Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in the seventh house with the moon, and now it is time for you to post until the seventh house cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HEARTFELT!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
I was curious as to how she came to be known as “She of the Evil Eye”.
What did she do to earn that moniker?
-
BK, on the video, Robert's monologue is almost ten whole minutes! For the Sunday audition, they only want one to two minutes. :-\
-
I thought about maybe putting together some of my A Murder is Announced lines and maybe coming up with something that's long enough.
-
It is ASK BK Day, after all.
But I will not persist in my questioning.
I respect privacy! 😊
-
And what would be a good non-Sondheim song to audition for Sunday??
-
“My Opinion”, from the play Mr. Paul Pry is often suggested as a monologue for an audition for
SITPWG.

Thanks, iris! I'll see if I can find it...unless someone already has it. ;)
-
As far as an audition song, you should probably figure out which character is right for you.
-
Actually, it's available HERE (https://www.google.com/books/edition/Paul_Pry/7ERTAAAAcAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=0), and the PDF can be downloaded for free!
-
When Aaron Lazar auditioned for A Little Night Music, he sang “Where is the life that late I lead” from Kiss Me Kate, and was cast.
Are you a baritone?
-
Or maybe “A Man Could Go Quite Mad” from The Mystery of Edwin Drood?
Just thinking out loud.
-
Good song choices (I am very familiar with both, so that helps), and I have the Drood songbook somewhere. And I'm mostly a baritone...a.k.a. lazy tenor. ;D
-
I’ll check in with my New York musical theater friends tomorrow, and get more suggestions.
-
Good night, HHW.
-
I’ll check in with my New York musical theater friends tomorrow, and get more suggestions.
Thanks!
-
I named her she of the Evil Eye the first time she came. Don't remember why, except she didn't like me to be there when she was doing her cleaning.
-
Fifteen pages done.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Today is a doctor day. Access-a-Ride will cart me to my urologist, and I will get a other hormone injection and learn the results of my last PSA test.
After that, I will go to my pharmacy and pickup the monthly med I forget last week.
-
I slept rather well last night, and that makes me quite happy.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Happy hump day!
-
The hand is really not happy this morning.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It gets better as the day goes on.
-
Wordle 4, Phoodle 3.
-
Let’s move on …
-
Two!
-
I’m up, and not quite at ‘em, because I have to go meet a singer and run some songs we might do at some senior citizen venue or other next month.
-
Good morning, friends.

-
Enjoyed a couple of videos from the Kritzerland show.
-
DR George, if you used portions of A Murder is Announced for your audition, would you do it with or without the English accent?
Would that be weird for you, doing it without the accent?
-
Just curious.
-
I always thought there was a connection between 'She of the Evil Eye' and a character in a Jerry Lewis movie, but perhaps I was just imagining that?
-
The first paragraph of today's Notes was quite a zany corker.
-
As they say.
-
~~~MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES, XYLOPHONES, & GLOCKENSPIELS~~~ for BK!!!!!!!
Appointment and AAR vibes for DR Elmore.
Well, my body won't let me leave the apartment. I've just canceled AAR, and as soon as the urology office is open , I will reschedule my appointment.
Ditto!
CONGRATULATIONS on Tuck, Everlasting, DR George.
And ~~~STRONGEST AUDITION VIBES~~~ to you for next week!!!!!!
Will both shows be rehearsing at the same time?
Thanks, Singdaw! And yes, they're rehearsing (and performing) around the same time, so I can't be in both.
DR George, if you used portions of A Murder is Announced for your audition, would you do it with or without the English accent?
Would that be weird for you, doing it without the accent?
I was thinking without the accent, but I don't think that that would be too difficult.
Good morning!
What role are you playing in Tuck Everlasting? I wish I'd seen the musical. Neither film is very good, but the novel is amazing.
-
Audition vibes for George!
;)
Vixmom, glad the back is better. Are you capable of doing back flips yet?
You convinced me. Well, the book convinced me. And Lesley Manville convinced me.
The next book won’t be available for four weeks. I’m glad. I don’t want to binge them.
