Well, you've read the notes, the notes were uneventful, and now it is time for you to post until the uneventful cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GAMBIT!

And the word of the day is: GAMBIT!
I like that movie. Almost EXACTLY a year ago, I bought the recent Blu-ray (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09LSH9HX3). :)
-
Good morning, all!
-
I did not sleep well. Something I ate for dinner really upset my stomach and my sleep.
-
Today I have to deal with an Amazon Fresh delivery, finish the opening number of the ballet, and begfin serious work on my taxes.
-
;)
-
Good morning, friends.
-
DR Ron Pulliam, I have already tossed the Gramophone issue, so I can no longer tell you whose recording of Turandot contains the original Alfano finale. I, too, love the Sutherland-Pavarotti recording, as well as the Nilsson and Tebaldi recording on RCA, but I've always wanted to hear the original.
-
I had to return this tater tot windchime to Amazon. It just didn't make a nice tinkly sound.
The birds seems to enjoy it, however.
-
The original Turandot ending was recorded in 1989, sung by Josephine Barstow in an album of operatic finales conducted by John Mauceri on Decca released in 1990.
-
Happy day to those who celebrate.
-
I had forgotten about this: the color-restored version of Evening Primrose.

Also, here is a complete audio recording of the original Yale production of Sondheim's The Frogs from the natatorium:

Good morning, all.
-
I had a pretty decent sleep, even if it wasn't long enough (but they never are), following two days of accompanying gigs at (quite ritzy) retirement home communities. It's easy work, but the commuting can be a pain that takes a lot of time. Done for now, so it's back to preparing for some spring musicals.
-
Also, here is a complete audio recording of the original Yale production of Sondheim's The Frogs from the natatorium:

You can hear Christopher Durang, Meryl Streep, and Sigourney Weaver in the chorus.
-
Thank you, Mr. DR singdaw, sir.
-
The MN Dept of Transportation's "name the new snowplow" contest has just concluded. Among the winners:
Clearopathtra
Blader Tot Hotdish
Better Call Salt
Sleetwood Mac
Han Snowlo
-
You are welcome, DR ChasSmith.
-
Glad, as always, to oblige my friends and neighbors.
-
You may show your appreciation with hotdish.
-
;D
-
I don't believe I ever listened to that Turandot ending. Time to rectify the situation.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I like Clearapatha or however it was spelled.
-
I’m interested in The Frogs recording.
-
Wordle and Phoodle in 3.

I’m not quite up yet.

Hello, 0 guests!
-
Continued vibes for MR BK.
-
I think today is the World Series.....but I probably won't be watching in of it - on purpose.
-
Nice Sunny Day Here.
-
I like the snow plow names.
-
I forgot to ask my question on Wednesday, but I'm going to ask it now before I forget again. But MR BK can wait to answer it on Wednesday.
For all of those EGOMANIACS who bought the perk to have their names in the CD booklets - did that start already or will it start with these two new releases? And I forget how many times we get our names plastered in the booklets......
Anyone who remembers or knows can answer.
I'll wait.................................

Happy Sunday to one and all. If you're not watching that sports event that shall remain nameless, check out the new Broadway Radio Show. I am joined by Ethan Paulini & Liz Flemming to chat about the Off-Broadway revival of Maltby & Shire's BABY, which is celebrating its 40th Anniversary. Richard Maltby worked with the team to update the show, which was a Drama Desk nominee. And now there's a brand new cast recording of the musical coming out this Tuesday! Check out the interview:

These next CD should be the start, and our names should be in 10 CDs.

Of course, BK will correct me if I'm wrong. ;D

From Iris:
Jane, you had asked about the Baltimore detective who was shot numerous times.
He is still on life support.
I’m not on Facebook, but there are updates about him there, posted by Justin Berk, a local meteorologist.
Thank you. I found his page. I either missed it, or didn't realize the second shooting happened during the hunt for the shooter :(
-
I was hoping the Super Bowl began earlier.
-
I only care as we will be going to Best Buy and prefer shopping in a quiet store.
-
Maltby & Shire's BABY, which is celebrating its 40th Anniversary.
LOVE love love that score! Thanks for this, DR Donald.

-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
I've done everything I usually do except make the bed. Now I can't since all three cats are lounging there. I did however deal with the Amazon delivery, finish the ballet opening, and feed the cats. I've got water on the boil for some pasta, and after dinner cleanup, I'll spend the night sorting my tax receipts. I haven't got my 1099 from Social Security yet, and that pisses me off.

Maltby & Shire's BABY, which is celebrating its 40th Anniversary.
LOVE love love that score! Thanks for this, DR Donald.
Broadway Olympia Productions is in rehearsals for Baby right now! I can't wait to see it!

I'm actually planning to go out grocery shopping during The Big Game. The store should be deserted.
-
Ordered from a new jernt - Gino's East pizza - a personal deep dish Chicago-style pizza with pepperoni. We shall see.
-
Mmmm..... deep dish pizza.
-
We're not making too much posting progress today.

