Well, you've read the notes, the notes are counting down to Sami, and now it is time for you to post until the counting cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: INTENTLY!
-
BK, I'll ask Jed your question from last night the next time I have an opportunity.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
DR Rodzinski, wishing you congratulations on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!!!!!!
-
What did you do this weekend?
Oh, I just attended a penguin wedding.
-
I am enjoying the Sami episode cast postings on social media.
-
I just heard the fly on the wall tell the elephant in the room about the skeletons in the closet!
-
Good morning, all!

Around 4:00, a parking garage in the Wall Street area collapsed. injuring five and killing one, all garage employees. Traffic in lower Manhattan is a mess, and this story has dominated the news through this morning.
-
Yesterday was a lost day for me. After I returned home from Staples, my legs no longer wanted to work any ore, so I spent too much time lying down and watching TV. So, today I will get back to the ballet. I have a dance in 5/4 to write for an Academy Award Fantasy.
-
DR George, thanks for the information about the next Fox News lawsuit. Bankrupt the lying bastards!
-
DR JohnG, I too love Laura Benanti. Thanks for posting the Colbert clip.
-
I have a dance in 5/4 to write
That reminds me of this old joke:
A string player was walking offstage after a performance by a student conductor. They said, "How about that piece in 5? I've seen conductors beat in 2+3, and 3+2, and even 4+1 and 1+4. But I've never seen it beat in six takeaway one!"
-
Good morning
-
I saw that news about the collapsing parking garage
-
Very scary
-
I don’t have any news to convey
-
I am so sleepy this morning
-
I just caught up and I can’t remember half of what I read
-
Guess I will coffee and Wordle and get to work

Good morning, all.
-
Want more sleep. Can’t remember what the dreams were about. They were peaceful.
-
Finger doesn’t like the morning.
-
I wonder if it rained.
-
I read that Netflix is doing away with DVDs. Stupid. It’s where I saw some very hard-to-find flicks that’ll never stream, like Kurosawa’s Ikuru, remade as Living.
-
Only in Michigan can you go from hell to paradise in one day.
-
If you go the other way, you have to go in a handbasket.
-
Gaslighting.
-
TWO.
-
Sorry about the finger, DR John G.
-
With all this "gaslighting" you are doing, swingjaw...do you use matches, or something else?
And what happens when you don't have any gas?
Do you just moon the furniture?
-
Me being silly.
-
Good morning, poppets!
-
However did it get to be Wednesday? I am still trying to decide what I wanted to do on Monday.
It's a beautiful day here. Denny Clark is outside riding his lawn mower around my yard. I'm at the every-two-weeks mode of having my grass cut.
-
I slept rather well last night. Nine hours of good sleep. I know I dreamed, and I cannot recall a single thing about the dreams, so I know the sleeps was good.
Got up only once.
-
Tis time for coffee and a muffin.
Possibly, a little "Morning Joe" if Scarborough isn't being too talky, which is generally how he is.
-
Me being silly.
Heaven forfend.
-
Tis time for coffee and a muffin.
I remember when it used to be a morning bun.
-
When you heated it up, you had a bun in the oven.
-
Fun clip of "Melania," DR John G.
-
The former first couple seem utterly humorless in real life.
-
As opposed to Canadians.
-
Canadians. Now they're funny.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Just dropped the car off and am hoping for better results this time.
-
That garage collapse is really something. In a few minutes I will ketchup on that.

Wednesday morning greetings - long time, no see!
We've had an interesting couple of weeks and it's probably going to become more so in the months to come. Richard and I submitted an application to the retirement community where his mother lived and it was accepted on Monday. That means we're officially on the waiting list for a house. There's not much available at the moment, but, in the meantime, we're getting our current home ready to list when the time comes.
-
And, as if that's not enough excitement, Richard spent another 3 nights in the hospital last week with an encore of what had him there in January. No surgery this time, thank goodness.
