Well, you've read the notes, the notes were smacked down, and now it is time for you to post until the smacked down cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: NONPLUSSED!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Darn...we only had four more posts until Page 15!
-
I was just about to post this:
The CD that I received [yesterday] was the 1973 London cast recording to No, No, Nanette (https://castalbums.org/recordings/No-No-Nanette-1973-London-Cast/3031#2677), released on CD in 1994. :)
-
Notes envisaged. Absorbed.
-
Did BK really just kill the posts at the very precipice of 15 pages? Outrageous.
-
Ok, since you insist, BK, I will come down to fill the spot in the Kritzerland event. But only if I can sing “Toots Sweet” about the eatable, tweetable treat.
-
Or George and I duet on “Watch Your Footwork” from the Happiest Millionaire.
-
We made the mistake of going out for dinner over in Tsawwassen with the kids and taking them to the mall. Malls now add all kinds of attractions for kids like riding around on animals on wheels. And bouncy castles. That was all fine, but the line (or “lineup” as Canadians say) to get back home was over an hour and a half.
-
“Nonplussed” is a word that, through incorrect usage over the years by confused users, has had an incorrect, if not completely opposite, definition accepted and added by Webster’s. This has me nonplussed, but since I can’t do anything about it, I’ll just be nonplussed instead.
-
Be prepared to Bob and weave. Sister Cordy’s got dynamite up her sleeve.
Having had and enjoyed the soundtrack to the Happiest Millionaire, imagine my disappointment upon seeing the film and finding only a truncated version of that song sung by Paul Petersen and his pal.
I ask you, dear readers, have you any similar experiences? Where you saw a movie and the songs you knew from the soundtrack were mutilated?
Another comes to mind. “Coffee Break” from How To Succeed. You can see where it’s just about to begin, and then… they just skip it.
-
And with that, zero guests and zero others, I shall go.
-
I'm gonna have to shut the computer down when I leave in the morning. It needs a fresh start. Nothing is working as it should and it can't be the Internet connection, which is strong.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I am nonplussed about DR Rodzinski being nonplussed.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I did sleep rather well. thak God. Around midnight I got up for a bathroom break and sneaky Thatch, who was sleeping in his old spot on my bed, took over the spot he had the night before last. Sometime later, he had a break and I took back my spot. These cats are devils.
-
This morning I have an Amazon Fresh delivery. After that, it's a ballet day.
-
Ann and Jen are behaving strangely lately, and that concerns me. I don't knw if I've upset them, if they're overworked, or having domestic issues. I miss them.
-
:)
-
DR vixmom posted this shot of "artist palette" cookies on FB and I thought they were so cute.
-
Since my email to my 5th floor neighbors went unanswered, I just sent them another. I hope everything is okay.
-
Amazon Fresh delivered and left. One damaged item: never put a loaf of bread on top of a six-pack of cola, but if you do, do not them place another bag on top of that bag. I now have one mangled loaf of whole wheat bread, and I am not amused.
-
Last night the cats and I guffawed through the BBC broadcast of the Corley Polytechnic Dramatic Society's production of A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong. I liked it more than Peter Pan Goes Wrong, I think. Peter Pan had one guest star, David Suchet, and Christmas Carol had two, Diana Rigg and Derek Jacobi, whose role of Scrooge and Dickens was usurped by the world's worst amateur dramatic society.
-
I finally heard from my neighbors. I had forgotten they are now fostering a senior dog, Oscar. They're worried about giving his kennel cough to the cats.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Love the theme for the June Kritzerland show.
-
I slept a good part of the night. The pain only woke me once.
-
Love the theme for the June Kritzerland show.
Me too.
-
Two!
-
Why does the electric dryer "run" for 5 to 10 minutes after the cycle is done?
-
That's what I'd like to know.
-
Glad you had a pretty good night, DR John G. I was worried about that.
-
Happy Eliza Doolittle Day.
-
Please celebrate responsibly.
-
Happy Eliza Doolittle Day.
I am. I started watching My Fair Lady last night.
-
And I didn’t even remember the connection until you pointed it out.
-
I bought a book on getting organized. But I can't find it.
-
Or George and I duet on “Watch Your Footwork” from the Happiest Millionaire.
Road trip!! ;D

