Well, you've read the notes, the notes had the breaking of the breaking bombshell news, and now it is time for you to post until the breaking bombshell cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: YEARN!
-
Notes espied. Celebrated.
-
BK, does this mean Amazon has it exclusively? Or are you still also using other avenues you’d looked into?
-
DR Jrand, thank you for sharing the photo.
-
Tha KS George.
-
Thank you John.
-
I enjoyed the beautiful photo from DR Rodzinski.
-
DR Jeanne, I am not in my cabin to look, however, I believe it is the milk chocolate squares. It just says Zero Chocolate.

Good morning, friends.
-
I have only one burning question currently:
-
WHAT are broasted potatoes?
-
And WHERE can I get some?
-
STAT!
-
Count me as all in favor of a private preview screening of Episode 1 of Sami.

~~~CONTINUED ANOTHER MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES, XYLOPHONES, & GLOCKENSPIELS~~~ for the likes of BK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good morning, all!
-
I slept very well last night.
-
My neighbor Ann stopped by last night for a visit and to pick uo their mail. They returned from Italy on Monday night, and Jen is still testing positive. She sad they originally were booked for a Saturday return, and it cost $500 to change flights. I think it's outrageous howe the airlines gouge customers to rebook flights.
-
Today I will finish up the bathroom cleanup aqnd get back to the ballet.
-
Tonight, after an eight hour tour, that could have been six hours as far as we were concerned, we had an early dinner of pizza and veggies.
-
We are relaxing in our cabin and watching TV.
-
Our cabin is the best place for me as we are headed into a storm,
-
Keith got up and commented that we are really rocking here.
-
Yup.
-
Good morning, all.
Another wave of thunder just rolled by. There’s a possibility of that continuing all day.
I’ve now read Preview Harvey three times and I’ve enjoyed it for different reasons each time. The last, formatted and visually like it will be in print, made me remember the real thrill of being in a movie theater full of people who’d gathered to watch a movie.
In this covid era, I realize I’ve been twice to the movies, West Side Story and She Said. Both times, I was alone in the theater. Not like it used to be.
-
Both movies were financial flops, which also tells me that what I want to see is out of step with what’s popular these days.
Reading the movies discussed in Preview Harvey — titles like Charade, Chinatown and Breakfast at Tiffany’s — also remind me that movies used to be about people, not superpowers and CGI.
-
You have a treat to look forward to.
-
Good morning!
Good morning, all.
I'm back carrying the banner today, then we have two weeks off from that.
Umm.. Yes, please?
Get thee behind me, Satan.
What DR John G. said about the book.
It's a wonderful evocation of the golden age of moviegoing for people in our general age bracket. Our parents and grandparents would call much earlier times their golden age. But this was it, baby. Hollywood was at its peak turning out its finest, as a rule, and as our hero discovers, even the less than finest product was worthwhile in some way.
-
It also documents the culture of moviegoing - especially for those living in L.A., but this really applies everywhere - in which movies - good movies - were part of the national dialogue. You could say that today's "product" is still that, for today's young people, but it isn't the same thing at all.
-
Eureka! The bathroom is mopped, and as soon as the floor dries, mI can put it back together. I also mopped the kitchen floor, and I am very glad this nightmare is behind me. Onto the next nightmare!
-
I have been told that my first moviegoing experience was when I was a babe in arms. I was less than 1 year old. I can’t remember if Mom said 6 weeks or 6 months. But I guess I felt at home because I behaved the whole way through. The movie was Lady and the Tramp.
-
Speaking of you mom... how's she doing, DR John G.?
-
THREE.
-
She is doing okay. My sister Linda just visited her to do her taxes. She was pleased with that.
-
I think she gets a whopping $21 tax return.
-
It’s raining like crazy, so, of course, this beauty would open today. The aroma is amazing.
-
That is lovely.
So since Forum contains scenes with Hysterium dressed as a woman, will it now be illegal to perform the show in some states?
-
I am working with a family that has three children; each of whose names starts with "Max..."
The mind boggles.
-
I would name their next son Maximum.
-
So since Forum contains scenes with Hysterium dressed as a woman, will it now be illegal to perform the show in some states?
So many shows would be affected, from Rocky Horror to Kinky Boots to South Pacific to Sugar.
Thanks DR JEANNE I shall try that mouthwash on the teeth I have left.
