Well, you've read the notes, the notes were so 2023, and now it is time for you to post until the 2023 cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SUCCESS!
-
And just so it's in 2023:

Sorry I’m late…meant to post this at midnight West Coast Time.
Wishing all of you wonderful folks here at HHW a joyful and peaceful 2023.
Also…please keep the jokes and recipes coming! 😊
-
Have I ever given the recipe for the famous tuna pasta salad?
-
No, and you definitely should, BK!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Happy New Year!
-
That cranberry nut bread looks good enough to eat.
-
;D
-
Good morning, all!
-
Fun bash last night.
-
Happy New Year to one and all!
-
I had a positively horrible night of it. I turned off the lights around 9:30, fell asleep shortly thereafter, and woke around 11:45 to a fierce barrage of fireworks that had thrown the cats into panic mode. I believe they ere all hiding under the bed. The noise continued until 12:45 or so, so I put on my glasses and read more of Shy until 1:30. Then I slept very badly until the alarm rang at 6:30.
-
I spent much of the night worrying about the cats, Thatch in particularly, since he's got a bad heart. Annabelle came back t sleep on her pillow next to me, Stella showed up to check in shortly thereafter, but much as I called Thatch's name, he never showed up until early morning, around 4:30 or so, when he settled next to me and stayed until the alarm rang.

~~~STARTING-THE-NEW-BOOK VIBES~~~ for BK!!!!!!!!
-
~~~CONTINUED MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ as well!!!!!!!!
-
I have much to do today: assemble the laundry, which I believe I will end up doing tomorrow, attempt some tidying, although these days it's much more like arranging deck chairs on the Titanic, and finish another number for Joshie.
-
Good morning, all, and more wishes for a prosperous 2023.
-
I couldn’t sleep.
-
~~~STARTING-THE-NEW-BOOK VIBES~~~ for BK!!!!!!!!
A double dose!
-
Happy New Year!
I had a nice New Year's dinner at the country club with Butch and Sharon. I had corn-and-shrimp chowder, a Caesar Salad, Filet Mignon with asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes, and I finished with tiramisu and coffee. We met at 5:30 p.m. and we were done by 7:30 p.m.
I spent my evening watching two football games: TCU vs. Michigan and Georgia vs. Ohio State. They were very good, intensely fought games. TCU and Georgia won, but both games went down to the final plays.
I also watched a few more episodes of "True Blood" before calling it a night.
-
This afternoon will be visitation at the funeral home for my cousin Rob's family.
-
Corn and shrimp Chowder sounds delicious.
-
I had a wonderful night's sleep.
For the first time in months, my sinuses cleared enough for me to use my CPAP! I slept through the night without waking once.
I feel so much more refreshed this morning than I have felt in a long time.
-
Or should I say Chowdah?
A Simpsons reference.
-
I feel so much more refreshed this morning than I have felt in a long time.
Good news.
-
One nagging item, though: While my dreams were odd but harmless, I recall thinking I was going to fail a subject in school because I had not been going to class. In fact, I have had this dream before. I believe I am in a class that I didn't like and wanted to drop. But...I had failed to withdraw and feared a failing grade that might prevent me from graduating.
I don't know where that comes from, because nothing like that ever happened.
-
Corn and shrimp Chowder sounds delicious.
It really was. I like shrimp well enough, but wasn't sure about it being in a chowder. I reasoned that the corn and shrimp are key elements in a "low country boil" (which is a really delicious combination of corn on the cob, shrimp, potatoes and sausages), so it would probably be fine. And it was.
The first Page 2 of 2023!!!
-
New Year’s Day greetings! We made it, simultaneously, to midnight and the end of the Peach Bowl and then went to bed.
-
Fr. Richard is at church this morning and I’m about to prepare a nice brunch for when he gets home.
-
Happy New Year!
-
Good morning.
-
My neighbors outdid themselves last night with the fireworks.
-
It was so bad that even Leonard hid. I've never seen him hide from fireworks before.
-
My grandson enjoyed holding sparklers last night.
-
Until he burned his finger.
-
I took my final dose of Paxlovid this morning. I'm feeling good (and have been for a few days), and I'll be glad when that bad taste is over with.
-
That's good, DR Laura.
-
I finally got all my ducks in a row.
-
Just in time.
-
Or it's about time.
