Well, you've read the notes, the notes said whence upon a time, a play on words, and now it is time for you to post until the play on words cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: COMPOSURE!
-
To quote our very own Tom: first post after BK! ;D
-
Because I had a couple of good ideas in the shower, I got to fifteen pages and then wrote two more. And now, to bed, to bed, sleepyhead.
-
I love plays on words.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I'm very happy to hear that you've got your car back, DR George.
-
And... ....it's about time. 8)

The DH was gifted Yotam Ottolenghi's latest cookbook, Simple. The recipes do not look very simple to me.
-
And, you wonder, why would anyone want to name a cookbook after a song from Anyone Can Whistle, anyway?
-
At least, I wonder.
-
These are the things I ponder.
-
But while I am pondering, I hope I am not pandering.
-
Do pandas pander?
-
Is the Pope Catholic?
-
And what about Naomi?
-
I've gotten on some tangents.
-
Are tangents in season?
-
And the word of the day is: COMPOSURE!
Can you eat a tangent and still maintain your COMPOSURE?
-
My living room has a southern COMPOSURE.
-
Sondheim is one of my favorite COMPSURES.
-
What is this stuff and nonsense?
-
What is this nonsense and stuff?
-
Not necessarily in that order.
-
ORDER backward is REDRO.
-
You heard it here first.
-
Firstly, as it were.
-
And thusly.
-
Thistly, if you combine them.
-
Which I don't.
-
Whew! Two!
-
I'll stop now.
-
Except for this word of wisdom:
-
Any cake can be a pound cake.
-
With enough force.

Good morning, all!

The alarm rang at 5:40, I called Access-a-Ride and canceled my trip, set the alarm for 7:00, and went back to bed. I'd like a day in whichy= I can just chill and do little as possible.

Well, as long as it's country liver mush...

Good morning, all.

I'm very happy to hear that you've got your car back, DR George.
Thanks, Singdaw.

And... ....it's about time. 8)
Why, yes, it is! ;D
-
Are tangents in season?
If they are, would you like some tangents with alacrity?

Why, yes. Yes, I would. :)

We have hoarfrost here again this morning.
-
I wonder what Dorothy Parker would say about that.
-
Something witty, no doubt.
-
No bout adoubt it.

Has anyone read any Kenneth Follett? I am thinking of tacking either his Century trilogy or his Knightsbridge trilogy.
-
Or maybe the James Michener book on Hawaii.

Has anyone read any Kenneth Follet? I am thinking of tacking either his Century trilogy or his Knightsbridge trilogy.
Tacking it to what? And no. Haven’t read it. Read some Michener, but not Hawaii. Maybe I should.
-
Good morning, all.
-
After 15 votes we now have a Speaker of the House - all that time and this is what end up with.
During the last vote there sat Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor-Greene, and Lauren Boebert all in a row laughing and carrying on. Will we never get rid of these roaches?
Will we ever have call in shows where people are NOT talking about "proven" voter fraud and the persecution of a former president?
I guess not in what's left of my lifetime.
-
DR CHAS SMITH how did the toothpaste work on your headlights?
-
Two (count 'em) insane dreams this morning. There's some question as to whether they were completely separate, or if one segued into the other, or even whether I might have stepped smoothly from one into the other and back again in a desperate attempt to resolve the first one. Whatever happened, let's just be glad I'm out of them.

Off to look at assisted living facilities in case they’re better for Mom here than in Virginia.

DR Jrand72, I'm afraid I still haven't brushed their teeth.

I’m at a place called Mr. A OK’s Southern Kitchen. I have ordered something called a Grilled Cheese Meatloaf Mac Sandwich. Yes, all of these joys on one sandwich.

There was another sandwich with mashed potatoes, a pork chop and chicken-fried steak plus other treats.

I felt that would put me in a coma.

Off to look at assisted living facilities in case they’re better for Mom here than in Virginia.

I am making some chicken & noodles today.

Glad to hear that DR GEORGE has his automobile back!

I found a book at the Goodwill on Thursday called Patsy & Me Kickin' Up Dust by Loretta Lynn.
It reads as if an illiterate hillbilly read some stories into a tape recorder and somebody typed it out.....it is not without interest....but it's a bit of a slog.
AND it certainly needed at editor.....Loretta is allowed to proclaim that in the mid 1940's her daddy bought the family a Philco transistor radio and that's how they listened to the Grand Ole Opry.....the information is repeated at least three times.....
-
She talks about spending a lot of time at Patsy's dream house.....and i remember last year or so, a couple of guys had bought the house and it was for sale....it's a nice mid-century house. It was featured on a television show on cable....don't remember which one.
I looked it up online and the description said that the house had been renovated to exactly how it was when it was built in 1965.
Which is quite a stunt considering that Patsy Cline died in March of 1963.
-
Watching some basketball.....

Starting Kind Hearts and Coronets. The name in the movie is D’Aescoyne, not D’Aesquith, like the musical version, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.

George, thank you for the disc.

I'm betting DR vixmom would appreciate a replacement disc, too.

Perhaps that's the name in the novel, which the musical is based on.