Glad to hear DR ELMORE is getting things back in order.
I got no mail again today.
I guess that's what happens when you start paying your bills electronically.
Cloudy today - but no rain so far!
My new CD player is supposed to arrive by April 8 - and so we wait.
Well Miss Lynch has been replaced....we have a new Miss Lynch....but the total remains 46.
I really doubt that my cousin will have any "character" discussions with her cast. Every show for her is a dance recital and that's really all she cares about.
My guess is at least 20 of the participants come from her dance studio....and will give us the best 1950's hip hop we have seen in the county.
-
Not to mention their HAND-JIVE.
It will rival Tiler Peck's!!
Good news (in the long term) for you allergy sufferers.
I just read that scientists from UCLA have successfully tested an mRNA medicine to reduce and/or stop peanut allergies in mice, and that the treatment shows promise for treating allergies to other foods and drugs, as well as autoimmune conditions. Clinical trials are expected within three years.
Chas, I wouldn't look forward to a deep scaling, either. But there's a way to avoid this sort of thing in the future. May I present...Closys mouthwash! I used to collect a lot of tartar, even with the requisite trips to the dentist, and was developing deep pockets. (Not the good kind, either.) Two weeks after trying Closys I had another exam and everything had cleared up! I was amazed! Others I know who've tried it had similar experiences and thank me for telling them about it. Available at some drug stores and also at Amazon. There's a toothpaste, too, but I only use the Closys mouthwash.
Believe it or not, I found I didn't mind the procedure, in spite of it sounding ghastly. Being totally numbed, I could tell she was scraping down deep like a sumbitch, but I never felt a thing. Even more surprising, not after any of the four sessions did I feel any soreness or sensitivity whatever after the numbness had worn off. It was kind of a breeze, as absurd as that sounds.
Twelve years ago was when I had it before, and she was doing it in quadrants, one section of the mouth at a time, each a week apart. Now they're doing it in just two sessions, one complete side and then the other. So, other than the pain it will do to my wallet, I don't view it with any particular dread.
-
I wish I knew what my first movie was. My very best guess is that a rerelease of SNOW WHITE was one of the first, and perhaps the first. There's just something about that teeny tiny memory that tells me it might have been my first time in a movie theeder. It would have been in downtown Columbus, and if the damned Columbus Dispatch ever joins newspapers.com or I can get to their listings some other way, I'll figure it out.
But which T-Bird do you think has the worst relationship with his parents? And do you think Danny has a learning disability that would today require an individualized educational program?
DR VIXMOM did I miss the promised food lineup for the Easter dindin?
My brother was asking.
-
TOD:
Around the time that The Normal Heart was playing in NYC, there was another AIDS related play titled AS IS that was playing.
We did the Indianapolis premiere of AS IS at the Phoenix Theatre.....I played three or four different roles. It was a good play.
I think my favorite film about the subject is PARTING GLANCES. Its wonderfully moving ending was usurped recently by a new play on Broadway - whose title escapes me for a moment.
I guess I first heard about what was happening in the summer of 1983 - but little was known. It was very scary that a "plague" could happen in such modern times.....and folks certainly betrayed their strongest feelings during those times - in the next few years.
-
TOD:
Two works that have been said to deal with AIDS indirectly are The Ghosts of Versailles and Into the Woods.
Two that deal with it directly are Jeffrey and Falsettos.
-
My first movie memory is at an LA drive-in theater watching Snow White, and cowering behind the back seat whenever the wicked witch appeared.
-
I am also keenly interested in the menu for DR vixmom's Easter spread.
My friend John Bolger was one of the leads in Parting Glances. It's a good film.
I expect there will be a panoply of desserts.
-
A cavalcade, as it were.
-
Eggs are a hallmark of Easter fare. But what if the eggs are deviled?
-
What then?
-
I ask you.
-
I have not seen The Normal Heart film adaptation but I thought the original stage production at the Public Theatre was a powerful kick in the gut. I used to see Larry Kramer at The Drama Book Shop. I was very fond of him.
I also saw the original stage productions of Angels in America, Jeffrey and As Is; I liked them both. I detest Falsettos, which I call "AIDS for Dummies." I find it very condescending and aimed for the minds of tight-assed people who think they're liberal.
Movies? Parting Glances and Longtime Companion, which had several friends in the cast. I have never seen Philadelphia.
