Well, you've read the notes were a remembrance of our beloved TCB, and now it is time for you to post until the sad TCB cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LUMINARY!
-
Topic of the Day:
Die Hard (the first one)
The Sixth Sense
These are the only Bruce Willis movies that I like. The only other movie of his that I've actually seen was Armageddon, and I didn't particularly like that movie. I thought Deep Impact (with a similar plot) was much better...and Deep Impact had Morgan Freeman as the president! ;)
-
Notes vetted. Cherished.
-
“Where’s TCB?” we ask, honorarily.
“Up with the angels and pain free.”
-
The Sixth Sense hands down. Not my all-time favorite movie, but probably my all-time favorite cinematic experience, so perfectly shocked was I by the ending. I was lucky in that a friend called me and said, “Go see this movie, now!” And it happened to be playing at the theater in Park Slope near me, so I walked on over. Knew nothing about it, had seen no ads, didn’t know “I see dead people” or what it was about. And about 7/8 of the way through, I’m getting a little annoyed, I remember thinking, this is ok, but why on earth did he insist I see this? Like, I was ready to rip my friend a new one for wasting my evening. Then the ending happened, and the audience was stunned, and my jaw hit the floor, and we all walked out into the Brooklyn night, and I’m like looking to talk to someone, anyone, like, “Did you just see that?” Everyone was in shock.
An experience never to be duplicated.

This post made at 2:22.

Despite what the time stamp says!
-
Let’s see if I can get back to sleep…
-
Pouring rain here. Who knew?
-
Good morning, all!
-
The past 12 hours have been hell. I finished No. 15 of the ballet, played on the laptop for a bit, and turned off the lights around 10"30, about ninety minutes past my usual time. And I couldn't get to sleep because of the pains. I couldn't get comfortable as well, and this discomfort and pain lasted all night. At 5:30, knowing the alarm would ring in thirty minutes, I turned iff the alarm and snuggled with Annabelle, who tired of me quickly and ran away. I couldn't get back to sleep and I finally rose at 6:30.
-
As soon as I was dressed, I had a health crisis that sent me off to the bathroom for too long and a change of clothes. Iam not happy at the moment. I've sent my Dublin friends an email asking to postpone lunch today.
-
I plan to do little as possible today, if I can.

While I definitely have a sense of what he was like, I'm sorry I never had a chance to meet TCB in person.

Today is my one totally "free" day in between incredibly busy runs of days. I'm spending it doing laundry, changing the bed, learning a batch of songs for upcoming concerts (schools and otherwise), scanning a keyboard book -- and I don't know what else, but the what else had better not be much.
-
There is something wrong with this list, DR ChasSmith. I don't see "take a nap" listed.
-
When you are changing the bed, if you just happen to lie down for a bit, I don't think anyone would notice.
-
Lovely notes.
I read a couple of the Facebook items mentioned yesterday. Very nice.
-
So, back in March, I mentioned that "my new car that's only nine months old started flashing warning lights on the dashboard indicating that the EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology was turned off (and not by me!), and also the Subaru AT Oil Temp Light was flashing!" I was able to get an appointment, but not until three weeks later. At that time, I was told that the history of that "event" within the computer in the car is deleted after the car is turned off and on a few times. They can't diagnose the code unless it's in "active" mode. Well, I got the EyeSight error messages again on Sunday (but not the AT Oil Temp message), but I wasn't able to bring the car in until Tuesday. Again, the error history had been deleted from the car's computer. :P
-
Tonight we are blocking pp. 9-27. We shall see what happens.
-
But then it happened again last night! I was driving to rehearsal and it came on while I was driving. After rehearsal, I came right home, so my car has been turned off only two times. HOPEFULLY, I can bring it in today without having to go anywhere else and they're able to diagnose the code AND the problem!
-
I liked DR JOHN G's list.
I also am a fan of Mr. Bruce Willis from the Moonlighting days.
I will add:
True West
The Story of Us
-
I took a necessary bath and finished kitty cleanup. After I ake my bed, I will lie in it.
-
May the fourth be with you.

TOD 2:
I forgot The Player in which he played himself.
-
George, here’s a good article on the Eyesight system. One possible remedy you could try yourself is to locate the cameras and wipe them off. They may be blocked by debris.

Thanks for the link, Rodzinski. I never thought about something physical being the cause, but I'll check that out...and still try to bring my car in for servicing.
-
I got a revised cast list for GREASE last night - after asking for it twice.....we are down to 36 people.....so we lost 10.
-
So, Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre is presenting a new production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (https://www.5thavenue.org/shows/2022-23/sweeney-todd/). It's a very modern reinterpretation with a multi-cultural cast, including the Beggar Woman being played by a legally blind artist.
-
Their website has a video of their Anthony singing "Johanna," with a little interview with the director on a local Seattle show. She (the director) mentions the original Christopher Bond play and talks about how Sondheim wrote this...and she never mentioned Hugh Wheeler, you know, who wrote the book WITH Sondheim! So, I commented:
Wonderful singing and I'd love to see this, but Stephen Sondheim didn't write this by himself. He ALWAYS acknowledged his book writers. I wish everyone else would, too. Sondheim co-wrote this with Hugh Wheeler, based on the original play by (the acknowledged) Christopher Bond.
-

You go, George.

