Good morning Elmore! I’m not sure if I’m up extra early or awake extra late. Vibes for cleanup and travel!
I also didn't realize that the song was written by Jule Styne for Hazel Flagg.
I feel a charlie horse coming on.

Happy Birthday, George!
Have a wonderful time playing in The Park! 😊
Happy Birthday, DR George !!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, DR GEORGE!!!
Do your colleagues celebrate birthdays at work, DR George?
Will you have a family celebration at another time?
What are your sister's chickens getting you for your birthday?
Happiest of birthdays to DR GEORGE.....who is having a rehearsal on his birthday which is the Cinco de Mayo AND a full moon.
Off book indeed.
DR George,

I miss the coziness of cats in bed. But I have instead a daughter who demands I lie with her until she sleeps, whereupon I pass out for a bit, wake up and scurry to the grownups bed. Then at some indeterminate point, probably soon, she’ll wander in here to sleep with us until morning.
So if I fall asleep now, I know I’ll be awakened shortly thereafter because she’s not quite big enough to climb into this bed without a lift.
No groaning at HHW.

Drat!
Now, if I have a dream like this I will KNOW why!!!!
What are your sister's chickens getting you for your birthday?
We can post in dual days since BK didn't lock yesterday yet.
It can be confusing.
Are you working on something new, DR George?
Does lifting popcorn from the bowl to your mouth count as exercise?
Looks like both soft and hardcovers have arrived, so I'll go get 'em in a little while.

Yes...always.
;)
My friend Gail is on a Panama Canal cruise that’s set to end tomorrow. She tested positive for covid today.

That's really too bad, DR elmore3003. Could they visit you at your apartment?
Does Keith use coconut oil, DR Jane, or something else?

Yes, I forgot to lock yesterday's topic - it's locked now.
Speaking of COVID, a little FYI just received:
The Public Health Emergency for COVID-19 ends on May 11, 2023. What does this mean for you?
Medicare will continue to cover COVID-19 vaccines at no cost.
You'll be able to get COVID-19 PCR and antigen tests with no out-of-pocket costs when ordered by a doctor.
Expanded telehealth services will continue through December 31, 2024.
More Info
After May 11, 2023, Medicare will no longer cover or pay for over-the-counter (OTC) COVID-19 tests. If you're enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you may have more access to tests depending on your benefits. Make sure to check with your plan.
On This Day in 1862, Mexico repelled the French forces of Napoleon III at the Battle of Puebla, a victory that became a symbol of resistance to foreign domination and is now celebrated as the holiday of Cinco de Mayo.
Margaritas were not involved, so far as historians can tell.
At least it was on the last day, and not the first day. Small consolation.
Thanks for answering all of my questions, DR Jane! :)
And, speaking of snack foods... :)
My friend Gail is on a Panama Canal cruise that’s set to end tomorrow. She tested positive for covid today.
At least she waited until the end of the cruise to get sick. Did she say what happens now? We were very concerned that Keith had covid vs a cold and weren't sure if we would be stranded in Japan.
To vixmom who asked about my family, and anyone else curious. We're all healthy now. MIL is out of the hospital, she and FIL are home and really leaning into the helpless mode, so I have to go by and make sure they eat and so forth. We are trying to quickly get them into an assisted living situation, because it is currently unsustainable over there.
Elmore, I finished The Great Sunflower last night. Beautiful, sad, powerful book.
Thanks for that, Jane!