Been fascinated by the Clarence Thomas stories today.
I was oblivious when rumors of the plague began. I completely missed the 1981 New York Times article that announced there was a new disease in the gay community. But, suddenly rumors and whispers among the members of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus about members who stopped coming to rehearsal turned into a litany of men in hospital or hospice. My friend Bill Tynes, who produced the New Amsterdam Theatre Company, was hospitalized; the boyfriend of my friend Michael, who hung my window blinds, died, and Michael told, "It's gonna get me." And it did. My friend Stuart White, who directed the Circle Rep Theatre Lab, died, followed by his companion Clifford Stone, who wrote the wonderful The Great Sunflower. Then, around 1983, it exploded. Chorus members began droppingin larger numbers, friends vanished, and you later heard they had either moved home to die or had left NYC in hopes of escaping it. I was at a rehearsal talking to Elaine Stritch one day and she whispered that she had been to some hospital to see Larry Kert. Every time there was an obituary for an actor, composer, writer, dancer that mentioned the cause of death as brain tumor, cancer, whatever, the first question was AIDS, right?
Every week, I swear, the Men's Chorus sang at a memorial for a dead member, chorus supporter, friend, or a stranger who asked them to sing for a loved one's memorial. I visited Joe Cantlin in a hospital room where he lay dying with piles of dirty sheets littering the room becaujse the workers were afraid tp touch anything. Another friend who was there and I stripped him naked, changed his dirty sheets, bathed him, and dressed him in new bedclothes. He died three days later. It was a helluva time to live through.
I hope this is the end of his career.
A scary time. DR elmore3003's memories have brought it all back.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
As Singdaw just said, a scary time.
-
On This Day in 1980, 3M began selling Post-It Notes.
-
Hello, DR Jeanne.
-
Did your tax document arrive yet? That is crazy-making.
-
I recall going to a doctor sometime during the 1980s to try to ge to the bottom of my health issues. He said to me, "Your hair looks awfully thick. Is it your own?" I replied yes, but he pulled it hard just to make sure. I asked if AIDS was still just in the target groups. Yes, just those groups. There was a lot of concern outside the gay community because we didn't seem to have a handle on what it was or how far it would spread. Lots of people were wondering if it'd get them.
-
I don’t know if I would keep a doctor who pulled my hair.
-
Hi, Sing. No sign of the tax document, but the new credit card arrived today. What I find so disturbing is that it's very easy to not realize that something is missing. I've been keeping an eye out for these two, but what else might be out there of mine?
-
Maybe my big lottery win. Ha!
-
;D
-
BK mentioned Terry Reiley. I loved Terry. He was like a big (he was a big guy) teddy bear. I was so saddened when Bruce told me he'd passed away.
-
Bruce, haven't you forgotten the Santangelo sisters? Didn't they go to NY as well? Violet and Melody Santangelo. Wow! So much talent went through Bluth Brothers Theatre during the few years it was around.
-
I don’t know if I would keep a doctor who pulled my hair.
I was not amused. And I did not keep him.
-
Hi, John G.
-
DR Jeanne, now that you've got your new credit card, you can charge up a wig if you want to. 8)
-
Not that you need one.
It's good to know that it doesn't have to be uncomfortable. Mine was not a breeze, but it wasn't helped by a hygienist who had a "We're the experts, you're the know-nothings" attitude. And, yes, it was expensive.
-
DR Jeanne, now that you've got your new credit card, you can charge up a wig if you want to. 8)
Yes, I can charge all sorts of things. But, actually, these days there's very little I want. My needs are modest.
-
Now I must be off to see the podiatrist.
TTFN.
-
Oh, John G, I really enjoyed s2 of THE LARKINS. I'll probably watch it again.
-
Good news from DR JEANNE about her credit card!
-
Oh, I forgot LONGTIME COMPANION.
I was also the AD for the Indy and maybe Midwest premiere of JEFFREY. It was rehearsing when Greg Louganis' autobiography was out. He was in Indy for a signing, so I sent my copy with a friend for signing.
The line was too long and his handlers went along getting addresses of the folks who were too far back. A few weeks later, I got a nice bookplate with his signature, which I of course put into the book.
-
As DR ELMORE wrote......
Most of the friends I lost were in the theatre community. And when someone got sick....it was the first thing on your mind. Or you would see someone you hadn't seen for a few months....and they had "the look"....and you knew.