-
So, this week we have Tyler and Scott here doing this and that to make our house just presentable enough - roof, wall, and ceiling repair in the family room, new flooring in the downstairs bathroom, and some siding replacement around the new front steps. Being tired of this kind of stuff is one of our big reasons for initiating the move to a retirement community.
-
Vibes for DH Richard!
-
Tis time for coffee and a muffin.
I remember when it used to be a morning bun.
Sigh-h-h-h-h-h...me, too. Alas....
-
"Morning Joe" is tolerable this morning. Not a lot of long-windedness in sight.
Willie Geist is not on this morning. He is a favorite.
Joe called Mika "Sweetie", which ticked her off a bit because it's a personal endearment and not something for TV.
"Rev" isn't on this morning, either. Nuff said.
-
Grass is still being cut.
-
So, Ginny, when’s the book sale?
-
So close, and yet so far...
-
Wordle 3, Phoodle 2
-
I wish I was looking forward to something in the mail, but most everything I have ordered will be arriving later this month.
-
Just one more to go.
-
Hi, Ron.
-
Hello, John!
-
Three!
-
So, Ginny, when’s the book sale?
The book sale isn't until September, but the same group has a big garage sale coming up in June. My priority now is to donate stuff to that and this summer we'll gather books and such.

Thank you, DR George, on both counts!

Vibes for DH Richard!
-
Congrats to DR RODZINSKI on his millstone!
-
Lots of news from DR GINNY!
Exciting! Vibes for DH RICHARD!
-
Beautiful day here today weatherwise.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Of all of the network evening panel/quiz shows, which was your favorite? And did you have a favorite panelist - or a panelist you just wish they would skip?
-
Wow, DR Ginny, that is some BIG NEWS. What a huge decision to make, and what a load off your mind it must be to have gotten this far in the planning of it.
Big congratulations to the both of you!
And huge feel better vibes for DH Richard!!!
-
Congrats to DR RODZINSKI on his millstone!
Yes. Many congratulations, sir.
-
Where’s your next 5,000?
-
~~~RECOVERY AND RECUPERATION VIBES~~~ for DH Richard!!!!!!
-
And congratulations on achieving the next step of what I am sure was a huge decision!
-
Thank you to DRs KevinH, JRand, ChasSmith, and Singdaw for the vibes for Richard and the good wishes on our impending (but not immediate) move.
This is a step we've long intended to take by the time Richard turns 80. That gives us 3.5 years, but we didn't want to wait until the last minute and have to rush it.
Will April
What a bore.
So, Ginny, when’s the book sale?
The book sale isn't until September, but the same group has a big garage sale coming up in June. My priority now is to donate stuff to that and this summer we'll gather books and such.
I have got to get the books in this apartment in order and sorted into three categories: keep near me, put it on the shelf, and throw it out.
-
I wrote four bars of 5/4 and fell asleep.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
Of all of the network evening panel/quiz shows, which was your favorite? And did you have a favorite panelist - or a panelist you just wish they would skip?
What's My Line, always. Bennet Cerf was my favorite. I loved his accent and intelligence and humor. Arlene Francis, too.
-
I guess I'm up. Five hours of sleep.
-
Eva Gabor is on Four, DR John G.
-
So you're in good company.
-
I love books, but they are also the bane of my existence. They accumulate in unseemly piles and take up too much room.
-
And yet, I don't want to part with them.
-
What's the difference between weather and climate?
-
You can't weather a tree. But you can climate.
-
Thanks, all. Thank you to Eagle-Eyed George for catching that big post number! I saw it was coming and then I forgot about it. Just like I saw my car was approaching 100k miles and didn’t look again until it was at 100,001.
So, this week we have Tyler and Scott here doing this and that to make our house just presentable enough - roof, wall, and ceiling repair in the family room, new flooring in the downstairs bathroom, and some siding replacement around the new front steps. Being tired of this kind of stuff is one of our big reasons for initiating the move to a retirement community.
Does this mean they take care of all repairs?