Those are! ;D
-
So, DR George, does that mean you're making them and bringing them to your cast party? :)
-
Ann and Jen will bring in the new cat tree shortly and take the old one to the basement for me. So, I got out my dustbuster to vacuum around it, and the damned thing died on me!
-
That's a metaphor for something.
-
But can't wait to see a photo of the new installation.
-
I'm up, I'm up - five hours of sleep.
-
Listening to Dawn Upshaw sing Bach.
-
When that's done, I may switch over to Dawn Upshaw singing Rodgers and Hart.
-
But I don't think Dawn ever recorded for DOT records.

I think "livid" has a similar confusion for users/abusers of the word.
-
So, DR George, does that mean you're making them and bringing them to your cast party? :)
That's certainly an idea!
-
If there will even be one...I haven't heard anything about one. ::)
-
Or maybe for opening night. :)
-
Good morning, all.
I am having my coffee!! Feel pretty good.
Had a good night's sleep.
-
I slept in today. First time all week I slept past 8:30. I got up at 10:30.
-
I have a Nancy Drew film playing on TCM in the background.
-
Am sorry BK is having computer issues. I hate when that happens. Sometimes, I just want to unplug it and throw it through a window.
Of course, that's an expense I know I don't want to pay, so I reboot. It usually works out.
-
If there will even be one...I haven't heard anything about one. ::)
Has there ever been an occasion when there wasn't one??
They may be waiting for someone to bring it up and volunteer to organize it.
-
All right. One more for the team.
-
Page 3
-
And here we are...only four pages away from Page 7.
-
I am hoping this year's Tony Awards show sets a precedent for brevity while celebrating achievement. Perhaps the Oscar show producers could use it as a model for future shows of theirs.
-
I didn't mind the length of the Oscar show while I lived in Oakland for 25 years. It was always over by 10 p.m.
Here on the east coast, I haven't the energy to stay up past midnight for anything...not even that stupid ball that drops on New Year's Eve.
-
Oddly, I don't often get to bed before midnight, but that's because I am doing something I "want" to do rather than something I "expect of myself".
Given my usual disappointment with the results of the Oscars, my expectations are nil. I can see the fun moment or two of the show on YouTube.
-
I have no idea where this stream of consciousness is coming from. It certainly doesn't seem like it's coming from above my neck, but who knows!!
Maybe it's that "bit of undigested beef" from Larry's fun with "A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong."
-
Here I sit...all alone...with ZERO guests to keep me company.
Sigh.
Have a great day, everyone!
-
If there will even be one...I haven't heard anything about one. ::)
Has there ever been an occasion when there wasn't one??
They may be waiting for someone to bring it up and volunteer to organize it.
This is the first SPSCC* Theatre Collective show that I've been in.
*South Puget Sound Community College
-
I would hope that they have a regular cast party procedure for each show...maybe opening night or after the final show?
-
We're only playing two weekends, and several people have been coming in from out of town, so it wouldn't be convenient to have one on a non-performance (or rehearsal) day.
-
But we'll see...or not. ;)
-
If you decide to, DR George, here's one recipe:
https://partypinching.com/art-palette-cookies/
-
Although it doesn't look like it includes the pretzel-stick paintbrushes.
-
I didn't know that DR Ron Pulliam was starring in Carousel!
-
(that was some Soliloquy)
-
Having had and enjoyed the soundtrack to the Happiest Millionaire, imagine my disappointment upon seeing the film and finding only a truncated version of that song sung by Paul Petersen and his pal.
I ask you, dear readers, have you any similar experiences? Where you saw a movie and the songs you knew from the soundtrack were mutilated?
I have something of a similar experience. Songs on soundtrack albums, but not in the films themselves. Happily, "The King and I" has two such songs: One sung by Liat and another by Anna, neither of which are in the film. "My Lord and Master" and "Shall I Tell You What I Think of You" -- recorded but not ever in the film. And, oddly, there is an oddity in the recordings in Mono and Stereo. There is a missing section of "Getting to Know You" on one of them...I think it's the mono.
