Well, you've read the notes, you are with it and happening, notes-wise, and, most importantly, you know that today is the day, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home and since today is the day, they are contemplating it.
-
I've read the notes but I haven't caught up with yesterday's posts. Last night, I ushered for a revue here in Olympia called "Dancin' in the Aisles: a Motor City Rock ’n’ Soul Celebration!" It's quite wonderful. I saw the final dress rehearsal and now it's a week before they close (they extended a whole week due to popular demand!). If you love Motown songs sung by a couple of incredible singers and several other very good singers, then this is right up your alley. ;D
-
And the word of the day is: QUINELLA!
-
In my CD player right this very moment is a special CD that I received from DR Tomovoz! Thank you very much!! :-* Very soonly, I'll be able to send you what I'm going to send you. I hope you enjoy it!
-
Good to know the mail has arrived safely DR George.

TOTD
Cds: Shirley Bassey "And I Love You So"
Buddy Holly "Reminiscing"
Sam Cooke "Keep Movin' On"
Paris Cast "Les Miserables" (1991)
DVD: "Stone Cold" (Tom Selleck). Truly dreadful movie.

Starting tomorrow afternoon, my supervisor is taking a week and a half of vacation. Our part of the end-of-the-month bill paying has to be done by next Wednesday. He won't be here to run several needed reports. :P I and my co-worker Madeline, have been shown how to do these reports and they're actually fairly easy, but since they deal with the reporting of REAL MONEY that the library has to pay, it just seems more daunting than it really is. And even if mistakes are made, it's not the end of the world. Most things can be fixed, even after the fact. ;D
-
Well, the cat box has been emptied, the garbage container taken out to the curb, the contact lenses have been removed from my eyes and a CD (for DR Tomovoz...one of several) has been burned. :) It's now time for sleep.
-
Hello from little Angoulême, France!
Hope you're all having fun without me!
Can't stay too long!
"See" you soon!
-
Hello surprise visitor François. you have email too.
-
Good morning all!
Thank goodness this week almost over! We've had heavy rain showers (and lots of lightning!) almost every afternoon/evening.
We had a false alarm fire drill yesterday. They **said** it was a faulty smoke detector. I have to say I must be getting used to the 22 floor stair walk. I'm not hurting at all this morning and I didn't have a night cramp either. :)
Well, I have to go for one more day fun, mirth and fire drills. NOT!
Have a wonderful day everyone!
Elmore, ICU. :)
-
Good morning, all! I am moving quite slowly today: it's been a long week, and I would kill for a day to myself. Maybe Sunday. Today's a trip to the recording office, and some work with Mr Tom Murray, who's busy himself with an upcoming production of WINESBURG, OHIO in Philadelphia and the Ravinia Festival's concert of ANYONE CAN WHISTLE.
DRJMK, so far the only good thing about joining CastRecL has been getting an email address for Max Preeo.
TOD:
CD: Phillip Chaffin's new CD, Jacques Brel collection, Mussorgsky's Songs & Dances of Death, Darling of the Day
DVD: Operas: I Puritani, Un Ballo in Maschera, Don Giovanni
VCR: Any guesses?
-
DRDanise, have a fantastic day! How's the weather?
-
Wet. Not raining right now but everything is soaked outside.
-
Just a FYI, DR Elmore, there is something in the mail for you. I sent it the day before yesterday so it should be there by the weekend.
You have a wonderful day as well.
Gotta make tracks for the bus.
Laters!

Ms. Fitzgerald was cloned five times. That's right, we have quin-Ella!
:-\ ;D

Today is Gummi Worm Day.

TOD:
VCR: Any guesses?
Bollywood Porn with a score by Victor Herbert?

DVD: The Nanny (1st season)
cd: One of the cds that feature the NYC Gay Men's Chorus and it has many songs arranged by our good friend Larry Moore. My favorite so far is Old Friend. (I love that song)
PS Not to be confused with Sondheim Old Friends which I only like.
-
Thanks again Larry for the wonderful laugh you gave me last night.
-
And how are things down under Mr. Tom of Oz
-
TOD: Nothing, nothing
Today is the big yard sale. I do not like big yard sales.
-
Media Check:
iPod: Ya know what? I haven't been listening to a darn thing all week. I think I'm a little burned out, musically speaking. I need to find a way to recharge my batteries.