-
Take your pick.
-
Pick your take.
-
Happy New year
-
I went to bed immediately after midnight
-
Any predictions for 2023?
-
I predict that DR John G. will eat cranberry bread sometime in 2023.
-
Vixdad set my side of the bed to its firmest setting and I managed to sleep all night, just waking once to use the necessary
-
That is good news, DR vixmom.
-
~~~CONTINUED RAPID RECUPERATION AND HEALING VIBES~~~ for you!!!!!!
-
I predict that DR George will play Phase 10 sometime in 2023.
-
I predict that BK will write a new book sometime in 2023.
-
I am still in pain
-
We are going to keep our long planned brunch appointment with friends though
-
If I move slowly I should be ok
-
~~~VIBES OF CONDOLENCE AND COMFORT~~~ today for DR Ron Pulliam and family
-
In #foodtrends, everyone seems to be going crazy over boards. Cheese boards. Appetizer boards.
Boards, boards, boards.
-
Three
-
Don't get bored of the board.
-
If you see a board, feel free to bore through it.
-
I am content with dips and spreads.
-
Sending hugs to Ron and family
-
.
-
We may get another foot of snow starting Monday afternoon.
Happy New Year, DR Donald. Thanks for the new show.
Ely Cathedral's iconic octagonal dome.
-
Their "lady chapel" (Chapter House) has some of the best acoustics to be found anywhere in the world.
-
I have a similar recurring dream.
Is it possible to both approve the previous speaker AND demand more wine?
Marwhoreie Taylor Greene and the orange one only know here, here.
-
Continued vibes for Vixmom. Avoid doing the Twist.
-
We did the Twist last night. Like we did last summer.
In my recurring dream, it’s closing time at the library and I can’t get everyone to leave. And, trust me, it happened several times in the course of my career.
-
I predict that DR George will play Phase 10 sometime in 2023.
You are most correct, Singdaw!
Ely Cathedral's iconic octagonal dome.
Poor baby.
Cute. Send me a photo.
Oh no :o I didn't expect that.
Good.
-
I am intrigued by the little "bump outs" in DR George's map where parts of a state follow a different time zone than the rest of their state.
I am assuming it has something to do with the surrounding geography.
-
Is it possible to both approve the previous speaker AND demand more wine?
That would be DR Ginny, but so noted. :)
-
Singdaw that church is beautiful.
-
It is near to Cambridge, DR Jane, and I was fortunate to visit it.
-
I watched The Banshees of Inisheran last night....almost had to turn on the closed captions.....but after a few minutes, I was all right.
Did you like it?
-
I have done two racks of dishes. More to do.
-
But now the hand breathes.
-
"The hand breathes" sounds like it could be a lyric line from "Poems" in Pacific Overtures.
-
Oh well DR singdaw it can just be "on account."
-
DR JOHN G yes I did....but I have to watch it again.
-
I have HBO MAX because I have an HBO subscription. TCM is not included in that for me on Comcast, I had to buy some kind of sports package to get TCM a few years ago.
I'm up, I'm up - eight and a half hours of sleep.
As soon as I'm coherent and can focus my eyeballs, I'll begin a new book.
I only have HBO through my cable provider (Concast/Xfinity) and the HBO Max I get DOES include TCM and other channels.
-
If you click on the three lines at the upper left and scroll down, do you not have icon links to the other channels available through HBO Max?
-
It isn't the live channel, though.
-
I don't know if I will ever read all the posts from last night.
-
Maybe later ;D
-
Good… um, afternoon, all.
-
Enjoying some generous recliner time today.
-
5ive!!!!!
-
I proofread "I've Never Said I Love You," then spent the day lazing it away and dozing with Stella. The cats have eaten, and I'm contemplating dinner.
-
Taking a break as I've been writing for the past two hours. I finessed what I'd written and have written about eight more pages. I'm not sure how many pages of this book I'll do a day because the style of it is weird and so pages take longer to write. But I'm enjoying it so far.
-
Oh, no...Anita Pointer, Singer of The Pointer Sisters, Dies at 74 (https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/news/anita-pointer-singer-of-the-pointer-sisters-dies-at-74/ar-AA15RPyB).
They performed at the Washington Center in the early 2000s, and at that time only two of the original sisters performed. They included one of their daughters to make the trio. I ushered for that show and they were fantastic.