Good afternoon!

You are welcome, DR KevinH!

Sheryl Lee Ralph is singing Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing before the game. Would love to hear that.
-
What if a child named Burner Bunsen went to a chemistry lab and used a bunsen burner?
-
We were in and out of Best Buy in five minutes, amazing.
-
T-Mobile was empty so we stopped in there first. Service was great.
-
Then we went into Sleep Number and tried various mattresses. It was quiet when we walked, then more people arrived. Still, I didn't feel as if I needed my mask.
-
Mmmm..... deep dish pizza.
I should think up in your neck of the woods there would be Hotdish Pizza.
-
I went to Shop Rite for half a dozen things and was in and out of there in half a dozen minutes.

Our new bed is a sleepnumber. We're very happy with it
-
Thank the Lawd you made it through DR VIX MOM.
-
Thank you DR GEORGE....that sounds about right.
-
I have been watching a few movies on MGM+ but everything I have chosen turns out to be a bad acting contest among all of the performers.....
-
DR RON PULLIAM I do not believe an income tax refund is taxable income.

Another high-altitude object was shot down today, this time over Lake Huron.
4th time in just over a week.
-
One thing’s for sure, they’re not extraterrestrials looking for signs of intelligent life HERE. 😄
-
;D
-
Four!
-
I decided not to wait until The Big Game had started before shopping. It was busy, but not horrendously so.
-
In not-so-good news, I went to fire up the old laptop, which has not been turned on in probably 8 months, with the idea of starting on my taxes.
It appears the laptop may no longer be useable - battery appears to be dead. Oh, well. It was fairly inexpensive to begin with.
-
Sorry about your laptop, singdaw.
-
The DH is watching the Puppy Bowl. I may join him.
-
Thanks, DR DR Iris. I suppose it was inevitable. When you don't pay a lot, you don't get a lot.
-

Can it not be plugged in?

I was going to ask if you are still happy with it. We are looking at the i8. Is that the one you got?

Sorry. I hope you find a new one you like even better.
-
I, too, love the musical BABY.
Saw the original Broadway production in 1983, childless at the time.
-
My daughter took me to see the Paper Mill Playhouse production on May 9, 2004.
-
It was Mother’s Day, and their closing performance.
Afterwards, we had a snack in the adjoining restaurant, and several cast members joined us.
Michael Rupert and Norm Lewis were both very friendly and charming.
-
I always cry when I listen to “The Story Goes On”.
I find it incredibly moving.
For those familiar with the context of the song, no pun intended. 😉
-
The original Broadway production of BABY ran almost 9 months.
That amuses me. 😊
-
DR Vixmom do you have a remote to work your bed or do you have to use an app on your phone? We were told they don't have remotes anymore.
-
;)
-
Pizza was good, but too heavy for me - I guess I'm just a regular pizza guy.
-
Did my writing.
-
It is quiet here.
-
Is everyone watching a Superbowl commercial?

I don’t know the model,it’s a queen size because our room is too small for a king
-
;)
-
DR Vixmom do you have a remote to work your bed or do you have to use an app on your phone? We were told they don't have remotes anymore.
We have a remote, we didn’t want the app.
-
Is everyone watching a Superbowl commercial?
Not in this house
-
DR Vixmom do you have a remote to work your bed or do you have to use an app on your phone? We were told they don't have remotes anymore.
We have a remote, we didn’t want the app.
We agree, except we have been told there is no way we can have one >:(
-
Is everyone watching a Superbowl commercial?
Not in this house
;D
-
I will watch the commercials tomorrow.
-
At least the ones people put on FB to share-lol
-
Mmmm..... deep dish pizza.
Mmmm..... agreed!

Yup! :)

Another high-altitude object was shot down today, this time over Lake Huron.

Hmm...I wonder if the repubs are still concerned about "Sleepy" Joe Biden?? ;)
-
I, too, love the musical BABY.

Cool! Well, about seeing the original Broadway production in 1983.
-
It was Mother’s Day, and their closing performance.
Afterwards, we had a snack in the adjoining restaurant, and several cast members joined us.
Michael Rupert and Norm Lewis were both very friendly and charming.
VERY cool!
-
Is everyone watching a Superbowl commercial?
Nope. My mom and niece just left and I haven't turned on the TV. I don't think I will.
-
I'm in the mood for something to eat, but I haven't decided what/where, yet.
-
DR Vixmom do you have a remote to work your bed or do you have to use an app on your phone? We were told they don't have remotes anymore.
We have a remote, we didn’t want the app.
We agree, except we have been told there is no way we can have one >:(
How rude!
-
I just remembered that my sister still needs me to go shopping for her at Costco. Fortunately, they don't close for another hour, so there's still time.
-
We’re watching the halftime show
-
The floating stages are kind of fun
-
The “choreography” and costumes are not
-
Only part of the “music” that sounded like music to me was the “ under my umbrella” refrain
-
Rihanna appears to be wearing a red duvet and surrounded by a couple of hundred pillsbury doughboy lookalikes
-
Ms. Ralph still is a dreamgirl.