Greetings all. (Or DtM, since you are the only one here.)
TOD:

DVD: Coming up on the final episodes of QAF, Season 2
CD (Car): COMPANY (OBC)
Office: Trusty AOL Radio ("You Were Meant for Me"/Gene Kelly)

BTW (By the way, in internet lingo):
DR Jennifer: Are you able to recall the relationships between the various teams on BB6? As they were going through them, there was a chryon crawl announcing severe weather, so I got to see the names of the pairs (and their faces, of course), but not the relationships.
-
DR Stuart, I will see if I can help with the BB6 question:
Kaysar and Michael: neighbors
Janelle and Ashlea: best friends
James and Sarah: dating
Beau and Ivette: former co-workers
all the rest, if I recall, are friends.
-
PS: am I the only one who things Kaysar is the most handsome man in BB history? He looks like a 1940s matinee idol.
-
Media check:
DVD: Eegah
CD: Club Nisei Encore (1940s Japanese-American big bands)
Punjabi Top 12 Hits

-
I'm up, I'm up.
Too much to do to sleep anymore. Must create invoices for store orders, so they can PAY us.
-
So anyway!
Such wonderful news about the CD's - and the shipping. Perhaps that testy person will be pleased to get his music - at last!
Friday -at last. More rain here today, thanks, DENNIS!
CD: Pippin, working on choreography and got tired of asking the director what the set was going to be like, so I designed it myself and we'll build it after we strike tomorrow night. Much easier doing choreography when you know what the set will be! ALSO listening to Giselle MacKenzie, First Lady of Canadian Song.
DVD: The Adventurers! MR BK wrote about this movie a couple of weeks ago. Back in high school - Harold Robbins was scandalous to own and read - and while I like THE CARPETBAGGERS book and movie more - this is pretty good. Lots of location filming and a very handsome international leading man....but 170 minutes! I am about 1/3 of the way through it.
VCR: SWOON.
-
PS: am I the only one who things Kaysar is the most handsome man in BB history? He looks like a 1940s matinee idol.
Hmmmmm....this is a difficult question to answer.
Hardy was the most handsome man in BB history, IMHO (In My Humble Opinion, in internet-speak).
BUT....
There are times where I agree with your basic assessment of Kaysar. There are other times, however, where he seems to have the most horrific unibrow. (Especially those times when he is wearing glasses of some sort.)
And I am assuming that your being smitten with him is not indirectly related to your penchant for John Abraham and other hunks of Bollywood and other foreign derivation. ;)
And where exactly do Kaysar and Michael live? West Hollywood? the Castro?
-
I got a nice long sleep that was much needed, but I wish I could go to bed and start all over again with sleep.
Surprisingly, I'm not sore at all this morning, but I remember (a Stephen Sondheim reference) that when I helped my friend eight months ago, the soreness didn't arrive until TWO days after I helped. So, we'll see if I get stiffer as the day progresses.
-
Friday Media Check:
CD - HAZEL FLAGG (OCR)
DVD - EAST OF EDEN
MONK - Season 2, Disc 3.
DVR - MRS. O'MALLEY AND MR. MALONE
ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND
THE GREEN HORNET
-
I haven't watched every season of BIG BROTHER so I can't offer an opinion of the handsomest, but I do remember Hardy from (?) Season 2. However, I grew less fond of him as a person as that season progressed so his looks sort of paled as I began to dislike the person he was becoming.
-
We have an overcast, sticky day here, but as long as I'm not unloading furniture, I don't care WHAT it's like outside!
-
Stage Door Canteen--yep, it's too long of a movie, but there are a lot of fun appearances: Gracie Fields, Helen Hayes, Xavier Cugat, Katherine Cornell (her only film!)
I kind of remember that the Hollywood USO film is more fun and looks better, too. Bette Davis sings "They're Either Too Young Or Too Old" and is just dandy.

