Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Sami and sheet music, and now it is time for you to post until the sheet music reading cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SURGE!
-
Notes absorbed. Not as yet Rodzinski’d.
😊
-
I just listened to Yngve Sköld's "Berceuse" with violin (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfiRMY5QRIg) and it was quite lovely.
-
Now, I'm listening to Yngve Sköld's "Berceuse" for Wind Orchestra (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucrJhwUWZBQ).
-
My glasses are all better.
-
I grabbed both of those performances - it's so pretty.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Another laundry day. It would have been yesterday, but Monday's health crises took priority. It's irritating me because it's eating into my time to work on the ballet score.
-
Yep!
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Richard and I are going to look at 2 houses today, that “are old, but have potential.”
Translation: they need a lot of work.

Thanks, DR George!
-
Good morning, all.

Slept fairly well. I remember a work dream at the beginning and I said to myself, I don’t want a work dream. The rest is a blank.

Glad George could fix his glasses

Good luck with houses Ginny!

I expect I’ll be mostly E&T for the next few days since I’m going to be staying with my friend.
-
I’ll try and pop in occasionally

But I’ll come back with a full report when I do get back

-
Good morning, all.
-
I am here for about half a minute because I'm getting ready to go to the dentist.
-
Yep!
Excellent! Most excellent!
-
So when I get back, I need to get a couple of errands out of the way, then I'll spend the afternoon ketchuping on laundry and other things around the house. Then I need to work on the music for the next two (2) gigs which are (1) Fri/Sat and (2) Mon/Tues.

DAMS VIBES~~~ for DR ChasSmith!!!!!!
-
Oh! I saw that DR Jrand72 had asked me yesterday about audition songs.
I should have at least a semi-interesting answer to that, so let me think back over the two sets of auditions I've played in the past few weeks, and when I settle down for a bit this afternoon or evening I'll see what I have that's worth telling.

We are blocking the last 23 pages of Act One tonight.
-
I shall look forward to what DR CHAS SMITH has to say about auditions.

I got a card in the mailbox yesterday that said the mail carriers are collecting food for local food pantries this coming Saturday.
I shall put a small bag of goods out.....

From DR Rodzinski,
Jane, give Jose a hug from me when you see him!
I think I can manage to do that :)

Nice photos George.

George, you must have been very relieved when you were finally able to log into your account.
-
George, thanks for reminding me to check my glasses to see if the screws look tight.

I have learned it is a good idea to do that before traveling.
-
It doesn't insure my glasses will stay together, just puts the odds in my favor.

Wednesday morning greetings! Richard and I are going to look at 2 houses today, that “are old, but have potential.”

Obviously I will not be able to put a bag out this year.

Laundry is finished and put away. My body aches all over, and I am lying down for an hour or so.

What’s the difference between PayPal and Venmo, if anyone here could explain?

I just posted on Facebook George Santos is the metaphor for the entire GOP: corrupt and rotten to the core.
It was removed for violating community standards.

The GOP violates community standards.
Facebook deliberately oppresses the 1st Amendment.

Truth is not, apparently, always allowed on Facebook.

I'm off to the airport.
I can hear the main title to the soundtrack just by reading this!!!
-
What’s the difference between PayPal and Venmo, if anyone here could explain?
Can't explain. But I theoretically have a Venmo account because someone wanted to use it to pay me for something (believe it or not, I think it was auditions) over three years ago. Didn't use it after that, but then at some point they (Venmo) gave me $5 as an incentive to use it, so I wonder if the $5 is still there.
Anyhoo, I do know it's all the rage now. I'll have to look into it and check my own status.
-
Back from the dentist, where the only thing crying out in pain was my wallet.
All I had done today was fairly easy and inexpensive as these things go -- getting the 40+ year old crown out of there and putting on a temporary -- but it's the coming "restorative" work that'll be the killer. Of the wallet, I mean. The wallet killer.

Glad George could fix his glasses

It is. This is the first time that I've performed in that space.

The college also has a black box theater, and I've been in several shows there, but not this main stage. :)
-
Nice photos George.

Rep. George Santos charged with 13 counts of fraud, financial crimes (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/rep-george-santos-charged-with-13-counts-of-fraud-financial-crimes/ar-AA1b0g08?OCID=ansmsnnews11)
;D
-
He faces seven counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, one count of theft of public funds, and two counts of lying to the House of Representatives on financial forms. If convicted, Santos faces a maximum sentence of 20 years for the most serious charge, which is wire fraud. If he is found guilty of multiple counts and sentenced to prison time, a judge would decide if he would serve those sentences concurrently or consecutively.

"Republicans on the hill are divided"
Right there that tells you all you need to know about the GOP today.
-
I'm not a Venmo expert, but in talking to people, they seem to like it better than PayPal. I don't know if you have to make an account or not to use it - you don't at PayPal (PayPal, by the way, bought Venmo). So far, it seems to be working fine. If you do make an account it's really easy. I had to make one a year ago to get a payment and it was a snap.