I wanted the third verse.
-
It was Mother’s Day, and their closing performance.
Afterwards, we had a snack in the adjoining restaurant, and several cast members joined us.
Michael Rupert and Norm Lewis were both very friendly and charming.
VERY cool!
Both Baby stories excellent. I saw a community production. As much as I love the score, they tell the stories better than the book.
-
There was just a fun commercial featuring rabbits
-
I saw the original production of Baby on Broadway twice, including the closing performance.
-
The criticism leveled against it at the time was that the book was more like a television sitcom. I don't know about that, but I agree with DR John G.; the songs were better.
-
I can plug the laptop in, DR vixmom, but the battery is not taking the charge, alas.
-
Singdaw, I enjoyed reading the winning names for the new snowplow.
So clever!
-
Thanks! The names were submitted by the public and then the top names were voted on, again by the public. They've done that now for the past 5 years or so.
-
Lizzo reacted online, claiming it was the highest honor she has ever received. 😄
-
It would probably be a hoot listening to the plow dispatcher radio.
-
I think we're gonna get to at least page six today.
-
I do.
-
I Do, I Do.
-
Is there an echo in here?
-
SIX!
-
We watched another new episode of Vera on BritBox tonight. The character suits Brenda Blethyn very well.
-
I just remembered that my sister still needs me to go shopping for her at Costco. Fortunately, they don't close for another hour, so there's still time.
AARRGGHH!! I didn't know that Costco actually closes at 6:00 now! I don't know when that changed. :-\
-
AND they were out of cheesecakes. :o But I got the other stuff that she needed. Now, off to Fred Meyer!

Good night, friends.

I will watch for that one.

Sorry. I never go that late so have no clue as to the closing time.

Maybe they only reduced the Sunday hours.

Watching Voodoo MacBeth. Interesting.
-
I can plug the laptop in, DR vixmom, but the battery is not taking the charge, alas.
That happened with mine, but I coukd use it while it was plugged in
-
Great movie. It had 10 directors. All about Orson Welles staging MacBeth in Harlem. At the end, during the credits, there’s film of the original staging.
-

They used to be open until 6:30 on Sunday. I never heard that it changed, so it might have been a recent change.
-
Maybe they only reduced the Sunday hours.
Hopefully!
-

For the most part, but I wanted to look around a bit for myself since I was there, anyway.
-
Good night, all.
-
Page six?
-
We don't need no stinking page six.
-
The Chicago pizza is playing havoc with my tummy. Not digesting well - not nauseous or anything, it's just heavy and I'm still feeling it - I didn't e even eat the last piece.
-
No more Chicago-style pizza for me.
-
Or wire hangers.
-
Or hanging wires.
-
Tried to find something to watch - nothing yet.
-
With all those damn movies, nothing.
-
I'm almost tempted by this horror movie prequel called Pearl, just because it looks loopy, but I'm not sure how graphic it is.
-
Someone’s gotta post something and that someone will be me.
-
We went to the neighbors just for a visit, but ended up watching the garish halftime show and the 2nd half, which ended up pretty entertaining.
-
I'm almost tempted by this horror movie prequel called Pearl, just because it looks loopy, but I'm not sure how graphic it is.
What's the original movie for which Pearl is the sequel? :)
-
The original film is called X.
-
Why did everyone disappear right when they should not have disappeared.
-
Clearly George is back from Costco.
-
Was a rabbit hole waiting?
-
Clearly.
-
Clearly George is back from Costco.
Yes, I'm back.
-
And so here we sit, barely on page seven.
-
A repeat of yesterday.
-
I was looking for some pictures on my computer of The Manhattan Transfer.
-
And the day before.
-
And the day before.
-
No TCB.
-
Listening to Andre Previn's wonderful Elmer Gantry score, which we released back in the day, first time ever from the original three-track scoring masters and not the two-track album master, although we also included that as a bonus. Incredible disc.
-
Gratuitous Post #200!
-
If you don't have it, you should. Long out of print but we still have a few.
-
Well, at least we made 200.
-
There's something to be said for that.
-
I bought some slides on eBay from Vixmom's former boyfriend, Gorman Bechard, and for a long time I haven't been able to find the CD-ROM that I had them scanned to, but it turned up yesterday while cleaning up!
-
I'm not sure what it is, though.
-
Funny thing...finding things when one cleans up. ;)
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And page eight has arrived.
-
Just in the nick of time.
-
Anyway, I had the slides scanned shortly after I got them, but they didn't scan one of them.
-
My sister's boyfriend scanned them a couple of years ago, and he got the missed slide, so now, I have the complete set!
-
;D
-
The only issue is that the photo shop (remember those??) that did the original scans, scanned them at a lower resolution because that's what was the best at the time...the early 2000s.
