he has someone sing the name George more times than Sondheim did in Sunday, four years later.

Joshie has come and gone. I forgot to put some scores in my bag when I left City Center, and I need to work on them before I return to City Center next Wednesday. So, he kindly delivered them to me.

Good. Do they have the window there waiting to install it?

I agree, along with some for me to try.

Hi, vixmom.
I just tried to order Penzeys Sunny Paris on Amazon, as I have a gift card.
-
The 2.6 oz 2 cup jar is listed at $85.
That doesn’t sound right, does it?
-
I bought a tiny amount of it for $14 and a tiny amount of Penzeys smoked paprika for $12.
I only used Amazon because of that gift card.
What do you think is up with those prices?
-
DR Laura, I’m glad you’re feeling better.
-
Covid is funny.
My friend shared a room on a 7 day cruise.
Her roommate had Covid for the final 2 days, but my friend didn’t get it.
-
Healing vibes for John G.
-
Watched Glass Onion last night.
I enjoyed parts of it, and it was fun to figure out all of the cameos.
-
So, Marco's Pizza - literally a quarter of a mile from my house. Have ordered via DoorDash from there at least twenty times. So, I go to place the order and it's trying to charge an extra 1.49 for extended range delivery. I call. I get people who don't know why, don't understand what I'm talking about, hang up on me, and finally to shut me up just issue me a 5.00 credit. So, I use it and place my order. Normally, it shows up in fifteen minutes. But not this time. Then I can see the Dasher is on his way here - on the FREEWAY. Say what? Then I actually look at the store location and it's one in Tarzana, about ten MILES from here. Say what? I have no idea why it would do that, when it's never done that before. I called the nearby Marco's and told them they might want to check and see why that happened, as it may happen to others. Thankfully, the pizza was still hot.

Watching some college basketball.
-
Mostly reruns on the the networks tonight.

I went out for Tex-Mex. It’s a new-to-me place relatively close to home. Not bad. Carne guisada was a good choice because I haven’t had to cut anything. Plus two cheese enchiladas.

TOD:

Yes it is.
-
DR VIXMOM - I know, right?
Of course I completely forgot my new great niece Audrey and my two twin new nephews Duke & Nolan.....all of whom are too cute to be believed....
But their parents don't post photos on Facebook.....so I can't share.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....
Duke and Nolan are fraternal twins....one with blond hair and one with dark brown hair.....as I have posted before they have a 20 month old brother, Grayson. I love to see the pictures of the three of them together.
-

What do you think is up with those prices?
If something seems high I suggest comparing the Amazon price to the product website. Look for items that are bargains on Amazon vs high. See's candy is ridiculous on Amazon. Of course I realize you wanted to get something special with the gift card and splurged :)
-
But the pizza was fine.
-
That's what counts.
-
Page seven is waiting in the wings.
-
As am I.

:o Hot food and a credit more than the extra charge, not bad considering.

I have met a few Luna's.

If one person on a cruise ship got COVID, I wonder how many others were infected.

Not that I go on cruises, but the idea of them would be a hard sell for me right now.

There is more snow on the way. Some tonight, then another significant amount at the beginning of next week.

Not that I go on cruises, but the idea of them would be a hard sell for me right now.
We have one booked for Japan. At the time Japan was only letting tourist in for group trips and we couldn't book on our own. We are a bit concerned.

Yup spelled backwards is puy.
And puy is the middle syllable of Dupuytren.

There is more snow on the way. Some tonight, then another significant amount at the beginning of next week.
It is possible that it could get into the 80s next week.

I liked that little restaurant. I liked it even more when I noticed, while paying, that they had Mexican Fresca made with sugar. My absolute favorite. I got a bottle to go.
-
I'm agog, simply agog.
-
I'm feeling antsy.

Will there be anything to watch or do I have to choose something I've seen.

This is the conundrum I face.

Andrew Tate has been arrested for rape and human trafficking after his social media dust up with Greta T.

The two are not related but police found him because of the video he posted to her.
-
Good evening.
-
Today I made some chicken soup out of frozen chicken, frozen veggies, and the Instant Pot. Not bad.
-
Last week I bought pancake mix. I usually make pancakes from scratch, but this only required water. With eggs at $6 per dozen, I couldn't resist.
-
I'm going to make a dumpling out of pancake mix and cook it atop the soup for my dinner when I need to take my pills.