Thank you, all, for the house-hunting vibes. We have eliminated one from consideration, but we’re going back next week for a closer look at the other. Meanwhile, Ashley says she won’t show it to anyone else.

For ASK BK Day:
BK, who is the guy singing the bonus track ("Everything Is Gonna Be All Right") on the album for Welcome to My World? iTunes doesn't have any track information.
I think this backing track is the infamous one that caused you trouble during shooting.
-
That is good, DR Ginny. So if that house ends up being THE ONE, that would rapidly move up your timetable?
-
TOD:
Another ASK BK question:
Is this one of the Bagley albums that Kritzerland has reissued?
-
That is good, DR Ginny. So if that house ends up being THE ONE, that would rapidly move up your timetable?
Kind of, DR Singdaw. We’ve always intended to make a move like this before Richard turns 80 (in 3 years). But we’ve gotten fed up with home maintenance and decided to act sooner rather than later. With all that needs to be done to the house we’re considering, I’d say we have until Thanksgiving - if not longer.

DR Jrand72:
BEST audition song this past weekend: "In My Dreams" from Anastasia. I don't know the show, but that's a beautiful song. I also like another one ("Journey to the Past") that's been placed in front of me recently, but not as much as this one.
There were two WORST songs: 1. Some hideous thing that was sort of disco-ish that was poorly copied, poorly marked, tough to sightread, and tough to follow the singer in ... because it was so poorly marked with her silly little cuts. An unbeatable combination. But even beyond that, it was just a crappy song. I'm sorry I don't even know what it was. I'll try to find out.
2. "Try to Remember" - brought in by a gentleman who's playing El Gallo a few towns over, as we speak. I'm supposed to see that production in a week and a half. But now I'm scared. Very scared. This is a guy who gets cast in a lot of mediocre productions (and he might very well be cast this time because, as usual, they're short on men), but I've never been able to stand his particular brand of mediocrity. Anyway, I wasn't surprised that he would choose the song, but I was stunned at the truly crappy sheet music arrangement he brought in. Again, this one was so poorly photocopied that you could hardly read the song title at the top of the page. And then he sang it just as horribly as it looked. It was stunning, and I was stunned.
These lucky winners were selected from only the dozen or so people who've shown up so far. It's been a low turnout. If I'm available when they have another round of auditions, who knows? Some lucky soul might stand a good chance of snatching one of the above two prizes.
-
Thank you for that entertaining read, DR ChasSmith, though purchased as it were at such an awful cost. (Candide, anyone?)

DR Chas, have you heard the song “Once Upon A December”?
It’s from Anastasia, and sung beautifully by Liz Callaway.

Nice to hear a 26-piece orchestra.
I was able to see the original cast as well as the L.A. production with George Hearn.
Len Cariou’s final exit gave me chills, as did many other scenes.

Singdaw (and anyone else), have you ever been to https://castalbums.org/ ? You can create a profile and keep track if all the musical theater/theatre/theeder recordings* that you own, want to own, or just want to know about. I've been using if for years, and have even contributed to the database...especially BK's Kritzerland recordings. :)
*Not operas or classical music recordings, though.

Not to get political (again) or anything, but another judge strikes again...in a good way (again):
Trump prohibited from posting evidence in hush money case to social media, judge rules (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-barred-posting-evidence-hush-money-case-social-media-rcna83444)
The judge largely sided with a request from the Manhattan district attorney's office about what Trump can publicly say about certain aspects of the case.

Q; When is "7" not a lucky number?
A: When it is an HHW page number.

BK does not care for page seven.

It's true.

I myself don't mind a page 7. But BK does mind it.

Nobody ever says "It isn't what it is."

Or "It is what it isn't."

Did you all rush to youtube and watch Light Fantastic from 1964?

I'm a big surprised at the lack of sheet music interest here, but I'm guessing it's just not something that people need. I posted on Facebook but the algorithms are killing it - only four likes when my Sami posts routinely get a large number. It's because I accidentally posted the link in my description - I fixed it quickly but by then the algorithms had already done their dirty business. So, I'm thinking about nuking the post and redoing it later.

NOW, I will read Preview Harvey without being interrupted by another book.

So, now you're free to read Preview Harvey?
Yes!!

HOWEVER, I can't start reading it right now because my other Kindle that has Preview Harvey on it, is totally out of power. ::)

So, I'll have to start reading it...later.
When is later?