Yes, and lawn care and snow removal.
Well, the night before both trips to the hospital we’d had carry out from the same Chinese restaurant. Might be coincidental, but we’re crossing that off our list anyway.
Right now we’re on the list for a stand-alone house, but if the right unit became available in the “condo” building we’d consider it. Apparently, though, those are even more in demand than the houses.
DR JANE are you adjusting to being home?
Of course Mr Howard Hawks directed Mr Walter Brennan to his first Oscar as Best Supporting Actor (first time for that award) in 1936 in Come and Get It - which co starred Miss Frances Farmer in a dual role.
Producer Samuel Goldwyn was in the hospital and Hawks was taking the story in a different direction - when Goldwyn returned he fired Hawks and William Wyler finished the picture much to the displeasure of Miss Farmer.
Mr Hawks once said that Frances Farmer was "the best actress I ever worked with - bar none."
If you have never seen Come And Get It - you might give it a look for Brennan and Farmer.
Thanks, all. Thank you to Eagle-Eyed George for catching that big post number! I saw it was coming and then I forgot about it. Just like I saw my car was approaching 100k miles and didn’t look again until it was at 100,001.
I hit the big 200 a few weeks ago. This is a secondhand car that I haven't had all that long. But since I'd been diligent with my prior car (I think I have photos of both 100k and 200k for that one), I actually left myself little notes about its upcoming birthday! :)
Fortunately, I was able to ensure that I'd be in a good place to stop for the pictures when it happened.
You'd better believe I wouldn't be going back a third time.
Yes DR RODZINSKI there are a lot of good lines in COME AND GET IT.
The good thing about not feeling great is we don't feel like going anywhere.
We are trying to find the energy to celebrate Keith's birthday on Friday ;D
Wow.
-
After our afternoon walk I took our upstairs dog for a walk as his mother is recovering from ankle surgery. She broke it in three places :(
-
To my shock it was pouring when we walked outside. We didn't stay long, just long enough for him to pee and for us to get soaked.
-
Fortunately Keith was planning on us returning here so they could visit. I yelled at Keith to get towels to dry him off while I got my wet clothes off.
-
We had a nice visit before I took him home.
-
I wish the rain would go away while she recovers, it would make life much easier.
-
I am doing kitchen chores tonight. Accompanied by Mr. Brent Barrett.
Oh, yes, no steps.
-
Excellent. Vibes the timing of selling and getting your new home is perfect.
-
Wow big plans in the works for Elmore and for Ginny and Richard
-
It just occurred to me I didn’t tell youze what happened last Tuesday
-
you might recall that back when the pandemic began my Mom decided to take herself to the post office , stepped in a pothole, fell and badly broke her wrist
-
I do recall that.
-
My brother and I took shifts, he the day, I the night , and lived with her for 2 months
-
Before we left her on her own again we insisted she get one of those medical emergency medallions you wear around your neck
-
I found out she wasn’t wearing it, just carrying it around and hanging it in a doorknob
-
She kept doing it despite my arguments that if she fell she would not be able to get to it to call for help
-
When WFO had his accident she finally succumbed to my argument and has been faithfully wearing it everywhere
-
On Tuesday she had a 9 am dentist appointment
-
She became concerned that when they took X-rays and put the lead apron on her it would activate the medallion
-
So she took it off, put it in her coat pocket, folded her coat and put it on her rear car seat
-
Then she went to the dentist
-
About 15 minutes after she was sitting in the dentist chair the receptionist came in to ask if everything was ok
-
She explained that emergency services were in my mothers house and were looking for her
-
Apparently when Mom folded her coat she activated the medallion in her pocket
-
The service went into action
-
They called her house…no answer
-
They called me….
-
She explained that emergency services were in my mothers house and were looking for her
:))
-
Every day when I go to work, I put my phone on my desk for exactly such an emergency
-
Every day but last Tuesday
-
When my phone was in my purse with the ringer turned off
-
Every day but last Tuesday
Of course.
