Well, you've read the notes, the notes were sparkly, and now it is time for you to post until the sparkly cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: QUEST!
-
Notes braved. Bravo’d.
-
What’s it mean, “sketchy opticals”?
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well, which is a nice change.
-
I have to go to Staples this morning and deal with that damned scanning issue. My receipt says both scans were emailed to 2821514, and I wonder if that's a Staples account number assigned to my email address. I checked an earlier receipt from February, and it says thew scan was emailed to 2821514. The whole thing really pisses me off. Even worse, no one in the copy /print dept. seems to have a clue about the handling the problem.
-
This may be dumb, DR elmore3003, but I assume you've checked your spam folder? Anything to save an extra trip.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Was awake for a half hour around 2:30am, but otherwise slept well.
-
~~~NO UNPLEASANTNESS AND STRONGEST MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes of BK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
DR Rodzinski - according to the Internet:
Opticals – Effects produced through Optical Printing, including transitions, superimposed titles, etc. Sometimes called Optical Effects. However, anything optically printed can be called an optical, so even blowing film up from 16mm to 35mm, though it does not involve an effect, is an optical.
-
I don't know from such stuff personally, mind you.
-
But I feel like I have learned a lot from reading BK.
-
Reading BK... perhaps that should be the title of my next memoir.
-
Lucky #15
I have to be on camera today for work. I suppose I'd better go shave.
-
Shave and a haircut; two bits.
-
By the way, the pianist leading the singalong the other day was amazing. Without sheet music, he played literally anything that anyone called out. He placed it in a key that was comfortable for the entire group to sing in, and - HE KNEW ALL THE WORDS. To everything.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I had an on-again off-again night of sleep myself. There's too much crap going on in our universes right about now.
-
I slept well. Had dreams of working on the last stages of a project that the research director didn’t want to let go.
-
I could use another hour of sleep, but there isn’t one to spare.
-
Wordle 6, Phoodle 4.
-
Now I just want to get off this page.
-
One is the loneliest number.
-
According to Three Dog Night.
-
And I believe them.
-
Let’s move on.
-
Two!
-
RIO BRAVO is one of those movies I've seen a million times -- but never once straight through from beginning to end. I never saw it at a theeder. I do own the old deluxe DVD set that's probably the bad transfer BK and everyone talks about.
-
Two can be as bad as one.
-
Again, according to Three Dog Night.
I think that’s the one I own too.
Good morning
I fell asleep in the recliner while watching Stranger Things after dinner
Woke while Vixdad was putting the house to sleep and got myself to bed
I seem to be tired all the time lately
Anyway, must Wordle and get to work
An American couple is driving through Canada and stops at a gas station to fuel up.
As the man goes into the station to pay, his wife calls out to him, “ask them where we are!” So the husband walks in, pays, and asks, “by the way, where are we?”
To which the attendant answers, “Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.”
-
The man goes back to his car and the wife asks, “where are we?”
“He doesn't speak English" replies the husband.
Disney should close Disney world, let all its workers go on welfare and tell De Santis to #suckit!
That's a knee-jerk reaction to "DeSanctimonious'" latest stupid comments.
He has suggested building a prison next door to Disney World.
The only thing I am certain of is that it's ... umm...Tuesday.
Yes!...that's it...it's TUESDAY!
At least, that's the case in Johnston SC.
I truly cannot speak to where you are.
Yes! No luck with Wordle today for me. I tried five different words with the same last 4 letters and still didn't get it.
Thanks for the link to the Nancy Olson article, DR JohnG. I think I'd like to read her book.
-
My brutal sneezing and runny nose attack lasted two and a half days. Yesterday, and today so far, I'm fine.
-
The car people took a look at the two car issues. I'm to leave it with them again first thing tomorrow morning, and they'll shoot for it being a one-day repair.
-
Fingers crossed for the car repair DR CHAS SMITH - which is less a repair than putting things back the way they were in the first place.
-
No more UNPLEASANTNESS and Super Miracle Vibes for MR BK.
-
Setting STAPLES right vibes for DR ELMORE.
Maybe after your hip replacement you and Liza can go on tour!
-
Thanks for the link to the Nancy Olson article, DR JohnG. I think I'd like to read her book.
You’re welcome. If you get it, I want a full report. Or at least a complete sentence.
-
Thanks DR JOHN G I also enjoyed the Angie Dickinson interview.
