Well, you've read the notes, the notes noted twenty-four hours to Sami, and now it is time for you to post until the twenty-four hour cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BEGUILE!
-
Notes devoured. Sami-fied.
-
And a Very Happy Birthday to DR Laura's DD (and former DR?) Sandra!!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And a very HAPPY HHW BIRTHDAY GREETING to DD/Former DR Sandra!!!!!
-
TOD: I plan to watch Sami as soon as possible on Sunday morning.
-
I wish I had PIE to eat whilst watching it.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept very well. Last night I decided I would sleep in. I turned off the alarm and went to bed. I slept poorly until around 11:30, but then I had a nice block until 2:00 or so. After that I was out until Annabelle decided she was cold and crawled under the blankets. We slept nicely until Thatch decided it was time for me to feed them. I got up, checked the alarm, and it was 6:15. I'm feeling quite rested.
-
Besides the ballet work today, I've got to get the laundry in order so I can do it tomorrow or Monday.
-
I will watch SAMI tomorrow evening after Kitty Cleanup, around 7:00. If I start earlier, I may get no work accomplished.
-
Apparently Fox News can claim the $787 million lawsuit payout settlement as a tax writeoff. So us taxpayers lose again.
-
Rest in Peace, Barry Humphries, AKA Dame Edna.
-
Happy Earth Day, y'all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Rest in Peace, Barry Humphries, AKA Dame Edna.
I saw that he was ill. RIP.
-
I wish I had PIE to eat whilst watching it.
You would have some if you made it. Then you could share with us.

Dame Edna, BK and that Sondheim guy.
-
Didn’t sleep well. I have the dehydrator on and it made the room too warm. But I did dream about writing a song called Our Past Belongs in the Past.
-
Maybe I should do that.
-
Nice article on Lee Wilkof, who’s at the Met in the new opera Champion.

Wordle 6, Phoodle 4
-
Time to stir.
-
Good morning!
-
Wordle: 5/6
-
Thanks for the congrats on my milestone, as modest as it is!
-
Can I get an amen?
-
Can I get a hallelujah?
-
Will I get the crook?
-
TWO!
-
Good morning, all.
-
I will avoid the Dead Ringers series like the plague.
Let me amend that. I intend to avoid it a lot BETTER than I did the plague. :)
I remember my first time at the Cronenberg, and how unsettling it was. What a story, and what a film. Time for a watch.
But I'm not sure about the theater. Why am I imagining watching it at the Fairfax? That was certainly close to me then, but maybe it was a subsequent viewing in general release? Wait, I do think they were showing some first runs. Hmm...
(EDIT: Yes, I really do know David Cronenberg's name and how to spell it. Oy.)
-
I'm earlier to bed than I used to be, but if I'm up and it's available at 12:01 EASTERN, I should be good for a couple of episodes. Either way, will enjoy it all tomorrow.
-
Off to Costco.
-
I'm up, I'm up - about six and a half hours of sleep.
-
SAMI DAY is upon us - almost.
I unfortunately am not a member of Amazon Prime so I will just have to live the excitement by proxy.
-
Rest in Peace, Barry Humphries, AKA Dame Edna.
Oh, no. :(
-
I actually got to see Dame Edna in concert in Seattle back in the late 90s or early 2000s. She was hysterical!!
-

That was a great article. Thanks for sharing, John. :)

DR vixmom - looking forward to hearing your work story at some future point in time.
-
You always have the best stories.
-
Told so well.
-
I am spending the morning doing laundry.
-
I could tell that story in great detail.
-
But it wouldn't be very fun.
-
Or interesting, really.
-
But there it is.
-
And it is there.
-
Up is down.
-
And down is up.
-
Three.
-
A short but cute remembrance.

I just got a certified letter informing me that when I turn 65, GE Corporation is going to be sending me $31.97 per month.
-
So apparently, my ship has come in.
-
I'm fancy-free.
-
And a Very Happy Birthday to DR Laura's DD (and former DR?) Sandra!!

Very true.
-
Told so well.
I was going to mention this in my next post.
-
I am spending the morning doing laundry.
I have my second load in the dryer.

Ditto!

Agreed!!

I just got a certified letter informing me that when I turn 65, GE Corporation is going to be sending me $31.97 per month.
Congrats, Singdaw! Just don't spend it all in one place.
;)
-
Happy birthday, Sandra!
-
Jrand, you don't have to be a Prime member to watch our show. You can't watch self-produced stuff, but ours, yes. Just follow the link tomorrow.
-
I took a nap.
-
Missed a page turn.
-
Back from eggs Benedict at Hugo's, which, at nine in the morning, was jammed, almost every table full, so I was squeezed in at a small two-top, which I hate. You must understand, that heretofore, it's been half empty since coming back after the pandemic.
-
Missed a lot, it seems.