-
And now, I'm off. First, to visit with my friend Shelly for a bit before I then go to my mom's for tacos!
Have a good rest of the day, all!
Back from lunch with friends. I ate too much. Need a nap.
-
Thanks for the link DR ELMORE.
-
I never noticed the three lines on the MAX page DR GEORGE.
If it's not TCM Live....is it like the TCM OnDemand....you can choose a movie to watch that has been on the service?
I like HBO MAX because of the latest movies they have and a couple of their series including Peacemaker. I also like the documentaries.
-
Well we had lots of gunfire at midnight last night.
A friend in the Indy city had her sliding glass door shattered by a stray bullet.....scary.
-
I think I've written about eleven new pages, in addition to the fourteen or fifteen I'd written in advance and that I futzed and finessed. So, I think I'll shower now and then begin cooking. I may write another few pages after people leave. But so far I'm on page twenty-six so that's pretty amazing actually.
-
You know, lest we forget, page six is waiting in the wings.
-
As am I.
-
Showered and wil shortly start cooking.
-
Well we had lots of gunfire at midnight last night.
A friend in the Indy city had her sliding glass door shattered by a stray bullet.....scary.
My son was video calling them lighting the sparklers, and big loud BANGS loud enough to make them all jump kept happening. I told them they were gunshots and were close by. He was sure it was just fireworks. I was so glad when they went back inside.
-
It is still very stormy here. The Weather People say another wave is due to come through shortly.
-
We arrived at 12:20 the beautiful venue where Frank & Pam made a 12:30 reservation for today’s brunch
-
From DR Singdaw:
Apparently Dorothy Parker wrote to Robert Benchley on December 31, 1929:
Come right over here and explain why they are having another year.
That describes exactly how I felt this year ;D
-
The hostess told us they had already seated some of our party and brought us out to a beautiful table on the Bay where Leslie and Joe awaited us
-
I am glad we had a special treat with brunch out today.
-
We sat and chatted and drank mimosas while we waited for Pam and Frank
-
I then followed it with a lovely walk in the sun.
-
JB gives the cranberry walnut bread his beak of approval.
-
Seven!
-
( I purposely took no pain meds before brunch to allow me to have a drink)
-
Shouldn’t we be on page 22 by now?
-
Finally at 12:50 I checked my phone to text them and saw Frank had texted 5 minutes earlier to ask if we were on the way
-
So I texted back to say we had been waiting at the table for a half hour.
-
( I purposely took no pain meds before brunch to allow me to have a drink)
Smart.
-
Almost immediately Frank and Pam appeared
-
They had been seated at an entirely different table inside the restaurant while we were on the patio
-
From DR John:
I liked the beginning of The Duel, but it went on far too long.
I liked the end, the middle was the problem-lol. I am glad I read it.
-
Our table was better so they stayed with us
-
Then we went to the buffet
-
Seated right by the buffet table was one of my Pastors and her husband and a friend
-
I had called out of setting up the altar and had watched church on the iPad
-
But at least they saw I was really in some distress
-
With that short novel, after the long one about the Brooklyn Bridge, I finished the year having read 132 books.
-
Leslie and I met back in 1973 on a church retreat when I was 16 and she was 15.
-
That was one more than last year.
-
I met the other three in 1976 when I was introduced to a “coffeehouse” that met in the basement of the local Presbyterian church ( yeah like in the first Muppet movie)
-
And eight more than the year before that.
-
Pam introduced me to Vixdad
-
And I brought Leslie to coffeehouse where she met Joe
-
Nice capture last night from DR George.
-
What a fun bash you all had.
-
This afternoon will be visitation at the funeral home for my cousin Rob's family.
I hope it went a well as possible.
-
( I purposely took no pain meds before brunch to allow me to have a drink)
Smart.
-
They had been seated at an entirely different table inside the restaurant while we were on the patio
:o
-
Our table was better so they stayed with us
I am glad you didn't have to move.
-
Then we went to the buffet
Ouch for you.
-
Seated right by the buffet table was one of my Pastors and her husband and a friend
Nice.
-
But at least they saw I was really in some distress
Do you think the cane tipped them off ;)
-
Pam introduced me to Vixdad
She must be your best friend, or most appreciated friend :)
-
And I brought Leslie to coffeehouse where she met Joe
Great connections here.