-
(that was some Soliloquy)
As opposed to a Sillyoquy?
-
If the shoe fits.
-
;)
-
Me, I don't know from silly.
-
But they say that silly is as silly does.
-
I don't know who "they" are.
-
But they do say it.
-
I am having trouble keeping up with my email.
-
I am getting over 450 new messages every day.
-
I think I need to learn to use the "unsubscribe" button more.
-
There are things I know.
There are things I used to know.
And at 74-going-on-75, I have to admit a lot of it gets mixed together...and don't always come out the way it should.
Fortunately, there are things I know nothing about and on which I have nothing to say.
Funny how that doesn't seem to apply to folks like Trump, DeSantis, McCarthy, Boebert, Green and their ilk.
-
Shall I sing "More (the theme from Mondo Cane)"?
-
Good morning, all.
-
I am getting over 450 new messages every day.
I have been having a daily increase of such messages myself.
Report them as spam and they disappear.
-
For sure, DR Ron Pulliam.
-
FOUR.
-
I know things now.
-
Good morning, all.
Morning!
-
Frankly, I don't know how you maintain your poise with some of your relatives on social media.
-
Having a VERY leisurely Saturday morning.
-
I know things now.
If there is something you don't wish to say out loud, come sit by me.
-
It's nice that you can do that, DR ChasSmith, after all the recent flurry.
-
Frankly, I don't know how you maintain your poise with some of your relatives on social media.
To whom is this directed? DRChasSmith?
-
It's great to get into a flurry, and it's great to get out of one.
-
Before I get any more befuddled, I shall say "Adieu".
A "Gesundheit" would be appreciated.
-
To whom is this directed? DRChasSmith?
No, to you, DR Ron Pulliam. But several other posts intervened. It was in response to your post about politicians.
-
DQ makes a flurry, I think.
-
A "Gesundheit" would be appreciated.
Bless you.
-
This afternoon I'm going down to the Downtown Cabaret in Bridgeport to see, fittingly, Cabaret. The director is the one I did it with in 2019, and I know three excellent people in the cast.
-
And a pox on those whom I dislike.
-
Which is no one here.
-
So it will be a weekend of theatregoing for you, DR ChasSmith, which is lovely.
-
Speaking of which, we seem to be missing a few days of an accounting DR vixmom's adventures.
-
So it will be a weekend of theatregoing for you, DR ChasSmith, which is lovely.
Yes, I always enjoy the return to being an audience member for a while.
-
I am hoping to watch Sami again this weekend.
-
For breakfast I polished off that key lime pound cake from yesterday. I could use something a little more substantial, though.
-
Meat.
I am ready for meat.
-
Before I get any more befuddled, I shall say "Adieu".
A "Gesundheit" would be appreciated.
Gesundheit!
-
Before I get any more befuddled, I shall say "Adieu".
One is almost tempted to say "nonplussed."
-
DQ makes a flurry, I think.
DQ has the Blizzard. McDonald’s has McFlurry.
-
Slept a little more.
-
So last night, as you know, I was going to watch The Night Digger.
And indeed I did.
And, well ... surprise, surprise, I had indeed seen it at some point. BUT -- only about the first third of it. The rest was completely uncharted territory. It's amazing how that first part came back to me as I watched it, and how positive I was about the rest being absolutely unknown to me. I wonder how and when that happened.
-
Thanks, DR John G. These things are important.
-
I had forgotten on Dawn Upshaw's Rodgers & Hart album that she sings all 3 parts on "Sing for Your Supper."
-
I seem to recall that Debbie Shapiro Gravitte did the same on one of her albums.
-
FIVE!
-
Blizzards for all!
-
Your choice of mix-in.
-
I'm fixin' to mix-in.
-
To whom is this directed? DRChasSmith?
No, to you, DR Ron Pulliam. But several other posts intervened. It was in response to your post about politicians.
Ah...then I thank you. Equanimity is something I strive for.
-
I really should get my day started.
For some reason my butt seems not to want to move from this chair.
-
TCM is fixin' to show "Fiddler on the Roof".
-
I may watch that!
-
Cat Tree vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Did what with who DR CHAS SMITH?
-
I also share the outrage of DR RODZINSKI on the chopped up Keep Your Guard Up in the movie The Happiest Millionaire.
Especially when so many other songs sung by characters I didn't care about went on and on and even had reprises!