-
The service called my brother who lives 30 minutes away and had just gotten home from his night job
-
He called me three times but my phone was still not talking to me
-
So he got in his car and drove to Mom’s.
-
Meanwhile emergency services had been notified
-
He called me three times but my phone was still not talking to me
I hope he now has your work number.
-
When you get this service they also provide a lockbox (which opens with a code) to hang on the front doorknob and into which you put the house key
-
Mom has one of those full glass storm doors over her front door
-
Which she always keeps locked
-
Another argument we have
-
I keep explaining that a burglar will just break the glass and she’s just making it harder to get out should she need to exit quickly
-
Or for emergency services to access the lockbox without breaking the glass
-
Or for emergency services to access the lockbox without breaking the glass
Oh no.
-
But she insists she feels safer with the storm door locked
-
But THIS Tuesday, by some miracle
-
She left the door unlocked
-
But THIS Tuesday, by some miracle
:o
-
She left the door unlocked
I did not see that coming.
-
So the ambulance guys, the cops and the fireman let themselves in and looked for a little old lady lying in the floor somewhere
-
But they found nothing
-
That's it. You are going to have to invite the entire emergency medical crew to Easter next year.
-
Except for one guy who noticed a note on the refrigerator
-
dentist Tuesday 9 am
-
And on the side of the refrigerator the dentists business card stuck on with a magnet
-
So using Mom’s phone they called and ascertained all was well
-
Oy.
-
Then they locked up and let themselves out and went back to their various stations
-
Perhaps even Double-Oy.
-
By time my brother arrived they were all gone
-
He let himself in and saw that her car was gone and the note on the refrigerator
-
Tried to call me again
-
Double-Oy is like double-stuffed oreos, but with Oy.
-
And went home to bed
-
And the dentist appt. was continuing apace.
-
Meanwhile about lunch time I realized my phone was still in my bag and took it out
-
And found a multitude of messages
-
EIGHT?
-
And hilarity ensued?
-
Mom’s dentist appointment was for a checkup and cleaning
-
She had no cavities
-
And it was all covered by insurance
-
She had no cavities
Well at least there's that.
-
What's the surcharge for a false alarm?
-
I hope it is not at ruinous cost.
-
Things are still cooking here.
-
And my Mom, who, as the annual payment was becoming near was expressing doubts that the cost was worth paying
-
And Brent is still crooning.
-
‘“ who knows if it even works”
-
Not live and in person, of course.
-
‘“ who knows if it even works”
;D
-
Has decided that maybe it is worth keeping the service
-
So the ambulance guys, the cops and the fireman let themselves in and looked for a little old lady lying in the floor somewhere
Oh my.
-
And wearing the medallion
-
That's it. You are going to have to invite the entire emergency medical crew to Easter next year.
;D
-
Thank goodness.
-
Except for one guy who noticed a note on the refrigerator
Good for him.
-
And she has agreed that the front storm door shall remain unlocked
-
So all is well that ends well
-
She does not want to be the lady in those commercials.
-
The End
-
What's the surcharge for a false alarm?
My thoughts on this, false or not false.
-
Interesting look at Camelot:
‘“ who knows if it even works”
LOL
Has decided that maybe it is worth keeping the service
I hope so.
-
Good.
-
I am enjoying season 2 of Schmigadoon - now rebranded Shmicago.
-
NINE.
-
He called me three times but my phone was still not talking to me
I hope he now has your work number.
He does
-
They have moved beyond the 40s and 50s to the 60s and 70s. It's a lot darker.
-
If only the medallion indicated her location. What if it wasn't a false alarm and she was out someplace.
-
It's still a bit forced, but spotting the parodies is amusing.
-
There are multiple reasons your phone could have been off or on silent.
-
I'm sure he was not amused, either.
-
What's the surcharge for a false alarm?
My thoughts on this, false or not false.
I have heard nothing about that
-
He called me three times but my phone was still not talking to me
I hope he now has your work number.
