And the word of the day is: CORDIAL!
And the word of the day is: CORDIAL!
I don’t usually have a cordial before breakfast.
My arm is much better
ps - I would totally eat a cream cheese olive sandwich.
It's cloudy today.....not sure if we shall see any rain.
My arm is much better - so we shall see.
I like a shoo-fly pie, but ya had to go to Amish country to get those.
Wonderful photos. Thanks for sharing, DR George!

DR George, thanks for posting the photos. I am still mourning DR TCB, and I wish that both DRs Jose and MBarnum would return to HHW, And DR Ben, tppm while I'm at it.
George, wonderful photos and memories. Where was the one with M Barnum taken?
Confession: I never heard of a chess pie until a couple weeks ago on here. Now I must find one.
A chess pie and a cherry cordial would start my morning right.

BTW, if you like that kind of thing, a sandwich to die for is an authentic New Orleans muffaletta. The olive spread on those is out of this world.

To die for, I tell you.
LOVE a cream cheese olive sandwich. But there's no history of it in my family. I originally discovered that flavor sensation by ordering an everything bagel with olive & pimiento spread at an excellent (and now-defunct) bagel jernt here in town. Later I started buying their spread. But that's a silly expense because I realized that to make it yourself you only need to dice the olives and stir them into cream cheese. So I did that for a while. Then one day I was famished for that taste but I had no bagels, so I took out whatever bread was here, spread the cream cheese, sliced a bunch of olives in half lengthwise, laid them out on the spread, and it was out of this world fantastic. You can also sprinkle a little extra brine on the thing for even more yummity flavor and moistness.
For me it would be worth buying a large jar of olives, dicing the whole thing up, and having it at the ready. Or just make the spread again, but make it even denser in olives than you'd normally find in a prepared spread.
I added almonds.

DR MBARNUM posted on Facebook this week, so perhaps he is inching his way back to HHW.
My friend Jim Green passed away about an hour ago.....I will be delivering his eulogy sometime this week.
It is exactly as he requested it to be.....which will please some and disappoint others.
The hydrangeas I paid $12 for earlier this spring are now selling for $26 on this day before Mother’s Day.
I survived Costco and the supermarket.
I survived Costco and the supermarket.
I too survived Costco! Then the line at the border to get back into my town was insane, so we detoured to the in-laws’ place.
He retired from working in the office of the State Attorney General and returned part time to his former job - at the local funeral emporium.
I believe I have told the story before about his young wife Melissa. She never wore makeup and was just a country gal.
Jim said he offered to help her do her makeup, but she wouldn't lie down on the bed so he could do it.
It took me awhile to laugh.....but then I couldn't stop.
I hope DR GEORGE enjoys sitzing today.

I just watched a video online of a southern gal preparing cinnamon rolls.
She popped open 2 cans of pre-made cinnamon rolls and laid them out in a baking pan.
She then poured heavy whipping cream all over them to a depth of a least a half inch.
She then prepared a mixture of melted butter, brown sugar, salt, and more cinnamon, and poured all of that over it all.
She then baked it off.
After coming out of the oven, she then drizzled the included icing over the top of it all.

Do you buy frozen food at Costco?

DR Jrand72, PBS will probably repeat the Broadway tribute many times.
I am waiting to win the lottery.

Yes, some. Had to store it here at the in-laws. An option we won’t have much longer.
Nice photo, George!
DR Jane, where will you be on Mother’s Day?
Are you flying home tomorrow?
I hope Freyja is feeling much better.
DR DR Iris - this was a general music store that carries Steinway, Kawai, and Roland. The rep said that they couldn't carry both Yamaha and Roland; they had to choose.
The digital piano was a Roland.
It's almost worth taking up the craft of stained glass to be able to make this outhouse.
Just solidified the June Kritzerland show and it's going to be something very special.
Glad yours went well, DR George.

Heard an hour ago that my friend Angie lost her battle with pancreatic cancer. They had warned her a few months ago something wasn’t right but they weren’t calling it cancer. Then recently they used the word and she went quickly.
I met Angie at church shortly after moving to San Antonio. Since then, I was a pallbearer at her father’s funeral. I was at her son’s funeral during the pandemic. Now Angie’s gone.
Nice photo, George!
Ditto.
Here’s something that wouldn’t happen today. When you returned to your car after enjoying the Tommy Bartlett Water Show, your car had a Tommy Bartlett Water Show bumper sticker plastered to it whether you wanted it or not.
