Well, you've read the notes, the notes had nothing much to report, and now it is time for you to post until the nothing much to report cows come home.

And the word of the day is: FESTIVE!

Notes consumed.
Yet to be Rodzinski’d.

Topic Of The Day
I liked Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln.
-
I also thought Colin Firth did a good job as King George VI in The King’s Speech.
Of course, I must admit to being a huge fan of Colin Firth in just about anything. 😊
-
I thought Helen Mirren was wonderful as Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen.
-
F.Murray Abraham did a fine job portraying Salieri in Amadeus.
-
Intrigued by the Kimmel/Wechter project.
-
John, I’m not clear as to what ails your hand.
Did you say that you had received cortisone shots to numb the pain?
I apologize if you have explained it recently.
-
DR Larry, I hope your doctors will be able to diagnose your gastrointestinal problems and figure out what is causing the pain and ongoing problems.
I have long suffered with G-intestinal discomfort. Tried eliminating certain foods, especially dairy products…so sad , as ice cream is my absolute favorite thing to eat. Oh, and frozen custard.
-
Please keep us informed.
I will be back later today.
Wish to express my gratitude for the compassion, kindness and comfort you have all been providing me.

Good morning, friends.
-
And others. 8)
-
The apartment still smells like acrid smoke. :(
-
Today's forecast calls for almost a foot of sun.
-
Good morning, all!
-
The cats are fed, and I have the morning to kill before Access-a-Ride whisks me off to East 95rg Street.
-
It's been rather chilly the past two nights and I haven't been sleeping well. It's a terrible chill that seeps right through the blankets and envelopes the body. Only the cats curled up against me seems to keep it off.
-
To make it worse, just before I went to bed I was watching a Dateline episode about the insane Josh Powell, suspected of killing his wife, went completely off the deep end killed himself and his two young sons. I had nightmares about that, along with other dreams I do not now remember.
-
DR JohnG, the complete recording of Oklahoma! is due for release on Sept. 15. I need to send John Wilson an email, and I'll learn more then.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I still have stuff here to ketchup on from yesterday.
In the meantime, vibes for DR Elmore’s outing to the Dr. today!

John, I’m not clear as to what ails your hand.
Did you say that you had received cortisone shots to numb the pain?
I apologize if you have explained it recently.
Last Wednesday, I woke up with severe pain in my neck, left shoulder and arm. I have since had a massage, two acupuncture treatments, two visits to emergency clinics and electroshock acupuncture. The last is the only one that seemed to help. Today I see an orthopedic doctor.

Wishing every DR a double rainbow today.

And double dream hands, as well.

And for us all.
-
Many DRs here waiting on needed positive news.
-
Well, Access-a-Ride screwed me over this morning. I am not amused in the least. I just rebooked my doctor's appointment to June 7.
-
DR JohnG, I hope you find relief very soon.
On the lighter side, I couldn't help wondering if the pain in your neck was caused by a "who" rather than a "what".
-
Happy Thursday, Tutti!
-
TOD:
Susan Hayward as Jane Froman in "With A Song in My Heart".
Kirk Douglas as Vincent Van Gogh in "Lust for Life".
Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln in "Lincoln".
Daniel Day-Lewis as Christy Brown in "My Left Foot".
Gary Cooper as Lou Gehrig in "The Pride of the Yankees"
Alexander Knox as Woodrow Wilson in "Wilson"
Jennifer Jones as Bernadette Soubirous - "The Song of Bernadette"
-
I need motivation.
I simply don't know where I can go to buy some.
-
Would Amazon carry it? And if they did and I ordered it as a prime member, would I get it any time soon?
I only snark about it because I ordered some Pringles chips a couple of weeks ago and they were to have been delivered May 23.
On the evening of May 23, they had not been delivered. Visting my orders, I discovered they altered the delivery date by one week.
-
Amazon Prime hasn't really been reliable since the pandemic.
I have not received anything within two days in the past few years, even though the products are labeled as "Prime".
-
Doody.