My dream house now has to have a huge kitchen, a huge library, and a huge music room.
-
Okay...I called the dealer and spoke to the guy I've been dealing with about the error messages, and he said the EyeSight error message isn't a great concern because (like the article that Rodzinski linked to), that can be something physical or other factors can affect that. His concern is if/when the AT Oil Temp Light comes on. That didn't come on last night, so I don't need to worry so much until it does. Then, I'll call again!

Cool keychains from DR Vixmom. I have never seen them with names attached. I like the George Statue of Liberty. It is a very nice collection.

I am also glad I wasn't able to mail the one from Japan and will save it for another day.

The reason I couldn't send it is that I realize it needs better packaging than how I usually send them or it will arrive broken.

DR Rodzinski, that was an excellent moviegoing experience you related. Isn't it wonderful when the stars and planets align just right for something like that to happen so perfectly? - when a change in any single little factor would have altered the whole thing?
-
Bizarrely, I was actually aware while posting that response that I was including an anagram. I wonder how often that happens in casual writing. Not the being aware part, just having it happen.

Yes, DR ChasSmith, because as word of the movie got out, lots of people went in expecting a surprise, so they were trying to guess it the whole time. I'm so glad I got to view it without that baggage because my mind works overtime trying to figure things out. I don't know that I would have guessed it, but I would have been trying.

Sharry gave a heart wrenching tribute to DR TCB.
On Tuesday evening, the Graham Fire Dept. called us to notify that Tom Birkeland had passed away. We rushed to his house in disbelief, but indeed it was true. Our Uncle Tommy was no longer with us. The event was traumatic and the days that have followed have been numb and we are still in shock. Tom was a member of our family for over 40 years--he was a vital part of our lives, the theatre, holidays, trips, dinners,--all those times that create such fun, comfort, support and love. There is so much I can think of to say, and will probably do so at a later date, but for now I just miss him, thinking I will never hear his foolish "old jokes" or share the stage together or meet at Applebees for lunch. We are so fortunate for all he brought to our lives. He was genuinely witty and funny, very generous and a truly legendary actor. He will now live in our hearts and we are ever grateful for all the years and all we shared together. He was truly one of a kind. And I know he is reveling in all the glowing messages about him from all of you.
-
Good afternoon!
-
Hi Kevin.
-
I have a nice photo of Tom, except it keeps posting sideways.
-
He would probably be laughing at me.
-
Nice photo of Tom
-
Nice tributes to TCB in the notes and on these pages. I'm so glad I got to meet him in Las Vegas several years ago. I was there for a Barbra Streisand concert and he was with his friend (I can't think of his name---he passed away maybe a year after that). We met for dinner at California Pizza Kitchen in the Mirage Casino. Such a nice man with a terrific sense of humor!
-

I especially enjoyed him in It's A Wonderful Life.
I saw that, Guys and Dolls, a staged reading of a play at Tacoma Little Theatre that I don't remember the name of, and the other play about Florence Foster Jenkins (the one that Meryl Streep's movie wasn't based on) that he did with Sharry. :)
-
I think that those were all the shows that I saw Tom in.

Hi Jane. I saw the photo but now it's gone.
Is it back?

George, seeing Tom in Its A Wonderful Life with you made it an extra special experience.

Oh, DR Jane, today’s contribution was just the tip of the iceberg! We have a long way to go.
-
What time frame are you and DH Richard thinking, DR Ginny? Within the next several years?
DR Singdaw, it all depends on when the right house becomes available and how much work it needs to satisfy us. Our overall goal is to be settled by the time Richard is 80 (November, 2026). If it happens sooner, that’s OK.
-
Sounds good, DR Ginny.
-
DR Jane, thank you for sharing Sharry’s message and that great photo of DR TCB.

Oh, DR Jane, today’s contribution was just the tip of the iceberg! We have a long way to go.
Possibly our biggest downsize was in Ashland before putting the house up for sale.
-
Then it sold before going on the market, while we were still clearing things out.
-
Now I need to get rid of stuff we still brought with us because I couldn't let it go.

I think that DR Laura has the right idea. For the past week I’ve been thinking about ways to honor those I’ve lost. I find it’s different for each person. I wouldn’t have thought about a blood donation, but I think it’s an excellent choice.
Thank you, Laura.

I just purchased it through my Kindle. At least, that works. :)

I went to the podiatrist today to pick up my new orthotics. I knew right away there was a problem. I’d asked for 3/4 size and these were full-length. He said he’d made them soft because I’d said that my old ones were too firm. No! I want it firm! He must have confused me with another patient. I promised to try them for a few weeks, but they are simply not what I asked for. I have so many medical appointments that I do not welcome another one. They take a big chunk out of the day. I want more time for me, not more medical chores. Color me disappointed, because I like this podiatrist otherwise.