My sister-in-law in Indiana has a cat named Luna.

All that sugar does.

I don't care.

I'm full of air.

Well, there is clearly gaslighting going on here.

Clearly.

No one does ennui like Anouilh.

But on we go, pretending.

Sorry, page nine, someone or something is having sport with us.

Why. on this night, do we recline?

~~~CONTINUED RECOVERY AND REHABILITATION VIBES~~~ for the DM of DR John G.!!!!!
Thank you, all. One of the other accomplishments of my year was getting to celebrate Mom’s 95th with her.
-
Last night we watched the first episode of season 3, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. It looks like we will have another good season of the show.
-
Compared the price of Sunny Paris.
2.6 oz is $85 on Amazon.
$42.95 on the Penzeys website.
The list of most popular names for baby girls in 2022 is out.
-
Luna is #7.
-
Luna comes in at #9 in New York.
Emma is #1.
The house in Glass Onion is listed for sale on Zillow.
It’s actually a well done, very funny listing, especially when one notices the identity of the listing agent.
😄
-
BK, i may have missed this, but do you have an idea of when SAMI will begin streaming on Amazon Prime?
-
DR Jane, when are you booked to travel to Japan?
What are the ports on the cruise?
-
Has anyone here visited Buenos Aires, Argentina?
-
Other than visiting it by listening to Evita?
😉
-
Has anyone here visited Buenos Aires, Argentina?
Top of my to-see list.
-
Three years ago, my dad died. I thought the anniversary was tomorrow.
-
DR John, my daughter is going to Buenos Aires next week as part of her Master’s Degree in Social Work through NYU.
-
The emphasis is on childhood and adolescent trauma.
-
Apparently, there is a great deal of childhood trauma in Buenos Aires, stemming from the brutal dictatorship of the 1970’s.
It has had a huge effect on the children of those who survived.
-
I have participated in case studies on children of Holocaust survivors.
Amazing how much we have in common, and how that trauma passed on to children of survivors, first generation Americans.
Higher than normal incidents of anxiety and depression.
-
Hello. Page 10!
There’s also tango.
Ah, of course, tango!
I saw the trauma to those in Romania under their horrible dictatorship.
-
That's an amazing itinerary, DR Jane.
-
~~~VIBES~~~ that it all works out!
-
ON we must push.

Or we will be mush.
-
ELEVEN!
-
I believe that the Christmas episode of All Creatures Great and Small that aired last week was actually the final episode of Season 2, and not an entirely new Christmas special.
-
But Season Three is coming.
-
She'll be comin' 'round the mountain.
-
I'm winding down.
-
Some of you will be breathing a sigh of relief.

Only one more sleep until New Year's Eve!

Good night, friends.

The itinerary does sound wonderful, Jane.

Reacher is fun. I’m hooked. But I also feel it isn’t great. Maybe as we get a few episodes in. Loving Bruce McGill. Great to see him again.
-
The 2.6 oz 2 cup jar is listed at $85.
That doesn’t sound right, does it?
Sounds like someone is buying from Penzeys then doubling the price. A 2 cup jar on the Penzeys website is 42.95

I guess i shoukd have caughtup (ketchuped?) before replying

A friend is looking for sheet music (preferably) or a lead sheet for "When Our Ship Comes Sailing In" from Gershwin's Oh, Kay!.
I'm coming up empty, but I never give up on something before asking here. :)
-
Cutting a fingernail with only one hand is no fun.
-
Just sayin’.
-
Don’t have a lot of Gershwin sheet music. Sorry.
-
I find it very amusing that Andrew Tate was caught and arrested because his choice of pizza gave him away.
Am seeing references to Pizza Tate.
🍕 😄
-
Be careful with that scissors, John.
-
Thanks for the advice, Iris. The good hand survived unharmed.