I hope MR BK does The Strummin' Song in the June Kritzerland show...it's so much fun.

DR George, I didn't realize WinCo accepted debit cards. I guess it makes sense that they do. We never use ours so never thought to use it there.
-
We don't really like WinCo and haven't been there in ages.

From Bruce:
Lots of stores here no longer accept cash.

-
Next we will be forced to use a phone app to pay.
-
From George:
My debit card wouldn't work! :o
Good thing you had enough cash on you. Do you use your debit card often?
-
I was hereto forthwith not aware of The Strummin' Song. Thing things you learn on HHW!
-
I had forgotten on Dawn Upshaw's Rodgers & Hart album that she sings all 3 parts on "Sing for Your Supper."
A favorite song of mine.

A little Tommy Steele goes a L O N G way with me.
Tommy was one of outsized performers who always seem to be playing to the back of the balcony three theaters away. And that grin. Oy.

Hugh Martin’s vocal arrangement is perfection.
Indeed. And Amen.
-
Did anyone say, "SIX"?
-
Well, if not, I have said it. For the team.
-
Are you setting it on a timer?
Well, it runs on the pre-set cycle. and when the cycle ends, the heater runs for many minutes beyond that.
-
That's odd. It might possibly be a cool down. Are your clothes overdried?
The sensor on my electric dryer doesn't work great anymore. I set a timer on my phone to check the clothes before I expect them to be done, and also to make sure the dryer hasn't shut off too soon.
-
This made me laugh.

Back from pasta papa, the mail place, and I stopped at an estate sale mere blocks from where I used to live in the City of Studio.

There was a lot of stuff and they seemed to be doing well, but no books, no CDs other than multiple copies of a Xmas CD - more about that in a minute. It didn't take me long to figure out whose house it was and that was confirmed when the woman taking the money said her name was Joely. One of the things I saw right away was a security thing for one of the STAGE benefits - first clew. Then there was some award for Connie Stevens - second clew. And then Joely as in Joely Fisher. Didn't see Connie there but pretty sure Tricia Leigh Fisher was. It was a LOT of clothes, and the Christmas CD was Joely, Tricia, and Connie doing Xmas favorites.
-
The Christmas CD sounds great.
-
I always like Connie Stevens. I saw her in I’m Getting My Act Together…
-
I watched half of My Fair Lady. Then the pain kicked in.
-
Audrey Hepburn is the best thing about the movie.
-
Charade was released the year before. But I wonder if she had been cast at that point. Cary Grant jokes about being on the street where you live.

I love Mary Testa!
-
The cat tree has been a huge success. Annabelle is asleep in the hammock, Thatch is in the second level where Stella was in the photos, and Stella is asleep on the ground floor. I'm sure the novelty is the new smell ab=nd the scents of various carpenters and workers who handled, packed and shippewd it.
-
Happy kitties.

Am curious as to the house. Is it the house Connie bought that USED to be where Sonja Henie lived?? If so, when Connie bought it there were remnants of an ice skating rink on the upper floor. And Connie, herself, reported on some show or other that the house had been haunted when she first bought it. She felt the ghost was Sonja.
-
Audrey Hepburn is the best thing about the movie.
Well.....Andre Previn's scoring is brilliant, as are Cecil Beaton's art direction and costume design.
-
Audrey Hepburn is the best thing about the movie.

