Well, you've read the notes, the notes had interruptions and distractions, and now it is time for you to post until the interrupted and distracted cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EMPHATIC!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Last night, I was going to post about a CD that I just got, and was doing some research, but then the day locked and I lost my post. ::) Anyway, a few months ago on the Cast Album Collectors forum on FB, someone posted about a recording called Maxie's, feturing (in alphabetical order) Jason Alexander (as Maxie), Heather Headley, Jennifer Holliday, Shirley Jones, Jeremy Jordan, Billy Porter, John Schneider, Ruben Studdard. What a cast!
-
AND the main reason for wanting to post, I was able to get a new copy from an Amazon seller and it arrived on Monday. But I didn't, of course, realize that the chorus was recorded in Seattle, and the chorus music director was Olympia's own Ian Eisendrath, who was the resident music director of Seattle's 5th Avenue, and was also the Broadway music director for a little show known as Come From Away! I've known him since he was in eighth grade! And I also know and have done shows with two of the people in chorus, Jenny Shotwell and Matthew Posner! ;D
-
With a cast like that, I was VERY surprised that it hadn't yet been added to the CastAlbums (https://castalbums.org/) database, so I did (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Maxies-A-New-Musical-2016-Studio-Cast/47466). :)
-
I watched the parts of the Golden Globe Awards that were of interest to me.
Surprisingly, I found myself more emotionally affected than expected at times.
-
I am always moved by President Zelenskyy’s speeches.
Last night was no different.
-
As a former actor, and a very good one, I imagine he feels comfortable speaking to other people in that field.
I still find it AMAZING that he played the role of the President of Ukraine in his comedy TV series, which is quite amusing.
-
George, Maxie’s the Musical has an incredible cast!
Do you know if it’s ever been performed live?
-
I tried to do some research about it online, but there is also a musical by the name of Maxie, and it kept messing me up.
-
Got an email announcement about the new production of The Secret Garden in L.A.
-
BK’s discovery, Sadie Reynolds, is adorable.
I think Sierra Boggess will be a splendid Lily.
I also really like Aaron Lazar as Neville.
Not as familiar with the rest of the cast.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well, and there were quite a few dreams, none of which I remember now.
-
I cannot eat or drink this morning because of the lab work I missed last week prior to today's exam. They will do the lab work today.
-
And I need coffee!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Bad night of sleep. I think I wound the bands on the splinta too tight.
-
It’s certainly odd going from ice pack to splint to heating pad. But if it helps, okay.

Tom, Cache means Hidden. The movie’s about our darkest secrets not being so hidden anymore.

After several days of not being able to reach anyone I learned yesterday that WFO was sent from the rehab place to the ER at the local hospital where it was discovered he had pneumonia
-
So he’s been admitted to the hospital
-
He was also testing positive for Covid so no visitation

Chocolate and vanilla twist with chopped almonds in a cup for me
-
After eating I promptly went to bed
-
Sorry to hear about WFO.
-
And slept from 9 until about 5 am
-
Glad to hear that your back is somewhat better, DR vixmom.
-
Had a drink of oj and a trip to the necessary

Then back to bed where I slept like a babe until 7:18

Now I’m enjoying a coffee while sitting in the recliner with a heating pad

But I must waddle workwards

Bus service in the Twin Cities Metro has been suspended this morning due to ice conditions.

Good conditions up here for your hand, DR John G.
Which apparently requires icing.

And not the sugar kind.
-
Will be curious to hear your reaction to Maxie's, DR George.

I didn't see any copies for less than ~$40.

I don't know if it has. I tried doing a little searching, but couldn't find anything, either. It might just be the recording that exists.

I guess I will go check out to see who won a Golden Glob last night.
-
I had to go to the bank this morning and retrieve some cash for the rest of the month.
-
DR IRIS since you are a Broadway insider perhaps you can ask this question I have wondered about for many years.
When Patty Duke played Aint Eller in OKLAHOMA! on Broadway, did her cousin Cathy take over for the Wednesday and Saturday matinees?
-
Good morning, all.
-
We were on four before.
I checked in briefly earlier this morning before logging in, because I had to go do some things first, and something weird happened with a page turn while I was reading on my phone. (This was an hour or two ago.) While reading, there was a page turn and it seemed like a post was missing, or that whoever was posting then had left out something. A few moments later things seemed to "shift" again, and I went back to the first page and quickly scrolled straight through. This time I found several posts I'd totally missed seeing earlier, and things then made sense. And now you're saying you observed something weird, too, so it wasn't just me.
-
And now you're saying you observed something weird
I was just looking in the mirror.
-
Sorry to hear about WFO.
Ditto. Hope he recovers quickly.

