Well, you've read the notes, the notes were good and flopped, and now it is time for you to post until the flop cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: IMPROMPTU!
-
That's too bad about not being able to record Smile. Was it because he only wanted the updated version out there?

Good morning, all!
-
I had a lousy night. I couldn't get to sleep, although I did sleep well when I finally did. I expected to be quite groggy this morning, but I'm not. I have some tax cleanup and printing this morning, and I need to call Access-a-Ride for my trip tomorrow to my new accountant's office at Broadway and 39th. Then I can relax.
-
Good morning, friends.

I call it supporting young female entrepreneurs.

I have not seen any Girl Scouts selling cookies this year

I could really go for some Thin Mints

Interesting discussion of Smile in today's Notes.
-
Fun jokes last night, DR vixmom.
-
Good morning.
-
DR Elmore, do you know anything about the new tour of Peter Pan that's in the works?
I know someone just about the right age to see Peter Pan.
-
The Local Theater Critic mentioned some of the shows that might come through here next season. It doesn't look promising.

I told my daughter after the last touring show, that unless it's Phantom or CATS, I'll probably trade in any ALW tickets for something else.
-
I did not like the new staging of Phantom at all. But it's the show that got us hooked on theater. And CATS, because she was really young when she saw it last, and it was a fun time in our lives.
-
And if anyone ruins another classic like they did Oklahoma!, I will trade in those tickets.
-
Because I have lost my patience with awful shows.
-
Boy, I'm in a mood, aren't I?
-
Pancake "breakfast" after church today. Always a good thing. Except for the sticky dishes.
-
DR Laura, were there any leftovers from your wonderful-looking repast?

Good morning, all.

So, is anyone planning on buying a mattress tomorrow?

Hello, 6 guests!

I’m not sure if I’m awake yet.
-
DR Elmore, do you know anything about the new tour of Peter Pan that's in the works?
I know someone just about the right age to see Peter Pan.
I'm sorry, dear! I did not know there was a tour going out. My friend John Bell, whom you met on the Fiddler or My Fair Lady tour, is going out with Into the Woods.
-
All I have left to do is vacuum and I can relax.

If I started vacuuming, I’d be at it for days.

So, I don’t. 😀

New Broadway Radio Show: STEP RIGHT UP! It's Musicals on the Midway. Barnum, State Fair, Big, Carnival, Side Show, and more! Enjoy!!!

I enjoyed reading the SMILE notes.
I saw the movie but MR BK's recordings were my introduction to the musical songs.
I like them all, but Disneyland is very special.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Now I know all about pigs - I can go on Jeopardy!
Thanks DR VIXMOM.
-
Traveling to The New Accountant vibes for DR ELMORE tomorrow.
-
Thanks DR JANE - I have some Barkeeper's Friend - and I never thought of trying that.....
And muscle......
-
Yes, I would love some Thin Mints if you don't mind, thank you.
-
Singdaw, one peanut butter cookie, two chocolate zucchini cakes, and a couple pieces of the strawberry lemonade cake.
They ate quite a bit of hummus and salsa yesterday.
-
I vacuumed the apartment, which always means taking my life into my own hands. One of these days I'm going to get my feet caught in the cord or miss grabbing onto a support and kill myself. I've got AAR scheduled for tomorrow morning, and I need a storage carton to put away all of my tax work. I can now go back to the ballet.
-
From DR Vixmom:
Very sobering and reminded us of what is going on in the Ukraine right now
It is, and also about Russia & Germany during WW2 and before the war.
-
DR Vixmom were you told many stories of that time. I heard some from family members, the difficulty of being an evacuated child, though safe with nice relatives, to being in London during the bombings.
-
Because I have lost my patience with awful shows.
A waste of time and money, and sad too.
-
Isn't that what President's Day is all about?
;D
-
Nathan's birthday isn't till Tuesday, but due to schedules again, we'll be celebrating it, dinner-wise, tonight. Texas Roadhouse is looking like the leading candidate.
-
Enjoy the birthday cerebration!
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
Hamlisch simply did not want to be reminded of stuff that wasn't a success. His first words to me were, "Oh, no one wants to hear that." It even took me a while to get him to say yes to the ones we did record, but I had the wonderful Frank Military on my side at Warner Chappell.
-
I'm sure Mr Hamlisch cashed the checks.
-
DR VIXMOM is the Altar League like the Lullaby League?
-
I am driving my oldest brother and my sister Paula to the visiting hours of our late cousin's husband. Edie passed away about a year ago.....and her husband passed away early last week.
I guess their kids are our first cousins once removed - but they always seemed like first cousins to us....Vicki, Roe, and Marcia. Roe is short for Monroe.....