I happened to turn to TCM last night and I think they are showing the NEW RESTORATION of Rio Bravo as well.....it was a WOW moment!
We first saw the movie at the Drive In Theeder and all of us in the car gave it both thumbs up....Mother, Dad, my brother, me, and my two sisters.
-
I made some Sloppy Joes for lunch/dinner and tomorrow.
-
Fingers crossed for the car repair DR CHAS SMITH - which is less a repair than putting things back the way they were in the first place.
Put 'em back the way they wuz!
It took forever to walk to Staples; or it seemed that way. The temperatures are so mch lower than yesterday and I was freezing in my shorts and T-shirt. I saw Fatima, the manager, and she rescanned them at no cost. The first scan arrived in my email within minutes, but the second took nearly 30 minutes to show up. I'm happy it's finished.
Of course I checked the spam folders yesterday.
-
Maybe after your hip replacement you and Liza can go on tour!
Shoot me first.
-
LOL.....well it's a living.
-
We finished two of the interviews yesterday and struck the set....the third guy "forgot"......
GREASE! was kind of scary. I saw a lot of folks coming in and talked with everyone I know.... The director is rather unorganized and her idea of rehearsal is "everyone come every night...."
I realize the point of the interview was Rio Braco, but not a word on Burt Bacharach? Odd.
Still not sure about this. His accent is weird. She’s vocally brilliant, but somehow uninspired.
Yes I forgot about the Nancy Olson link yesterday. Very interesting.
I remember an article written about Mr Alan Lerner. There was some meeting going on at his NYC apartment about My Fair Lady early on in the process. And he was married to Nancy at the time. There were a lot of men there and she came through the room to empty ash trays and freshen up drinks.....and Lerner looked at how the other men reacted to her - which was most positive!
And he realized.....that their time together had done a disservice to his attraction....and wrote "I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face" about the incident....
At least that's what I read.
-
I forgot all about the backstories.....and for 46 people that would take a LOT of time.
It would be interesting to hear the story from her perspective: "He's Grown Accustomed to My Face."
Of course, BK wrote his own notorious "face" song.
I'm somewhere between the first and third stage there in DR singdaw's picture.....sometimes when I am coming out of the water, I revert to stage one.
Vibes for orders for MR BK.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I am excited over DR Elmore's hip surgery. What a difference that could make for you!
Vibes it does so.
-
My friend Mal, who lives in the Bay Area, was one of the designers of the RoboDoc, a robotic arm for hip surgeries. The fit of the new hip is of great importance and the RoboDoc allowed a more precise fit. IBM plowed several million into the development, but unfortunately the management team knew little about managing technology projects and was constantly at odds with the tech people. The company folded. It's a shame because it was a very good product. I don't know if there have been any advancements since then.
-
My role in this was coming across the ad in the Washington Post, thinking what a good match it was with Mal's skills, telling him about it, and viola! he got the job.
-
It's another Where did the day go? day for me. Far too many of them lately. I can't seem to get anything done.
-
Vibes to all.
TTFN.
Good news on the miracle front for BK
Glad to hear Fox conceded but it wasn’t enough… apparently it was 1.38 year’s worth of profits…should have been a years worth of profits for every year they spread their lies …all their lies
Very glad for the good news from BK. It's about time!
I getting tremendously concerned about Tom, when did he last check in?
All the Republicans care about is hurting “their enemies” they have zero concern for the public at large
-
DR Rodzinski - here is it, directly from
the horse's BK's mouth:
UNSEEMLY WACKY NOODLES
1 12oz. bag of wide egg noodles, mostaciolli, or bow tie pasta (your choice).
Boil them noodles.
Drain them noodles and put 'em back in the pot and put the pot back on the stove and put the flame on low.
To the noodles add the following:
One can cream of mushroom soup
Fill the empty soup can with milk and add that.
Add as much dried minced onion as you like (the kind you find in the seasoning section of your market)
Add salt and pepper
Add two tablespoons or a bit more of ketchup (don't be scared, you must trust me - this is basically for color and it adds just the right flavor ultimately)
Mix it all together whilst singing Beat Me Daddy Eight to the Bar
When it is heated through and through add five to eight ounces of sour cream (depending on your waist size) and mix again thoroughly and heat on low until hot, stirring constantly. Serve (will probably need extra salt as you serve).
