Well, you've read the notes, the notes went down a rabbit hole, and now it is time for you to post until the rabbit hole cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PROCELEUSMATIC!
Smoke on your pipe and put that in.
-
I have come across quite a few treasures on the Internet Archive. :) I haven't specifically searched much, just been sent/found links to specific items of interest.
-
I ended up at an emergency clinic. They’re going to send me home with a muscle relaxant.

A long, five-syllable word for four short syllables. Got it.

Oh, no! :o

One movie that I found on Internet Archive was Song of the South. This is what I posted on June 12, 2020:
Another movie that is vilified now is Disney's Song of the South. I'm sure that it's complete revisionist history, but it wasn't supposed to be an accurate representation of the Reconstruction era. It's a story about a boy and his experiences with a black storyteller who tells his stories. I actually bought a UK PAL VHS tape about 20 years ago and was able to have it converted to a US NTSC VHS tape, and I made a DVD of that. It looks pretty good for all the converting that was done. But recently, someone was (someones were?) able to create a Blu-ray quality version that anyone can download here:
https://archive.org/details/SongOfTheSouthHD/
You can watch it online, but the downloadable MATROSKA file (under the DOWNLOAD OPTIONS) is 22 GB and looks incredible. If you click on the SHOW ALL under the DOWNLOAD OPTIONS, there are more options.
-
And my post right after that one was:
If other movies like Gone With the Wind and The Birth of a Nation, especially, are also so horrible, why are they continuously being re-released and watched? People are able to put those into historical perspective...why not Song of the South?
-
I’m home. Butt shot full of drugs. Hopefully they will. I’ll know in about five more minutes.

Oh, and the Tony Awards are sort of back on for June 11.
In what format I cannot say.
We shall see.
-
George, I think your show opens next Friday night.
Very exciting!
In case I’m not around much this week, break a leg!
-
This was my first Mother’s Day without my mother.
It was a tough day, as was the entire week.
I hope time really does heal everything.
-
Have a great weekend, everyone.
😊
-
Relax them muscles!
-
I went to the Comedy Store and The Improv on numerous occasions.
One night, in probably 1977, the most unforgettable, brilliant, unknown comic did the most amazing set. It was the then unknown Robin Williams.
Genius.
This was before Mork & Mindy.
-
On Thursday nights, every week some time around 1999-2002, Drew Carey and the entire cast of “Whose Line Is It Anyway”, would work out their routines at The Improv.
We knew someone on their staff, so we always knew when they would be scheduled to perform.
Elyse and I rarely missed those Thursday nights. They were always brilliant, and so kind to us.
The audience laughed uproariously.
-
I can’t remember what day the topic of The Comedy Store came up.
I think it was recently.
-
Enjoy your weekend.
😊
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR Iris, I don't believe time heals everything. It certainly dulls things and forgets what it wants, but it never heals. A word, a sight, a melody, a scent, a task . . . can bring back a memory of a lost loved one, and before you know it, you're on the floor in a flood of tears. I was once in a used record and CD shop when a song was played, and I held onto a bin of CDs trying and failing to not fall apart. I couldn't get out of that store gracefully or quickly enough.
-
I slept very poorly last night, and the fault was my little boy Thatch. Who decided he wanted to sleep in my usual spot. Well, I couldn't move him because I love him, but I could never get comfortable. The neuropathy in my feet did nothing to help. Sometime after a bathroom break around 3:30 Thatch moved and I slipped into my old spot. When he returned, he took his old place next to me.
-
After that, I did have a dream I sort of remember. It was another one about working at Goodspeed. The show was up and running, the rehearsal space and my room were being cleaned out, and I had removed my belongings, orchestra scores, and books. An old college friend I haven't seen in over fifty years showed up and visited with others but ignored me. Then I was riding back to NYC in a car driven by two ladies I did not know on a 13-hour ride! Only I had none of my belongings and no idea where they might be.
-
This, like many of the days to come, is a ballet day. I must finish it bySeptember since Josh and Encores! have a big job for the two of us.