-
'night
-
Everyone seems to be having perfectly lovely first days of the year.
-
I think that's swell.
-
New Year's Day get-together is done and it was just a perfect way to spend it with friends - Alby Potts and his ever-lovin' Kirsten Fife, Marshall Harvey, Kay Cole and her ever-lovin' Michael Lamont, neighbor Nick and li'l ol' me. Much faux chicken stroganoff was consumed, along with tuna pasta salad, and everyone brought dessert and I must be very careful because all the desserts were left behind.
-
I already cleaned up most of the stuff.
-
Now, I think I'll try writing another few pages, then I'll sit on my couch like so much fish.
-
Nick brought K's Donuts - so I'm having half a peanut butter chocolate thing and half an apple fritter.
-
Sounds like just what the Doctor ordered.
-
The Doctor always seems to know what to order.
-
I'm thinking of going into the wedding cake business.
-
I think I'm going to start with something simple.
-
And then work my way up.
-
In other news, I'm ready to start the New Year.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Enjoyed that movie a lot. I forgot Mark Knopfler did the score. Very playful.
-
I liked the movie much better than the book.
-
Jane, I managed 162 books this past year, about 22 more than the year before.
-
Now let’s see if I can finish the first for 2023.
-
DR RON PULLIAM and DR singdaw - the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that dreams of failing a class or exam can mean that we feel unprepared for an upcoming waking life event....
I long ago came to terms with feeling unprepared for waking life events to come.
I demand a refund of $35.
-
To all who wished me and family well:
The visitation was quite an event. I arrived at 1:30 p.m., half an hour early, and it was already underway. The line did not abate until about 3:50 p.m.
I met a lot of people for the first time, saw folks I hadn't seen in a while, and reunited with family members I hadn't seen since my Uncle's passing in late February.
There were good memories being shared and a lot of joy that Rob's pain was over. He was a well-loved member of the community, and it turned out for his family.
-
From DR Singdaw:
Apparently Dorothy Parker wrote to Robert Benchley on December 31, 1929:
Come right over here and explain why they are having another year.
That describes exactly how I felt this year ;D
Dorothy Parker also wrote that she once went to a Halloween party at a friend's apartment. Upon arrival, the friend exclaimed that she was just in time...that everyone was "ducking for apples".
Parker replied that except for a "typographical error", that activity was the story of her life.
I can relate.
-
It's my bedtime. I have a morning memorial service tomorrow at 11.
I need some restorative sleep so I don't scare anyone who might attend.
-
Love it.
-
Finished Mister Owita’s Guide to Gardening. Excellent memoir. Tear-jerker.
-
I’m worn out.
-
But first …
-
Let’s move on …
-
Nine!
-
Good night, all.
-
Wrote another two pages, then watched a good motion picture. Now, I think I'll listen to some music.
-
Had another helping of tuna pasta salad because why not?
-
Listening to Miklos Rozsa's score for Young Bess, a film about Young Bess. It may well be a Rozsa kind of night.
-
It may well be.
-
Be it may well.
-
Wonder if George and TCB will make an appearance?
-
I shan't be eating another helping of tuna pasta salad until the 'morrow.
-
Young Bess is a lovely score.
-
Very Rozsa - no mistaking his sound or music for anyone else's.
-
Frankly, I'm not certain this new book will be interesting to anyone, but I have to say I'm having fun so far - we'll have to see what the Muse thinks. I'll probably send her the first fifty pages just to make sure I'm on the right track.
-
I may have overdone the eating today.
-
Although in the scheme of things I only had two small helpings of the faux stroganoff, maybe four or five ounces' worth.
-
As with last week, I think tomorrow will not seem like a Monday even though it is a Monday.
-
Apparently, I'll be seeing the first cut of episode six on Tuesday.
-
With that short novel, after the long one about the Brooklyn Bridge, I finished the year having read 132 books.
Wow!
-
Well, George is here.
-
No TCB.
-
Perhaps George will make a few more postings.
-
I'm told that page ten is waiting in the wings.
-
As am I.
-
Nice capture last night from DR George.
Thanks, Jane. :)
-
Listening to Rozsa's Madame Bovary, a film about Madame Bovary.
-
I think I may have eaten just a bit too much today.
-
Just popped a Pepcid.
