Well, you've read the notes, the notes stated that I started a new book, number twenty-three, and now it is time for you to post until the twenty-three cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ACCOMPLISHED!
-
~~~Vibes for a Major Miracle for BK!!~~~
-
Yesterday, I was going to go to my mom's house but not until 3:30 or so, so I went and visited my friend Shelly, who lives in the next building from me. We played a game of Phase 10 (I won ;) ) and we chatted...she can be a talker.
-
After one game, I left and went to my mom's for our quasi-weekly family dinner. This time, we had tacos (quite delish), and then we played a game of Phase 10. My mom won.
-
Then we all left and since it was early enough, I visited my friend Shelly again, and we played another two games of Phase 10. We each won a game. Then I came home.
-
Today, we have the day off. I MUST do some more laundry!
-
Good morning, friends.
Happiest of new wishes to everyone. Health and happiness and prosperity and success to all.
Spent the time with family and friends.
Except when your foreign neighbor Keith received eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters.
Weird.
-
Good morning, all!
-
It's been a frustrating morning so far. The computer is wonky today. I had to restart it, and it's been misbehaving badly ever since. I need a new one.
-
I finished Shy last night. Mary Rodgers was an amazing lady and I wish I had known her better. I may move on to Harvey Fierstein's biography next, but I have several other books to consider, like Paul Salsini's Sondheim and Me, the Sondheim Review saga. I always found it such an ass-kissing magazine.
-
The laundry is ready to go, but my legs do not want to take the many walks to the basement to accomplish it. Today I need to proofread "One Person," which is longer than it is on the OBCR.
-
DR John G., once you've finished the cranberry nut bread, you may want to consider this strawberry banana bread.
-
Good morning, all.
Today is a federal holiday.
-
I have a memorial service to attend at 11 a.m.
-
No one else must die for a while, please.
-
Death should take a short holiday.
-
I continued my "True Blood" watching last night and am well into season two.
-
It's a beautiful morning here in Johnston SC.
Temperature is 46 degrees. Expected high today is 72.
Break out my shorts, please.
-
I made no resolutions for the new year. It's just as well because I've never managed to keep my previous ones.
I will endeavor to make it through the year in good health and good cheer.
Except when your foreign neighbor Keith received eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters.
Weird.
Indeed it is!
-
Needs must:
1. Coffee!
2. Something to munch upon.
3. Get ready to leave by 10:30 a.m.
-
I thought I could get us to page 2, but now I am not sure.
-
It might happen, though.
-
Here I go again.
-
I started the second Page 2 of 2023. That all I can do.
-
Good morning.
-
Negative.
-
I probably could have tested yesterday, but why leave the house on a rainy Sunday when you were already successful at giving up your church responsibilities for the day? I zoomed in.
-
I would also eat turnips with alacrity
-
Yesterday I watched church over the interweb
-
Then Vixdad and I went to brunch with friends
-
Then we came home and napped in front of the TV while the Columbo marathon played
-
Then we woke up and watched more Columbo
-
Then we went to bed
You know what's funny? I sent you that concert via We Transfer yesterday!
-
That was our New Years Day
-
Good morning, all.
-
In fact I sent several DRs that concert yesterday via We Transfer. Did no one receive it?
-
Access-a-Ride booked for tomorrow morning. Pray for Rosemary's Baby.
-
Not the best night of sleep. Tummy ache and too warm.
-
In fact I sent severa; DRs that concert yesterday via We Transfer. Did no one receive it?
I did. Thank you. I will download it today.
-
I need to stir.
-
Good morning, all.
In fact I sent severa; DRs that concert yesterday via We Transfer. Did no one receive it?
Yes, and I’m afraid I’m behind on most things from yesterday. Will be downloading it today. Thank you!