That's exciting, DR elmore3003.

Good morning, all.

It sounds like DR John G. could use a No-Pain modern major miracle right about now.
-
Friday.
It is a Friday. A blessed Friday. I should even be able to come up with a decent Friday TOD today.
-
I ended up falling asleep early last night instead of watching something fun. That won't happen tonight.
-
I've heard people refer to the Internet Archive any number of times, but I've never taken the trouble to find out how to access it or how I should comport myself once I'm there.
It definitely sounds like its own rabbit hole, though.
-
Just enjoyed a light breakfast consisting of a thick slice of Stew Leonard's Key Lime Pound Cake, and coffee (of course). The key lime is all in the frosting, but their pound cakes are moist and delicious, and there's plenty of good, amazingly authentic flavor. I was actually tasting the sweetened condensed milk and the key limes, the combination of which were doing a little dance of joy on my tongue.
Before this morning, I would not have been inspired to say that pound cake is a favorite thing. But what a wonderful vehicle for flavor delights such as this one. I will for sure be back for more, and I'm equally sure my waistline will be tagging right along.
-
In general, all of the baked goods at Stew's are a good step above those at typical supermarkets.
Breads, cookies, bagels (made right there the authentic way), etc., all reliable. And in some cases, what they don't make themselves, such as actual key lime pie (speaking of which), they bring in high quality independently made ones.
-
Well, this is interesting.
I just got told of a one-time reading of the play Steel Magnolias that two friends will be in, at the Mark Twain Library in Redding, Connecticut on Sunday afternoon. It would be great just to see the two women I know in this, but look who's directing: https://bit.ly/3OpsoLL

I don't really know Steel Magnolias. I vaguely remember seeing the film version. But I'm sloppy in my remembering things about it, because I always conflate it with the film Fried Green Tomatoes which also concerns a group of women in the South. Not that I remember all that much about that one, either. I do remember basically liking it.
Anyhoo, I shall enjoy ketchuping with the women of Steel Magnolias, and I will take the opportunity to say hello to its director. :)

I ended up at an emergency clinic. They’re going to send me home with a muscle relaxant.
Take it easy. Do NOT do anything that requires you to do more than put one foot in front of the other to get from one place to another.
Muscle relaxants can be so-o-o nice, but they won't improve your sense of balance.

Thanks DR Singdaw.

From Jrand:
I hope you like your new case DR JANE.
Thanks. I ordered it from Amazon so it will be easy to return if I don't like it.
-
From Jrand:
I remember vividly that the Artistic Director of IRP used to tie up the rights to many plays just coming available for professional production....saying she "might" do them.....so that my friend Bryan could not do them at his theatre.
And of course most of them she never did.
Mean lady.
-
DR Jrand, from what I could tell people liked Libby Appel. We learned to avoid the plays she was involved with.

TOD (Part 1?)
The first thing that will be in my Blu-ray/DVD player this evening is something I would have thought I'd seen years ago, but now I'm not so sure. I saw a couple of references to it recently, and was surprised to discover that I didn't own a copy, so I looked to see what's available. The only thing I found (at least domestically, I didn't look around elsewhere) is a Warner Archive DVD, which was delivered yesterday. It's got an apparently famous Bernard Herrmann score, but at a glance it looks like I have no recording of it, and I don't have any copy of the score itself. I have no idea what to expect of it, and I'm not looking at reviews or anything. It is: The Night Digger.
-
The Night Digger - that used to be my nickname in college.

DR singdaw I got the Lost Horizon gatefold LP one month. when I forgot to send my card into the record club.