-
Will try and be in bed by one-thirty at the latest, as I'd like to be up by ten.
-
No TCB.
I’ve been here since 11 o’clock
Yikes! :o It's beautiful, but my goodness...talk about over the top!!
-
You have?
-
I did not see you.
-
Page ten has made its entrance.
-
In other news, I'm ready to start the New Year.
-
You have?
Yes, when else do I have time to read the posts?
-
Wonder if George and TCB will make an appearance?
Yes, we will....and have. :)
-
Always good news when the boys are here.
-
I think I may have eaten too much.
-
Apparently, I'll be seeing the first cut of episode six on Tuesday.
Cool!
-
Did Madame Bovary have an ovary?
-
I did not see you.
My name is up there on top with your name, and George’s name.
-
My phone did not ring the entire day.
-
I don’t think I actually ate today. I grazed a little bit, but no actual meal.
-
I never look at the top.
-
Wrong. I ordered in from McDonald’s. The food was ice cold. I hate a little bit but most of it went in the garbage.
-
Welcome 109 GUESTS.
-
I had a rum raisin cake today, gluten-free.
-
No raisins, either.
-
I cannot stand hot food that's cold nor cold food that's hot.
-
Also, no cake.
-
I live for gluten.
-
Ok, just rum.
-
I'm rootin' for gluten.
-
Wrong. I ordered in from McDonald’s. The food was ice cold. I hate a little bit but most of it went in the garbage.
That's terrible! >:(
-
Does Putin eat gluten?
-
Fun to be out late with you 3 guys.
-
Does Wayne Newton eat gluten?
-
I may need to do this more often.
-
Does Putin eat gluten?
Putin is gluten. That’s why I avoid both of them.
-
Can’t sleep anyway.
-
Did Val Lewton eat gluten?
-
TCB, is your surgery next week?
-
Only intelligent people avoid Putin.
-
I'm doing a new musical revue about Putin - called Putin it Together.
-
You’re darn tootin’, I eat gluten!
-
The opening number is Putin on the Ritz.
-
I got a million of 'em.
-
We'll stay all night and sing 'em all.
-
I see page eleven has made its entrance.
-
TCB, is your surgery next week?
It is currently scheduled for January 13.
-
I may have eaten too much.
-
I’m relieved that you’ll soon be getting relief. ❤️
-
I may need to do this more often.
You are welcome anytime Iris.
-
Good night, gentlemen.
-
Thanks, TCB!
-
George has gone down a rabbit hole.
-
Do they still have Welsh Rarebit? What is it?
-
I’m relieved that you’ll soon be getting relief. ❤️
Thank you.
-
I have not gone down a rabbit hole.
-
If it happens.
-
But I may have eaten too much.
-
I feel it will happen.
-
Do they still have Welsh Rarebit? What is it?
I believe it is a cheese sauce over toast points?
-
What exactly is Welsh Rarebit and is there paprika involved.
-
You are correct - a cheese sauce over toast.
-
I wonder if it's still served. I used to see it on all kinds of menus when I was a kid.
-
I want some damn Welsh Rarebit.
-
Now.
-
When I was a kid, I have a babysitter who served it, but it was toast with sliced tomatoes on it with cheese sauce over the top. I believe she used Velveta.
-
Do they still have Welsh Rarebit? What is it?
Just looking at the Bing Wallpapery (https://bingwallpaper.anerg.com) archive.
-
Yes, it can be had at Musso and Frank and Tam O'Shanter and a few other places.
-
And believe it or not, you can get frozen Welsh Rarebit from Stouffer's. I may just try that.
-
PAGE TWELVE DANCE!!
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I may have eaten too much.
-
And believe it or not, you can get frozen Welsh Rarebit from Stouffer's. I may just try that.
I've never even heard of Welsh Rarebit.
-
I've read the new notes.
-
I may have eaten too much.
Been there...done that. ::)
-
I've never had it but I intend to remedy that, oh, yes, I intend to remedy that.
-
Yes, it can be had at Musso and Frank and Tam O'Shanter and a few other places.
Do you eat at Musso and Frank very often?
-
I've never had it but I intend to remedy that, oh, yes, I intend to remedy that.
Can't wait for the report!
-
The dish was originally called Welsh rabbit, but they change the name since it contains no rabbit.