I had Welsh Rarebit on my first ever visit to a Du-Par’s, that beautiful one on the Miracle Mile, in late 1972. I think I was so taken with the place that I felt I should order something I’d never had instead of the usual sandwich or something like that.
I haven’t had it since. I wonder if I’ve even seen it on a menu since then. There’s nothing exotic about it despite its curious name. I guess I’d call it a comfort type food, and I would be very happy if someone would bring me comfort by serving me some later today.
-
After I got laid off about 12 years ago, I started up a food web site that had a good, seven-year run. In the early years, I tried dishes that were new to me. One was Welsh rarebit. Good stuff. It’s also when I learned the valuable lesson that if you wanted cheese to melt, don’t use the already shredded stuff.
-
Starting Hal Prince’s directorial debut, Something for Everyone. He was not good behind the camera. But I’m finding John Kander’s score interesting.
As DR RON PULLIAM wrote today is a Federal Holiday so there is NO postal delivery.....
If MR BK was thinking about going INTO the bank....he might check the website.
-
My washing machine is in the final spin with the dark clothing.....then they shall be placed in the drying machine and whites will go into the washing machine.
I hope I am not canceled.
-
We have a dense fog warning which I will take over a winter storm warning EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK.
-
No refunds DR RON PULLIAM.
DR ELMORE I said thank you in a post yesterday....but it may have just flown by.
I just KNOW she's gonna be a big STAR!
-
Something for Everyone is so much worse than I remember.
-
And there’s still 25 minutes left.
-
From DR John:
Jane, I managed 162 books this past year, about 22 more than the year before.
That's great. I find I am reading slower every year because of my eyes, very frustrating.
-
From John:
Now let’s see if I can finish the first for 2023.
Same here. :)
-
DR Ron I am glad the visitation went well and comfort was found.
-
From DR Irs:
Ok, just rum.
;D
-
My mother used to make Welsh Rarebit. I tasted it once.
DR Ron I am sorry you need to attend another service.
I probably could have tested yesterday, but why leave the house on a rainy Sunday when you were already successful at giving up your church responsibilities for the day? I zoomed in.
;D
-
How do you get out of here, again?
-
I tell you, my grade-school shoebox diorama skills have stood me in good stead lo these many years.
-
Monday afternoon greetings! We’re watching the Rose Parade - looks like a beautiful day in SoCal.
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.
-
Banks aren't open today???
-
That seems weirdly weird to me.
-
Is that a new thing if Christmas Day and New Year's Day fall on Sunday?
-
I'll start futzing and finessing shortly.
-
I wasn’t expecting the Rose Parade to be today, either.
-
What a weird pair of holiday weekends.
-
What a weird pair of holiday weekends.
I agree, DR ChasSmith.
-
Yes. Because the holidays were Sundays, the official day is the following Monday.
-
Went to At Home’s 75% off Christmas sale. Found a few good things.
-
Is that a new thing if Christmas Day and New Year's Day fall on Sunday?
I seem to recall it happening before, certainly not when we were young.
-
I wasn’t expecting the Rose Parade to be today, either.
Neither was I.
-
Then went to Costco. It was a madhouse.
-
That reminds me I need to tell Keith his cousin, along with his rotary club, won best float in some category.
-
Now having some Persian food, lentil soup and a salad of tomato and cucumber.
-
Gratuitous post 99!
-
Done. I just told Keith to go to his cousin's FB page to see the float.
-
What a weird pair of holiday weekends.
I agree, DR ChasSmith.
Yup.
-
I was shocked at how busy the gym was today, then remembered it is a holiday.
-
Yes. Because the holidays were Sundays, the official day is the following Monday.
But when did this tradition begin?
-
Something for Everyone is so much worse than I remember.
The book it's based on is almost as bad.
-
My pencil sharpener has died. I am not happy.
-
;)
-
I futzed and finessed quite a bit, adding a few things, removing a few things and probably adding a page of stuff overall, then I wrote four new pages and now I'm taking a break and not going to the bank . I'll eat some tuna pasta salad, then go back and try to write at least six more pages.