I am playing a CD of hard to find 45's....and just lip synched to Ricky Nelson singing "It's Up To You."
"The Limbo Rock" was a big hit with the parakeets.
-
I don't know what shape the record is in, but I have that weird gatefold LP of Lost Horizon.
-
I also ordered a CD of the greatest hits from DOT records....I loved their label....it didn't hurt that Gale Storm AND Pat Boone recorded for DOT!
-
DR CHAS SMITH I'm not sure I ever took mine out of the folder.
-
Yes it is weird.....not a full gatefold....kinda chintzy with only a single layer of cardboard on the one side....
-
And it's confusing which way is up. Did the record go in the "top" instead of the side or the inside?
-
Exactly! How would a drunk person ever put it back on the shelf?
-
Oh no....here comes Roy Orbison.....that man's singing makes me very emotional....especially after the vodka and strawberry juice I just had.
-
And for those who think it's too early for vodka...I will remind you...
it IS May!
-
I think I will listen to the HOW TO SUCCEED.....London cast album from Kritzerland....it certainly has its pleasures!
-
No rehearsal tonight so let joy be unconfined!
-
Or unrefined as the case may be.
-
DR VIXMOM did you say you saw Gray...something on Broadway?
What did you think? I am getting mixed reports on it.
-
Thank you DR ELMORE.
-
Lost Horizon was a weird type of cover with a flap that came down about 1/3 of the way from top, and yeah, the record went in the top, under that flap.
On Bell Records.

I still have my mom's Pat Boone "April Love" 45 on Dot Records with the colorful logo. Also his song from "Friendly Persuasion."

When mentioning great Bacharach songs the other week, I forgot his involvement with Roberta Flack's "Making Love." Not to be confused with her "Feel Like Making Love."

A beautiful day here in the exclave. Canadians have a long weekend due to it being Victoria Day on Monday. So they will descend upon us like so much fish, making for long lines at the border if we leave. Soon it will be like this on weekends all through summer.

Whereas, if this was - ahem - a certain kind of movie, you would find that plumbers arrive about two minutes after they're called.
ChasSmith, I don't know what - ahem - certain kinds of movies you've been watching, but in the - ahem - certain kinds of movies that I watch, the plumbers arrive almost instantly...no waiting whatsoever! ;)
-
:))
-
;D
-
Whew!! Page Eight has arrived!!
-
I think they should remake Triangle of Sadness in 3-D.
-
It would be Tetrahedron of Sadness.
-
Pyramid of Sadness would also work.
-
If they made a movie about my early experiences with math, it would be Sadness of Trinomials.
-
But no one would watch that.
-
Least of all, me.
-
We can start a movement. Meh too.
:D
-
Ah that's interesting DR RODZINSKI.
Because one of Shirley Jones' numbers in APRIL LOVE is like a dress rehearsal for Ann-Margret's "How Lovely to Be A Woman" in BYE BYE BIRDIE.....both directed by George Sidney.

Gimme. Now.
-
The package I sent to my mother for her birthday, for which I paid over $15 for Priority Mail, and which was promised for delivery on Tuesday, is... lost in the system.
The tracking number was showing "out for delivery" on Monday. Since then, it has only been showing "in transit."
Her birthday is Monday, so there's still time. But I am not optimistic.
-
That looks amazing, DR John G.
-
Just don't make it for someone and send it via US Mail.
-
The "unwinding" of the pandemic continuous coverage provisions is causing quite the stir in state circles. And even some panic. And won't be fully accomplished, at least in MN, until a year from now. 1.5 million households have to have their eligibility redetermined by hand.
-
The new car does not have a CD player. >:(
I was surprised, but very happy that my new car came with a CD player. :)
-
In many cases, the folks have moved and we have no way to contact them. And in most cases, the household composition has changed, as well as all of their income information.
-
I don't use it very much, but I do use it!
-
Not the song I mean....but I always loved Mr Pat Boone's voice....and that guy should have gotten a close up, too....cause something was happening.