Good morning - evidently there was an award show last night? <yawn>
I'm at school this morning (normally a day off) for the second round of auditions for Dear Edwina Jr. I LOVE this show. Looking forward to finally get to direct it. After that, I HOPE to be heading over to Concord to pick up my new (to me) car. 2005 Honda Element. I'm a little more than excited, but the car dealership doesn't seem to be filling out the paperwork for the credit union to the credit union's standards.... so I'm waiting.
I'm working on posting pics of the puppy.

Yes it is.

Continued GET WELL vibes for DR WFO.
I'm confused, though -- not that that's anything new -- but I thought I remembered him dealing with something, like covid or pneumonia or the flu, back when he first went in after his fall. It seems like that poor DR isn't getting a break.
-
I want to go home and listen to Dear Edwina.

Geico has won its appeal against the woman who sued them because they didn’t offer her damages for contacting HPV while having sex in a Geico-covered car.

Yes, the Yellow Blobs extravaganza aired last night. I recorded it and added a 30-minute extension in case it went over. But...that half hour extra was not enough.
No matter: Every time I tuned in, I was treated to an exercise in total tastelessness coupled with verbal diarrhea.
I am satisfied to find a list of winners online this morning. I may have damaged the TV had I been forced to watch the debacle.

Geico has won its appeal against the woman who sued them because they didn’t offer her damages for contacting HPV while having sex in a Geico-covered car.

Yes. She won $5.2 million. She will likely appeal.

I've been on the phone dealing with Access-a-Ride trips for tomorrow and Friday. I ask for a pickup time of 9:15 and they offer 10:00 or 8:30, so you have to keep trying different times until you get close to the time you actually want. Luckily, the young lady on the phone was wonderful.

My question for ASK BK DAY:
Did you ever forget to return the Record Club card and get an LP you didn't order - but you ended up loving it?
-
I don't know, DR Jane. It was on FB. It doesn't seem like a very practical design. I'm not sure it's even real.
-
It does not seem possible.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep. Went to bed too late but was so frustrated trying to get the commentary organized. We've done many of the songs before so I usually cut and paste that commentary in but Spotlight on the Mac has become completely useless - I search the song title - nothing. The writers - nothing. The show - nothing. So, I then have to figure out what Kritzerland show we might have done it in and I find that commentary and there it is - song, writers, show. We've done Bye Bye Birdie songs in tons of shows and I could not find it until it came up in a Group Rep cabaret. And how do we think it got THERE? Cut and paste, but I could not find it anywhere.
-
Guess I'll futz and finesse in a few minutes, as soon as eyes and mind focus.

This morning at the FAA...
-
I gave the cats their nightly treat, tried to rise from the floor, lost my grip, and fell to the floor, luckily missing the cat tree and the bed frame. And there i lay, flat on my back, locked inside an apartment and unable to rise. The legs are useless. I panicked and began to yell for help, then wept in frustration. i did push myself out into the small space between bed and computer table, still calling for help.
-
There was knocking at the door and I called that Judy in apt. 3D had a set of my keys. It was Pixie, the neighbor below me who helped me get off the floor and calmed me down. Stella is now looking after me.
-
Oh DR ELMORE! The angels are watching over you.
-
What a horrible feeling, DR elmore3003. Glad you were able to get help.

I hear nurse Stella is pretty adroit.

But your nectarines think you're kind of a jerk.

There is no water in the building right now. It's been off since noon. Water main break in the neighborhood. Last update was that they're hoping to get water restored by 10pm.

Good news, for the workers at least, is that it's currently in the 30s and not sub-zero.

While still cold that is far better than sub-zero.
-
Not a single interruption or distraction so hoo and ray for that. Futzing and finessing took quite a while but I was happy with everything once that was done. Then I just mushed on immediately with new pages. After two hours of that, I made some pasta and ate it and it was good. Then I went right back to writing. Again, because of what the book is, it takes quite a bit to get through one page and especially as I have to stop and research things sometimes. But, happy to save I'm eight pages so far and I need a break right now, but should be able to do seven more during the evening.

I'll answer the Ask BK questions after I sit on the couch like so much fish for a while.