Ann and Jen set up my TV for Netflix. Ann took Annabelle's photo.

Work session was good, told Muse Margaret she'd have the pages shortly, and then I spent two hours getting the style changes implemented, futzing and finessing yesterday's stuff, writing new pages whilst finessing, and then sending her 110 pages. Now I wait to hear.

Fifteen tries for that moron to be "elected" as speaker. How is that even allowable - he loses fourteen times and then he gets to win because he makes so many concessions. And then his whole BS is they'll hold Biden "swamp" accountable for COVID? And then he thanks Trump and says he's still influential? THIS is what we're having? They should get rid of him ASAP and I suspect that will happen in two years. The Republican party could not sink any lower.

Hunter Biden's laptop......

I continue to read stories of people missing their luggage after their Southwest flights were cancelled. Again, there is mention of medications and/or jewelry that had been packed in those bags.
-
Why would anyone do that ::)
-
First time to the mail place in four days - NOTHING, not even junk mail.
-
Had Popeye's for food - pretty good.

I don't think it'll take two years:
McCarthy concessions to win Speakership raise eyebrows (https://thehill.com/homenews/house/3803315-mccarthy-concessions-to-win-speakership-raise-eyebrows/)
-
One change in particular — which empowers a single lawmaker to launch the process of ousting the Speaker — is giving heartburn to lawmakers in both parties, who fear a hard-line group of conservatives will use it repeatedly to browbeat McCarthy into keeping crucial must-pass bills off the floor.
-
We are going to watch Glass Onion.

'night
-
Good night, DR Jane.

Six!
-
Sweet Annabelle!
-
Tonight, Séance on a Wet Afternoon was on the docket.
-
Wonder what Stephen Schwartz's opera version sounds like?
-
Well, it seems like there are a few excerpts here and there on YouTube.
-
That is a rabbit hole for another day.
-
We'll catch up some other time.
-
As in later, babe.
-
Now is not the time.
-
If you get my drift.
-
Wishing you all sweet dreams.
-
Good night, friends.
-
I had a bootleg recording of Seance. It needed work.
The opera, not the recording.
-
Back from dancing.
-
Starting Rider on the Rain, a Rene Clement film with Charles Bronson that I saw just a few years ago and can’t remember. There’s a horrible rape scene near the beginning, which may be why I have forgotten it.
-
I don’t remember the ending of the movie, so I may not have watched it. The violence may it hard to watch.
-
Charles Bronson’s French wasn’t horrible.
-
Good night, all.
-
Well, once again the jernt is deserted.
-
Once again we're stuck in the muck on page six and have been all night.
-
Let us not lose the fun, let us not succumb to lethargy, lettuce keep the energy flowing and the good times rolling.
-
Muse Margaret didn't call until almost eight. More about that in the notes.
-
I watched two-thirds of a movie, then went back to writing and I've done about twelve pages so far and will try to do three more before bed. To that end, I'm eating some strawberry cheesecake and I don't care who knows it.
-
Does who really know it, and more importantly, does it have a clew who who is?
-
I think I'll have some water.
-
Why shouldn't I?
-
Who's gonna stop me.
-
I also had a dinner salad an hour ago just because I had only two chicken breasts and they weren't that big.
-
Well, if I have to do it all by myself...
-
Page seven - ENTER!
-
Now, hopefully TCB and George will show up.
-
Sorry, I am late.
-
Last night and tonight, i rewatched the film version of LE MIZ.
-
It is better to stream it because then you can cut through all the stupid chaser scenes and move on to the rest of the movie.
-
I still don’t really like Hugh Jackman in the film.
-
It is pretty bad when I think the best person in the film is Eddie Redmayne.
-
And the girl that plays Eponine.
-
I can’t even imagine how much it cost to build sets they used in that film!
-
That stupid giant elephant must’ve cost at least $50.
-
And Russell’s voice has started to grow on me.
-
I mean if you have to choose between Russell and Pierce Brosnan’s voice, Russell sounds pretty damn good.

Well, in the quiet of the night, I may as well announce that I have canceled my surgery for Friday. I am not rescheduling it. A lot of reasons, none that I feel like discussing.

Now I’m listening to MACK AND MABEL.

Well, the boys showed up and all is well with the world.
-
BK, now that Jerry has left us, perhaps you could have a go at the libretto?
-
I saw Mack and Mabel when it played here pre-B'way and sat in the first row. It didn't work but the songs were great and so were Preston and Peters.
-
I'd love to, but everyone they've gone to has failed - and they'd never let me do it. I could, I think.
-
I'd certainly give it a go. It's all in the approach.
-
Page eight has entered the room.
-
And that's a good thing, because every single day for the past week our posting numbers have decreased.
-
I'd love to, but everyone they've gone to has failed - and they'd never let me do it. I could, I think.
If everyone else has failed, what's the problem of one more attempt?? ;)

I think that won't happen today since we're so close to yesterday's total.

I've seen them.

Just like the Room.

I could not have been happier with the call from Muse Margaret - I was petrified that she hated it and that I'd have to throw it in the trash.

The entire story is in the new notes.

They're up.

I've read them.
