Well, you've read the notes, the notes were roller coastery, and now it is time for you to post until the roller coaster cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: REGALE!
-
Topic of the Day:
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Days of Wine and Roses
Hatari!
Peter Gunn (theme...my favorite version is Sarah Vaughan's (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAk8DwaF0fs))
The Pink Panther
Victor/Victoria

Good morning, all!
-
I slept rather well until 4:30, when I needed a bathroom break. As soon as I turned off the lights, Annabelle crawled under the blankets and Thatch settled o my other side. So, I had a loudly purring Annabelle facing me and a contented Thatch nestled into my back. I don't think I fell back to sleep until Annabelle decided she was warm enough to abandon me.
-
Then I had a strange dream about several things: my Aunt Lois and her brood coming down from Columbus OH to take care of me and my brother Macbeth while my parents were away, doing laundry, some sort of party, and a neighborhood kid who was some sort of sexual predator after one of my cousins.
-
Yesterday's TOD: a Huffy bike. I still remember my first lesson with my dad. I loved biking.
-
DR TCB, I thought your first bike was a chariot.
-
Today I have my usual 3-month checkup with my doctor. We have several things to discuss. Then this afternoon I have a Zoom meeting with my copyist about my score for No. 26 in the ballet. His work is good (Sibelius, not Finale), but I'm an erratic notater, and he has questions.
-
Good morning
-
I dreamt about telling a joke to people…or trying to ..they kept wandering away
-
I woke myself up by saying out loud “but it’s my favorite joke”
-
Good morning.
-
I donated blood yesterday in honor of Danise. I didn't sleep well at all last night, and I have a headache this morning. Probably not related.
-
Interestingly, my iron was too low to donate from the finger prick on my right hand; the left hand iron level was good. I wonder why the difference.
-
Good morning, all.
-
That was a nice memorial for Danise, Laura.

Wordle 4, Phoodle 3.

My first bike was a hand-me-down from Donna down the street. It was yellow. It was supposed to have had training wheels, but Dad didn’t want to put them on just to have to take them off again, so I had to learn to ride. I was four.
The rest of my bikes until year before last were all used. Some were quite wonderful.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! My Monday ladies’ club commitment went smoothly and now a quiet week lies ahead.
-
DR George, congratulations on being cast!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I believe I, too, am delinquent on the bike TOD.
Sometime around age 7 or 8 or thereabouts, in Columbus, I had a Huffy. I think I had training wheels for it, but it just wasn't the right time, and I gave the whole thing up. Then a couple of years later, suddenly the time WAS right, and I got another bike and learned quickly without the training wheels. Loved it from that moment on.
A bunch of years are a blank as far as a bike is concerned, so fast forward all the way to getting out of college and moving to Hollywood, USA. There, I got a burgundy colored Schwinn Continental 10-speed that I really loved, which was stolen one evening in front of Pickwick Books! I believe I had actually failed to chain it to something, which is pretty unthinkable. Later I got another Schwinn, a gray 10-speed whose model name escapes me, but it was up a bit in quality from the Continental. I had that bike for about a decade, and finally gave it to a neighbor when I was moving.
Haven't had one since. It's no priority, but I'd enjoy tooling around on one again right now, even though I wouldn't have the slightest idea what to get because the whole technology and design of bikes has changed a lot from when I knew them.
-
DR Laura - perhaps because you don't IRON with your left hand?
-
I think I've told this story before, but when I was given my 3-speed, my parents told me that it was the LAST set of wheels they were paying for! :)
-
I used to pore over the ads and specs for fancier bikes, but I don't think I ever bought one until many years later, when I got a touring bike with a comfortable (not racing) seat. That got sold off when we moved to the Midwest.
-
That was 10 years ago now!
-
TOD
Too many to try to list, I love 'em all. But the ones that pop right into my head as long time favorites are, in no particular order
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Charade
Days of Wine and Roses
Experiment in Terror
Touch of Evil
The Pink Panther
Wait Until Dark
Peter Gunn
Mr. Lucky
-
Three-speeds! I forgot about those.
That might be what I had in my Florida years, which until this moment were a blank in terms of bike memories.
Okay, here's a silly question: Back in the day (like, I'm thinking early '60s), were 3-speed bikes called "English Racers"?
-
I think I got along better handling the 10-speeds than I ever did with the 3-speeds.
-
Thank you, DR ChasSmith, for giving us PAGE TWO.
-
I always got a new bike - when my brother got a new bike and I got his old one.
They were usually Schwinn bikes purchased at the Western Auto store.
-
TOD:
Hatari
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Peter Gunn
Experiment In Terror
The Pink Panther
-
DR George, congratulations on being cast!
Thanks, Ginny!
-
From Bruce:
I think we should all make a pilgrimage to see George in Sunday in the Park with George.
That would be fun.
-
DR George how far from SeaTac is the theater?
-
George, what is the website for the theater?
-
I would hope Ann would join us if we go to the show, or at least join us for a dinner, or something.
-
I like Jack cheese & Havarti. I do not like muenster.
-
From Bruce:
I used to love Velveeta, but I was shocked what it tasted like after not having had any for the past fifty years.
I never liked Velveeta. I think I would likely feel the same way if I ate American cheese, unless maybe I purchased white American from the deli counter the way I used to buy it.
-
I do not like Brie or camembert.
-
I dislike more cheeses than I like.
-
Bruce, I look forward to seeing the cover of your new book.
-
I donated blood yesterday in honor of Danise. I didn't sleep well at all last night, and I have a headache this morning. Probably not related.
I know she would have appreciated that. I wish I was permitted to do the same.
-
Interestingly, my iron was too low to donate from the finger prick on my right hand; the left hand iron level was good. I wonder why the difference.
Interesting. At least one hand was good. Do they always do a finger prick before taking blood?
-
Laura, that was a lovely gesture for Danise.
-
They don't take my blood anymore, they dont like my heart meds
-
Oh I never wordled today
-
Home from the doctor. Everything is running late today, so I've been very crabby today. Access-a-Ride was early, so I arrived 45 minutes early to my appointment; the doctor saw me thirty minutes after my appointment time, and I was beginning to have panic attacks I would miss my return AAR. I see my doctor again on Thursday for the cataract surgery clearance.
-
DR George how far from SeaTac is the theater?
The theater is at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, so with good traffic, the Sea-Tac airport is about an hour away.