-
With all the dogs we had and the kids leaving stuff out, only a cat ever ate homework ;D
-
Shredded more than ate.
-
She learned to shred paper after watching the gerbils ;D
-
The Rose Parade win was for the Princess Award (floats 35 feet and under).
-
My photo of it is too large. Maybe this will work.
You might have to be on Facebook to see that.
-
Good afternoon.
-
That's beautiful, Jane.
-
I went to the church to set up the tables for tomorrow's gathering. I'm using covid as an excuse for taking it easy.
-
I think I'm really just lazy.
-
Ate some tuna pasta salad and shall return to writing in a few minutes.
-
BK's talk about tuna pasta salad inspired me to make some.
-
FIVE!
-
That's a beautiful float, DR Jane.
-
When I think of all the work and volunteer hours that go into all of those floats...
-
If I had some tuna pasta salad, I would definitely eat some tuna pasta salad.
-
Like, a lot of it.
-
So perhaps it is good that I don't.
-
Have it, I mean.
-
I am enjoying not having to work today.
-
I would rather have 2 weird long weekends than just two days, one each, in the middle of the week - like when Christmas and New Year's fall on a Wednesday, and you have to work the days on either side of them.
-
That's beautiful, Jane.
I can see why they won.
-
I went to the church to set up the tables for tomorrow's gathering. I'm using covid as an excuse for taking it easy.
No only an excuse but the truth.
-
I think I'm really just lazy.
You should be taking it easy.
-
That's a beautiful float, DR Jane.
:)
-
When I think of all the work and volunteer hours that go into all of those floats...
I know. Keith's cousin is a contractor. We figure he, at least, helped build it. We don't know if he also helped decorate.
-
Accomplished a few small tasks around the house today, but mostly just relaxed.
-
The bad weather is moving in.
-
Fortunately we're stocked up on food.
-
Just not tuna pasta salad.
-
:)
-
The bad weather is moving in.
Sending good vibes.
-
Eight pages so far, and must take another break. I'll definitely write two more, but if I'm inspired I might try for five or six more.
-
Yes I have been thinking about tuna pasta salad since MR BK posted about it last week....maybe I shall make it tomorrow.
-
DR JANE that is a lovely float.....
-
Tuna pasta salad is very easy:
Make 16oz. of large elbow macaroni. Drain and let dry then douse with very cold water to get the pasta nice and cold, then dump that in your serving bowl. Open a can of tuna, preferably Bumble Bee the extra special good kind they sell. Flake the tuna with a fork as you put it into the pasta in your serving bowl.
Chop up app. half a smaller red onion and but the chopped bits into the pasta and tuna and then add salt and pepper, not too much at this point. Then add three tablespoons of Best Foods or Hellman's mayonnaise. Mix that all together until it's all mixed together, cover, and put in the refrigerator for a few hours. or over night, or whatever.
When you're ready to serve and especially if it's been overnight, then add two more tablespoons of mayo and mix it all thoroughly (if it's not overnight, you're probably fine with one tablespoon of mayo), salt it liberally and then serve. It must be nice and cold so I always recommend overnight. Then those who are eating can add more salt should they desire it - I always do for each serving I eat. That's it.
-
DR LAURA you are the opposite of lazy.....I usually have to take a nap after reading about your daily activities.
-
Now.....
Every three months I am sent my ostomy supplies from a company in Florida.
Before the order is sent, I receive a letter and an email asking me to approve the quantities. If I don't need something, I can lessen the quantities. I can't get MORE of anything - Medicare sets the maximum of any product.
I usually just get what is offered. I have a LOT of some things, but you never know when a shortage might crop up.
I always zero out things I have to overflowing or certainly things I do not use.
-
So last week I got the email and the letter. I went to the web portal and zero'ed out a couple of things and approved the order for shipping on January .
-