Well, it is nice they are thriving
-
But I agree about too many people.
-
Where do they come from?
-
And why can’t they just stay there?
-
I was seated next to a party of six, and a loud party of six. Lots of show biz talk like "I gave an executive at Hulu all my scripts - she loved them but said they weren't for Hulu. Then she and her husband began talking about one of their projects, a reboot of - Gilligan's Island, with Gilligan and the Skipper played by women, and every other character played by every ethnicity, thereby checking off all the boxes. I found it hilariously typical. i also knew who they were instantly - the Jubers - Mr. Juber married to the daughter of Lloyd Schwartz son of Sherwood.
-
Can we make it to four in short order?
-
Don’t touch my Gilligan.
-
No Gillian’s Island.
-
Unless it’s Bob Denver back from the dead. And in drag.
-
Onward.
-
Four!
-
More storms predicted

And cousin to Douglas N. Schwartz, director of… Your Three Minutes Are Up.
-
Rehearsal went well.
-
We cleaned up the act one finale blocking, then ran act one from the beginning (just talking through the songs), until we ran out of time, which, fortunately for me, was after my first Mr. scene, so me waiting around wasn't wasted time. :)
-
I'm now home and need to change to go to the memorial.
-
After that, I'll come home again to change my shirt for ushering at the ballet (an A Chorus Line reference).
-
;D

Unless it’s Bob Denver back from the dead. And in drag.

I also took a nap.

Now I'm fresh as a daisy.

And you know how fresh they are.

DR George, sorry about having to attend a memorial.
-
Have you considered traveling with a personal dresser?
-
DR George, I hope the memorial was comforting.

A lull.

Lullsville.

Lull-aby.
-
Lull is null.
-
Null is lull.
-
And still a long way to go to page five.
-
I didn't do any particular Earth Day things today.
-
When I did the laundry, one of the shirts was green.
-
Does that count?
-
Probably not.
-
If I devoured a Shamrock shake, would that count?
-
Probably not.
-
Not even Dino at the piano.
-
Gaslighting.
-
FIVE.

PAGE FIVE EARTH DAY DANCE

Oh thanks for the good news MR BK....I shall follow the link.
-
This has been a Saturday of irritations and starts and mostly stops.
I shall now finish emptying the dishwasher - a job I began about six hours ago.
-
....I shall follow the link.
Always a good plan.
-
I think you broke a record for the longest amount of time taken to empty a dishwasher ;)
-
Sorry, DR Jrand72. May your day only improve from here.

:)

I was reading about a house that exploded, as in BOOM, BOOM. It is basically gone except for the items that are in the nearby trees.
-
Neighboring homes had their windows blown out along with other damage.
-
It has been called a catastrophic explosion.
-
Was it a gas leak? Were they manufacturing meth?
-
Fortunately the house was empty as the owners were preparing it to rent. It had both gas and propane.
-
I am guessing one boom was gas and the other boom was propane.

DR George, sorry about having to attend a memorial.
Thanks, Singdaw. It was real nice...and not too sad. People told fun stories about her.
-
Have you considered traveling with a personal dresser?
It depends...do we get to dress each other?? ;)
;D
-
DR George, I hope the memorial was comforting.
It was really nice. There also were some former co-workers there, so it was great to ketchup with them

Yikes! It's amazing that no one was hurt!

And now, I'm off to usher for the ballet.

