Well, you've read the notes, the notes were wonderfully wonderful and celebratory, and now it is time for you to post until the wonderfully wonderful celebratory cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TANTAMOUNT!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
So, I need to get up in about six hours or so because I agreed to drive my friend Margo's daughter to the airport. It's been snowing, and this is what it looks like right now:
-
Fortunately, my car is safe from the snow, being safely ensconced in my one-car garage. :)
-
And speaking of Monopoly (see BK's notes), PBS is streaming an episode of American Experience on the history of the game itself. It looks like it'll be available to watch until March 20 and it's called Ruthless: Monopoly's Secret History (https://www.pbs.org/video/ruthless-monopolys-secret-history-wnxglj/):
Monopoly is America’s favorite board game, a love letter to unbridled capitalism and our free market society. But behind the myth of the game’s creation is an untold tale of theft, obsession and corporate double-dealing.
-
On that page, there's also a link to watch a preview. I haven't watched it yet, but I do want to see it.
-
And now, I'm off to sleep, perchance to wake up in time. ;)
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night was a terrible night of sleep. I suspect I will drag my body around all day wishing I were back in bed.
-
Kevin McCarthy's decision to give access to those 40,000+ hours of video to Fucker Carlson of Fox News has me wondering how this McCarthy toadie has the right to do this without authorization.

Birthday cake!

A year ago today was my last radiation treatment. I send much admiration and affection to those wonderful folk who treated me at Lenox Hill Hospital.

A wonderful thing to celebrate.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
A happy milestone for DR elmore3003.

I want to get trashed.

Glad the celebratory dinner was festive. There's a lot to celebrate!

TOD: my guess about the new book is that it's about aliens who come to earth to abduct Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber and force him to create an extraterrestrial musical on Alpha-3867.
-
An exciting combination of flavors and textures.
Sounds intriguing.

Hasn’t this already happened?

How much s**w did you end up with, Singdaw?

Hi, Vixmom!
-
They were predicting 1.5 to 2 feet. I think we only got a foot. But with the winds, the drifts are wicked.
-
I’m going to be worthless by evening.
I think I've already acheived that before 7AM. But I'm an over-acheiver.
-
Or under-stimulated.

With a side of Texas Trash pie.
The whole pie on the side?

I’m thinking of adding dried cherries to the trash.

Just to trash it up a bit.

Another somewhat rocky night of sleep, but I'll survive.

Back to carrying the banner today, and then I must get back to working on Chicago and Addams.

A musical triptych.

sunny and 58 degrees here.

Sounds like MR BK & Co. had a nice party/celebration!
-
TOD:
Hmmmm.....we have been given many clues.......
I think the new book is about MR BK's travels around the country with his troupe in the late 1960's.

Tam Mutu is coming back to Encores! Great voice in The New Yorkers.

Best worst typo of the day so far: … you’re moving oversees …
-
Oy.
-
DR Singdaw, thanks for the interesting fact about the peace symbol.
-
DR Jeanne, I have been browsing other microwavable stuffed animal options without lavender. So far I think the Warmies are the cutest. I love stuffed animals and have a rather decent collection of them, though far fewer than I used to have.
-
From DR Jeanne:
What?! No big piece of meat?! You'll be eating like Jane and I in no time!

Have a good day, all!
Whew! I woke up in time, got out of my house about 5 minutes later than expected ::) and then crawled on the freeway because of something past my exit. :P
-
We got to the airport at about 8:10, but her flight didn't leave until 10:30 or so, so we got there in plenty of time!
-
Kevin McCarthy's decision to give access to those 40,000+ hours of video to Fucker Carlson of Fox News has me wondering how this McCarthy toadie has the right to do this without authorization.
Very good question...and why only Fox?
-
That is a rhetorical question. He gave exclusive access to them. >:(

Happy Anniversary, Larry!

And to celebrate my radiation anniversary, Indiana University just paid me my first instalment!