It's fine if someone wants to write about it - but I think you had to be there. You had to experience the feelings and the way people would look at you or treat you differently....the feelings when someone "got it." Because a diagnosis then was a death sentence. When we were doing AS IS we all talked to a doctor and he said usually the time between diagnosis and death was about 13 months.
We also talked to some patients....it was heart breaking.
-
To write about it with truth you had to be there - if you write about it as history, you're already one step removed.
-
Remember that guy singdaw who used to post here?
-
Neither do I.
-
HA!
-
What would I do without DR singdaw's posts?
I don't want to find out.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight and a half hours of sleep.
-
My Darling Daughter's first movie was a reissue of Lady and The Tramp at a drive-in in She was one and three quarter years old. December 1971.
-
Jeanne, I'm not sure Melody Santangelo went to NY. Vi did and became Laura Kenyon - she was in Nine.
-
Good news to share: At the New York International Film Awards - Sami has won Best Web Series, Best Actress of the entire awards was Sami Staitman for Sami, and Best Song was Here in Sweden from episode one (the only episode we could send), although it has Sami's name on the thing they sent us so we're asking them to fix that.
In the other awards thing, the ONIROS film festival we got the Grand Jury Prize for Best Web Series.
-
Mostly good news today, save for the obnoxious text this morning.
-
There's a beside scene at the end of Longtime Companion where I've never been able to hear the whispered dialogue. I found that in the theater and on the home releases as well. Perhaps I should turn on closed-captioning.
-
That is truly amazing and wonderful news, BK.
CONGRATULATIONS to you, to Sami, and to the entire cast and company.
-
You certainly have given your publicist a lot to work with.
-
As if the Cindy Williams angle wasn't enough.
-
That is just so darned great.
-
Was the publicist helpful in devising a submission strategy for all the festivals? That must be daunting.
-
You wish to go to the Festival?
The KING'S Festival?
-
Boy, that is one heap of good news. Congrats to BK and Co.!
-
And that was one hell of a remembrance of those early dark times, DR Elmore. Whew.
-
So that's it till tech week, two weeks from Monday. The school's on vacation next week and - I forget what the music dept. is doing - but there will be no banner carrying until Monday the 24th. Mark your calendars.
-
For some strange reason, they not only had to hire the two keyboardists and the guitarist this year, but a drummer and substitute drummer as well. And none of those other people could join until tech week. That's normal anywhere, of course, but not in a school with a student orchestra. So the kids have had no rhythm section except for me sitting in playing the keyboard 1 book. That's certainly helped them, since the piano plays just about all the time. But it will be a whole different world having everyone there.
But which T-Bird do you think has the worst relationship with his parents? And do you think Danny has a learning disability that would today require an individualized educational program?
:))
I am pretty sure that my first movie was a reissue of Abbot & Costello Meet Frankenstein.
I must have been three or four years old.
My parents, my brother, and I walked (or were carried) to the Ritz Theatre in Mooresville to see the fun. I do remember that my brother Mike and I laughed all through the film.....and we laughed all the way home.
I was oblivious when rumors of the plague began. I completely missed the 1981 New York Times article that announced there was a new disease in the gay community. But, suddenly rumors and whispers among the members of the New York City Gay Men's Chorus about members who stopped coming to rehearsal turned into a litany of men in hospital or hospice. My friend Bill Tynes, who produced the New Amsterdam Theatre Company, was hospitalized; the boyfriend of my friend Michael, who hung my window blinds, died, and Michael told, "It's gonna get me." And it did. My friend Stuart White, who directed the Circle Rep Theatre Lab, died, followed by his companion Clifford Stone, who wrote the wonderful The Great Sunflower. Then, around 1983, it exploded. Chorus members began droppingin larger numbers, friends vanished, and you later heard they had either moved home to die or had left NYC in hopes of escaping it. I was at a rehearsal talking to Elaine Stritch one day and she whispered that she had been to some hospital to see Larry Kert. Every time there was an obituary for an actor, composer, writer, dancer that mentioned the cause of death as brain tumor, cancer, whatever, the first question was AIDS, right?