George, what is the website for the theater?
I don't know if there's a specific theater website since it's part of the college, but if you go to this link:
https://spscc.edu/events/arts-entertainment (https://spscc.edu/events/arts-entertainment)
Then, right under the word "Arts" in "Arts & Entertainment Calendar," click the right blue arrow once to get to the WEEK OF SUN, APR 16, 2023 (on a desktop computer...you might need to keep clicking on a phone or other device). You can then scroll down to the end of May and beginning of June listings to see that it looks like there are only going to be four performances.
-
I didn't know that. :-\
-
That wad my initial thought for guess 2 but I would have sworn they already used that word
-
I would hope Ann would join us if we go to the show, or at least join us for a dinner, or something.
That would be fun! Hopefully, it can all be coordinated. I'm sure that Jed can work that out. :)

The situation in Turkey is horrifying. The death has passed 6,000. Thankfully, World Central Kitchen has gone in to help. They’re now on the office-approved charity list, which means they match 100% of a donation through them.

Oh, look! It's Page Three!

A memoir by Barbra Streisand is to be published this fall.

The article I read says that the book will clock in at 1,040 pages.

All about ME - gag. DR Kevin will read it. I'll pass.

I’ll read the parts on I Can Get It for You Wholesale.

I saw a link to purchase tickets and now can't find it. I will keep looking.

I give up. I suspect what I saw wasn't a correct link anyway.

Hmm...I don't know when our first rehearsal will be, but I'll post ticket info as soon as I find out.

Thursday in the School with George was a working title.
-
George was a janitor.
-
It wasn’t workable.
-
Three-speeds! I forgot about those.

Okay, here's a silly question: Back in the day (like, I'm thinking early '60s), were 3-speed bikes called "English Racers"?
I forgot 3-speeds, too. I went from a one-speed to a 10-speed when I was 10 or 11. I loved that bike. It was actually a little large when I got it. I think it was a 21-inch bike. Blue. Easy to handle.

John Cleese is apparently going to write and star in a Fawlty Towers reboot.
-
I thought that said Fawlty Towers Robot.
-
Proofing vibes for MR BK as he reaches the end of that road.
Cover vibes for MR BK's book.
-
So many good Mancinis but a little more rare one I like is HIGH TIME.
-
Hello all. Of course I was away so long it was inevitable I learned some bad news. I'll always remember DR Danise as such a gentle soul.
-
And, DR Rodzinski, you were part of our wonderful walking tour.
-
Oh my, the things toddlers do.

TOD
So many great Mancini songs already mentioned.
My favorite is TWO FOR THE ROAD, the instrumental version.
-
I also love the Pink Panther theme.
-
Kids. They
say do the darnedest things!
-
I was just looking at the Broadway grosses. There really aren’t any big stars left in shows now that Samuel L. Jackson and Hugh Jackman have left. I don’t really consider Victoria Clark or Lea Michele to be big stars.
I guess Nathan Lane coming in would be the biggest.
-
Sean Hayes is coming in in that Oscar Levant show. Would you consider him a big star?
-
I feel nerdy and frantic and foolish
Shuffling some papers and looking half-goulish
But alive, but alive, but ALIIIIIIVE!!!!!
-
Days of Wine and Roses
Dear Heart
Two for the Road
So many, I could name more.
-
I can’t believe I forgot to include HIGH TIME.
So here it is!