Question for Larry Moore:
Who funds/manages Access-A-Ride?
-
I slept rather well last night.
I wasn't able to use my CPAP even though I was breathing through my nose.
The CPAP was tried, but my nasal passages seemed to close a bit and breathing was difficult. So, I took it off and breathed just fine without it.
-
Over the past few nights, I had some rather cogent dreams. I recall awakening and being amazed at how much sense they made. Of course, they immediately evaporated from my memory.
-
I hate it when stories affect me the way Larry was affected by the dad who killed his sons and himself.
-
TOD Redux:
George C. Scott as George Scott Patton in "Patton"
Roy Scheider as Bob Fosse in "All That Jazz"
-
Who do I think I am with this string of posts?
Vixmom?
slapjaw?
-
TOD Addendum:
Sam Rockwell as Bob Fosse and Michelle Williams as Gwen Verdon in "Fosse/Verdon".
-
My brain has been thoroughly wracked for biographical performances.
-
Any more wrack may lead to ruin
-
So...here we are on Page 3.
My morning's work is done.
-
Ketchuping!
Yesterday DR Ron Pulliam asked:
Among all those alien clothes, did you find a shirt or pair of pants that you now refuse to believe you would ever have worn much less paid for?
I have such a photo of me in a shirt...and I recall thinking it looked SO GOOD on me.
Now, I am happy I wasn't simply shot on sight by the fashion police.
YES. Some of it was quite old, things I hadn't pulled out of a drawer or closet in some years. None of it was as horrendous as, say, finding one's 1970s clothes (I'd actually LIKE to see a couple of those things again), but just poorly chosen crap. So good riddance to all of it. A few pieces had to go right into the trash, and the rest is in a box in my car, ready to be dropped off at the first thrift store I stop at whenever I go out next.

It is Thursday - our last rehearsal of the week.....and we're off on Monday! Hurray!
-
I like everybody's lists for the TOD.
Like DR IRIS and others I was going to say DDL as Abraham Lincoln, but I will also add Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln.
-
DR RON PULLIAM's list had some nice folks including Susan Hayward as Jane Froman.
I also liked her as Lillian Roth in I'll Cry Tomorrow.
Jessica Lange as Frances Farmer in Frances - although the movie was very misleading.
Sissy Spacek and Beverly D'Angelo as Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline in Coal Miner's Daughter.
-
DR Elmore said:
The person you need to speak to is Joshie, since he orchestrated it for a smaller ensemble when it was one of the Encores! summer shows around seven years ago. I do know that the Marc Blitzstein estate is now intertwned withb hte Kurt Weill Foundation and I believe they now handle the rights to The Cradle Will Rock.
Looks like that was ten (count 'em) years ago, and it's too bad Cradle was so far off my radar back then, because I looked up the reviews and it sounds like it was an excellent and well received arrangement and reading. Damn it to HELL. There's a copy on Premiere Opera that will have to do. And I do remember reading about the Blitzstein/Weill thing now.
-
TOD Addendum:
Sam Rockwell as Bob Fosse and Michelle Williams as Gwen Verdon in "Fosse/Verdon".
I was thinking of Rockwell as Chuck Barris in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.
-
And speaking of chili with or without beans:
Last night I opened up my penultimate can of Cincinnati chili (Gold Star - I have one remaining can of Skyline in the cupboard). I'd been craving it for a while, and last night was the perfect time for it. I always do a five-way, so, beans plus onions plus the grated cheese on top. I think I made about 2/3 of a pound of the spaghetti, and ate it all, which is a lot when you add a goodly amount of the toppings. But oh, yum yum yum. And I don't mean a maiden in Japan.
-
Anyhoo, DR Ron Pulliam had also related his horror story about the "chili water" on a hot dog. Horrible.
The Cincinnati chili places also serve "Coneys" - hot dogs with the chili mixture, cheese, onions, etc. - which I have yet to try. Of course this kind of "chili" is a thin mixture with a sort of pulverized meat component along with a great blend of spices. I wonder if that place was attempting this kind of thing, and failing miserably.
I absolutely go for chili dogs being made with a standard no-beans mixture, and Hormel's is perfect for it, very similar to how I remember the Nathan's ones tasting at Coney Island. But because of the incredible blend of flavors in Cincinnati chili, I will plan on having the supplies and trying one hot dog with it when I open my last can.
-
DR Elmore again:
I just learned that my friend John Wilson has conducted complete recordings of Oklahoma! and Carousel for Chandos Records.
Yes! I forgot to mention it, but someone posted that in one of the Facebook groups a day or two ago. What wonderful news!
-
TOD
Lots of good ones already listed. I'll add that I happen to love it when you start watching one of these things, and the actor initially looks so far removed from the real person that you think it's just going to suck. And then he or she turns out to be so good at it, that you soon forget that initial distraction and completely buy it.
Anyway, a few favorites or sort-of-favorites for one reason or another:
Both Anthony Hopkins and Philip Baker Hall as Richard Nixon, and both Anthony Hopkins and Toby Jones as Alfred Hitchcock. Toby Jones is an odd looking person in the first place, and he wasn't a great Hitchcock and the whole production rather sucked, but I did get used to him as it went on.
Another two characterizations of the same person are Philip Seymour Hoffman and (yes, again) Toby Jones as Truman Capote. AND in those same two films, both Catherine Keener and Sandra Bullock as Harper Lee.
It's enough to make your head spin.

