Well, you've read the notes, the notes specified that today is the day that Sami premieres, and now it is time for you to post until the premiering cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HARMONY!
-
And we're live!
-
So exciting!!!
-
Link is indeed live and seems to offer the season for a mere $7.99.
-
Notes finished. Finagled.
-
Who'll be first to watch???
-
And the word of the day is: HARMONY!
Sunday by the blue purple yellow red waters...
;D
-
Who'll be first to watch???
I watched the first episode!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Welcome to PREMIERE DAY!
-
Sami is purchased and will be commencing shortly.
-
I am assuming that if we watch the episodes more than once, that also helps the algorithms?
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept quite poorly last night, and I'm sure it's payback for the wonderful night of sleep the day before.
-
PBS in NYC is now showing the first season of Midsomer Murders from 1998, and - while I have seen 22 seasons of the series - these current reruns only confirm my feelings that the series is no longer what it once was. Perhaps it was because of John Nettles' long association with the Royal Shakespeare Company or his many years of BBC work, but the casts of these early episodes are full of wonderful actors - Elizabeth Spriggs, Bernard Hepton, Selina Cadell, Anna Massey, among others - and very good writing with a quirky sense of humor, all of which seem diluted by Sason 22.
In last night's episode 77 year-old actress Eleanor Summerfield delivered a wonderfully funny yet touching portrayal of a retired, marijuana-growing movie and stage star while the mystery was carried on by, among others, the Royal Shakespeare Company's Roger Allam amd Tessa Peake-Jones, who's currently on Grantchester.
-
I orchestrated No. 13C yesterday, but I got nowhere on putting the laundry together. I may get to that today, but I'd much rather score No. 14 and finish Act One Scene Three. I'm very eager to finish Act One.
-
I am also eager to see SAMI tonight.
-
I am assuming that if we watch the episodes more than once, that also helps the algorithms?
Correct!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Decent night of sleep. Work dreams, but it wasn't my work. I don't remember any details.
-
Good morning!
Good day!
How are you this beautiful day!
Isn't this a beautiful morning?
VERY!
-
I won't sing it. Don't ask me.
-
I had a decent night's sleep, as well.
My dreams are a bit vague, but I do recall a conundrum surrounding whether I had enough soup to serve guests.
One part of the dream had me crossing a railroad track to get to a market when a little light went on inside my head reminding me that I had just what I needed in one of my cabinets.
Where that one led, I cannot recall.
-
No, I do not entertain with meals.
Unless they are meals out in a nice place.
-
I AM enjoying my Tovala meals, for the most part.
The portions are right, but I feel the need to have some vegetables, fresh or cooked, on the side. Some of their meals have such veggies, but not all. Some have risotto (so far, only mushroom) or mashed potatoes...or roasted potatoes. I like to add sliced tomatoes and fresh cooked squash to complement the meal, even though I do have leftovers that I have to put into the refrigerator.
They do have meals that feature quinoa or the like, but I haven't ordered those.
-
Good morning, all.
-
On behalf of myself and the six guests, I thank you for us all.
-
One more row to hoe, as they say.
-
Hoe! Hoe! Hoe!
-
Page 2
-
I have purchased the series and am setting up to watch as we speak.
-
I'll be watching on the laptop on my desk, with good audio from the studio monitors.
I *think* we're set up to watch Prime on the TVs (I'm not the expert in this house when it comes to the "smart" devices). If so, I will either finish up by watching some of them on the big screen, or I'll save that for the next time.
-
I didn't remember I had a $1.50 Amazon credit for something or other, which automatically applied and knocked my series price down to $6.49, such a deal. :)
-
Hoe! Hoe! Hoe!
Who you callin' a hoe?
-
I have watched. I am elated. It's fantastic. So much fun!
-
Now, to craft a pithy review.
-
Review posted. Don't know how long it takes to get approved.
-
I was quite pleased to encounter a few favorite BK songs that I was already familiar with, but the new ones are delightful, too.
-
I'm ready for a pie fight.
-
Just try an' stop me.
-
Every performance among the principals is stellar. The cameos are so much fun.
-
HA! Yes, you can purchase the SAMI season for only $7.99.
It was most entertaining and I liked everyone!
-
Somebody give me a pie!
-
I shall think a bit before I write my review.
-
Congrats to MR BK & Co.
-
DR singdaw I can't find the link to leave a review.....I have completely lost my online mind.....can you tell me where to find it?
-
Good morning from Amtrak Train 164 to NYC!

