Well, you've read the notes, the notes tied a ribbon and wore a bikini, and now it is time for you to post until the itsy bitsy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HYPONYM!
-
George, that’s a valid concern. The pianist could mess up on “A Man Could Go Quite Mad”.
That was something we discussed, and one of the reasons they felt the other song would be a safer choice.
-
Topic of the Day: one of my favorites (and I had actually used it as a phone ringer for a while) is "I Love Fish," by our very own Guy Haines (one of BK's hidden tracks)! There are, of course, others, but I can't think of any right now.
-
Topic Of The Day:
They’re Coming To Take Me Away, Ha ha!
Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport
-
“Pink Fish” by Alan Menken.
Sung by Andy Taylor
-
Is “Pink Fish” considered a novelty song?
Whatever, I really like it!
-
Another novelty song:
“Monster Mash”
-
Good morning, friends.

I think DR elmore3003 meets the criteria:

Good morning, all!

I slept rather well until a little after 4:00, at which time Annabelle started pestering me to get under the blankets. Once settled there. she proceeded to take over the bed. I don't know how a 10 lb. cat, no more than 24 inches long, can claim a full-sized bed, but she has that knack.
-
We have an Amazon Fresh delivery this morning, but I plan to spend most of the day working on the ballet.
-
Everything is beautiful at the ballet.
-
Everyone at the ballet has a valet.
-
A valet at the chalet, DR singdaw?
-
Good morning, all.
-
I am up at dawn’s crack so that Kristi can drop her car off at the car place and I’ll drive her to work.
-
Tomorrow will be my turn at my car place.
-
Today is also, at last, my consultation with the ophthalmologist on the subject of cataracts.
-
Thursday morning greetings! Richard may be able to come home, but not until later in the day. That’s because the surgeon has a clinic commitment on Thursday mornings and won’t be in the hospital until afternoon. She warned us of that yesterday, so I’m having a slow morning (which I needed).
-
Good news, DR Ginny. Thankful.
-
Newly released...
-
Good morning, all.
-
Scott Miller can be a bit pedantic for my taste.
-
Bobby Goulet’s valet is at the ballet.
-
And other tales I can relay.
-
Without delay.
-
Two!
-
Greetings from Kristi’s car place.

Novelty songs almost always annoy me. I've heard that they also annoyed Rosemary Clooney when Skitch Henderson made her record them. But at least she got some money out of it.
-
I will make an exception for Cole Porter, though.

Yep! Sure can.

I like the pre-1950s nonsense songs:

Well, you'll never guess what happened.
Go on, take a guess!
-
All right, I'll tell you.
We were just about to leave the house this morning when my phone rang. It was the ophthalmologists's office saying she had a family emergency and they would have to reschedule.
First available date: March 17.
-
And honestly, except for the fact that I need this consultation, this week has been such a crazy one that I don't mind getting this day back.
Sometimes a cancellation can be a gift.
And I shall not look a gift cancellation in the mouth. No sirree.

The mouth of cancellation
The title of my next sociological tract.

Of ALL your tracts, DR John G., I admire your sociologicals the most.

DR Ginny, how long a drive is it to the hospital?

Novelty songs almost always annoy me. I've heard that they also annoyed Rosemary Clooney when Skitch Henderson made her record them. But at least she got some money out of it.

Interesting story. I guess "bland" was good :)
-
Ben Bagley liked novelty songs.
I remember Pretty Little Missus Bell, Pills and I Wrote a Play from the Porter volumes. And Rabelais on Harold Arlen Revisited.
-
A bland blend without blemish.

She told me she made her peace with the song after it was a huge hit and made her some money.

Is there a distinction between "novelty songs" and "party songs"? What about "special material"?
-
DR Ginny, how long a drive is it to the hospital?
It’s just over 3 miles, but I either have to go through the busy commercial area by the interstate or take a country route that a little out of the way. If Central Avenue were cut through, it would be a straight shot. As it is it’s about a 15 minute drive.

Thanks for all the welcomes for Richard. He’s had a shower and almost feels human.

Ginny, is Richard able to eat solid food now?
Yes, DR Jane, he restarted solid food with lunch yesterday. He’s eating very lightly and was advised to keep it pretty bland for a few days.
-
I just Zoomed with my book club friends. One of them just brought her husband home from Cleveland where he had an 8-hour open heart surgery a week ago today.

I expected after what he went through he isn't tempted to eat much else, at least not yet.

“Teach Your Children” is one of my favorite songs.
-
Here’s something odd.
I was sharing a conversation with David Crosby on Twitter yesterday.
-
And now he’s gone.
-
We were discussing which Beatles song would be most appropriate for yesterday’s gloomy, rainy day.
-
We both came up with the same choice at the same time.
Eleanor Rigby.
-
John G., where was Woodstock’94, and whose music did you hear?
How was that experience?
-
Anyone remember Thrill with Glycerone?
They just showed a commercial for that on The Mothers-in-Law.
-
Ah, it was not far from the original location.
Just looked up the details.
You were fortunate to have seen CS&N live. I never had that opportunity.
-
John G., where was Woodstock’94, and whose music did you hear?
How was that experience?
It was in the town of Woodstock that time near Saugerties.
Some of my favorite memories of that was of CSN, Delores O’Riordan, Melissa Etheridge, Orleans, Nine Inch Nails, Johnny Cash and a Gospel show with Thelma Houston and Mavis Staples and Red Hot Chili Peppers
-
A very young Rob Reiner is in this episode. And Desi Jr. was a drummer in the background.