Then on Friday I got a call from the company telling me that a hold has been placed on my account because my surgeon sent back the paperwork. He needs to see me before it will be approved.
This happened once before and it turns out THE COMPANY was behind the whole thing.
I got really angry last time and went off on the guy in true MR BK style......eventually I had a computer consultation with my surgeon and everything was working until last week.
-
I think it was the same guy who called me. He was very cautious and stuttered a lot and hummed and hawed ....
After he detailed the details....I just said.....so I
need to make an appointment to see Dr. Tsai.....right?
And he said...."Uh.....yes....."
I said: "Okay."
-
So I called Dr. Tsai's office and his nurse was off on Friday.....so Meghan in the office transferred me to Cindy in the Indy office.
Cindy was unavailable so I left a message. After I hung up, I realized I had left Cindy my land line....which doesn't even exist anymore.
So I called Meghan back and she transferred me to Cindy again....so I left a message with my cell phone number.
Cindy called back with a few minutes. And now I have an appointment to see Dr. Tsai on Thursday at 1 p.m.
-
The End.
-
Until Thursday.
Oh...here is a video of Dr. Tsai - he is a very nice man.
(https://youtu.be/llHwcAwCiTw)
-
Oh I guess that doesn't work. oh well.
-
Page Six.
-
DR JANE that is a lovely float.....
Thank you.
DR Jrand it sounds frustrating. At least the office took care of you quickly. Vibes you receive your supplies in time.
-
Jrand, is that a computer consultation again or in the office?
-
I am up from a nap.
-
I shall name my next novel that. It’s for the woke crowd.
Hello, everyone.
-
We had some sun this morning, but more rain is expected. DR Ginny must have seen a morning view of LA. I don't know what time the Rose Parade begins or ends, but that sunshine didn't last! Of course, to many in the Midwest no snow on the ground must have looked lovely all by itself.
-
I did some laundry this morning, checked my checking account, and paid the rent. I'd COMPLETELY forgotten about it! Now I don't feel like doing much of anything. DR Laura isn't lazy, but I am today.
-
After I got laid off about 12 years ago, I started up a food web site that had a good, seven-year run. In the early years, I tried dishes that were new to me. One was Welsh rarebit. Good stuff. They do indeed.
But — a couple of hours?? The WeTransfer file? Mine took five minutes or thereabouts.
-
I get envious every time BK starts a new book. I have several writing projects I'd like to be spending more time on, but I get bogged down with all the usual CR*P that we all have.
-
I need a nap.
-
Thanks for sharing the instructions for tuna pasta salad, BK.
-
I think there is some in my immediate future.
-
~~~STITCH REMOVAL VIBES~~~ for DR John G. tomorrow!!!!!!!!
-
I sympathize with DR Jrand72's plight.
-
I have to schedule an appointment with my sleep doctor every year without fail, or insurance will not cover my CPAP or any of the ongoing supplies.
-
TTFN.
-
Fortunately, an online consult will suffice.
-
Today, we have the day off. I MUST do some more laundry!
Well, it turns out that we did NOT have the day off!! :o
-
I got a text from my supervisor about 15 minutes before I was supposed to be at work that she was taking the day off! Wait...aren't we supposed to have today off as New Year's Day observed??
-
Nope! State workers (like my sister) get it off, but we're not state workers!
-
I (MOST fortunately) was at least awake, so I rushed myself into the shower, quickly got dressed, then (safely) rushed myself to work just in time to realize that I forgot my key card! ::)
-
Fortunately (again), I could just walk around to the back of the building and be let in there, so I was able to make it in time! WHEW!!
-
;D
-
And, look...it's Page Seven!
-
I'm now done with my afternoon break, so it's back to work!
-
Oh my gosh, DR George.
-
That would have gotten my adrenaline pumping.
-
I also think it's kind of unfair that you lose the holiday.
-
But they didn't consult me.
-
The nerve.
-
Or noive, as Bert Lahr would say.
-
And did say.
-
Now, if only I had a dollar for every time I have said "If I only had a dollar"...
-