I purchased the Sami series but can’t watch it on my iPad. Looking forward to it, BK!

Hello everyone. After you have finished watching the delightful, funny new Amazon series SAMI, make sure to check out the new Broadway Radio Show. This episode we remember Todd Haimes who led the Roundabout Theatre Company for 39 years. We pay tribute to Todd by listening to selections from 24 of the Broadway musicals presented by Roundabout!

So sad. Thank you, DR Donald.
-
The Sami cast is on fire!

This made me think of the Rodzinskis

WFO has purchased the Sami series and I’m going over a little later to watch with him
-
I have not yet Wordled so I shall commence that now

-
DR Jrand, I hope you are having a better day and managed to empty your dishwasher :)
-
DR John my brother told me to read Murder Your Employer. I already had a hold on it at my library thanks to the comments here.

We need to go from this:

That's nice. Please say hello from me.
-
We need to go from this:

-
To this:
;D
-
This reminded me I need to start my dishwasher.
-
After you've watched the entire Sami series, you will want to watch it again.
-
But also, if you're going out, you can also start your television playing on episode one, and it will run through the series again.
Just sayin'.
Algorithms, shmalgorithms.
-
I would have been unhappy with myself had I not remembered to start the dishwasher. I prefer to do the load in the morning when I can add our bedside mugs. It also forces me to empty the dishwasher the same day ;)
-
:)

I read something about a new movie coming down the pike. It's called The Miracle Club. Three close friends, played by Laura Linney, Maggie Smith, and Kathy Bates, from Dublin, travel on "the journey of a lifetime" to Lourdes, the French town known as the place of miracles.
I'd see that!
-
Review submitted.
-
Just submitted mine, too. What a great binge watch. Most gratifying!
-
Let the waiting commence.
-
I'll pass on the joke, thanks.
-
But.... WHY?
-
;D
-
Artists have always been maligned. Thus it was, is, and ever shall be.
-

Maggie Smith from Dublin? Yes. Laura Linney and Kathy Bates not so much. But I am not complaining.
-
I only paid $2.47 or something for Sami. I did have some credits. I guessed those were used. First episode was fun.
-
But also, if you're going out, you can also start your television playing on episode one, and it will run through the series again.

Algorithms, shmalgorithms.
Is Schmalgorithms the third season of Schmigadoon?
-
I am now filled with glee.
I want to be full of ghee.
-
DR JANE since you reminded me - the dishwasher is now emptied and everything put away.
-

We didn't have any credits, not that I expected to have any credits.
-
DR JANE since you reminded me - the dishwasher is now emptied and everything put away.
Good :)
-
I'm up, I'm up - about six hours of sleep.
-
Happy to read your thoughts about the show.
-
Sent out a big Kritzer eBlast. Some lovely online reactions, including Robert H. Harris, who loved it so much that he's trumpeting it at the Home Theatre Forum.
-
I hate when Amazon delays the reviews - it's ridic.
-
Not sure what to do about food.
-
Everyone must be watching Sami! :)

I love it! ;D

I just got back from walking Margo's dog.
-
Now, I'm dressed to work concessions at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts for a symphony concert.
-
After that, I'm going to visit my friend Shelly.
-
Then I'll come home and FINALLY be able to watch the rest of Sami. :)
-
Everyone must be watching Sami! :)
I am trying to figure out how to watch it on my computer. We own it, I have just never watched anything on my computer, and I don't want to learn how to work the tv.

Gratuitous Post #103!!

Everyone must be watching Sami! :)
I am trying to figure out how to watch it on my computer. We own it, I have just never watched anything on my computer, and I don't want to learn how to work the tv.
I watched it all on the computer. If you bought it, just go to that page and you should just be able to click on "Play now."
-
Yes DR JANE that's what I did.....I could watch each episode or just let them all play in order.
-
Going grocery shopping.
-
Then tonight, have to attend the shiva of a Rabbi acquaintance of ours that died from pancreatic cancer.
-
Vibes for DR singdaw.
-
Thanks, DR Jrand72!
-
So much ballet happening around HHW - Tiler Peck must be very proud.
-
We should be posting with alacrity.
-
But instead,
-
We have a dearth.
-
A dearth, I tell you.
-
Many people don't know that in The Secret Garden, the original song draft was called "A Little Bit of Dearth."
-
But that was quickly perceived as being too negative.
-
So they swapped "Earth" for "Dearth."
-
Calamity avoided.
-
One more.
-
FIVE.
-
I was really impressed with Sami in Sami. And Karim Hazime was right there with her. But of course, she had a lot more do to.
-
I truly loved her rendition of "Simply," one of my favorite BK creations.
-
I think yesterday was Dearth Day?
-
Does anyone remember Earth Shoes?
I had a pair in 1970....very comfortable.
-