No, you're remembering the wrong one, DR Dan. You're thinking about THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS where Davis sang "They're Either Too Young or Too Old" and Errol Flynn sang "That's What You Jolly Well Get" and Hattie McDaniel does "Ice Cold Katie." It's a great fun film.
But HOLLYWOOD CANTEEN, which Davis was in along with John Garfield, Joan Crawford, and many others, is a different film. "Don't Fence Me In" came from it.
-
I've got THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS on a laserdisc paired with IT'S A GREAT FEELING.
I only saw HOLLYWOOD CANTEEN once, I think. I don't think it gets run nearly as much.
-
DR Jennifer: Are you able to recall the relationships between the various teams on BB6? As they were going through them, there was a chryon crawl announcing severe weather, so I got to see the names of the pairs (and their faces, of course), but not the relationships.
Yes since I knew most of the pairings already it was pretty easy for me to follow:
1.Eric and Maggie. Friends (she works as an emergency room nurse and he is a firefighter.
2.Rachel and howie. Best friends (but they haven't seen each other in a few years).
3.beau and ivette. Friends (they are both gay apparently).
4.James and Sarah. Boyfriend and girlfriend.
5.Janelle and Ashlea. Former roomies and now best friends.
6.April and Jennifer. Sorority sisters.
7.Michael and Kaysar. Neighbors.
-
Elmore, Castrecl blows hot and cold. You can search the archives for the orchestration thread, though. It had some relatively intelligent discussion in it.
I splurged and got a new all-in-one printer/copier/scanner/faxer yesterday. All for $79.00!!! I remember my first printer about 10 or 15 years ago was close to $300.00. Why does everything else go up, but electronic items get cheaper? Can someone explain that to me, please?
Media: I'm listening to the Brasilian singer/songwriter Celso Fonseca, who sounds eerily like Caetano Veloso. We've been making our way through Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries on the DVD.
-
And yes DR MBarnum is right. I believe they said that Ivette and Beau used to work together.
I don't really find Kaysar that handsome. But I think I see what DR Stuart meant. Sometimes he can be sort of good looking. But sometimes he is a little weird looking. And I agree, I bet it's your Bollywood obcession sinking in! (although he's not indian). :)
-
MBarnum, I wasn't around much yesterday so maybe this was mentioned, but did you see that news report that some big Bollywood star has been arrested for being a terrorist? There was a thread about it on one of the Usenet film boards.
-
Re: The Adventurers. The movie is dreck, but the Antonio Carlos Jobim score is a classic, including the instrumental that he would later rework with a lovely lyric as his "other" late career biggie (along with Joey's discovery The Waters of March), Double Rainbow.

DR STuart (or any of the other BB watchers). Do you JUST watch the tv show, or do you follow it online also?
If you only do the former, let me recommend the canoe Jam site. It makes the show a 100 times more interesting.

Based on the numerous sightings of Race observers around America, it appears that at least one of the fears that The Amazing Race fans voiced when CBS first announced its plans for a "family edition" that included children has come true -- the eighth edition of worldwide reality adventure competition has been dumbed down (at least geographically.)

I tend to just watch the show. Very rarely will I check into the official CBS website. You have mentioned the CanoeJam site before, and I have enjoyed what I have read, but I don't have time to check it all the time (what with HHW, and actual WORK!) ;)
And thank you for the breakdown of the teams.

Back from Staples - got lots of packing supplies, and had my play Xeroxed.
-
MBarnum, I wasn't around much yesterday so maybe this was mentioned, but did you see that news report that some big Bollywood star has been arrested for being a terrorist? There was a thread about it on one of the Usenet film boards.
I just did a search and it is actor Sanjay Dutt who was accused of having links to terrorist activities in India...evidently this was back in the 1990s. His father is 1960s leading man Sunil Dutt (who just recently passed away) and 1950s actress Nargis.
He is a top Bollywood actor since the 1980s but has had his share of problems with drugs and booze.