He did the same with his Jean Seberg musical, which has some good stuff in it.

Will he sit the saddle?

DR VIXMOM is the Altar League like the Lullaby League?
Yes but with more laundry

DR VIXMOM is the Altar League like the Lullaby League?
Did I really type league instead of guild?

DR Jrand is that visiting hours in the hospital?

Browsing what I can take into Japan, and in my carry-on luggage, I noticed counterfeit money is not permitted. I am so shocked ;D
-
I don't swear very often, but damn those terrorist who have reacted these restricted regulations for traveling with liquids.
-
Toothpaste is a liquid. I need sensitive teeth toothpaste, and I HATE the taste of Sensodyne, yet it is the only one that comes in a proper size for traveling. I have to take a very small tube of Crest, which taste wise is acceptable, and check a larger size of Colgate to use once we arrive in Japan.
-
In the States they are lenient about my toothpaste, however, out of country regulations can be more strict.
-
Poor me. By the time I got the cooking vessels washed, all that was left was cold pancakes.

I never told ya'll about the cold pancakes and the rain, did I?

Wordle: 5/6

Sunday evening greetings! It’s been a pretty quiet weekend here. We’re fine, but I’m not in a very good mood.
-
DR Vixmom, here’s a joke for you that little Robbie (age 7) told in a Cub Scout day camp talent show:
What does a pig put on a sunburn?
-
OINKment!
-
Poor me. By the time I got the cooking vessels washed, all that was left was cold pancakes.
Poor you, though I am fine with plain cold pancakes, as long as the flavor is good.

Zoom done and we're not doing what David wanted to do and that's a good thing.

Food was some creamy tomato soup and a salad from the Gelson's salad bar with Bob's Big Boy bleu cheese dressing - all very good. And now some Dorito's Cool Ranch chips.
-
DR VIXMOM I'm sure you typed Guild......
-
It was really good.
It sounds really good.

Hospital? No entiendo.
-
The viewing was nice....low key.....lots of folks. We saw lots of cousins and second cousins.....and met our cousin's fiance! He was looking overwhelmed.....but that was to be expected.
Wait till he gets married!
-
I am glad to hear that it went well, DR Jrand72. As well as these things can go.
-
DR Jrand, I was confused and thought you had already gone to the viewing, and this was another sad situation. I am glad it went well.
-
Jane, when I traveled extensively, I frequently bought travel size items from minimus.biz.
-
Thanks for the link DR Iris. I will check it out. My problem is that some of the products simply don't come in a travel size. Also, for a longer trip I will need more of everything than what I carry on the plane, which means I have to pack duplicates and hope my luggage isn't lost.
-
I’m sure it meant a lot that you went, JRand.
-
Made a Costco run today. Got a thing of Pepcid because BK had me scared of a Pepcid shortage. Took the young’uns to IHOP first. Hadn’t been to one in a few years. Had some kind of caramel dulce de leche pancakes that were quite tasty if not quite the kind of thing which one feels good about eating.
-
I found Vixmom’s pig jokes too filthy to enjoy.

;D

Good night, friends.

Yoooooooooooooooou.

I heard Shen Yun had some wild propaganda sections in it. Boy, I wonder what their advertising budget is. I haven’t been anywhere Shen Yun isn’t in decades.
-
Been enjoying Jack Cassidy in He & She episodes on YouTube.
-
I went into my bathroom the other morning and there was a Shen Yun poster on the wall. That’s quality advertising.