I had a dream i was in a small restaurant in Manhattan

One of those that has a single restroom with a door that opens into the restaurant proper.

I was engaged in using the room for its primary purpose when the door flew open

There stood Barbara Walters

1990's era BW

I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.

She looked at me for a miunte and said, "serves you right for not locking the door"

Then she walked away

Leaving the door WIDE OPEN
-
Abd of course totally out of reach from my position

In full view of all the diners in the place.

I was calling "Barbara! Barbara!" when I woke up.

Back from Gelson's - it's gonna be a Wacky Noodles day.

We have always had chili with beans in this house.....but we also enjoy the coney dogs. I tried the Hormel chili with no beans for hot dogs once.....but it was a bit thick for my taste.

I shall now be on my way to the last rehearsal for four days.
We are doing Act One again.....once, I hope.

Thursday evening greetings! I had a nice girls’ outing with my friend Sue today. From her house, where I left my car, we drove to Tipp City, OH, for lunch with several other friends at Coldwater Cafe. The restaurant building used to be a bank and we ate in the vault. From there, several of us went to Troy, OH, for an exhibit of teapots. Sue and I shopped for baked goods at an Amish market before I retrieved my car and came home.
-
Sticking with James Stewart tonight. Watching Harvey, also new to me.

DR Ginny, did the bakery have shoefly bread?

Great dream, Vixmom. Glad you had it instead of me.

Harvey is interesting. Whenever Josephine Hull is on the screen, the movie becomes insufferable. Her spot-on impersonation of a Republican is neither funny nor effective.

Sue bought a mini shoofly pie. I bought apple and peach. And molasses cookies.
-
Peach pie and molasses cookies, yum.
-
I never had shoefly pie before we moved to Pennsylvania. I had a couple of very tasty mini pies, and then discovered the bread. After that I always stopped to buy a small loaf or piece of the shoefly bread and never got the pie again.

Shoefly pie and apple pan dowdy.
That's all I know about either of those desserts.

Rehearsal was fine.....but we got a bit loopy toward the end of the second time through.
I kept saying "Good heavens" instead of "Good Lord" which is only a problem because another character and I say them both - together.
After about the third time - I just started quoting lines from AUNTIE MAME.....
It was ghastly.....it was just ghastly!
-
DR VIXMOM's interpretation might also be correct.....but the presence of Barbara Walters and her participation in the fun lead me in another direction.
-
Glad to be home for four days with nothing to do but learn my lines....of course having nothing to do is not a familiar event for most of the Dear Readers at HHW.

A Teapot Exhibit.
It almost sounds like something you would read about in a book by Jane Austen.

Is dress rehearsal still going on???
I was at the time of your post.
-
But I'm home after driving Nurse/Mrs./Blair Daniels (aka Sara) home.
-
And I ate.
-
And then I visited the necessary.
-
::)
-
;D
-
We had probably less than 10 people in our invited audience tonight.
-
Hadn't eaten since one with Wacky Noodles - so tummy needed something so I ordered some pho with chicken - I have no idea what that is but it looks like wonton soup and I hope it's similar - just felt like soup and soup isn't fattening.
-
Are we really not on page ten?
-
My friend Shelly wasn't able to come tonight, but she will during the run.
-
Are we really not?
-
It would seem so.
-
So, it went well?
-
Yes or no?
-
No or yes.
-
One or the other.
-
My mom is coming on Saturday night.
-
Are you visiting the necessary again? Is that necessary?
-
Has anyone around here had pho?
-
Do you know from pho?
-
Is pho a go?
-
I sure hope so.
-
Pho is the question.
-
So, it went well?
It went quite well! One of the cast members said she talked go a woman in the audience after the show, and she had tears in her eyes...the audience member, not the cast member. :)
-
Apparently no one has an answer.
-
Page ten.
-
George is in the necessary.
-
Or he's making a post, since I no longer see his name.
-
He is the man with no name.
-
And therefore gets the blame.
-
As does Mama.
-
Where the HELL did he go?
-
Pho?
-
Has anyone around here had pho?
I haven't, but I did learn that it's pronounced "fuh," like you're going to say "fudge" but stop before the "dge" is said.
-
I guess I'll know about pho before anyone here actually answers a damn question.
-
Where the HELL did he go?
No where! I was typing!
-
I will not pronounce pho fuh.
-
Why should I?
-
Who's gonna make me?
-
Or he's making a post, since I no longer see his name.
I don't know why that happens, but I haven't gone anywhere.
-