No problem. The good thing about the CanoeJam site is that he is quite concise. Most of the other sites have logs of "live feeds" info. But at canoe he summarizes it. It doesn't take long to read at all. You'll be surprised how much more you enjoy the show if you read his stuff!
For example ALL the teams are starting to figure out that there are other secret teams. But if you just watch the show, you'd think nobody is really catching on!
Btw, did you hear Julie Chen mention something about how if the final 2 are a pair then the houseguests vote to say if they think they kept their secret.
Did anybody else hear that or am i going crazy?
-
No, I haven't seen that! What was his/her name???
Salman Khan: http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/DEL245619.htm

Did you find your mittens? 8)
No, but I had an excellent BM before leaving for work.
The drive was pleasant, I got a good parking space and the weather is beautiful.
I am off at Noon today. Just because.
No rushes, no worries, no hurries.
-
Thanks Ron, I figured out the one with terrorist ties (see my post above). The Salman Khan seems to be one with Indian Mafia ties....!
I don't care too much for him...and I never trust a guy who shaves their armpits!

...Here I come
And there I go...
Good Afternoon!
-If it's Friday, this must be Richmond.... No, NYC... No, Fairfax...
???
In any case...
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, I've been errant & truant, and truant & errant - but not necessarily in that order - the past 24 hours or so. I think.
In any case...
I'm back up in Fairfax. I retrieved my "box-o-important-stuff" from my storage unit in Richmond. That was good. What was not good was not finding my final Mamma Mia! waiting for me in my mailbox down there - the check that was mailed last Friday. And since I can't seem to get a hold of the contractor.... Grrrr...
In any case...
I have to run around up here in NoVa for the next couple of hours - preparations for the trip northward tomorrow morning! So...
Laters...
;)
-
No posts in an hour? SKAMMEN!
-
I'm beginning to get the feeling that CDs won't be ready until this afternoon - maybe even late this afternoon. When I called twenty minutes ago, they said they thought one title was "almost" finished, but, of course, I cannot just pick up one title. So, hoping they can finish everything by early afternoon, otherwise my shipping guy will have to get them when they're ready, pack everything up, but take it to the post office tomorrow. We shall see.
-
CD at home: The late Frances Langford
CD in car: Guy Haines: New Guy In Town
DVD: Four-hour Hercules

Thanks Ron, I figured out the one with terrorist ties (see my post above). The Salman Khan seems to be one with Indian Mafia ties....!

Maybe he started tweezing his eyebrows and couldn't stop?
Is that politically incorrect?
-
DVD: Four-hour Hercules
Is it released? When can I buy it?
-
CDs will be ready by three at the latest, possibly sooner. So, we're hoping to get quite a bit shipped today, and the rest shipped tomorrow.
-
I shall now be on my way to a long rehearsal. After which, I shall return.
-
Almost is a useless word, isn't it?

DR ELMORE has kindly refrained from giving his opinion of Miss Annette Funicello's go around at Mary in BABES IN TOYLAND.
I enjoyed the photos yesterday, DRELMORE!
-
Yes, Messalla, today is the day.
-
ROTFLMAO!
-
DR ELMORE has kindly refrained from giving his opinion of Miss Annette Funicello's go around at Mary in BABES IN TOYLAND.
I enjoyed the photos yesterday, DRELMORE!
The problem with the Disney film isn't Annette; it's how badly the Disney folk adapted an interesting property and ruined it. The original show is dark and gothic, with child abuse, murder, and an execution interspersed with vaudeville turns, a lot of dance music and some really bad jokes. The Laurel & Hardy film abandoned the original plot, cut 90% of the score, and I think it's great. The Disney film plods from one embarassing nadir to another. After all the obnoxious and spoiled kiddies I see all over the West Side, I long for a good comedy with a plot about killing children for their inheritance!
-
Today is Gummi Worm Day.
According to my Futurama calendar, today is also "St. Swithin's Day." Anyone have a clew as to what that is?? I didn't until I searched Google (http://www.google.com) and found THIS (http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/customs/stswithun.html) website and THIS (http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/14357c.htm) site and even THIS (http://www.dandantheweatherman.com/Bereklauw/swithin.html) site. ;D

Friday -at last. More rain here today, thanks, DENNIS!
Yes, JRand, 'ol Dennis seems to have parked himself right here in the midwest. Will he ever leave? It's thundering now, so I don't know how long I'll be able to stay online.