I am having trouble finding it. I really miss purchasing books directly on my tablet. I just figured out why I can't find it-lol
I just purchased it through my Kindle. At least, that works. :)
If you own a Kindle you can purchase on your Kindle. Since I only have the app I now have to purchase it online and wait for it to download to my app. The same for my Nook app. Some law forced the change.
-
Purchased!
And here it is!
It looks nice in your Kindle.
Thanks, Jane. The only think I don't like about this Kindle is that the battery life is CRAP!! :P

I hope you are surprised and the mistake turns out to be a good thing. It has to be frustrating.

The kindle book is now showing up.

Purchased.

The kindle book is now showing up.
Good!
-
Now it can take a couple of minutes or hours to arrive.
-
I am going to check my tablet to check.
-
I won't read it right now. I still have about 10% of the current book I'm reading: The Ink Black Heart, by Robert Galbraith (a.k.a. J.K. Rowling).
-
I have it :)
-
Now it can take a couple of minutes or hours to arrive.
Yikes!
-
I have it :)
Whew!
-
I also have to wait to read mine. I have two books checked out from the library, plus the challenge of reading books on my Kindle app due to them being a bit too bright to read in bed.
-
I have it :)
Whew!
Yes.
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
Yes, just got the e-mail that the Kindle thing is live.
-
It's on my Kindle, too.
-
Tomorrow is Friday.
-
Tomorrow is Cinco De Mayo.
-
Tomorrow is payday.
-
Tomorrow is a banner day, all the way around.
-
We are dispatching the dreaded page seven with alacrity.
-
I would be disappointed, DR Jeanne.
-
I might even be piqued.
-
One more.
-
Eight!
-
Page seven has been dispatched.
-
What is it, gefiltefish?
-
DR Singdaw, you missed a very important event tomorrow.
-
Tomorrow is DR George's birthday.
-
I will post my birthday greetings tomorrow.
-
DR Singdaw, you missed a very important event tomorrow.
Yikes! How could I do that?
-
I would rank that at the top of all those other things.
-
Thanks for the reminder! 8)
-
DR George will not be celebrating, however.
-
Or playing Phase 10.
-
He will be rehearsing.
-
I think rehearsing for a show he loves is a celebration.
-
I just heard good news about a possible holiday production of Moonshine & Mistletoe in Florida, outside Orlando.
YES!! This must happen.
-
Nice tributes to TCB in the notes and on these pages.
The one time I've eaten in a California Pizza Kitchen was in that very one, way back around 1994. I liked it, but the only food item I positively recall is the key lime pie, which was great.
-
That's a wrap for me.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Tomorrow is DR George's birthday.
I wasn't going to say anything. ::)
;)
-
DR George will not be celebrating, however.
Well, I'll at least be celebrating at lunch time with friends at the local Eagan's burger joint! ;D

-
Watched two motion pictures, so far. I think I did anyway.
-
Thanks to DR JANE for posting Sharry's tribute & the lovely photo.
-
Sounds like DR JEANNE's podiatrist doesn't know her foot from a hole in the ground!
-
Kindle congrats!
The book is out into the world.
Congrats to MR BK!

We blocked the first 27 pages tonight....well.....they keep handing us our props and telling us to make facial expressions - with our books in our hands.....
And of course many folks don't remember from one page to the next what they decided to do blocking wise.....so if I do the same thing I did.....they might not be there when I get there.....
-
Oh well...
-
I think it is coronation time......we shall see.....what the schedule is.
I was not quite two years old the last time they had one.....so this is probably the last one I have a chance to see....but then again....you never know.....
-
Page Nine.
-
I wonder what two movies MR BK watched?
-
I just heard good news about a possible holiday production of Moonshine & Mistletoe in Florida, outside Orlando.
That would be wonderful!
-
Best Mistletoe wishes, Elmore.
-
Jane thank you for posting Sharry’s message.

You're very welcome, Vixmom!

George went down a rabbit hole. Of course, if that rabbit hole happens to have the Kindle Preview Harvey there and if, perchance, he is reading it, we might, we MIGHT just forgive him.
-
We've been on this page for a DAMN long time.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
George went down a rabbit hole. Of course, if that rabbit hole happens to have the Kindle Preview Harvey there and if, perchance, he is reading it, we might, we MIGHT just forgive him.
I have read the first chapter!
-
Yes, I zonked out and have just now awakened.
-
Tomorrow, I shall be dining at lunch time with my friends Margo and Shelly at the local Eagan's where my friend Judy works.
-
I usually go there on Fridays, so why change now?
-
Tomorrow night will be a complete run-through of Sunday in the Park with George off book!
-
:o
-
That's NEVER a good run-through...and for this show, it's on a Friday night that's also a quasi-holiday...Cinco de Mayo!
-
Why would they do that?? ::)
-
But I wanted to be I the show, so I'll be at the rehearsal.
-
But...
-
...since...
-
...we...
-
.. are...
-
...so close, let's turn the page to...
-
TEN ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Read them for yourself.
-
I usually go there on Fridays, so why change now?
Why not, and why can I still post?
-
This topic is not locked yet! Tee hee.