Every week, I swear, the Men's Chorus sang at a memorial for a dead member, chorus supporter, friend, or a stranger who asked them to sing for a loved one's memorial. I visited Joe Cantlin in a hospital room where he lay dying with piles of dirty sheets littering the room becaujse the workers were afraid tp touch anything. Another friend who was there and I stripped him naked, changed his dirty sheets, bathed him, and dressed him in new bedclothes. He died three days later. It was a helluva time to live through.
A scary time. DR elmore3003's memories have brought it all back.
I know. I only know one person who died of AIDS, and he died just last year. We knew each other for more than 30 years, and he was HIV positive when we met. He lived through a lot.
-
My Darling Daughter's first movie was a reissue of Lady and The Tramp at a drive-in in She was one and three quarter years old. December 1971.
Cool.
Well Miss Lynch has been replaced....we have a new Miss Lynch....but the total remains 46.
We should do this with every show. Especially the ones with character types. I really want Reno Sweeney’s backstory. When she says she’s benn through the brimstone and she’s been through the fire, what happened? Was she a devil worshipper or merely a fallen girl who had to sell her hair and then her body? Inquiring minds want to know.
Good news to share: At the New York International Film Awards - Sami has won Best Web Series, Best Actress of the entire awards was Sami Staitman for Sami, and Best Song was Here in Sweden from episode one (the only episode we could send), although it has Sami's name on the thing they sent us so we're asking them to fix that.
In the other awards thing, the ONIROS film festival we got the Grand Jury Prize for Best Web Series.
That's fantastic, BK!! Congrats to you and everyone involved!! ;D
Wow! Congratulations!
-
Jeanne, I'm not sure Melody Santangelo went to NY. Vi did and became Laura Kenyon - she was in Nine.
And Ben Bagley records.
-
Fantastic news, BK! April 23 can't arrive soon enough.
-
London-based Kim Criswell arrived around 4:00 and departed 2 hours later. We laughed, cried a little over a dying friend, and dished like mad. While she was here Donna McKechnie called and they set up a meet tomorrow. Donna asked about my cats, and Annabelle, who wants to play Grizabella some day, was in awe of Miss Ki9m, who played Grizabella in the tour of CATS.
-
So the kids have had no rhythm section except for me
That's OK, DR ChasSmith. You've got enough rhythm for all of us.
-
DR ELMORE you have the BEST guests!
-
These in-your-head stage directors remind me that I always said my college courses on Shakespeare should have been called: "Shakespeare as a Jumping-Off Point for Arcane, Esoteric Discussions."
-
Kim Criswell's Annie Oakley is well regarded here in the hinterlands.
-
I know this is probably sacrilege - but the previews of that Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston comedy sort of make me want to see it.
They both are so personable....not that I like them in everything.
But the Aniston movie about the dog....well......there you are!
-
I wonder how much fan mail Betty Buckley receives on a regular basis from a certain West 82nd Street hopeful.
-
So, DR Jrand72, you're saying that the Anniston movie about a dog was... ...a dog?
-
DR ChasSmith was too modest to announce PAGE EIGHT.
-
But he does get the credit.
-
Oh, yes, indeed.
-
Attention must be paid.
-
Oh yes, we're chugging along, mmmm....
-
And that's called writing a song, mmmm......
-
Disgusted by Clarence Thomas.
-
Disgusted by what's going on in the Tennessee House right now.
:)
-
Wow! Bruce, that's amazing! I didn't expect the festivals to be so soon.
CONGRATULATIONS to BK, Sami, and all involved!
-
Disgusted by Clarence Thomas.
But so good to get the dirt out in the open.
-
It’s raining like crazy, so, of course, this beauty would open today. The aroma is amazing.
That's really nice, John!
Yes, couldn't be nicer.
Fantastic Festival News!
I'm listening to an LP of new-age jazz flautist Paul Horn playing over arrangements by Lalo Schifrin.
That's amazing. Amazing that you only lost one friend and amazing that he lived so long while positive.
RIP to all we've lost to AIDS.
Exactly!
TTFN.
Being pretty young, I learned mostly through news coverage, such as it was. And Donahue, things like that. I do remember during my teenage summer job, building swimming pools, we stopped at one nice house in Atlanta where my boss opened up a guy's pool each year when the weather warmed up. I think my boss was aware the guy had AIDS, and while I was doing some work outside, he went in to settle up payment, and when he came out and it was time to go, he said, sadly, "I don't think we'll be back here next year. This guy does not have long." That made it real.