Friday media report:
CD (car) - L'il Abner OCR, 2 CD's from BeauSoliel
DVD - Connie and Carla, The Harvey Girls
VCR - Nothing
I took today and tomorrow as vacation days. Tomorrow I'll be in Columbus all day for AAUW, but today has been very relaxing. Had a nice breakfast at Panera with my Chicago traveling buddy, visited with my mom, did some banking, and have pre-baked 2 pizza crusts for our dinner. DH & DS will be very surprised to have Mom-made pizza tonight, instead of carry-out.
-
In my CD player at work:
Porgy and Bess with Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. After that will by Porgy and Bess with Cleo Laine and Ray Charles and finally, Porgy and Bess with Mel Tormé and cast. I just received this last recording yesterday from Amazon.com. It looks like it's the whole show!
After all of those (if I actually get to them all today) will be the new studio cast recording of Bright Lights, Big City with Patrick Wilson. I've listened to part of it and so far, I like it.
-
I long for a good comedy with a plot about killing children for their inheritance!
Perhaps you've heard of a little phenomenon called "Lemony Snicket"? ;D
I am really, really angry. We just received a form letter from our tax preparer (who has screwed up our last two years' returns, so we had already decided not to return to them)--they experienced a "burglary" (almost a month ago--letter came today) and all client records "may" have been compromised. As if that weren't bad enough, they sent the letter to Gabe, and in calling Equifax, none of the three big credit places allow you to place a fraud report on a minor. So now what the f--- am I supposed to do?
-
I like the St Swithin's Day speech in HENRY V!
Ah - true DRELMORE - Walt was the problem - and Mary McCarty and that damn duck puppet!
-
JMK I would use my savings to form a cosmetics company - the worst that could happen is that the lawyers could manipulate the portfolio.
-
I like the St Swithin's Day speech in HENRY V!
Isn't it St Crispin's Day?
-
Perhaps you've heard of a little phenomenon called "Lemony Snicket"? ;D
Well, maybe we can finally get a dark and funny BABES IN TOYLAND instead of all the kitsch that passes under the title since Max Liebman's version in the 1950s?
I'm sorry to hear what's happened to you, DRJMK. I'd get an attorney and sue their asses ASAP!
What's happened to Michael Shayne's Bruce Kimmel tribute and my site?

Do you and TPunk want to join me and DRJose tomorrow night?

TOD
Car - Been listening to "Inside the Magic" some podcasts that I downloaded onto my iPod from iTunes
Office - London Cast Recording of "Follies"
Nothing in the DVD player
There was something earlier on I was going to comment on, but I don't remember what it was, I'll have to go back and read the posts again.

I remember (oh, a Sondheim reference) now... The Paris cast of Les Miserables. It appears to be totally out of print as even Dress Circle doesn't have it. I'm on a hunt for it. I have it on "look out" on eBay and I've been looking around the 'net for it. Does anyone else have a place they get things like that from? (besides Footlight)
-
It's so weird to believe that Les Miserables is available in almost every language except French - unless you want the concept CD.
-
Hmmm...okay, I think that I may have only seen a clip of Davis doing TETYOTO and thinking it was part of Hollywood Canteen. I don't believe I ever saw Thank Your Lucky Stars. Is that one on DVD?
No, neither HOLLYWOOD CANTEEN nor THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS is on DVD, nor would I expect them for a long, long time. Warners has been great issuing some of their classic films, but I don't think there is too much clamor to have either of these films on DVD. Best keep an eye out for them on TCM.
-
Lunch ran long, and I didn't get any DVDs watched yet today. I did watch THE GREEN HORNET that was recorded this morning off Encore-Action.
-
Isn't it St Crispin's Day?
Yes, it is. :-[
I stand corrected.
-
Congratulations, DR RODZINSKI.
Employment news is ALWAYS good news!

Wrapping up my last day at this job. Yahoo!!!
And did they throw you a nice going-away party?
-
Well off to the salt mines for the final Friday performance of I'LL BE BACK BEFORE MIDNIGHT! 8)
Here is a photo showing the cast of four and crew, along with Sandi my assistant and me. Notice that the guys are much more into the killing than the smiling girls. In fact the two girls that Bryan the stage manager is strangling is just fulfilling a wish of mine.
I am the fat guy in the green hat - I have lost about 28 pounds, you shoulda seen me before! :P
-
And did they throw you a nice going-away party?
If it's like the places where I worked, all they said was:
Don't let the door hit you on the way out! ;D

Quoting DR JOSE who is Fairfax OR Richmond OR New York ....