-
But hey, it's job security, I suppose.
-
A free trial of SiriusXM is offered, which I activated. But I don't listen to it enough, I don't think, to pay a monthly fee for it.
I got the free trial, but eventually I was offered the full service for only $5.99 a month for two years! That offer, I accepted!
-
April love is the best kind of love.
-
Wow, DR George - that's pretty great.
-
April love is the best kind of love.
Excepting maybe the love of a chocolate layered flan.
-
Delivery vibes for DR singdaw.
-
The Wicker Man - that is the story of my life.
-
Thanks, DR Jrand72.
-
NINE!
-
Many hands make light work.
-
Unless you're doing the opening number of Pippin.
-
In which case there are lots of hands.
-
But they just sit there looking pretty.
-
And don't get your gloves dirty.
-
Because that black light will show everything.
-
So, DR Jrand72, which blonde does Pat Boone choose?
-
https://www.tastingtable.com/1287100/decadent-layered-chocolate-flan-recipe/
Gimme. Now.
Oh, my goodness, that looks good!
-
I know: he goes for the tall guy in the middle, doesn't he?
-
Well Shirley Jones of course DR singdaw!
-
That's the plot twist.
-
RICHARD III is on Great Performances tonight.
-

Her birthday is Monday, so there's still time. But I am not optimistic.
Yikes! :o Hopefully, it'll be found in time!!
-
Shirley looks quite stunning there.
-
Gosh now I want to watch the whole movie again....saw it first at the drive in when I was about 8 years old....
-
Pat Boone took a lot of guff, mainly for his clean image and approach to covering rock and roll, I guess, but indeed he had a great voice.
-
Pyramid of Sadness would also work.
I prefer Mel Tillis and his Pyramid of Cans.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOph3dJ3Ra8
-
I need to explore this Internet Archive thingie.
-
Yes indeed she does DR RODZINSKI and she is even more stunning in her "strip" number......I think you see a bit of it in the preview which should be on YouTube.
-
Sing it, Mel!
-
I can't find the clip - but in the late 90's Pat was on some talk show and flipped off his toupee when he was doing a rope trick.....
-
LOL funny clip DR RODZINSKI.
-
I always thought so DR singdaw.
-
https://www.tastingtable.com/1287100/decadent-layered-chocolate-flan-recipe/
Gimme. Now.
It looks delicious. It also looks like it is a bit on the sweet side.

Oh here it is.

Lawrence Welk recorded for Dot Records until he decided he wanted his own label, which he went ahead and created, with the founder of Dot Records, one Randall "Randy" Wood. The label on which all your Lennon Sisters, Guy and Ralna, and Myron Floren records would be released? Ranwood.

Vibes it arrives in time for her birthday. I haven't sent anything priority mail in a long while. It never was all that trustworthy, at least that it would arrive in two days. This is exceptionally late.
-
Just don't make it for someone and send it via US Mail.
;D
-
Ranwood and the Welk family eventually bought and owned the rights to the Vanguard jazz/folk label, among other oddities.
-
And THAT's one to grow on. PAGE 10!!
-
Ranwood.
I see what they did there!
-
Well Shirley Jones of course DR singdaw!
;D
-
I can't find the clip - but in the late 90's Pat was on some talk show and flipped off his toupee when he was doing a rope trick.....
:o
-
Because Warner Bros film star Tab Hunter had such a big hit on the Dot label, Jack Warner got angry and wanted the WB back in the record biz. Thus was Warner Bros. Records founded.
-
Ranwood.
I see what they did there!
I knew you'd be all over it.
-
Oh here it is.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BgPLynPXjc
:)) He did handle it well.
-
Warner Bros. first big hit single? "Kookie, Kookie, Lend Me Your Comb."
-
Bruce, I will try tomorrow. You know I hate writing reviews and I have been very tired since returning home. When I leave reviews I usually write them as notes to myself.
-
Great clip. He does handle it well. And was then-currently performing in The Will Rogers Follies at... The Mel Tillis Theatre.
-
Does anyone still wear a hat?
-
I just got an update from the US Postal service.
-
Not really. ;)
-
Remember that the address you write on a USPS delivery slip or letter is merely a suggestion.
-
I was a charter member of the Teens Who Are Blotto for DOT-TO Club.
-
There was a band, Blotto, who achieved early MTV airplay with their classic song, "I Wanna Be a Lifeguard."