I'm confused, DR George. If the two shows are mutually exclusive, and you've already been cast in the one, why are you auditioning for the other one?
Because Sunday is a bucket-list show for me. I've loved this show since I first got the original cast recording, and I don't want to miss the opportunity to at least audition for it.
-
My friend Misi was the stage manager of the 10th anniversary, first national tour that used the original Broadway costumes, and when a bunch of us went to see it, she took us backstage and we got to see the costumes up close. :)
Very glad to hear Richard’s surgery went well
Ditto!
Thank you, DRs Vixmom and Elmore! He is much improved today and on the road to recovery. He’s about to have his first solid (although soft) food since Saturday morning. He’ll probably be here one more night, just to be on the safe side.
-
Recovery vibes for DH RICHARD.
Thank you, DR JRand! His knee has responded well to meds and exercise. When I first got here we took 2 laps around the hallways.
Just some arthritis, which we already knew. The flare-up was probably result of lying in bed for several days.
Thanks for the vibes!
-
Thanks, Jane!
-
DR George vibes you have a fantastic birthday this year as Constable Joe.
Thanks (again) except...if I get cast in Sunday, I'll have to drop out of Tuck Everlasting and give up the role of Constable Joe. The two shows overlap so I can't be in both.
-
The car is in my possession again. It’s going to need some work down the line - but that seems right to me. A huge relief that it wasn't the transmission. A “reminder” was sent to the dealer about the state law stating the 30 day warranty on sales of used cars. So we’ll see how it pans out.
Great news on Richard’s progress, Ginny.
Don’t think I haven’t thought about spreading her chocolate buttercream frosting on her new brownies.
Last night I watched the fantastic episode of The Crown in which the uglier details of the Nazi- butt-kissing Duke of Windsor - and his collusion with them while British citizens died in the blitz - were revealed to the world. This series is amazing, and I love Claire Foy as Elizabeth.
DR Elmore, I’m so glad you’re enjoying THE CROWN! Just finished watching all 5 seasons for the second time. I’m very interested in what you think of the changing casts every 2 seasons.
The Dolly Parton items have yet to grace the shelves of any of my shopping emporiums.
I guess I'll have to go over to Olesen's Mercantile and see if they carry them.
FINALLY! I finally found a Kindle Oasis case that fits my (gently used) 2016 8th Generation Kindle Oasis! I got the Kindle through www.woot.com (it's an Amazon company) and the listing and the box that it came in said that it included a charging case, but IT DIDN'T! :o They did give me an $18 refund, but I haven't been able to find a case that can fit this specific version.
-
Anyway, THIS (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097YJFH9P/) is what I got. It uses a hook-and-loop (a.k.a. Velcro-type) sticker pad to attach the Kindle to the case:
(https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71pfjn4QA-S._AC_SL1500_.jpg)
And yes, that's the actual artwork for the the cover that I chose. There are other options. :)
-
Here's an image from one with different artwork that shows the underside:
Well, looks like I'm out the cost of repairs. It's one of those things where it just might be better to let things go. The dealer just isn't budging, law or not. It's one of those things that I feel won't be worth my time, etc. I'm good to move on.
Sorry, DR Matthew.
It's a revolution!
The U.S. State Department is going sans serif: It has directed staff at home and overseas to phase out the Times New Roman font and adopt Calibri in official communications and memos, in a bid to help employees who are visually impaired or have other difficulties reading.
Today was Chiro Day for me. The acupuncture was helping me recover from the bump on my head and resulting whiplash, but I needed more help. The chiro kept saying, "That was quite a bump you received." Yes. He did a LOT of work on me and I expect some achiness will follow.
I stopped afterwards for some pasta primavera.
I find this strange. Although I appreciate the sentiment, serif fonts were designed to make reading easier. I find sans serif fonts more difficult.
CONGRATULATIONS to DR Jeanne on her lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!
I am really sorry for all the medical situations that are going on now among the DRs, and my fervent wish is that all who need it begin to feel healing.