-
Great photo, JRand! Thanks for sharing. One of my favorite jobs in community theatre was director's assistant, which I did for DR elmore several times.
-
And did they throw you a nice going-away party?
I had a great long-term temp job years ago at Oregon Health Sciences University. They had just bought one of the very first OCRs (optical character readers) and my job was literally to sit there and feed documents in page by page and then to make sure they came up relatively intact on the word processor (this was pre-PC days, ladies and gents). So I got to do a lot of reading for about 4 months. Anyway, this particular department used to have parties at least 2 or 3 times a week and I would always be invited. Of course when my temp assignment wound down, they had a big shindig to say goodbye to me. I asked my supervisor, "Didn't we just have a party yesterday?" To which she replied, "Oh, it can't have been that long ago!!" ;D
A great TOD some day might be weirdest/best temp job you've ever had. I bet I win. ;)
-
If it's like the places where I worked, all they said was:
Don't let the door hit you on the way out! ;D
One of my favorite saying is: "When you're being run out of town, get in front and make it look like a parade."
-
At least in the weirdest category. :)
-
I just read that Tony winner Cady Huffman is joining the cast of ONE LIFE TO LIVE replacing Kimberlin Brown as Dr. Paige Miller. Her episodes begin airing in August.
-
elmore, the four-hour Herc is not yet out. I just finally got one from Hallmark for my perusal.
Got my line-up in the mail today of the next Ray Courts show...Doesn't seem to be a stunning line-up except for a bunch of Bond girls. I wouldn't mind taking a gander at the lovely Caroline Munro (who is marked as only a tentative guest).

Not to brag, but I have it. ;) Searching eBay and Amazon.com's used CDs are the only place that I would know of to get out of print items. Good luck...unless you want a copy.

Good Afternoon!
...And my Word of the Day[/b] is PRODUCTIVE... Or it could be INDUSTRIOUS... either/or. In any case, it's been a good afternoon. I got a lot more done than I had originally planned - and thought I could have in the past couple of hours. I even fit in time to get my hair cut - so I can be freshly coiffed for my arrival in NYC tomorrow morning. -Those Chelsea Bois don't stand a chance now! -I wish. ;)
In any case...
Just two more things to take care of here, and then I can take a real break and catch up on the day...
Laters...
-
Of course you do, DR George - between all of us here, we probably have every cast recording in every language, on CD or record - known to man :)
-
...And I'm not sure if this was mentioned yesterday or earlier today...
Sad to hear of the passing of Michael Gibson, the orchestrator of many Kander & Ebb shows (among others). When I was up at Vassar, we had received word that he had just been put onto a machine - many people working up there were friends and co-workers of his. His work and his presence will be missed.
-
And how are things down under Mr. Tom of Oz
How personal/ lol
Fine DR Michael. I'd gone to bed after my previous post.

This week they began making the walkways:

Today they began digging the baptistry:
-
DR Stuart, I will see if I can help with the BB6 question:
Kaysar and Michael: neighbors
Janelle and Ashlea: best friends
James and Sarah: dating
Beau and Ivette: former co-workers
all the rest, if I recall, are friends.
No Siamese Twins Separated at Birth?
Dang, how boring these people must be!!!

My memory of Caroline Munro is THE GOLDEN VOYAGE OF SINBAD. Hubba-hubba!
-
One of my favorite saying is: "When you're being run out of town, get in front and make it look like a parade."
It may not explain the tar, but the feathers will make anyone look like a float.
-
Today they began digging the baptistry:
Look, perhaps
I'll collapse
In the bap-
Istry 'fore you all!
So take
Back the cake,
Burn the shoes
And boil the rice.

Previews of the Lion King start in Melbourne this week. OzDerek has just been offered free tickets - his reponse "I'm glad I'll be in Tasmania". He too was underwhelmed by the show.
-
We watched Emmy award nominee "Warm Springs" last night. We enjoyed it very much indeed. I knew nothing about FDR before his presdidency - very interesting.
-
Someone had to break the drought.
-
Had to share these pics from one of my newest Cd purchases:
-
And from inside the booklet:

And from the same CD!