Watching the making of … documentary for The Slipper and the Rose
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Hello Jeanne!
-
Twice this afternoon I almost threw this iPad across the room. The touch screen is too sensitive! I’m scrolling and it thinks I’m clicking. $&*#$&( iPad!!! We used to have standards for good programming practice, but I don’t think any of today’s programmers have even heard of them. Grrrrr!!
-
Hi, Rodzinski.
-
I take it that John G’s presence is a good sign.
-
Starting Charade. Haven’t seen it in years.
-
Hello, Jeanne. Still in pain. But alive. But alive. But alive.
-
DR Jeanne - I don't know from Apple products, but might there be a touch-sensitivity adjustment in the settings?
-

I hate when that happens.
-
I would find that extremely frustrating.
-
One more.
-
ELEVEN
-
And we're not even done yet.
-
DR Ron Pulliam, I forgot to comment earlier about DeSantis becoming Mussolini, and I agree. I would love to see him shot full of holes and strung up. He's more dangerous than Trump because Trump is a fool; DeSantis is evil, and he is no fool.
Except in his dealings with Disney. They're playing him like a violin! ;D
I enjoyed today’s news about Disney cancelling their $1b project.
-

Can you clarify “ pandemic continuous coverage”? For those of us not up on insurance details.
-
During the pandemic, anyone that had previously qualified for some sort of public or subsidized health coverage could not lose it, even if they experienced a change that would have formerly disqualified them. So that no one would lose access to coverage during the pandemic.
-
So folks that would have normally had to go through a renewal/verification of their eligibility each year, did not. And have not for over 3 years.
-
But with the unwinding, that review process is starting up again.
-
Thanks for clarifying. I wasn’t aware of this.
-

