Well, you've read the notes, the notes were late, and now it is time for you to post until the late cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LAMBENT!
-
Topic of the Day: I used to have Netflix, but I got rid of that years ago. I do have Amazon Prime, but I really don't watch very much of their streaming stuff, at all. I don't know why. I also get HBO Max because I have HBO, but again, I hardly watch anything from it. :-\
-
I'm seriously thinking about (finally) getting rid of TV altogether. I really haven't watched much of anything in quite a while, but I haven't pulled the plug just yet.
-
Well, this is pretty cool...Cuban American Singer Celia Cruz To Be First Afro Latina On U.S. Quarter (https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/cuban-american-singer-celia-cruz-235521368.html). :)
-
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
This week has been hell for a tired old man. Three days in a row of doctor's appointments is too much, so I will adjust my future calendar accordingly to no more than two appointments a week. I may need to go in to City Center tomorrow, and I will call Joshie later about that.
-
Last night I turned off the lights at 8:00. The alarm rang 10 hours later at 6:00am. I did not get ten hours of sleep; I'd guess - with the cats coming and going - I slept maybe eight and a half hours.
-
DR vixmom, thanks for the updates on DR WFO.
-
Today is my last doctor's appointment for the week. It's for surgery clearance for the March 6 cataract.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
~~~MEDICAL VIBES~~~ for DR elmore3003 that you have a clear path to surgery
-
Wow, DR John G. That opera sounds wild. Enjoyed reading about it.
-
Anyone here got any chicken jokes? :)
-
TOD:
I subscribe to entirely too many streaming services, and don't watch very many of them. Wasteful.
-
Already running late.
Later.
-
Good morning, all.
DR Elmore is having his second eye done on March 6, and another friend in NYC is having her first eye done on March 7.
I know at least two other people elsewhere who have recently had the cataract surgery, or who are soon to as well.
I, in the meantime, still await my consultation appointment which isn't until March 17.
-
I actually don't know what we stream, and what we don't. Or rather, what even qualifies as streaming. We've never given up cable, and that includes On Demand. So is that streaming? But we also have fire sticks, as well as subscriptions to e.g. Disney+, HBO Max, and, honestly, I don't know what all.
DePauw University was supposed to be doing Gilbert & Sullivan's 'Trial By Jury' but I just got a message saying that they production is a series of 22 G/S songs put together as a fun mystery/comedy by the director and the entire orchestra under the direction of the head of the orchestra/opera department.
I wonder what happened to 'Trial By Jury'?
-
I have Peacock and HBO Max.
I also watch FreeVee and Tubi and FilmRise.
Whoa. Is this for real?
RIP - Burt Bacharach, 94
-
(Yes, I know it’s for real. It’s just … almost unimaginable. And yet … 94.)
-
No. Just no.
Sometimes your eyes look blue to me.
I also love Susan Egan’s version on BK’s first Bacharach album.
Very sad news about BB.
-
Smarty the Car started this morning.....so I drove him around town for awhile and let him run a few minutes, too.
So unless we have low low temps for a few days in a row, he should be fine. I'll drive him to the store tomorrow.
-
Bad marketing name of the day. This bites.
-
Whoa. Is this for real?
RIP - Burt Bacharach, 94
Oh, no! :( But, wow...94 years old.
-
The news is certainly reverberating.
I've had two friends who aren't even into music enough to be knowledgeable about a lot of songwriters' names tell me they're shocked to hear that Burt Bacharach has died.
-
Still waiting on answers re: WFO
I enjoyed the chicken jokes last night.
I am glad!
At least there was one person I avoided anmoying!
-
A few years ago, a co-worker asked if I remembered the song, "Always Something There To Remind Me (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lVrELhxOFnM)" by Naked Eyes from the 1980s? I said that I did.
-
He asked if I knew that it was a cover version? And that the original was from the 1960s?
I said that I didn't!
-
I looked it up and found Lou Johnson's version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRlV4kP9EQg) and thought to myself that that has a real Burt Bacharach vibe to it. And THEN I found that BB had written it! ;D
-
And after that, I found out that Dionne Warwick (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D53v84sXluw) had recorded it as a demo!
My brother came by to pick up the easel to use for his girlfriend's son's memorial photo board......
He also fixed my screen door at the front door so that it doesn't slam shut.....I didn't know there was a little fixit that you can use a screw driver on.....
-
Of course Mr BB wrote the theme from The Blob.
No news from DR Vixmom. Sending more vibes for DR WFO. I hope he is feeling better today.
-
Loved the chicken jokes, Vixmom. They didn’t ruffle these feathers.
[DR vixmom, avert your eyes!]
My wife told me to take the spider out instead of killing him.
Went out. Had a few drinks. Nice guy. He's a web designer.
AAR to the doctor was great. My clearance was fiished by 1:30, so I sat down to wait for the pickup. At 2:40 I walked to the sidewalk and caught a taxi. At 2:46 the driver called to tell me he had arrived. God damn them all to hell.
-
I am very glad to be home.
-
DR singdaw, no offense to you, but I am very tired of the George Santos jokes. I just want the bastard out of politics and back to working the drag bars.