Yesterday just after lunch Vixdad called to see how my day was going
-
And now, I'm off to usher for the ballet.
I hear everything is beautiful there
-
Yesterday just after lunch Vixdad called to see how my day was going
Just as I was about to answer him the room was filled with blindingly bright flashing lights
-
And soul piercing shrieks
-
Which came not from my fellow workers
-
Or myself for that matter
-
The sound turned out to be the fire alarm
-
The combination of the lights and the noise were very effective at persuading a quick evacuation
-
So I told Vixdad I would call him back, grabbed my purse and headed for the door with the rest of my fellow employees
-
Half of them were grumbling about being too busy for a stupid fire drill
-
The other half were rejoicing at a chance to go out in the beautiful sunshiny day
-
Happy Earth Day! And Happy Birthday to Sandra!
-
The we reached exited out office and entered the common hallway which was filling up with employees from the other offices in our four story office building
-
Also with the acrid smell of smoke
-
Suddenly the complaints stopped and everyone quickly and efficiently headed for the staircases
(there are two on each floor)
-
And we all exited into the parking lot
-
Where we saw
-
As the different office staffs began mingling and speculating on what was happening we learned that there was a young man , 19 or 20, who was stuck in an elevator between the third and fourth floors
-
He was on a cell phone talking to one if his fellow workers and was panicked
-
Because the smoke was in the elevator shaft
-
Several firefighters and police officers rushed into the building
-
Meanwhile this was happening
-
Watched Dead Ringers, the correct version. It's really something else - not a wasted moment, an Oscar-worthy performance by Jeremy Irons, and in the end, intensely moving, something the rank new version doesn't even approach. And we don't get multiple shots of women sitting on a toilet, which along with vomit scenes seems to be part of the template of women writers. To which I say, take a long walk off a short pier, you talentless hacks.
-
That was strong.
-
Deciding what to watch next.
-
And this
-
Saturday evening greetings!
I seem to have arrived just in time for DR Vixmom's suspenseful story...
-
After about 30 or 40 minutes, which must have seemed a lifetime to that young man, he was escorted out if the building by a couple of police to great cheers and applause
-
He was soon surrounded by a group of his coworkers all hugging him and making much of him.
-
It took another 30 minutes or so before we were given the all clear to return into the building
-
The scuttlebutt was that an elevator motor had seized and that what was smoking but that there was never any actual fire
-
However for the next 45 minutes or so the lights kept flashing , making the office seem somewhat like a strobe lit 1980’s dance club
-
And periodically an ear piercing shriek would be emitted from the speakers in the ceiling
-
Finally at 4 pm the boss said, “This is ridiculous, everyone go home”
-
So we did
-
The end
-
DR Vixmom, I'm glad the young man was rescued and that the cause of the smoke was determined.
-
Yes, I am very glad that my two recent encounters with emergency services ended happily with no injuries
-
CODA:
On Thursday the brand new owner of the building , all smiles , had come around to introduce himself and the new building superintendent to everyone

In about six hours we'll know if we're live at 12:01

I know not how to beg his pardon for opening such an offensively numbered page
-
Probably still is.
-
I have also failed to celebrate the birthday of our greatly missed former poster DR Sandra
-
You can make amends, DR vixmom, by rapidly moving us along to eight.
-
That offense, at least, I can remedy
-
Not that you haven't done quite a lot already.
-
Happiest of Birthdays to the lovely Sandra

May her day be filled with joy, love, cake, ice cream and prezzies

Was it liverwurst?

Was it a reuben?
-
Was it a Cobb salad?
-
Vixdad took me to a favorite crepe restaurant

Was it Wacky Noodles?

I had this

Ah. I crave a crape!

Looks delicious!

If you can't have iHop, crepes are great.

A seafood crepe with a mixed greens salad with the house made basalmic dressing

The filling was tiny salad shrimp, tiny scallops, red peppers and cremini mushrooms in a cream sauce