I just unlinked my Goodreads account from my Amazon account, as all the books the DH is reading (and finishing) are showing up as books that I've read. And he reads some pretty trashy stuff. 8)
I have started The Mothers-in-Law. I thought Jerry Fogel was Robert Ulrich.
I am enjoying the bitchy banter between Eve Arden and Kaye Ballard.
Maybe we should all read a trashy book and drink something sporting a little paper umbrella.
I watched a little something on the Law of Attraction. I am skeptical.
-
You might even say... I am reticent.
-
The series was introduced by Desi Arnaz Jr., and the first episode included one of the commercials.
-
But being reticent on page eight is far better than being reticent on page four.
What’s the latest volume of The Randy Vicar.?
Good night, DR Jane.
-
Lucky #230
-
No headache vibes for DR JANE and DR JEANNE.
-
That is a nice case DR GEORGE.....I do not have a Kindle.
-
I forgot that WILL TRENT was on last night.....so I watched the episode on ABC ON DEMAND just now.
It was okay - but I cannot understand a word the actress playing his boss says....it's all mush.....
-
:)
-
Did somebody say DR JEANNE hit a millstone?
-
Oh, how I hated working on "fingerings" when I took piano lessons.
-
Continued back healing vibes for DR VIXMOM.
-
Did somebody say DR JEANNE hit a millstone?
Or it hit her.
-
Hmmm my computer wants to update.....perhaps I shall let it.
-
Sometimes you're just a Wonka in a roomful of Oompahs.
-
Nine.
-
Winter can be a real pain in the butt. But it can also be quite beautiful.
-
Frozen fractals all around.
-
Says Elsa.
-
And she should know.
-
She's Frozen.
-
Speaking of Frozen, we are expecting 7 inches of snow overnight.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Yikes, Singdaw. Seven inches of s**w? No.
-
One of the extras on this set is of The Carol Channing Show, a pilot from Desilu that was never picked up.
-
Julian Sands has been missing for five days following a hike in Southern California.
-
Great piece on Edna Ferber, a most effective novelist.
Desi Jr. is 70 now. My gawrsh.
Wow...who'da thunk it??
-
That is a nice case DR GEORGE.....I do not have a Kindle.
Thanks, Jrand.
-
The only reason I got my first Kindle was because my debit card accrues points, and at that time, the points expired (not anymore, fortunately), and it was getting close to when a majority of them were going to expire.
-
So I perused their online catalog and had enough for the Kindle (which has since bitten the dust and has been replaced...several times), and a wireless telephone handset for my cell phone, something like THIS (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075SY75C3/):
-
It's literally just the handset! It pairs with my phone and is really fun.
Hi George.
-
I spoke to my friends who run auditions for their New York theater group.
-
They felt strongly that “Where Is The Life That Late I Led?” would be an excellent choice.
-
“A Man Could Go Quite Mad” is also good, IF you know the song really well, as it tends to be tricky.
-
Loved the choice of monologue.
-
I hope it goes well!
Bet you would make a good Jules.
Or the Boatman.
Or whatever role suits you best.
-
I totally understand why “Sunday” is on your bucket list.
I’ve seen it many times, and still get chills at the end of Act One.
-
It’s late here, so I’m off to 😴
Good night, HHW.
-
Thanks so much for all the info, Iris! I actually have music for the Cole Porter song, so I'm set there.
-
It is, however...very "straight." ::)
-
I don't know if I can pull that off.
:)
-
Anything you do, let it come from you.
Then it will be new.
Give us more to see.
😊
-
I have faith in your ability to do a great job with that song.
-
Or, if you’re super confident that you can do a great job with “A Man Could Go Quite Mad”, give it a try.
Whatever song you choose, I’m sure your audition will go well.
-
Speaking of Frozen, we are expecting 7 inches of snow overnight.
Yikes!! :o Stay warm and safe!!
-
Julian Sands has been missing for five days following a hike in Southern California.
I just read that headline. :-\
Another concern would be how good is the audition pianist?? Do they know either piece, and could they play it well enough to not through me off??
Thanks, again!
-
No TCB.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
The title of today's notes is quite long.
-
Quite.
George has gone down a rabbit hole in the park with George.