I did, and it was surprisingly easy :)
-
Excepting breaks for a walk and to make dinner, I watched it straight through.
-
Then tonight, have to attend the shiva of a Rabbi acquaintance of ours that died from pancreatic cancer.
That is sad.
-
I was really impressed with Sami in Sami. And Karim Hazime was right there with her. But of course, she had a lot more do to.
I felt the same way.
-
Did I mention the lack of trash cans in Japan?
-
There weren't any to be found.
-
There was also very little trash on the ground.
-
Only tourist, like us, walked around eating ice cream cones.
-
It was truly strange.
-
I loved the lack of trash on the ground but missed having trash cans.
-
Places sold ice cream cones, and the expectation was you would eat the cone inside the store or just outside.
-
Just like here, there was a paper wrap around the bottom of the cone.
-
Still we were apparently expected to carry that paper trash away with us, which we did.
-
I was very grateful for the 7-Eleven stores.
-
Then tonight, have to attend the shiva of a Rabbi acquaintance of ours that died from pancreatic cancer.
My condolences, Singdaw. :(
-
I purchased bags of cashew nuts for protein snacks.
-
And I could trash those paper wrappers along with the remainder of my ice cream cone, along with whatever other trash we had.
-
We also did a lot of bowing in Japan ;D
-
Our hotel in Osaka was on an upper floor of the building.
-
There was someone on staff to direct people to the elevator going up.
-
This person often pressed the elevator buttons to call the elevator, then send people up to the correct floor.
-
Always, the person stood a few feet in front of the elevator, and as the doors closed, the person gave a deep bow.
-
We enjoyed watching the young women walking around in kimonos. Usually in pairs, often in matching or coordinated outfits.
-
Sweet were the young couples walking around with the women wearing kimonos and the men also in traditional Japanese clothing.
-
We enjoyed watching two couples connect on the streets, take their masks down, and have what appeared to be a happy conversation. They were all young, early twenties, and very cute.