Not for a few years.

That would be so cool...but there's no way she could get to North Carolina. :-\
-
I enjoyed that production. I do wish they said who the singers were. Elmore, the list you sent only covered the first half.
-
I’m starting a French film from France. Something called Carrottop from the 1930s.
-
I also think it's kind of unfair that you lose the holiday.
We don't lose it...at least, not the time. If a holiday lands on a day that someone doesn't normally work, we have the option to add the time to our vacation amount, or get paid for those hours. Since I have too much vacation time already, I'm going to get paid for it.
-
I (MOST fortunately) was at least awake, so I rushed myself into the shower, quickly got dressed, then (safely) rushed myself to work just in time to realize that I forgot my key card! ::)

It was short, but thorough enough. ;D
I couldn't stop laughing reading your story :))
Thanks, Jane!

DR George how did you not know you had work today? Don't they usually notify you of your days off?
I remember seeing the "observed" holiday in my Outlook calendar and assumed that that meant that WE had the day off. I was wrong.

That was a hard movie to watch. A child thinks his parents hate him because they hate each other. And his mother actually does seem to hate him. So, he tries to kill himself. His father stops him and they form a bond.
-
The actor who played the young boy, Robert Lynen, was excellent. The film was made in 1932. By the time the Nazis conquered France, he had joined the French Resistance. He was captured and executed in 1944.

No refunds DR RON PULLIAM.
You dreamed it.
I want a major discount!!!

Today's memorial service was extremely moving.
The church was full...more than 500 people!!!
I am glad it is all behind us now.
-
There was an insane amount of traffice on the roads today. I assume it was folks on holiday going out to se what they could see.
Traffic has never been like this on a regular workday in my experience.
-
Johnston is a small town. We get our share of trucks going through, but today, streams of cars would be encountered when only one or two would normally be going by.
Just crazy for a small town. It felt like I was back in Oakland during rush hour.
-
Finished watching a documentary about Max Steiner.
-
John G. I found the cast and line-up by doing several online searches.
I think it was from an article titled Sondheim Old Friends BBC Broadcast, which linked to What’s On Stage.
Not sure how to post that here.

Thank you. I knew most, but there was one or two.

I have finished my viewing for the evening. I am going to try to finish a book that’s been driving me crazy. It’s only 114 pages. And I can’t focus ling enough to finish it.
-
The fireworks are going off again.

Ugg...they call it "Not Getting Married Today." ::)
-
Wrote more pages - fifteen in all today, plus all the futzing and finessing.
-
Maybe I'll watch something now.
-
Ugg...they call it "Not Getting Married Today." ::)
And there were a couple of other not-exact titles...but otherwise, it was a great article. :)
-
George, that’s the one.
Thanks!

Thank you. It was Sian Phillips I didn’t recognize. And I didn’t know Gary Wilmott.
They misspelled Petula Clark’s name.

Good night, all.
-
Calling TCB. Calling George.
-
I hope that Tom is doing well.
-
It's a bit chilly up here in my bedroom.
-
You'd think that I'd turn on my heater, but I haven't.
-
No TCB.
-
I don't know why...other than I plan to go to sleep soonly after the day changes, so it won't be necessary.
-
We should have hit page ten ages ago, but noooo.
-
Here we sit on page nine.
-
I'll be all snuggled in my bed under my blankets.
-
Here we sit on page ten.
-
Now is not a time for bed.
-
Nor blankets.
-
Now is the time for all good genders to post.
-
To post or not to post, that is the question.
-
You know, I see TCB's name up top (he taught me to look there) and yet I don't recall seeing any late-night postings.
-
Now is the time for all good genders to post.
Well, here's a post:
-
Nope, not a single late-night post from TCB who, according to up there, is here.
-

Some people take longer to type. ::)
-
That is a fine post.
-
Calling TCB. Calling George.
Yes! I am here

He probably wants to ketchup on all the posts before replying and posting.

Hi, Tom!
-
I type quickly when I'm in writing mode. I type like the wind and I think we all know how fast the wind types.
-
There's TCB.
-
There he is.
-
I reek of tuna pasta salad.
-
I finished it all.
-
It's gone.
-
There is no more.
-
You know, I see TCB's name up top (he taught me to look there) and yet I don't recall seeing any late-night postings.
I just caught up.
-
And it will be awhile before I make it again.
-
You caught up? What was up doing?
-
I may have to have a fruity snack to cleanse the palate.
-
Because the palate reeks.
-
I was detained in the lavatory!
-
A reeking palate is unseemly.
-
Detained in the Lavatory is the title of my next novel.
-
I reek of tuna pasta salad.
-
Page eleven has made its tardy entrance.
-
Gratuitous Post #302!!
-
I'd have another Entenmann's chocolate donut but I've had two already.
-
A reeking palate is unseemly.
A reeking palate from half an onion?
-
Yes, half a red onion. It was a big red onion.
-
Really big.
-
Oversized.
-
I reek.
-
I am going to the pain doctor tomorrow. Pray for Rosemary’s baby!
-
I just do.
-
I do like onions. :)
-
We send the big most excellent vibes and xylophones for TCB.
-
And onions like you.
-
Well, guess I'll lock up this here topic and we can continue in the new topic.