He does
Good.
-
Can one eat amuse bouche and not be amused?
-
Oh, my, that’s some story, DR Vixmom! Glad is all turned out OK.
-
Can one ferme la bouche and not be bushed?
-
Can one fin de siecle and not be fine?
-
Oh, my, that’s some story, DR Vixmom! Glad is all turned out OK.
My thoughts, exactly.
-
Thanks for the Frances clips, DR Jrand72.
-
Was her comeback accompanied by comeback sauce?
-
Or was she just plain sauced?
-
Watching The O. Henry Playhouse. An odd anthology series. The story starts and somehow O.Henry gets woven into the action.
Good acting, decent writing. And Thomas Mitchell is fun as O. Henry.
-
And she has agreed that the front storm door shall remain unlocked
Good.
Very good!
Just discovered a very silly flick called Nice Girls Don’t Explode is on youTube.
https://youtu.be/SmLbXHfLWxA
Barbara Harris is just great as a helicopter mom from hell.
-
One of vixmom's best stories yet.
-
And there is mighty competition in that arena!
Starting soon.
Can’t even collect your life insurance in that amount of time.
-
I missed all of Tuesday!
-
Last night, I was at the Coronation.
-
The evening parties, not the boring crowning parts.
-
In fact, I never saw Charles or Camille.
-
Tornado just touched down in Oklahoma.
-
Hello, DR TCB.
Very good to see you.
When ain’t Barbara Harris great?
-
Last night, I was at the Coronation.
Sorry, that was a dream!
-
I don't know if we need nature to destroy the world.
-
TCB’s back and we got him!
-
Us humans seem to be doing a pretty good job all on our own.
-
Hello, DR TCB.
Hello, singdaw!
-
Well, if you have to dream of something, coronations aren't a bad subject.
-
I hope there were oodles of crumpets.
-
And that is NOT a euphemism.
-
Crumpets and trumpets.
-
TCB’s back and we got him!
Hey, Rodzinski! Congrats on your milestone!
-
And fascinators, I suppose.
-
Fascinating fascinators.
-
Never wear mauve at a ball.
There's always hope! ;)
And eat first.
Hi, Tom!
-
Wrong show.
-
Although with Sondheim, you really can't go wrong.
-
If Sondheim is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
Hmmm.
-
Vixmom, your story hit close to home! Mother in law had so many excuses to not wear her medallion. One absurd one involved fear of EMTs breaking down their door. Ultimately, when she fell the other day, her husband was there. He took his sweet time calling an ambulance though while he searched for her medical card. Anyway, glad your scenario was a false alarm.
Hey, Rodzinski! Congrats on your milestone!
Thank you, my brother in Tomdom.
-
Aka Tomishness.
-
ELEVEN!
The gang's all here! Isn't it nice.
-
It's a block party.
Never. Not. Great.
Probably my all-time fave actress.
-
A little throwback to a simpler time.
-
6 regulars
And 6 guests!
-
It’s TV show time for me. Switched from O. Henry to season 2 of Aftertaste.
-
Aaron Tveit sings a parody of "Corner of the Sky" in Schmicago that is amusing.
One more.
TWELVE.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Good to see you, Tom.
Always nice seeing you, John!
-
Goodnight, sing!
-
Well, bedtime for Bozo.
-
In the first episode of Aftertaste, a cockatoo is shot during a wedding gone awry.
-
I’m sorry but I laughed.
Just got an email that Todd Haimes of Roundabout Theater has died.
:'(
TCB!
-
Thanks DR singdaw.
I think Frances' swift departure from the Ed Sullivan stage was indeed to retire to the nearest beer emporium.
-
MR BK I like your choice of panel show and favorite panelist.
What was sad was that when What's My Line came on, it meant the weekend was over and school was less than 10 hours away.
I also enjoyed To Tell The Truth and especially Polly Bergen and Peggy Cass......