Carole Cook.....I remember her first from her episodes of The Lucy Show.....and then of course the Cast LP of 42nd Street.
She was always so much fun when she was on the various television shows - panel, variety, and sitcom.
-
I like the story she told of being in summer stock - Lucy had seen her do a show and wanted to talk to her about coming out for her show....the intercom buzzed and the voice said: "Carole Cook telephone....Lucille Ball calling for Carole Cook."
She said she thought it was a joke and it took a few minutes for Lucy to convince her it was a legit call.....
-
Wow it's very foggy here already....DENSE FOG WARNING until 9 a.m.

Starting to watch John Huston’s Wise Blood. Or Jhon Huston, as he appears in the credits.
-
I saw this movie when it was first released. I was the only person in the theater. I didn’t know what I was getting into. I didn’t know Flannery O’Connor. I barely knew John Huston. But the movie had earned a four-star review in the paper.
-
It blew my mind away. Made me a lifelong fan of Flannery O’Connor and the star, Brad Dourif.
-
In the extras, Dourif says Huston originally wanted Tommy Lee Jones for the lead role. When Jones couldn’t do the part, Dourif pounced.
-
Sorry to hear about Carole - what a life. I always had really fun interactions with her and found her delightful.

Yes. She won $5.2 million. She will likely appeal.
That is ludicrous!

If her appeal succeeds, however I may have to consider obtaining a social disease in an unconventional, but fully insured location in order to fund my retirement

Is that near your place DR CHAS SMITH?

He was a math professor at a University and was my (then) boyfriend’s advisor for his senior thesis. They became friendly during the process and we began to socialize after John’s graduation.
Eventually we both dumped John but we kept each other.

I’m tired. I’ll finish this movie tomorrow.
-
One of the extras I’m looking forward to is Flannery reading her great short story, A Good Man Is Hard to Find.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good night John! Hoping to hear encouraging news about your Mom and your hand tomorrow
-
Elmore, I am so sorry you had that scare today. I am so glad you are somewhere where people can hear you and come to your aid, and, more importantly, surrounded by the right sort of folks who DO come to your aid.

What awful news about poor WFO! It's better than I thought, since I was afraid DR vxmom was going to tell us he had died.
DR vixmom, who's checking on his house and postal deliveries? Please send him my warmest regards. He's such a good man.
He is a wonderful man. I have been lucky enough to have him in my life for 45 years.
I am in charge of house checking and mail collecting duties..

Finished fifteen pages about an hour ago, which is how it goes when I have zero interruptions and distractions.

Pasta was good.

Watched one episode of a documentary about Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward - made by Ethan Hawke and so naturally it's very odd. Nice footage, though. I'll watch the other episodes after the Kritzerland show is done. I'll now try to get the commentary at least assembled, then we'll see how much I actually have to write.

I didn't see any copies for less than ~$40.
George will be selling copies for $39.99.
-
Health vibes for WFO!
-
John, great news about your mom. I hope it works out!

Nope. I keep the recordings that I buy.

Maybe they're just there for the floor show.
I thought they were there for the floor shell?

I would much rather have had pizza for supper than what I ended up having.
Tonight, my friend Shelly asked if I wanted to go to the local Plaza Jalisco for dinner, and I did, so we did.
Where is the link to the place?

I looked for one, but they don't have their own website. The links were for their Facebook page, or Yelp, or some other review sites. Here's a link to their Facebook page:

Larry, thank goodness for your neighbors. I am glad you are okay.

Let me answer some of the questions.

Midnight! The start of day three with no pain pills!

TOD: The news is filled with bad tidings regarding weather in California, including LA. I am wondering how this weather impacts YOU, Bruce. I have seen flooded streets in and around LA on the news.
It hasn't been terrible around here in terms of road problems.

Great news, Tom!

My question for ASK BK DAY:
Did you ever forget to return the Record Club card and get an LP you didn't order - but you ended up loving it?
All the time. :) That's how I got the cast album of Mr. President, which, at the time, I loved.

BINGO!
Oh, no!

I know that Dear Reader Iris asked questions about writing, but they must be in last night's posts? I'll check.
-
New notes are up.
-
I've read them.
-
I've seen them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Did she remove those questions? I can't find them.
-
If I remember, her questions had to do with my writing process - normally, I don't have any interruptions or distractions so it's not an issue. I tend to write when I get up and like peace and quiet for it. I attend to things when I take breaks, but then I have to just have silence again. It's when endless annoying calls come in and when people need things from me when I'm trying not to break my concentration - yesterday was the WORST in that regard.
-
Anyone here see Iris's questions?

Maybe those are the posts that disappeared today and changed the page count.