-
We've got a page eight vibe going on.
-
I'm in a page eight state of mind.
-
Or perhaps
I'll collapse.
-
Tonight.
-
At Eight.
-
But before I get too comfy
On this page eight lounge
-
I'll have to make room for
-
PAGE NINE.
-
Who is a welcome visitor.
But opportunity is not a lengthy visitor.
I hear tell.
Here it is: Thursday night.
Weekend eve is almost upon us.
Doesn’t he?
Jeanne, I'm not sure Melody Santangelo went to NY. Vi did and became Laura Kenyon - she was in Nine.
Really? You're familiar with her? Bruce told me her stage name, but I'd forgotten it.
Yeah. Great voice. I saw her in Nine. She has the patter counterpoint to Folies Bergere.
-
She’s on Unpublished Cole Porter, ska Cole Porter Revisited Vol. 2, and sings s couple of favorites, At Last in Your Arms and When Love Comes to Call.
-
Started Babylon and had to turn it off 30 seconds in. The first title card says Bel Air, CA 192- (can’t remember the year). Two-letter state abbreviations came into use in 1963. If your first encounter with a movie like this is an anachronism, what’s the rest of its three hours going to be like?
-
I got MINE on sale at Loehmann's. You?
-
I don't know why I'm up so late (for me).
-
I'm not functional.
-
You may not be able to tell the difference, however.
-
Do you prefer borsch hot or cold, DR John G.?
-
I have some jarred. Not sure whether to chill it or heat it up.
-
Not for tonight, you understand.
-
Perhaps I'll stop tomorrow and get some sour cream.
-
Seen on the Internet:
The deer wasn’t too happy to surrender his horns for my outfit. Then he saw that photo and died of embarrassment.
-
Eligible isn’t Pride and Prejudice. It’s not even up to the level of the musical, First Impressions.
-
I’m glad Annabelle was able to get with Kim. I hope it leads to that role as Grizabella.
Ten!
Just read a story on the new Camelot. Sounds like George’s Sunday in the Park with psychobabble.
Just read a story on the new Camelot. Sounds like George’s Sunday in the Park with psychobabble.
I've only read a little about it.
-
The only thing I'm really looking forward to about it is the cast recording.
-
They've got some good singers, so they can't screw that up, too much...I hope. ;)
-
I just had a Costco hot dog.
-
...at Costco. :)
-
It was quite delish...as usual.
-
And I only came out here to get the hot dog.
-
I had no other reason, but I didn't care.
-
I just wanted the Costco hot dog.
-
And now, I'm heading back home.
The only thing I'm really looking forward to about it is the cast recording.
Which the story called a soundtrack.
-
I love me a Costco hotdog. Especially if I can get kraut with it.
I tried to buy tickets to Des Moines using my miles on American Airlines. I can never get an airline website to work with regards to points, and this time was no exception. So, I called. I was told that the next rep would be available in 2.75 hours to 3.5 hours. Did I want a call at that time? No.
I was able to schedule a call at 10 a.m. I hope they call.
-
DR VIXMOM did I miss the promised food lineup for the Easter dindin?
My brother was asking.
I usually make mushrooms in sherry sauce because my brother loves them but so far all the stores have really miserable past their best mushrooms available
Nice photos of DR Jane and DH Keith!
Thank you.
She is doing okay. My sister Linda just visited her to do her taxes. She was pleased with that.
Good.
LOL, however, it was the lunch that convinced us.
And I made a special trip there as well since they usually have beautiful white ones reasonably priced to boot
Do you prefer borsch hot or cold, DR John G.?
That reminds me I don’t think I told you about my Monday in New York with Kerry
You are welcome DR JANE-san
In this case, I think it’s shin-toe, both of which would be in pain after climbing those steps.
;D
We met with some friends and had breakfast at a lovely place downtown called Flippers.
It’s time for bed.
They make the most amazing soufflé pancakes
Good night, all.
No groaning at HHW
Yum. I hope I dream of those.
-
I had the fresh fruit version with homemade maple cream topping
-
And brown sugar milk with boba
-
One friend then had to leave for a meeting
-
The four of us left then wandered about randomly stopping to check out stores we found interesting
-
We eventually made our way to Union Square where one of our party wanted to catch a subway
-
We enjoyed the various stalls and beautiful blooming flowers
-
I don’t know if I would keep a doctor who pulled my hair.