We stayed home today due to the ice under the snow.
-
I am restless. I need to walk, if not here than at the gym.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep, maybe - very rough night, very obnoxious dreams, but just announced the new CD so go grab it.
-
And the new Kritzerland release is NOW the final in the Ben Bagley series and it's great - Vernon Duke Revisited Volume III, with Dorothy Loudon, Tammy Grimes, Kaye Ballard, Ann Hampton Callaway, Mary Cleere Haran, and lots of other good folks. Wonderful gems in this volume by a wonderful composer working with top lyricists, you know, people like Ira Gershwin, E.Y. Harburg,Howard Dietz, John Latouche and more. You can hear audio samples, read more about it and order at http://kritzerland.com/vernon_duke_3.htm
-
What's this about "final" in the series? I was holding out for Kenward Elmslie Visited on Kritzerland!
-
CD ordered!
-
Good news from DR ELMORE - glad he has finally gotten into something steady like show business.
-
Many network reruns tonight.
-
DEAD people get more mail at my house than I do.
-
After my fillet o'fish fiasco from McDonald's, I've been craving a good fish sandwich. Tonight, Cafe82, around the corner at Broadway and 82nd Street, delivered the goods: two fried fillets of sole with lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce on a hamburger bun. Heavenly!

I was wondering about that one, too. Not that I'm ungrateful for all the rest of the series.

The Kenward Elmlie album rights reverted back to Kenward. However, I am trying to find a letter I have from him giving us the rights to include some stuff from it on our Grass Harp album - I'll see how it's worded.

CD ordered!
Ditto!!

A friend's wife used to design his website. I thought he was still with us, but see he passed last June. Crazy that he and Ned Rorem both died last year. Anyways, very cool that you've put out all the Painted Smiles material you could.
-
Oh, and London's How to Succeed and Cole Porter V have arrived in Tumwater!
And in the Constitution State.
-
I have been reading about the mess in Portland due to the snow. We had less snow in our neighborhood.
-
As restless as I was staying home today, I am glad I could stay home.
-
I did enough driving in weather like yesterday when we lived in Michigan.
-
No snow. Sunny. But crazy wind from last night continuing now.
-
I have a very early appointment tomorrow morning.
-
I think the roads will be clear enough that I can get there.
-
Excited about the new Kritzerland release.
-
Struggling to get to a page turn.
-
But it ain't easy, sometimes.
-
Coming up with something to say.
-
I've nothing to say.
-
Well, nothing that's not been said.
-
A little Sondheim reference.
-
Five!
-
Good night, friends.
-
I think the roads will be clear enough that I can get there.

Page 5?
-
It’s after 7:00 pm!!
-
This is not good.
-
BK will not be a happy camper.
-
Nor will he be a campy happer!
-
Whatever that means.
-
We do have snow on the ground.
-
But the big news is the cold temperatures.
-
Seattle is going to drop into the low twenties (22 degrees) tonight.
-
And we are expecting to drop into the teens.
-
So, I have been practicing the Jerk and the Hullabaloo and whatever dances I can remember from my teens
-
There was also, THE GATOR!!
-
The only dance banned from all Tacoma high school dances.
-
I will not demonstrate that dance because it requires getting down on the ground.
-
And I am afraid I would soon be crying, “I’ve fallen, and I can’t get up!”
-
And it would probably be telling the truth.
-
This wheelchair is getting to be uncomfortable, so, I think I will stop rambling and go to bed.
-
Goodnight, my friends!
-
Good night, Tom. Great to see you.
-
Watching Brokenwood Mysteries. Fun story.
-
JB was in a playful mood. He attacked a slipper and was swinging around on it.
-
Fun night of dancing. De-stressed a bit.
-
But let’s get of this page.
-
Six is the Twix.
-
Maybe a prolix.
-
Maybe for hicks.
-

-
Pick up chopsticks.
-
Serve a double helix.
-
The opposite of shelix.
-
Or the nonbinary theylix.
-
It’s still 65 degrees outside.
-
Not to brag or anything, but it's 28°F here in Tumwater right now, and the temperature is falling.
-
It's supposed to get down to 21°F by 3:00 a.m.! :o
-
And the sky is perfectly clear!
-
To quote John Bucchino:
Not a single f*cking cloud in the sky.
-
;)
-
You enjoy that, George.
-
Keep it near you.
-
This singer, Tami Nielson, was in a Brokenwood episode tonight. Her voice is amazing.

This happened to my childhood friend’s mom. Rehab was happy to keep her indefinitely. She became very unhappy. Her husband eventually decided to break her out.

ID theft update: So I got my police report, now I have all the stuff I need to send to prove I didn’t rent an apt in North Carolina. Yet I feel skeeved out about sending all this personal info to some collection agency. Doesn’t feel right.