They say “lineup” as a synonym for any line or queue.
-
DR George, I was really hoping we could go see Sunday in the Park. I am very disappointed that we can't go.
Not a problem, Jane. I understand.
-

-
Pretty cool that you could go to a yard sale and Joely Fisher is there taking money.
-
Like when young BK was out walking and Phil Silvers was out washing his car or something.
-
Who wore it best between George and his castmate? I vote G!
-
I knew the dates of the show might be difficult as they are the weekend before, and the weekend after our anniversary. I thought maybe we could combine it with an anniversary trip.
-
No anniversary trip for us. We now have to stay home.
-
Yes I vote DR GEORGE - but it is a fun photo for sure!
-
DR ELMORE glad to hear that the cat tree is a great success.
-
I remember Connie Stevens talking about the Sonja Henie house as well.
A celebrity yard sale can only happen in LA!
My neighbor across the street had a yard sale today. All traffic and parking laws were suspended.
I didn't buy any of the Trump hats, but I did buy a set of six crystal ice cream bowls still in the original carton for only $3.
-
Yes I vote DR GEORGE - but it is a fun photo for sure!
Ditto!
-
I like Connie Stevens a lot - it's a generational thing, I guess.
And I always enjoy reading Neil Simon's opinion of her in his various books.
-
A celebrity yard sale can only happen in LA!
If I still lived there I wouldn't think anything of it.
-
What generation does not like Connie Stevens?
-
My neighbor across the street had a yard sale today. All traffic and parking laws were suspended.
Oh my. I hope you didn't have plans to go anywhere.
-
I always liked her best in a tv movie where Alan Alda was married to Barbara Feldon and Connie was married to Doug McClure. They swapped wives.
Alan tried to introduce Connie to culture and one exchange went something like:
"And then you took me to some play. A guy came out and yelled 'I'm forbidden to love my mother' and some girl came out and yelled 'I'm forbidden to love my brother' and all I could think of was I'm forbidden to leave this theatre!"
But it was nice at the end because Barbara had painted a nude life study of Doug.
-
I too hit up a couple yard sales today. Bought a little plumbing fixture out of a kind of guilt.
-
I didn't buy any of the Trump hats
:))
-
That was a relief to read ;)
-
I did buy a set of six crystal ice cream bowls still in the original carton for only $3.
Congrats. Will there be a photo?
-
At least the seller no longer is hanging onto those hats! A good sign?
-
LOL DR JANE - blase Hollywood native.
No, I had nowhere to go today and all day to get there.
-
What generation does not like Connie Stevens?
I don't know. I always liked her.
-
I too hit up a couple yard sales today. Bought a little plumbing fixture out of a kind of guilt.
Guilt?
-
That's true DR RODZINSKI but I am afraid there is a new generation or so that doesn't even know her name.
-
At least the seller no longer is hanging onto those hats! A good sign?
Then they should have been destroyed ;)
-
Today I had to attend a 2-hour seminar on maintaining my septic system. It was the closest thing to theatre I’ve been to in years.
-
Now Connie Selleca, there’s talent forgotten by the sands of time.
-
DR JANE they are in the dishwasher at the moment - perhaps when they get out.
-
LOL DR JANE - blase Hollywood native.
No, I had nowhere to go today and all day to get there.
LOL, not that I didn't appreciate seeing certain stars.
-

Oh my. Who required that you do this?

If I go to a yard sale and I’m the only person, I find it hard to walk away empty-handed, especially if the seller engages me in conversation.

Whatcom County.

Robert Redford garage sale, Jane might peek in. David Janssen garage sale? She’ll could not be bothered.
-
Now Connie Selleca, there’s talent forgotten by the sands of time.
I looked her up to see if she is still working. Her son Gib, with Gil Gerard, has strikingly beautiful blue eyes. Her daughter with John Tesh is named Prima.
Prima Tesh-groan ;D
-
A good test of whether someone is A-list or below. Would Jane attend their yard sale?
-
I forgot about her alignment with the Tesh.
-
DR JANE they are in the dishwasher at the moment - perhaps when they get out.
Thanks.
-
Page Ten for Tesh!