It was wonderful

We both had the cafe latte for our beverage

You teaser ;)
-
The combination of the lights and the noise were very effective at persuading a quick evacuation
I bet.
-
Half of them were grumbling about being too busy for a stupid fire drill
Are fire drills normal there?
-
The other half were rejoicing at a chance to go out in the beautiful sunshiny day
Was no one concerned it was a fire?
-
Happy Earth Day! And Happy Birthday to Sandra!
Hi DR Jennifer.
-
The we reached exited out office and entered the common hallway which was filling up with employees from the other offices in our four story office building
Were the elevators shut down?
-
Also with the acrid smell of smoke
I suspected you were leading up to this.
-
Scary.
-
Suddenly the complaints stopped and everyone quickly and efficiently headed for the staircases
(there are two on each floor)
That answered my question about taking the stairs.
-
I am glad everyone was efficient.
-
And we all exited into the parking lot
The usual spot.
-
Where we saw
Did you take this photo or is it an example?
-
As the different office staffs began mingling and speculating on what was happening we learned that there was a young man , 19 or 20, who was stuck in an elevator between the third and fourth floors
Very scary.
-
He was on a cell phone talking to one if his fellow workers and was panicked
Poor guy. I can't imagine a fire alarm going off while I am in the elevator.
-
If that happened I would expect the elevator to stop at a proper floor.
-
Because the smoke was in the elevator shaft
I too would be panicked.
-
Several firefighters and police officers rushed into the building
Thank goodness they were fast.
-
Meanwhile this was happening
Wow.
-
And this
It looks higher than four stories.
-
Saturday evening greetings!
I seem to have arrived just in time for DR Vixmom's suspenseful story...
Lucky for me I am reading it all at once.
-
After about 30 or 40 minutes, which must have seemed a lifetime to that young man, he was escorted out if the building by a couple of police to great cheers and applause
A long time but not really surprising. The cheers and applause must have made him feel good.
-
He was soon surrounded by a group of his coworkers all hugging him and making much of him.
Sweet.
-
It took another 30 minutes or so before we were given the all clear to return into the building
It seems the all clear was given fairly quickly considering.
-
The scuttlebutt was that an elevator motor had seized and that what was smoking but that there was never any actual fire
And why it stopped where it did.
-
Do you know if the fire department was able to reassure the young man that there wasn't a fire while he waited to be resuced?
-
However for the next 45 minutes or so the lights kept flashing , making the office seem somewhat like a strobe lit 1980’s dance club
Are strobe lights for the deaf?
-
And periodically an ear piercing shriek would be emitted from the speakers in the ceiling
Groan!
-
Finally at 4 pm the boss said, “This is ridiculous, everyone go home”
LOL, I would think so.
-
Yes, I am very glad that my two recent encounters with emergency services ended happily with no injuries
Ditto on that.
-
I wonder if he was suffering buyer’s remorse on Friday
;D
-
Dare I even name it?
I am sure he appreciated your unleashing ;)
-
Unless it is unleashed, there is no way to get to page eight.
-
Too bad birthday gal Sandra never comes around here - she was genuinely funny.
I miss her humor.
-
Would anyone care to hear about my lunch?
:))
-
I had this
That looks good.
-
Which this cafe serves like this
Interesting.
-
With added sugar
Pretty.
-
I just realized, thanks to Vixmom's story, I got us to page nine.
-
And to page ten.
-
Now that I've heard about, and seen photos of, DR Vixmom's lunch - I'll have what she's having.
-
The Mississippi is not expected to crest until next Friday, the 28th.
-
Vibes it doesn't flood over.
-
Many low-lying streets around downtown St. Paul are already closed.
-
Do we know if Sami becomes available at midnight Eastern time, or what?
-
Many low-lying streets around downtown St. Paul are already closed.
I guess it is good to be prepared.
-
'night
-
See y'all on the flip side - the Sami side!
-
Thanks for the story, DR vixmom.
-
Glad all was right in the end.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Wow that was some story DR VIXMOM....well told.
-
Dr JANE - the dishwasher remain loaded....it's just been a DAY!
-
My show I am watching ends at midnight, so perhaps we will have the SAMI link by then.
-
Long night of dancing.
-
Started Rupert Holmes’s latest novel, Murder Your Employer. It is a lot of fun.
-
Finished Pinocchio. Was surprised at how effective it was. But I think I prefer adaptations to the original.
-
I’m now back to The Whale. Depressing. But Fraser is good. Very good.
-
Burger was pretty good.
-
Where we saw
Did you take this photo or is it an example?
It’s a screen shot from the video I took
-
Half of them were grumbling about being too busy for a stupid fire drill
Are fire drills normal there?
They’re not unusual
-
Out of curiosity - if any of our East Coasters are up at 12:01 see if the link works. We're not sure it it's East Coast or West Coast time, although my guess is West Coast.
-
Can you post the link again? It's about 16 minutes until go time.
-
One more post.
-
Page 11 at midnight nearly.
-
I survived The Whale. I never varied in my opinion: It was an overwritten mess with several fine performances.
-
Now starting Film Hawk, a documentary about independent film guru Bob Hawk.
-
Time for ice.
-
Link is in the notes but here it is again: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6GRK789
But this is just for the East Coasters to see if it went live there at 12:01.
-
No, still getting the “sorry, we couldn’t find that page” page.
-
Yes that's what I get, too, DR CHAS SMITH.
Thanks for posting the link again MR BK!
-
Hoping it really does go live at 12:01 CA time. I think that's how Amazon works, but again it could go live middle of the night or in the morning.
-
It would behoove everyone if they let you know the actual time it goes live.
-
And now, I'm off to usher for the ballet.
Well, the ballet was actually really good.
-
The music was canned, but it also was really good.
-
They didn't say in the program where it came from, or who wrote the bulk of it.
-
There were a few recognizable tracks like the Blue Danube Waltz, and something from either Swan Lake or The Nutcracker...but very few.
-
The rest of the music sounded like it was all of a piece, but I don't know for sure.
-
Before the ballet, I went to the memorial for my former co-worker.
-
That was really nice, too.
-
There were maybe two dozen people there, and quite a few other former co-workers.
-
It was nice to ketchup with them...sadly, under these circumstances, but still it was really nice.
-
And before that, we had SitPwG rehearsal.
-
That went well...we finished blocking "Sunday," the act one finale, then started running act one from the beginning.
-
Fortunately we were able to actually get to my first scene before our scheduled time was over.
-
I can't wait to watch Sami! ;D
-
But first, I need to ketchup on the rest of today's posts.
-
IT'S WORKING!!
-
I was able to buy the whole season!
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Best of all - we're LIVE!
-
AND on page twelve.