TOTD: Today's listening is "The Ultimate Perry Como collection" It's the best collection of Como I have seen(and heard) - and an OZ issue!! 48 tracks - and all hits!
-
Perhaps this will be an hour of OZ only posts! Or only Oz posts.
-
Welcome to TOmovOZ His Way - the quietest site on the internet.

You've never seen the movie Sunrise At Copacabana?
-
Don't know of it all DtM. Not even Campobello.
I magine it would not have had a showing in OZ.
I just thought FDR was a friend Of Annie Warbucks.

All right, I'm gone ALLLLL afternoon, I break my back getting all the CDs ready to ship, and I come back to yet another slow news day here at haineshisway.com???? Very disheartening. After the Ball was ready at three, but Guy Haines wasn't, and they finally had to deliver it to me at five. We then addressed like crazy, but nothing went out today - the bulk of things will go out tomorrow, with international orders going on Monday. The After the Ball packaging is somewhat distressing, as all the booklets are slightly wrinkled at the spine where the staples are. Very shoddy, but I didn't even notice it until we'd packed up ninety percent of the stuff. I'll be having strong words with them on Monday. The Haines package is fine. I hope people won't be bothered by the wrinkling, but if it's really bothersome to anyone, I have all the extra booklets and tray cards, and whenever they next order, I can enclose a new booklet. As to the rest of the order - I may have them redo what's left.

Is nothing happening today?
We're trying to install a new widescreen TV and connect it to DVD recorder and video and sound syste. I wonder if Matt is busy.
-
Can someone please explain where dear reader Jane has been - haven't seen her around these parts in days.
-

No news is good news, as they say.
Do you really want to hear about the dogs yet again? Fletcher ate a whole package of raw ravioli. Big flash there.
Or we could discuss the release of Harry Potter Six.
-
Jane's last post was July 14. She's been here - but briefly.
-
I remember (oh, a Sondheim reference) now...
Try a record store in Montreal, Quebec. Perhaps HMV has it or one of the smaller stores.
-
Good news, dear BK!
Look forward to receiving my CD from the Kritzerland! Hope to have it by next weekend. :D
-
And is there a problem with the Bruce Kimmel website??? I don't seem to have a problem when I go on the online to check up on it!
-
Does Stage Door Canteen, which I’ve never seen before, similar to Is Paris Burning? That is also, I think, an all-star (in this film, most of all actors are Europeans) extravagant product, though I enjoyed it much.
-
I just think to email to DR JANE.
-
And
Your diet plan will be better for you, dear BK, I think, as it’d get you away from the stress of being on diet as well.
-
Okay:
For me the www.brucekimmel.com website works with internet explorer, but does not work with Mozilla Firefox. Will have to ask my web hoster why this is happening. Is anyone else having problems accessing the website on any other internet browser?
Would like the feedback on this please,
-
Shayne, if you go to brucekimmel.com all you get is a bunch of type - no images, just gobbledygook - it has been like that ever since you started making changes.
-
And oh yes. I got home around six o'clock and wrote about 18 pages for my new play. I still think I have a few more pages in me before I go to bed.
-
WARM SPRINGS was quite wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed it when I watched it.
-
No problems for me Michael.
-
I'm ok with Safari, DR Michael Shayne.

I would be glad to help you if I could, DR Tom. Sorry I can't pop next door and lend a hand. I'm there in spirit, and certainly if you have any questions you think I might be able to answer, e-mail me.

It works through safari. I must say I was confused by some of the new things. Much harder to find out where all the stuff about my different TV, movie, shows, etc. are. I think it was easier before. might want to make that clearer somehow - like on the icon that says click here for Bruce's bio, you might want to say that that's where you'll find all that info and then when they get there you should point them to the task bar at the top where all that stuff now resides.