Very true ;D
-
Robert Redford was a customer at the bank and I was extremely tempted to walk off with a document that had his signature. He never went into the bank.
-
I worked with James Garner's niece. Sometimes he would stop in to meet her for lunch with her father. I would have like to actually been in the office when he did that. Never happened.
I would also like to try to find his niece and catch up.
-
I liked Joanne Woodward in everything she did. When I was young and people would talk about Paul, I wondered why they weren't noticing Joanne.
-

I vaguely remember that one.

No because then I would have to buy something I don't need.

Glad you’re home safe.
-
New cat tree looks great! Now we need some photographic evidence with all of them in it.
-
Watching a movie called Rio with Basil Rathbone and a mustachioed Robert Cummings. His mustache looks like an anchovy died on his face.
-
In my first days in NYC, I once missed seeing Barbara Feldon in an upper east side home goods store by minutes. Missed her by THAT MUCH. The reason I know is that the place was still abuzz.
-

Same. I hate it when I'm walking up to the house and I see the only people already there LEAVING.

Since Avatar: The Way of Water is over three hours, we will watch half tonight and the other half tomorrow night.
-
:)
-
'night
-
I take it you've seen the first Avatar movie, then, DR Jane?
-
Well, at least they followed the directions.
-
I feel a
song page turn coming on...
-
Oh, yes.
-
Very soon.
-
ELEVEN!
-
Good night, friends.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I have nothing to report.
TTFN.
-
Listening to Tom Sawyer, Maury Yeston’s ballet.
-
Finished a documentary and will start another shortly.
-
I’m exhausted.
-
Good night, all.
-
No anniversary trip for us. We now have to stay home.
A "staycation" can be very restful.
-
:)
Yes, well it looks like it might resist absorption as well.
-
Good night, you all.
-
Another horse put down today. This time it was one Bob Baffert’s. I have never liked him.
And yet, National Treasure, a Baffert-trained horse, won the Preakness.
-
And?
-
For what?
-
I have no idea.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
And here we are - still on page eleven.
-
It's a nice page.
-
But certainly not the be all and end all of pages.
-
Paging page twelve.
-
Perhaps George will show up.
-
Really? Another one of THOSE nights?
-
Pretty cool that you could go to a yard sale and Joely Fisher is there taking money.
My niece would be jealous. She likes Joely Fisher.
-
Who wore it best between George and his castmate? I vote G!
;D
-

Darn.
-
Yes I vote DR GEORGE - but it is a fun photo for sure!
Thanks, Jrand!
-
It was fun. :)

Agreed!

:o
-
PAGE TWELVE DANCE!!
-
I fell asleep after coming home from the six (fortunately, not eight) hour rehearsal!
-
And I'm glad! ;)
-
I have not been getting as much sleep as I should, so this helped.
-
Tomorrow, my friend Shelky and I are going to see the show that I was supposed to be in: Tuck Everlasting: The Musical.
-
I'm really glad that I have the time to see this.
-
I was actually looking forward to being in that, but...Sondheim.
-
;D
-
A good test of whether someone is A-list or below. Would Jane attend their yard sale?
A good test for anyone!
-

I always try to avoid that kind of calamity!
-
I guess that will be it.
-
That will be it and then, to be fair, it will be that.
-
And the world goes round.
-
And so do I.
-
I AM round.
-
And here I sit.
-
Listening to music, which you'll read about in the notes.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
Listening to Tom Sawyer, Maury Yeston’s ballet.
I've thought about buying that, but I haven't yet. How is it?
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And I don't care who knows it.
-
Really? Another one of THOSE nights?
Yes...but for special reasons!
-
And?
-
Why note?
-
Page thirteen.
-
Joely Fisher doesn't look like she used to.
That's too bad.
-
Page thirteen.
Whew!
-
I definitely needed that nap.
-
I'm sure that I'll still sleep quite well. 8)