Now, I know it sounds wacky, because, after all, they are Wacky Noodles, but they are delicious, kind of like stroganoff without meat. Give it a try, you'll like it for sure.
-
Gaslighting.
-
SIX.
-
Glad to hear Fox conceded but it wasn’t enough… apparently it was 1.38 year’s worth of profits…should have been a years worth of profits for every year they spread their lies …all their lies
Exactly!
-
DR Rodzinski - sorry about your in-laws.
-
HOWEVER...this isn't the only lawsuit against Fox. Smartmatic also has an upcoming suit:
Health and recovery vibes for The Rodzinskis
A double dose.
The Assassination Bureau is a farce. And rather heavy handed at that. But the score is lovely. And so is Diana Rigg.
Finished the book about Wagner's operas and have started on another by the same author about Verdi's operas. There's also a Puccini volume.
I do not like page seven.
-
Rodzinski - first question: What are sketchy opticals. Opticals in movies are dissolves, fade-outs, fade-ins, anything with effects. Whoever was doing Warners' dupes (dupe negatives) to make the optical dissolves, etc. was the WORST. Now, there were two ways of dealing with opticals - you let them run from the cut prior to them beginning all the way to the cut going into the scene when they're done. In most cases, dissolves are short and so the latter is fine. In the case of a film like Giant, where they do the latter, sometimes those opticals in and out of the production footage can go on for many, many minutes and so those entire sections look ugly and soft and extra grainy because the footage is being duped The first way is to do what they call cutting in short, which means the second the optical begins there's a bump in the footage as it goes to the optical and a bump going out of the optical and those little bumps are cutting in and out of the opticals as soon as you can. In other words, the first way the optical lasts just the length of the actual dissolve or fade or whatever In the second way, the optical lasts for the entirety of the scene prior to the optical beginning (hence no bump as it cuts in and out) and the same on the other end. I prefer the first method.
In Rio Bravo, they do both, and the ones that aren't cut in short really look bad.
-
Second question: Wacky Noodles are my concoction, kind of a faux stroganoff sauce over noodles but not really. You can do it over penne, mostaccioli, bow ties, or wide egg noodles. The ingredients probably seem weird (hence the wacky) but the result is very tasty. And simple as can be.
Cook the pasta, drain, and put back in the pot. Spoon in a can of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup and then fill the empty can with milk (I use 2% fat milk), mix that together, which keeping it over a low heat. Then add salt and pepper and dried onions (I use a lot of the latter). Mix that in and keep stirring so the pasta doesn't ever stick to the bottom of the pot. Then add a bit of ketchup - not too much - just enough to turn the sauce sort of pink. Stir all that, and then finally add two and a half tablespoons of sour cream. Mix that in, turn up the heat and stir constantly until it's hot, then serve.
-
Have I mentioned that I do not like page seven?
-
Is there gaslighting going on?
-
See?
-
Must write some notes now.
-
Hopefully, George will not desert us and will be back posting. As for TCB, has it been a WEEK? I guess there's no convincing him that people here WORRY about him. Oh well.
-
So, I had my first blocking rehearsal for Mr., my act one character.
-
Well, let's hear about it in detail.
-
Let's just.
-
Don't just sit there.
-
Other than songs where I have no solo lines, the two scenes are comprised of 14 of my 17 spoken lines in the entire show.
-
Well, let's hear about it in detail.
I getting to it!
-
I was scheduled to be there from 8:30 until 9:00.
-
However, since there are only a few lines between Mr. and Mrs. and the Boatman (played by former DR Jed), it only took us about 15 minutes, and then everyone was done and we all left.
-
Gratuitous Post #222!!
-
I then came home and chatted for a short while with my friend and neighbor, Shelly.
-
I don't have rehearsal tomorrow night.
-
At some point, I'm probably going to have to start memorizing my lines. ::)
-
All 17 of them.
-
;)
-
As opposed to the 300 or so that I had as Inspector Craddock.
-
And this show has two FULL months of rehearsals!
-
So, I'll have no excuse if I don't memorize them in time.
-
But I SHALL memorize my lines in time!
-
Thanks for the opticals lesson, BK!
-
And the music and lyrics, as well.
-
I have a lot more music to learn, but I'm much more familiar with that than the spoken lines.
-
Thanks for the Wacky Noodles lesson, BK!
-
Rodzinski, you've reached a momentous millstone and posting plateau! :D
-
But we can't stop here!
-
We're almost...
-