Greetings from a cold church!
I’m waiting for two people to show up for a rehearsal of a small Valentines Day program we’re doing at a couple of assisted living places this weekend.
Churches are always cold, damn them.
-
Having Turkish food for dinner. Mercimek is a red lentil soup and one of my favorites. Having that and Lamb tava.
-
Funky chicken post 103!

Mercimek. It ain’t pretty, but the flavor made me swoon.

Lamb tava
-
At this rate, we’ll get to page five in a day or three.
-
Is everyone watching the state of the union address?
-
Is anyone watching it?
-
I’d rather watch State of the Union, my least favorite Frank Capra movie.
-
I can’t believe I forgot to include HIGH TIME.
So here it is!
I need to see that
Sort of the spiritual precursor to Rodney Dangerfield’s Back To School.
-
And, DR Rodzinski, you were part of our wonderful walking tour.
So fun!!
-
Is everyone watching the state of the union address?
Nope. I'll watch highlights after someone else has picked out the best parts. ;D

Tonight is a live cast of Pippin with members of the original cast.
-
Hello all. Of course I was away so long it was inevitable I learned some bad news. I'll always remember DR Danise as such a gentle soul.
DR Kerry passed away several years ago, too.

Ummmm.

I didn't know there was one :-[

Nope. I'll watch highlights after someone else has picked out the best parts. ;D
I will be doing the same.

I inherited Kerry's Kitchen Aid mixer. It's not his birthday, but it is his birthday month. The mixer was whirling quite a bit today.
-

Definitely!

Thinking about well known actors currently appearing in Broadway shows.
Jessica Chastain stars in a “reinvention” of A DOLL’S HOUSE, starting on Feb. 13.
I wonder how many people will buy tickets just to see her.
-
I may have missed this here on HHW, but I just read that “La La Land” is in the process of a Broadway musical adaptation.
-
John G., I always enjoy your food photos and descriptions. You live in a great restaurant town.
So many possibilities! 😉
-
I may have missed this here on HHW, but I just read that “La La Land” is in the process of a Broadway musical adaptation.
I hadn't heard that. I'd only heard of Days of Wine and Roses.
-
It was just announced today by Marc Platt, Ben’s producer dad.
Bartlett Sher will direct.
Same musical creative team as in the film,
Hurwitz, Pasek and Paul.
No cast announced yet, still way too early.
-
They won Oscars for “City of Stars”.
I think this will do well on Broadway.
-
La La Land was like New York, New York lite, IMO. Let’s see how the latter fares on Broadway. It certainly has a better score.
-
John G., I always enjoy your food photos and descriptions. You live in a great restaurant town.
So many possibilities! 😉
If only I could have shared the flavors with you.
-
Broadway audiences have changed so much over the years.
If it’s based on a well known film, and if the cast is widely known, it has a decent chance.
I suspect the cast will consist of well known celebrities.
-
I would have loved to have shared that meal with you, John G.!
-
By the way, John, now that I have all of the details of my daughter’s trip to Buenos Aires, I’m convinced that should be your next travel destination, if possible.
-
I inherited Kerry's Kitchen Aid mixer. It's not his birthday, but it is his birthday month. The mixer was whirling quite a bit today.
I find it comforting thinking of you using Kerry's mixture.
-
Tango and incredibly delicious food.
Great museums, outdoor marketplaces, super friendly people, wonderful bookstores, theater, opera, etc.
-
Logging out to watch the State of the Union Address.
Tough crowd this year. I wonder if those Republicans who wear assault weapon pins on their lapels will have the decency to remove them.
-
By the way, John, now that I have all of the details of my daughter’s trip to Buenos Aires, I’m convinced that should be your next travel destination, if possible.
We planned a cruise from Lima to Buenos Aires, and sadly cancelled it due to covid. I still hope to get to Buenos Aires one day.
-
Red lentil soup sounds divine.
-
I hate to say it, but I can't stomach watching the State of the Union and how bad actors will twist it.
-
Tango and incredibly delicious food.
Great museums, outdoor marketplaces, super friendly people, wonderful bookstores, theater, opera, etc.
Yes. Hungry for it.
-
Another great episode of All Creatures.
-
Best season do far. And only one or two episodes left.
-
I don’t think there’s a second season of The Larkins.
-
I wish the past would invite me back to rectify a thing or two.
Great quote from Siegfried in this episode.
-
Onward!
-
Six!
-
Finished Fall on Your Knees earlier. It did not end quite like I had predicted.
-
Hello all. Of course I was away so long it was inevitable I learned some bad news. I'll always remember DR Danise as such a gentle soul.
She was a sweet and lovely woman
-
Is everyone watching the state of the union address?
I am watching
-
Already saw several faces I’d love to give a good slap
-
Logging out to watch the State of the Union Address.
Tough crowd this year. I wonder if those Republicans who wear assault weapon pins on their lapels will have the decency to remove them.
I do not believe the people who wear them are aware of the meaning of the “d”word
-
Back from a longer finessing session than usual, all due to having five songs in this episode, which runs eighteen minutes, which is 5 or 6 longer than the other episodes, but it never feels like it.
-
Got a Caesar salad and soup at Gelson's.
-
I agree, DR John G. - very strong season of All Creatures, and several of the final episodes I found to be extremely moving.
-
Last night and tonight, I watched John Dexter's 1977 Met production of Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmélites. Very beautiful and moving, also.
-
But I cry at the drop of a hat.
-
I wish the past would invite me back to rectify a thing or two.
Great quote from Siegfried in this episode.
It is.