Grr...she beat out The Manhattan Transfer for the Grammy (but not for the Best New Artist category, of course).

Janis Siegel of TMT actually recorded it twice...once in 1982 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sL2-uXklsY4), and again in 2002 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNDoVFlRKMs).

Oh, my...Olympia will see 16-foot tides next week. Is the city ready after last year’s flooding? (https://amp.theolympian.com/news/weather-news/article272539947.html). :o

Page FIVE???
-
I don't think we've had a page FIVE for three months.
-
Naturally, George has gone down some fetid rabbit hole.
-
Well, since I just awoke from napping, there's time to rectify this HEINOUS situation and I suggest we rectify it.
-
Starting here, starting now.
-
I was so distraught over the possible flooding in town that I couldn't think of anything to post! :-\
-
Page six. We haven't had a page six in three months and let's not start now.
-
Naturally, George has gone down some fetid rabbit hole.
It was NOT some fetid rabbit hole...it was just a plain rabbit hole. ;D
-
Okay, I was going through videos on my phone and just lost track of time. ::)
-
One video was Brian Stokes Mitchell's live performance of Sondheim's The Flag Song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZrWgn1rUGs) at the Kennedy Center (not for the Kennedy Center Honors).
-
Rectification begin!
-
That's one of the songs that when I come across it, I have to listen to the whole thing. :)
-
Naturally, George has gone down some fetid rabbit hole.
It was NOT some fetid rabbit hole...it was just a plain rabbit hole. ;D
Never insult a man’s rabbit hole.

Presidents Day about to commence. Or Family Day for the Canadians.

What’s next? President’s Family Day?
-
A day to honor Pat Nixon and Billy Carter etc.

Why will the tides be so high?

George, Raul Esparza also does a great job with The Flag Song.
There are several videos on YouTube.

I should be asleep.

Have a good night, all. 😴

George, Raul Esparza also does a great job with The Flag Song.
There are several videos on YouTube.
I've seen his, too. He's good, but I'll confess that I prefer BSM's version.
-
Raul’s Flag: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cRO6dUhhMHA
-
I’ll confess I did not enjoy Assassins.
-
Always difficult to improve upon BSM.
I do love Raul’s voice though.
-
Rodzinski, which production did you see?
-
I did, however, enjoy Merrily We Roll Along with Raul at Kennedy Center.
-
I’ll confess I did not enjoy Assassins.
A local theater group did it back in the early 2000s.
-
I auditioned for it, but didn't get cast. ::)
-
Assassins was at Studio 54.
-
Or are you referring to the score?
-
I did, however, enjoy Merrily We Roll Along with Raul at Kennedy Center.
Cool! I have the audio of that. :)
-
I saw that production too.
-
I hated Mario Cantone in that so much I still hear his voice in my brain.
-
Raul performs Franklin Shephard Inc. really well in that production.
-
It’s on YouTube.
-
Suddenly… 7 pages.

Mario Cantone’s voice can be very irritating.

Very memorable! Yes!

Maybe I don't have the audio to that production. Was he Charles Kringas?
-
His character voice anyway. His regular speaking voice is pleasant enough.
-
I also love Raul’s Take Me To The World.
-
I have the audios to the 2002 Kennedy Center Sondheim Celebration where they did six shows in rep.
-
He played a guy who tried to hijack a plane and kill Nixon.
-
Sam Byck.

I have all 6 shows on videotape from that summer.

I have the audios to the 2002 Kennedy Center Sondheim Celebration where they did six shows in rep.
First-rate productions. Wish that that Merrily had been extended and come to Broadway.
-
Brian Stokes Mitchell is a very good Sweeney Todd.
-
The new production of Merrily opens on Broadway this fall.
Great cast!
-
He played a guy who tried to hijack a plane and kill Nixon.
Oh, in the revival of Assassins. That's right.

The world takes Stokes for granted.

I wish that they had (officially) recorded the Japanese production of Pacific Overtures.

My daughter saw Pacific Overtures in Yokohama several years ago.

Definitely.