I feel bad for the employees who already moved there.
-
DR Jeanne - I don't know from Apple products, but might there be a touch-sensitivity adjustment in the settings?
That’s a very good question. I don’t think there is, but I’ll look for one just the same. I purchased a new MacBook Air recently, but there was a problem with the setup. I fixed one part of it. Now, when I’m not feeling brain dead I need to finish that and return to a decent computer. I’ve just been too busy and too burnt out to do it.
-
TOD:
Probably Foyle’s War again. It’s such good drama.
-
TTFN.
-
Loving Charade.
-
Wow, DR George - that's pretty great.
I know! Their first offer (that I refused) was for $12 a month.
-
I think the Dark Shadows music was also released on the Ranwood label for some reason.
-
RICHARD III is on Great Performances tonight.
My DVR is set to record this.
-
I just got an update from the US Postal service.
;D
-
Well 7 minutes in and I have switched to On Patrol Live.....this performer is not convincing me....and I haven't even seen the Ado Annie in a wheelchair yet....I don't think I can take it.
Not sure......I think this was an interesting idea....but I don't think they chose the right leading....person.
-
Your mileage may vary and I may check in now and then to see how it's going.
RICHARD III is one of my favorite of the Bard's plays.
-
TOD:
Probably Foyle’s War again. It’s such good drama.
I would like to watch it again.
-
Keith wants to watch Air, the movie based on Shoe Dog by Phil Knight. I read the book and said no to the movie.
-
Instead we are watching Lockwood & Co based on the YA series.
-
Wow, DR George - that's pretty great.
I know! Their first offer (that I refused) was for $12 a month.
Smart move.
-
I just had an impromptu video chat with a couple of friends. It was fun.
-
I really ate too much today.
-
Somehow I need to find room for popcorn.
-
'night
-
There are very few things I would pay $12 per month for.
-
Page Eleven Already?
Eleven spelled backwards is nevele.
-
I like April Love a lot! Movie wise.
But I think my favorite Pat Boone movie is State Fair.....with Bernadine & Mardi Gras certainly in the running.
-
And of course he was naked in Journey To The Center of Earth - except for a sheep his was holding in front of his .... center.....
-
Page 12.
-
Welcome Five Guests.
-
Do you have any pets?
-
I'm plumb out of things to talk about.
-
And I'm up past my bedtime.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Goodnight DR singdaw.
-
We had some rain an hour ago, but it seems to have stopped.
-
The birds are undercover and asleep....I am assuming.
-
The laugh track they are using for RICHARD III doesn't seem to match the audience that is seen now and then.
It sounds like Leave It To Beaver.
-
I didn’t know Richard III needed a laugh track.
-
I'm plumb out of things to talk about.
That has never stopped you before...!!
-
TOD (Part 1?)
If you would like the score, it's available here:
https://www.discogs.com/release/1128118-Bernard-Herrmann-Night-Digger-Scenario-Macabre-For-Orchestra
-
DR Ron Pulliam, I forgot to comment earlier about DeSantis becoming Mussolini, and I agree. I would love to see him shot full of holes and strung up. He's more dangerous than Trump because Trump is a fool; DeSantis is evil, and he is no fool.
If you recall, he and his mistress were tied to a car by rope and dragged through the streets.
-
Finished with my viewing and now listening to music.
-
Good night,all.
-
And?
-
Why not?
-
I don't know.
-
I do know that either the computer's getting ready for its ubiquitous crash or the Internet is being slow.
-
Nothing will load properly, everything is slow, Music is not working properly - probably time to restart.
-
What the HELL is going on here?
-
Other than me, no posts for three and a half hours.
-
And no George, who is down some damn rabbit hole and not HERE posting.
-
That seems very wrong to me.
-
In fact, dear George hasn't been here for over six HOURS.
-
I might have to give him a swift kick in the pants.
-
I just might.
-
Very very bad.
-
And we were doing so damn well.
-
And we did get to page thirteen - had he been here it might have been fifteen.
-
It certainly would have been fourteen.
-
But noooo, it's thirteen.
-
Listening to a very odd album, kind of a musical for records called Frankie and Johnny, by film composer Robert Robert. Weird.
-
It just is.
-
I don't know.
-
Why?
-
I have no answers.
-
Do you?
-
And no George, who is down some damn rabbit hole and not HERE posting.
Kind of, but not really.
-
We played Phase 10 until about 10:30.
-
I won one of the three games that we played!
-
When I left, I had to do some shopping.
-
So, I did.
-
That took longer than expected because ever since lunch, my back has been hurting. :P
-
Still Groovin’ here?
-
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
-
I think I just sat in a wrong position for too long...too long in the wrong.
-
Rodzinski is here.
-
I hate it when that happens.
-
So, walking around the store this evening was not too easy to do.
-
I'm here.
-
I'm STILL here.
-
I went shopping at the WinCo that's just up the street from my mom's house.
-
I don't know.
-
And then when I went to pay, I used my debit card because they don't take credit cards...which I thought would be fine.
-
I don't know from WinCo.
-
But it wasn't!
-
Lots of stores here no longer accept cash.
-
My debit card wouldn't work! :o
-
I find that astonishing.
-
Oh, look! It's Page Fourteen!! :D
-
Page fourteen.
-
So, I had some cash, so I paid with that, and then came home.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Gratuitous Post #400!!
-
I hadn't eaten anything since lunch at about 2:30, so I microwaved myself a frozen lasagna and ate it, after taking my evening meds.
-
Then, I did get a little distracted with a game on my phone.
-
Then, I realized what the actual time was and now I'm here.
-
Now, I need to ketchup on what posts I can, so I shall.
-
A musical for records? Like Gordon Jenkins used to do?
-
JRand is correct in that the hit version of Quentin’s Theme by the Charles Randolph Grean Sounde was on Ranwood.
-
I don't know from WinCo.
They're an employee-owned grocery store. My mom LOVES shopping there...mostly because it's literally up the street from her house, just a couple of blocks.
-
15 is within reach, brothers.
-
15 is within reach, brothers.
Only 11 more posts??
-
PUUUUUUSSSSHHHH!!!!
-
Much prefer WinCo to LoseCo.
-
When I got home, a CD was waiting for me in my mailbox!
-
Much prefer WinCo to LoseCo.
Definitely! ;)
-
Here is a post I shall donate free of charge.
-
The CD that I received was, fortunately, one that I had ordered from Amazon.
-
Here is additional content in the form of a post.