I couldn't reduce the size and had to take that photo off of my FB page. I apologize to those who can't see it.
-
I just noticed she was not wearing sandals like he is. Most of the women wore traditional shoes.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
We need some damn alacrity around here.
-
Listening to some music.
-
Had two tuna sandwiches for food - for the first time in ages, Gelson's still had some onion rolls.
-
Have received some lovely emails and messages about the show - and I love the ones posted here.
-
Sami sent me a nice text - she, of course, hadn't seen any of the episodes until today.
-
Get me off this damn page.
-
I watched Interplay, a ballet by Jerome Robbins, music by Morton Gould - really great.
-
Haven't found a movie that made me want to watch - hopefully, I will at some point.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
Excuse me!
-
;D
-
Have received some lovely emails and messages about the show - and I love the ones posted here.
Very nice, and well deserved.
-
Sami sent me a nice text - she, of course, hadn't seen any of the episodes until today.
Did she watch by herself or with friends?
-
Probably by herself.
-
BTW, for those who've already written reviews, you can cut and paste and review on the imdb - that would be very helpful, too. Here's the link to the Sami imdb page, but it also comes right up now if you search the title. In addition to the overall review, you can also review separate episodes by clicking on Season 1 just under the title of the show. And rate it by stars first, that's easy.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt22505564/reference/
-
Probably by herself.
Thanks.
-
'night
-
Thanks for all the details about your trip, DR Jane. So interesting.
-
I rated Sami on IMDB - the series and each episode - but I can't find a place to paste a text review anywhere.
-
Oh - found it. Review submitted.
-
I had hoped to get us at least to the dreaded page seven, but I'm running out of steam.
-
I don't have fascinating observations about Japan to impart.
-
Or funny behind-the-scenes filming stories about Sami.
-
I don't have Phase 10 scores to share.
-
Or tales of the antics of three NYC housecats.
-
Or stories about dance class.
-
Or firemen.
-
Nevertheless (that's one word), page SEVEN.
-
The dreaded seven, of which BK does not like.
-
But with which we're stuck.
-
For the nonce.
-
If my name were Nancy, I'd be Nance on the Nonce.
-
But it isn't.
-
So it wasn't.
-
I can't imagine the logistical plotting required to film the pie fight in such a way that it was all covered.
-
Because once you start flinging pies, you can't exactly undo that.
-
I'll bet it was great fun, though.
-
Being in a pie fight would, I suppose, have to be on my bucket list.
-
I see DR vixmom, but I don't see any posts.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Back to Sanditon. I need to catch up.
-
Got a phone call instead. Faux Austen will have to wait.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
A BIG CONGRATS TO BK, Sami, and all the rest! Well done!
-
I was very pleased that Kerry O'Malley did a song. She's such a fine singer. I hadn't seen her act before, but she was very good.
-
and I enjoyed BK's part, which I wasn't expecting.
-
The show not only showcased Sami's talent, but BK's songs.
-
In addition to watching all of SAMI, I had to do a DMV test. The California DMV now lets us do the written test online for license renewals. Yay! It was even well designed. Glad to have that out of the way. I'll have to go in for the in-person part in a couple weeks.
-
Back to SAMI, Sami has really grown as a singer. She's worked hard and has earned it.
-
Now I'll try to write a review.
TTFN.
Sleep well, Bruce. You can breathe a sigh of relief now. It went very, very well.
-
Somebody give me a pie.
-
I kept hoping someone would say that line from the Three Stooges short film......
-
Call me sleepless in
Seattle Saint Paul.
-
Yes, I'm back.
-
We'll get off page seven yet.
-
By hook or by crook.
-
Gaslighting.
-
EIGHT!
-
Whew!
-
I just finished episode 3, and now am watching Sami sing "Simply" beautifully.
-
And now, on to episode 5!
-
I just had a late dinner of Costco meatloaf and mash potatoes.
-
Yum!
-
Alet Taylor!! ;D
-
Just finished all SAMIs.
-
Karen Ziemba!
-
Someone mentioned “Simply.” Gorgeous. Several solid ballads by BK put across by Sami. Loved also the one in the studio in Ep7 and the one she does at her homecoming open mic hosted by the great Jason Graae.
Episode 4, the actor she goes on a date with—hilarious!
Karim Hazime so winning as her BFF. Sammy is such a good pal. Want more of his backstory in season 2!
-
Let's hear thoughts!
-
The date is the son of Sal Viviano and Liz Larsen - we saw a lot of tapes for the date guy but he just knocked it out of the park.
-
Also showed the pie fight to the kids. I like that it wasn’t a bunch of lazy whipped-cream pies. That guy takes one of the best full pies to the face in history. Skilled pie FX!
-
The date is the son of Sal Viviano and Liz Larsen - we saw a lot of tapes for the date guy but he just knocked it out of the park.
He was the perfect mix of ego and insecurity. And when she’s ready to end the date, he pulls it back just a little just to further save his ego.
-
The date is the son of Sal Viviano and Liz Larsen - we saw a lot of tapes for the date guy but he just knocked it out of the park.
I wondered if he was their son!
-
Brad Oscar was also great. He should’ve signed Sami after all that!
-
Brad Oscar was also great. He should’ve signed Sami after all that!
I know! That's exactly what I thought!
-
Especially after singing with Karen Ziemba!
-
He will sign her if there's a season two and he'll become recurring.
-
How can we still be on lowly pate eight?
-
Shouldn't we be on page twenty by now.
-
I talk about the pie fight in the notes. Besides the light pre-made crusts, it was pudding and Cool Whip.
-
And I'll save a few really secret secrets for a Zoom Q&A I think we'll do at some point this week - think that would be fun?
-
I do.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Is there gaslighting going on?
-
Pretty sure there is.
-
See?
-
How can we still be on lowly pate eight?
Pate eight?? ;)
-
And I'll save a few really secret secrets for a Zoom Q&A I think we'll do at some point this week - think that would be fun?
I hope I don't have rehearsal the night of the Zoom.