Already saw several faces I’d love to give a good slap
And slap the other cheek while you’re at it.

Or at least get sniffly.
-
I agree, DR John G. - very strong season of All Creatures, and several of the final episodes I found to be extremely moving.
We did as well.
-
I keep a big box o'kleenex near the chair where I sit to watch things.
-
The original All Creatures Great and Small was on for seven seasons. I don't recall the series dealing with the war at all.
-
It seems the new series will follow the true war activities of the characters the stories the show is based on.
-
Only shallow people do not judge appearances.
Comment from Lost Illusions.
-
'night
-
Or at least get sniffly.
I got sniffly at the story of River, the horse with PTSD.
-
I’m thinking I had enough of Lost Illusions for the night.
-
I’m going to have a hot bath. I got clearance to soak the hand.
-
Huzzah!
-
I hope there will be bubbles involved, too.
-
I could not watch the SOTU address.....mostly because of the expected closeups of the idiots in the audience who should be watching from their trailer homes instead of seats of power....
And honestly I can't watch Joe Biden stumble through any more speeches.....he loses his place and has to go back and correct himself or he just rambles on.....and four or five times, he always throws in a curse word......and he always messes up reading numbers.....
So, no thanks.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Bath was nice.
-
I feel refreshed.
-
But seven is better.
-
Seven!
-
What is this page seven malarkey?
-
Does that rhyme with oligarchy?
-
Or bar key?
-

True (on both counts), but Biden's still a f*ck of a lot better than the idiot who was there last time.
-
Just my 2¢. ;)
-
Excellent SOTU address.
Glad I watched it.
-
Senator Mitt Romney said to George Santos, “ You don’t belong here”.
-
Marjorie Taylor Greene looks like she has a side job kidnapping Dalmatian puppies.
-
Of course, she screamed out “liar!” during the address.
But, I was pleasantly surprised at the positive responses on both sides of the aisle.
-
President Biden looked like he was having a great time.
He was feisty, funny and compassionate.
-
He managed to force Republicans to promise not to cut Medicare and Social Security.
He is so good at this.
-
All my own opinion, of course. 😊
-
Kyrsten Sinema arrived wearing a Big Bird outfit.
She sat with the Republicans, as did Joe Manchin.
-
Looks like I cleared the room! Spoo.
Good night, all.

Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
It’s raining hard out there.
-
Thunderstorms are supposedly rolling in.
-
I’m nearing a millstone.
-
Or milestone.
-
Not gallstones.
-
Voila.
-
And here it is! :D
-
Must write some notes now.
-
I really must.
-
Don't try and stop me.
-
Don't try and stop me.
We shan't!
-
What, one post in an hour?
-
How can that be?
-
No TCG.
-
George went down a damn rabbit hole.
-
I, of course, was writing some notes.
-
We could have been on page nine.
-
And yet we are on page eight.
-
Not page nine.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
DR Rodzinski, it is really nice to have you back.
Thank you, sweetest Jane!
-
Save the day, Rodzinski!
-
Prepping for the reading of the notes!
-
Must… reach… page 9
-
We're a looooong way away and George is down a damn rabbit hole.
-
How many posts does it take again?
-
Thirty.
-
Only thirty.
-
How many licks does it take to get to the center of page 9?
-
Thirty would be purty.
-
Or just the top of it.
-
Thirty-one and we're done and off this page.
-
This damn Geraldine Page.
-
I think Rodzinski has missed the last fifteen BK books :)
-
-30- as they say in J-school
-
We must be close.
-
We were, we were close.
-
Page nine has made its entrance.