Don't get it elsewhere, let me check my source first.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
With my viewing I'm finished.
-
Now I shall listen to some music and eat some caramels the Darling Daughter made herself.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
Just talked to my mother in Jersey.
Old or New?
-
Has anyone here visited Buenos Aires, Argentina?
Yes.
-
Continued vibes for DR John’s dear mother!!
-
Oh, we are getting close.
-
I am no longer able to speak my posts!.
-
I have to do it the old fashioned way
-
#330
-
I got my new oxygen tubing from Amazon today
-
I had been holding the old one together with Scotch tape.
-
I’m pretending that I am able to breathe better now.
-
Once again, George deserts us - rabbit hole anyone? Just think where we'd be if he showed up. We'd be on page 13 and doing a jig. But noooo.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
I posted them.
-
Ah, well, nothing to be done.
-
Nothing at all.
-
Not a damn thing.
-
Not even a darn thing.
-
If there was something to be done I'd do it.
-
You'll notice that I, BK, have not gone down a rabbit hole.
-
I have stayed above ground.
-
The guy at the dealership who helped me was able to get all the information and send it to my claims agent. Hopefully, she'll now be able to deal with it quickly.
I got an e-mail response this afternoon that it's approved and I now have an appointment next Thursday to FINALLY and ACTUALLY get my window replaced!
-
Oh, and I'm home!
-
You'll notice that I, BK, have not gone down a rabbit hole.
Is rabbit kosher?
-
I didn't go down any rabbit hole.
-
The prodigal George shows up.
-
Better late than never.
-
My friend Shelly called me and asked if I wanted to go to the movies, and I said yes!
-
No one should be out this late.
-
The streets are dangerous.
-
There are a million stories in the naked city.
-
And you could have been one of them.
-
What did you see?
-
I asked if she would mind if my friend Margo could go, since Margo and I go to a lot of movies together, and Shelly said yes, and Margo said yes, so we all went to see the new Avatar movie in IMAX 3-D!
-
Wow! It's Page 13!!
-
And what awful movie did you see?
-
I figured it was Avatar 9.
-
We all enjoyed the special effects and the 3-D (and I love the IMAX format)...but we didn't love the story. ::)
-
I didn't like the first one so I have no interest in the new one. And I have never seen a feature film in IMAX.
-
I don't like the shape of the IMAX screen - I want WIDE, like Cinerama.
-
There was a lot to really like about it, but there was a lot of military toxic masculinity that I'm just really tired of in sci-fi.
-
I asked if she would mind if my friend Margo could go, since Margo and I go to a lot of movies together, and Shelly said yes, and Nargo said yes, so we all went to see the new Avatar movie in IMAX 3-D!
AND?
-
I do not like toxic masculinity or femininity.
-
I don't like toxic waste.
-
I have a toxic waist.
-
I don't like the shape of the IMAX screen - I want WIDE, like Cinerama.
It's definitely wide, but I've seen a couple of movies in IMAX and then in regular widescreen, and it's cropped for the widescreen, so I feel like I'm missing some visuals.
-
I'm sipping a Diet Dr Pepper, a Harry Stearns favorite liquid, but diet.
-
IMAX is square.
-
Tall and square.
-
I think this is worth seeing in IMAX at least. The 3-D was cool, but not necessary.
-
And?
-
I don't love 3-D either.
-
Dr. Pepper always tasted dusty to me.
-
I am conventional in that regard.
-
IMAX is square.
Yes, and not cropped. Widescreen movies seem like everything is too close...for me, that is.
-
Dr. Pepper always tasted dusty to me.
I was never a fan of Dr. Pepper.
-
Dusty Dr Pepper (no period after Dr - I had to learn that the hard way for the two Harry Stearns books).
-
Well, Dr Pepper was never a fan of you.
-
Wow...we're almost to Page 14!
-
Well, Dr Pepper was never a fan of you.
So, we're even. ;)
-
I'm a fan of all weird drinks.
-
I haven't had an Orange Crush since I was six. Do they still make such things?
-
I liked Bubble-Up back in the day.
-
I'll have a LOT of ketchuping on today's posts!
-
Cream soda is a favorite, so is Black Raspberry.
-
Page fourteen has made its glorious entrance. Amazing!
-
You know what - I closed the topic but we're way too close to 400 posts.
-
May as well get there.
-
It doesn't happen that often.
-
Not really.
-
Almost there.
-
There almost.
-
You know what - I closed the topic but we're way too close to 400 posts.
Cool!
-
One more.
-
I haven't had an Orange Crush since I was six. Do they still make such things?
Yes, they do.
-
400!!
-
And we made it.