I understand the sentiment, DR elmore3003.
I do hope, once he's out on his ASS, that he is not entitled to all the fringe benefits of an ex-Representative.
-
Glad you are cleared for the next step, medically.
-
Waiting for the arrival of the hard drive, and then I'll be watching all ten episodes and taking any notes necessary. I don't think there'll be many.
-
I like the early tragic oddity, "Two Hour Honeymoon," Burt B wrote with Paul Hampton.
Elmore, glad your epic week of appointments is done.
The the opera The Hours at the Met started late, that was the lateness of The Hours.
Listened to The Burt Bacharach Album on my phone. Wanting more.
DR singdaw a person must be in Congress at least five years to qualify for ANY retirement or healthcare benefit lasting beyond the term of his service.
So a one term senator is eligible but a one term congressperson is not.
I want to see George Santos convicted of fraud and sentenced to five years in prison.
-
Which, according to Newsweek, is a real possibility.
-
Fingers crossed.
At least you didn’t ride in on a chicken.
Only five years?
Some folks probably consider that a paid vacation.
Good!
I’m tired. Long day. Too much gossip and intrigue, none of it interesting.
Just saw a list of the supposed top five BB songs. I didn’t agree with any of them.
Each of us could come up with five and not overlap.
So what would be on my list?
I think my fifth is always the song that’s playing.
Rodzinski, that’s the first time I’ve listened to “Two Hour Honeymoon”.
😳 😧
I liked the crickets.
I’ll take the Fifth.
Which, according to Newsweek, is a real possibility.
While it would be great, I will not hold my breath.
Elizabeth Holmes was initially charged for her crimes on July 28, 2018. The trial was initially set for 2020. Granted the pandemic slowed things down, causing it to be delayed again.
-
January of last year she was found guilty, yet she wasn't sentenced until November.
She won't go to prison until April, after her baby is born.
I will believe it when it happens.
Jane, I have pretty much lost faith in our “system of justice”.
Not optimistic at all.
I am, however, pleased that Mike Pence was just sent a subpoena by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Seems like a step in the right direction.
I think Jack Smith is the only person in America who wants to see him.
Finishing Lost Illusions. All of the dreams have fallen apart. Only misery and death remain, while the rich get richer. It's a happy tale.
This movie had the most gratuitous scene of nudity I can remember in a scene of a recent film. Our hero, such as he is, has just made love to his mistress and is now standing nude by her desk. He sees thousands in cash on the desk and picks up a few of the bills to take a look at them. Meanwhile, all you see is his penis in the background. It may have been a stunt, well, you know, as BK would have said and did say.
Started The Menu, a movie right up my alley.
-
Anya Taylor-Joy is a delight.
-
The rest is just weird.
-
Good night, all.
-
Yeah, The Menu is a little - arch and winky for my taste.
-
Finished with my viewing.
Did a quick Ralph's run for a few items. They're having a drinks sale so I'll have to go back tomorrow.
Active shooter.
2 policemen shot.
A very nice area of Baltimore County, not far from me.
Schools closed.
Manhunt underway.
This has been going on for 24 hours.
Helicopters hovering above.
Same consideration.
Have just received another emergency phone call alert from Baltimore County Police Department.
-
I hope they find this guy, and soon.
He’s hiding in a wooded area, 20 minutes away from me.
-
Keep us posted.
-
Hopefully TCB and George will arrive soon.
-
The FBI claims that the suspect has been “pinned down”.
However, he is still armed with a rifle.
-
The officer that the suspect shot is on life support.
-
Guess we will watch and wait.
I’ll stay indoors.
-
Yikes DR Iris!
-
I have no tv at present. I think some streaming services came with my phone deal, but I don’t know how to access it.
-
On the 8th page, God created some posts…
-
I would like to access HBO when the new Succession season begins.
Today, my friend Shelly and I went to Home Depot and I bought a new vanity for my downstairs "powder room."
-
I've needed one for several years, so I just decided to bite the bullet and get one.
-
It was on sale for $90 less, so that was good. :)
-
I think that THIS (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Glacier-Bay-Everdean-30-50-in-W-x-18-75-in-D-Bath-Vanity-in-White-with-Cultured-Marble-Vanity-Top-in-White-with-White-Basin-EV30P2-WH/311606054) was the one.
-
It's fully assembled so that when I do actually put it in my bathroom (it's in the garage right now), I just have to unbox it, then hook up the (separately purchased) faucet.
-
I don't remember which faucet I got, either. ::)
-
I'll take a picture after it's installed.
-
I won't have a before picture of what I used to have.
-
That had already been removed.
-
I need to patch the holes where the old mirror was.
-
Faucet vibes to you, sir.
-
It was just a mirror without any kind of frame, or even a border.
-
Faucet vibes to you, sir.
Thanks, Rodzinski!
-
Got a new kitchen sink in the garage myself. Big renovation soon. Everything AND the kitchen sink in the garage right now.
-
Been peeling off wallpaper in the bathrooms. I’d be lying if I called that fun.