I work for a library and our Harry Potter books have been processed and will be on their way to people tomorrow morning. The audiobooks (both cassettes and CDs) were processed today, but take a little longer. People who have requests (holds) for those will get them some time next week.
Our library ordered 120 copies of the book (as of this moment, there are 807 holds), six copies of the large print book (164 holds!), and 12 each of the cassettes (122 holds) and CDs (166 holds). Also, an additional 25 copies have been ordered from gift money, but we didn't get them at the same time (a Freaky Friday: The Musical reference). I called our book vendor and was told that we should get them next week after they received more books from the second printing! It's just been released and they're already into a second printing. A lot of people are going to be waiting for a long time!
-
Very easy to see why MRS. O'MALLEY AND MR, MALONE didn't make it as a mystery series. Marjorie Main and James Whitmore just weren't very compatible, and I really did not like Whitmore's Malone character at all.
Not great mystery writing either, and with the murders happening on a train, it could have been much more suspenseful; even for a mystery-comedy, it could have used some tension.

No one around here at HHW has been talking about the new HARRY POTTER much, so I just assumed there wasn't much interest. I'm sure the book stores are buzzing right about now with less than an hour to go before folks can walk out of the store with their copies.
-
I figured after reading AZKABAN and then seeing the movie that I'd just wait and see all the films first, and then I'd go back and read the books. I like the movie experience to be as fresh as possible.
-
I have avoided the shops today. Potter has been on sale for over three hours here. I guess this evening news will be showing all the costumed kids.
-
Another delightful MONK episode with John Turturro guesting as Monk's brother Ambrose. Last year, Turturro won a well deserved guest Emmy for his performance on MONK.
-
There have been daily features about POTTER in the daily newspaper for the last two weeks, so I'll enjoy reading about tonight's activities tomorrow and then be glad that it's over for another couple of years.
-
I'll probably buy the book the Potter book on Monday - a quick read and then pass it on to my nephew's three sons. They'll be waiting.
-
My friend Hal is a BIG Potter fan, and he's promised to load me all the books when I'm ready to read them. After THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, he was dying to tell me some of the things that happened, but I managed to keep him for revealing anything.
-
OK, eyes getting heavy, and that means time for some serious sleeping. I have some errands to run in the morning, but I should be on later.
Good night, all.
-
Maybe I'll drive by Bookstar later and see how many people are in line.
I listened to the Haines CD and it sounds very good indeed - I hadn't listened to it for over three weeks, just so I'd come to it with fresh ears. So far, there's nothing that bugs me, except for one track that's just a bit louder than the others - we decided it was okay because you can't really tell that much unless you're listening at ear-shattering levels like I do.
-
Oh, and my hunt for our third actor for the reading of my play is over. The actor I'd run into at the Bowl, and whom I thought would be right for this, read it today, loved it and his role, and has said yes to the reading. I'll reveal who it is in the notes, but for those who like to guess such things, he was a leading player in a Broadway musical of a few years ago, and is now, I believe, on a TV series.
-
Just making a quick appearance. My sister is getting married tomorrow so I am back home for that. Our internet at camp has been out all week.
I had a rough week at camp. My group was all 8th graders and six of them were from the same school and would not listen at all. The other four were pretty good for the most part and several of them even asked about applying to become junior staffers in a few years so the week wasn't a total bust for them. I was worried the 6 would ruin it for the other four. They all seemed happ even though we had to sit them down about once a day and tear into them about their behavior.
Glad to hear the Kritzerland releases are heading out, and that everyone is keeping busy. Off to do laundry!
-
And glad to hear you found your final actor BK! ;D

I agree with you DR MattH...with that cast I expected much better...I couldn't even finish it.

Just booked my flight to New York. I will be arriving at 9:34 AM on August 8th and leaving at 2:35 PM on August 12. I thought about how long I wanted to stay and decided to make it a little bit shorter than I had originally planned. I am very excited that Broadway in Byant Park is on the 11th!
-
Unfortunately I am not going to be able to attend an fringe festival shows though. Wish I had thought of tha before I booked.
-
I just spent a half-hour writing the fershluganah trivia question. It's quite endless and has given me a headache.
-
Sorry I haven't been around much this week. The artificial hip seems to be getting closer to finally giving up the ghost. The pain has been pretty bad this whole week. So, I am back on the Vicadin, again.
Two performances of 42nd STREET tomorrow, and a matinee on Sunday. Oh joy!
-
The warmest of hip hop thoughts to you DR TCB.

Totally sounds like Treat Williams to me!