-
Everyone's talking about charging stations for electric cars, but what about charging stations for our KINDLES? 8)

Kind of a boring day, save for one nice thing early on and food. Ubereats had their 40% off thing and they're the only delivery service that will do stuff that's over the hill - so I did Daughter's Deli again and got something I've been craving all week - a sky-high pastrami with cole slaw and 1000-Island dressing. The last time I had it the pastrami was a bit fatty for my taste but I couldn't find where to leave instructions for lean. Thankfully, today I found it - it's on the checkout page - so I specified lean and extra 1000-Island on the side and all was well. It was spectacularly good.
-
Otherwise, kind of a boring day.
-
Have I mentioned it was kind of a boring day.
-
I confess, I was a little bored.
-
I'll take boring over high-anxiety.
-
And I'll take one of those pastrami sandwiches, too.
-
While I'm at it.
-
Because why should we withhold such things from ourselves?
-
I ask you.
-
And have asked.

Asked and answered.
-
What am I, a lawyer all of the sudden?

One more.
-
Yes, boring is MUCH better than the usual stress of the last few months.
-
Nine!

Page nine.
-
A great title for a musical.
-
Hardcover is on its merry way. As soon as I get it and ascertain it's fine, then I place the book order.
-
BK, I am assuming that when you were working in New York City regularly, you occasionally visited the classic delis.
-
For those classic deli sandwiches.
-
That feed three.
-
With six you get eggroll, but with three you get pastrami.

I'm on my way right now, but I don't think I've seen the sheet music Facebook posts.
In my book (Webster's Second Ed.), the whole FB feed thing is hugely flawed. I see way too many posts over and over and over, and then days later I'll see those same ones pop up yet again - with absolutely no new activity in them.

Lucky #250

My quantity of posts is increasing. But my quality is rapidly decreasing.

Is that the law of diminishing returns?

Or "It is what it isn't."
As opposed to Mark Twain on Wagner: his music isn’t as bad as it sounds.

I have tripped the light fantastic once or twice.
I’ve tripped over the light fantastic and my own two feet on occasion.

Finally did laundry after more than two weeks.

Or millstone.

I can’t count.

But you can post. [click to embiggen]

And that must count for something!

Okay, I'm on Venmo, and I guess I'm the only one with these questions:
I'm wondering why - in all the acres of white space on my computer screen - I do not see the titles I'd selected to buy, and which payment source is being used. I can go to settings and click on one of my cards, but there's no confirmation of that choice, and it doesn't take me anywhere. There's no listing of the items I chose on the SAMI site. It looks like people are typing their desired titles in the "what's this for?" box, but haven't we already selected those? Color me confused.
-
I’ll tackle it in the morning. Maybe try it on the phone and see what it looks like.
-
Color me confused.
It's my primary color. I go through life in a cloud of it.

Bad Cinderella is closing.

I’m shocked, I tell you, shocked.

You have to write the title as a note, even though you selected a title earlier. At least, that is what it looked like I had to do, so I did it that way.

Bad Cinderella is closing.
They kind of self-owned that when they changed the title.
-
I have some kitchen clean-up to attend to.
-
Attend the tale of dirty pots.
-
And then I shall collapse into bed.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Congrats to DR JOHN G on his millstone.
-
Tonight we blocked the last 23 pages of Act One.
I knew what was coming - so I memorized my lines for the last six pages.....because.....
....this is the point in the play where I water is thrown on me....THROWN in my face.....so as everyone else was struggling with books - I was happily drenched.....
So there was that.....and I had a very appreciative audience because I took it BIG!
-
No photos....maybe tomorrow night when we run through it again....and again....and again.
-
Thank you for the congratulations.

Tonight, we had to answer questions of our act two characters, such as "my greatest fear is..." or "odd habits I have are..." or "my likes and dislikes include...".
::)
-
Fortunately, the answers didn't need to be shared, they were just for us to think about and ponder.
-
I have three line in act two...there is no point to think about, let alone answer these questions.
-
In my humble opinion (IMHO in Internet lingo).
-
As I said, setting up the Venmo was weird, but once you understand it it's easy. You fill in the form on the Sami site and choose your titles. That gets forwarded to us directly. Then you go to Venmo and just add up what you've ordered and that's they amount you pay - no need to fill in anything on the Venmo site at all, you just pay.
-
Good night, all.
-
George, what IS your character’s greatest fear?
-
George, what IS your character’s greatest fear?
That I actually have to answer that damned question. :P
-
;)
-
Still on page ten???
-
Again?
-
When?
-
Then?
-
Ben.
-
Zen.
-
I must write some notes.
-
Here they are: A-flat, B, D-sharp, C.
-
Whilst I write the notes, watch Mal Z. Lawrence - I saw him in Catskills on Broadway - the late Nick Redman and I attended and this guy was so funny we were crying and couldn't breathe. This was a portion of his act. https://youtu.be/QYUTwHBN89I

PAGE ELEVEN DANCE!!
-
I am enjoying Preview Harvey. :)
-
Can't wait to see the physical book.
-
Always glad to hear of enjoyment!
-
And we got to page eleven.
-
Page twelve has been out of reach for a few days.
-
It really has.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Not necessarily in that order.
-
And now you can read them.