She has a roomette on her train ride home. She’ll stay in there and wear her mask everywhere else.
~~~COPING VIBES~~~ for the Rodzinski clan!!!!!!
I can't imagine there's any other feeling like opening a package to find a hard copy of a book you've written.
In other news, we've heard from another festival we entered - I won Best Director of a Web Series and Sami won Best Actress in a Musical. These are probably all meaningless, but it's always nice to get.
:)
BREAKING NEWS from George Takei:
Justice Thomas and his wife Ginni have been using Harlan Crow's Netflix password for years!
I am about done in.....mowed the yards - front, back, & side - whew!
My brother just called. My nephew Paul wants to teach his son to mow the lawn. My brother offered me $100 for my current mower.
He knows I have been contemplating getting a self-propelled mower.
I told him I wouldn't take more the $50.....and so Monday I am going to get a self-propelled mower which will take a lot of the OOMPH out of the job.
So the cruise ship doesn't know, or care, if she is sick. Where is she getting the train from?
LOL DR JANE.
I like popcorn.....but my new lower partial plate does not.
I think they care. They’ve drugged her up and treated her. She just didn’t go into a lot of detail on a group text.
Also stopped at Walmart to check through the clearance plants. Found a healthy looking bougainvillea, two geraniums and some flower that’s really nice.
i'll buy Bud Cort's phone number.
Off to pick up dinner at the Canadian institution known as White Spot. I don't know what it compares to in the States. Perkins maybe. A little nicer.
The kids get their meals in cardboard pirate ships, each with a chocolate coin and a cup of ice cream.
I like popcorn.....but my new lower partial plate does not.
I have my fascinator all set for tomorrow morning's festivities.
If nothing else, it will undoubtedly improve my television reception.
It seems there are White Spot restaurants in the US. Find a location here.
I don’t see any in the U.S. :/
Resettlement vibes for the Rodzinski in-laws.
It's a changeable day.
Today was Needle Day (acupuncture), followed by a trip to the bank, Trader Joe's, and then stopping for some tacos.
At the podiatrist yesterday I mentioned Jrand's success with the Vick's on his toenails. The podiatrist said he'd heard anecdotal evidence of it, but there were no studies to back it up. I've been using the $35 stuff that I bought from his office on my wonky toenails. Maybe I'll switch to Vick's.
I’m so glad you mentioned that. I remembered someone had success with something on their toenails and wanted to recommend it to my in-laws. But I forgot the item! Now I know again.
Tea tree oil helped my own big toenail once, now that I think about it.
The first few minutes are hilariously grotesque.
Has John finally finished Sami???
I’m so glad you mentioned that. I remembered someone had success with something on their toenails and wanted to recommend it to my in-laws. But I forgot the item! Now I know again.
Does this mean you also need to pick some up for them?
Interesting. Do you remember how long it took?
Couple months.
'trust me, if I wanted an as*hole's opinion, I would've farted!'
Best quote tonight. From a story about a woman telling off her sister’s boyfriend.
I remember the part of the Kritzerland saga where BK discovered The Twilight Zone. Was neat to imagine how exciting that show must’ve seemed when it was brand new.
Is that quote from Cocaine Bear?
Thank you, dear Ron.
My vote is for peach blossoms.
DR VIXMOM the answer is C.
That's something you can figure out just walking down the street or going to the store.
Has it been a good birthday, George?
Does lifting popcorn from the bowl to your mouth count as exercise?
;D It does not count no matter how good it tastes.
That's really too bad, DR elmore3003. Could they visit you at your apartment?
Only a select few are currently welcome to enter this catastrophe of housekeeping!
Thanks for the history lesson. Truly as I never really think about the history of the holiday.
DR Rodzinski, in case you don't have it, this is the link to order free covid tests in Washington.
https://www.sayyescovidhometest.org/
Originally I could order two boxes, now it is only one box.
Not only was DR Jrand72 egregiously overlooked in the Tony nominations, but his ticket to the Coronation was lost in the mail, as well.
Not wanting to call him, just actually want to take over his phone number.
Of course, I'd probably have to call him to propose this.
If I wish DR George a happy Cinco de Mayo does that mean I've wished him a happy birthday, too?
Just to be sure,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DR GEORGE!!
HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO, too!
George, I'm very sorry to hear about the troubles with your new car. I hope they are fixed soon and remain fixed.
You can’t spell “gratuitous” without “g” for George.
Again - HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DR George!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GEORGE!
I hope it was a wonderful day!
I was looking at old records at the in-laws and found a 3-lp Croatian operetta called “Mala Floramye” by an Ivo Tijardović, a composer who became part of the anti-Mussolini resistance in WW2.
If you want a hint of what I'm talking about, a simple visit to the imdb will tell you - over on the right where it says User Reviews - under that it says User Ratings - take a look and let me know what your guesses are. If you want to bolster it, head over to Amazon, click on details then read reviews then look at the star ratings and tell me if it looks familiar, kind of like what you just saw on the imdb. Then report back.
By an Ivo Tijardović? You mean there's more than one??
;)