Polly always asked good questions and more than once said: "I don't think it's ANY of them." Which was always good a for a big laugh from the audience.
-
A dozen pages.
-
I am still contemplating DR VIXMOM's story that would make a very interesting short film for YouTube.
-
The Timberwolves are losing again.....and Luka is on the bench in his black jeans and gray long sleeved pull over.....
-
Sad about Mr Haimes.
-
Page Twelve....and DR GEORGE hasn't even shown up yet.
He must be learning his lines.
-
Thanks DR singdaw.
I think Frances' swift departure from the Ed Sullivan stage was indeed to retire to the nearest beer emporium.
And can you blame her?
-
So Sunday is the end of the world.....well.....it's nice to know. I was going to put gas in the car tomorrow....but now I don't have to.
-
In episode two of Aftertaste, there was a scene at a dance studio that was hysterically funny.
-
A new student was described as dancing like a baby giraffe on jelly. The other comments were not so nice.
-
Rodzinski I am so glad your MIL was not alone. Is she planning to wear her medallion in future?
We actually have to get her and FIL into some sort of assisted living situation, pronto.
-
I like to watch What’s My Line on YouTube and enjoy a more civilized pocket of reality.
-
Q for BK:
Fave Barbara Harris movie/performance?
-
Here’s one of mine.
https://youtu.be/yyw-HEAUr40
-
Good night, all.
-
Well, bedtime for Bozo.
But surely NOT bedtime for Tom!!
-
I'm up, I'm up - oh, wait...
-
I do not like page seven. Oh wait...
-
Watched one movie I'd seen before.
-
Page Twelve....and DR GEORGE hasn't even shown up yet.
He must be learning his lines.
Not at the moment.
-
I had dinner at my mom's house and then we played a couple of games of Phase 10.
-
We each won one game. :)
-
Barbara Harris in NASHVILLE is a wonderful performance.
-
Minnesota Timberwolves lose the game.....not unexpected I guess....but a disappointment nonetheless.
-
Congrats on the win DR GEORGE!
-
My sister Molly stopped by this evening and had a piece of her birthday cake and picked up her birthday pressie.
I was lovely to see her. She is doing much better.
-
Why am I up at 12:43 p.m.?
-
time for bed.
-
Here’s one of mine.
https://youtu.be/yyw-HEAUr40
Love it!
-
Congrats on the win DR GEORGE!
Thanks, Jrand!
-
It's not really too difficult when only two people are playing. ::)
-
;)
-
I'm tired.
-
I just am.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
Today was Jonathan Tunick's birthday.
-
His orchestrations for Promises, Promises and then all the Sondheim show until Sunday are masterful and incredible. Ditto his orchestrations for the flop Goodtime, Charley.
-
What else is new?
-
Anything?
-
I don't go in for the news or politics but I will say that Lawrence O'Donnell is the best at it.
-
And I did say it.
-
I am currently sipping a 7-UP.
-
I don't go in for the news or politics but I will say that Lawrence O'Donnell is the best at it.
I'm watching his show right now.
Page fourteen and no gaslighting - amazing.
-
What ever happened to Tab?
Tab was officially discontinued not too long ago, but you can still get a 12-pack for only $350.00 (https://www.amazon.com/Tab-Cola-12-Cans/dp/B07HS58H2Z/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?crid=2J2VTVT5OAVTS&keywords=tab+cola&qid=1681968277&sprefix=tab+cola%2Caps%2C182&sr=8-6) + $55.00 shipping!
:o
-
What ever happened to Fresca?
Fresca is still available. I get it from Fred Meyer every once in a while. :)
-
Bubble Up is owned by the Dad’s Root Beer people now.
-
I never had a Tab. It was a grown-up drink, and when I grew up, it had disappeared.
-
They brought Tab back for a while. A former supervisor ordered some online when it came back and was very upset when it was discontinued again.
-
Well...
-
...since...
-
...we're so close...
-
Gratuitous Post #400!! :D