Exactly my reaction :o
-
Finished a weird documentary, and now trying to find a movie.
-
I don’t know if I would keep a doctor who pulled my hair.
I was not amused. And I did not keep him.
I would think not.
-
Then we remaining three wandered over to https://www.veselka.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=gmb&utm_campaign=veselka
I’ve now read Preview Harvey three times and I’ve enjoyed it for different reasons each time. The last, formatted and visually like it will be in print, made me remember the real thrill of being in a movie theater full of people who’d gathered to watch a movie.
In this covid era, I realize I’ve been twice to the movies, West Side Story and She Said. Both times, I was alone in the theater. Not like it used to be.
Thanks for the Preview Harvey preview, John! Can't wait to read it, myself!
Ditto.
-
I know this is probably sacrilege - but the previews of that Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston comedy sort of make me want to see it.
-
I had borsch for the first time ever ( hot and with meat)
-
It was so amazing
-
We three also shared short rib perogis and potato perogis
-
Last night Vixdad and I had a lovely time at a Rick Wakeman show
-
And tonight , being Maundy Thursday, I went to church
-
After communion the altar is stripped bare and everyone leaves in silence
-
Well nearly everyone
-
The church administrator who is also our deacon, our senior pastor and I stayed behind
-
Then we set everything up for our Good Friday Tennenbrae service.
-
I’ve been the reader for the past dozen years and will do so again tomorrow.
-
Oh looky, page 12!
-
A few more people were wearing masks on the tour bus today, still too many unmasked people coughing and sneezing. It is scary.
-
A couple of the people hadn't worn masks before and we are wondering if they feel ok.
-
In three days we will be in Tokyo. I really don't want to miss it.
-
Not that I want covid, but if I must have it I hope it happens after we arrive home.
-
Have no idea what Clarence Thomas stuff you’re all talking about so I shall go search the interweb
-
No-sick vibes for Jeith.
“Jeith” is what the trade papers call Jane and Keith.
We 4 Rodzinskis wore masks on all our recent plane rides. We were well in the minority with that.
Here is a clip that makes me happy, shot in one take in 1958.
All alone am I
With just the beat of my heart
-
Not even a guest to keep me company.
-
I’m shouting into the void.
-
Void!! I’m shouting into you!
-
Working towards a heady 13th page.
-
The clip I linked above is Steve Allen, Steve and Eydie, Ann Sothern, and Dinah Shore doing an uncut and custom version of This Could Be The Start of Something Big as they transition backstage between two studios. Frank Sinatra has a fun cameo and everyone is quite relieved when it all goes off without a hitch.
Oh void, I’m so sorry I shouted into you earlier.
That was very fun!
It was rude.
-
I should be going to bed
-
Voids have enough problems of their own without people shouting into them.
-
Whoa, vixmom! That’s a cool one.
-
What is that noise?
-
Ah, it’s the sound of someone shouting into the void
-
Vixmom almost there!
-
The question is…should I bookend the fives with sixes?
-
Page Thirteen !
I guess the answer was “yes”
-
Here it is!
-
And bookended…
Now all will know what legendary things happened here this night.
No-sick vibes for Jeith.
Thank you.
-
We came back from our tour today rather soaked as we were out walking in the rain.
-
So, I got an e-mail from the director and tomorrow night, my "table work" with the characters of Mr. and Mrs., and then the Boatman is from 6:30 to 7:00.
-
After that, I'm not needed until 7:45 when we'll work Act I Scene 5 for 45 minutes.
-
Then from 8:30 to 9:30, we'll work Act II Scene 3 with characters as needed.
-
The script that I bought doesn't have the same page numbers, and also doesn't list scene numbers.
-
So, I need to go through the two versions and make notes in mine so that I know where in the "official" script we're supposed to be. ::)
-
“Jeith” is what the trade papers call Jane and Keith.
:))
-
Have no idea what Clarence Thomas stuff you’re all talking about so I shall go search the interweb
I have an idea but haven't read all the details. I tend to skip the news when we are traveling.
-
We 4 Rodzinskis wore masks on all our recent plane rides. We were well in the minority with that.
Good for you.
-
Most annoying is the coughing and sneezing into their hands. By now you would think everyone would know to use their arm.
Then they don't sanitize their hands before touching everything around them.
