Well, you've read the notes, the notes were prudent and had prunes, and now it is time for you to post until the prudent cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PROMOTE!
-
Major Major Miracle Vibes for BK!!
-
I woke up at half past 4 with my sinuses driving me crazy
-
I’ve been trying to go back to sleep, ever since
-
That stinks, DR vixmom.
-
We don't need no stinkin' sinuses.
-
Oh, and good morning, friends.
-
With fruit cup.
-
Does a fruit cup usually include prunes?
-
Gorgeous photo, DR John G. Keep 'em coming!
-
I know that egg rolls don't usually include prunes.
-
Since we had edible fruits yesterday and prunes today, we're on a bit of a fruit roll.
-
Good morning, all!
-
It's been hell this morning after a very rough night of sleep. I woke with a huge urge to get to the bathroom. I made it, but I stepped barefoot into a large puddle of cat vomit. This is the second morning in a row that one of the cats has thrown up and both times were in the very same area. I hope this does not portend sick kitties. So, after I dressed, I cleaned up the mess.
-
I have a mess of my own making that needs tending. I have a humongous pile of books purchased in the past three years that needs serious work in getting put away. I need to hire someone to come in and help with my housekeeping.
-
Today I move on to No. 23 in the ballet. My goal for June 8 was to have finished Act One. I have two numbers to score, 23 b& 24, and I think I can finish both by Monday.
-
Notes processed. Enjoyed.
-
TOD: there is nothing better than a big bag of prunes from Costco.
-
DR Laura, it's good to see you!
-
TOD
Granny Smith apples

Dried fruit

-
Good morning, all.
-
In a little bit I must get ready and get to my appointment.
-
I think I was at the La Reina exactly once. Actually, I have to do a little research and think about that. I saw only a few movies in the Valley over the years.

Those Young Folk really know how to dress!

Finally did doze off

Then the alarm rang

Which I shut off

And tried to doze some more

I just discovered this cut scene from The Birds!
-
I have always been fascinated by the name Prunella Scales. She was an actress best known for starring in "Fawlty Towers".
It amused me to wonder if Prunella knew her scales. Or did she have scales?
-
Pat Robertson has died. Oh well.
I'm hoping he's facing a big surprise.
Bless his heart.
-
I slept rather well.
I dreamed and dreamed, most of it about being in the Navy, for pity's sake. At least they were pleasant.
And now I am awake, almost alert, and having my first cup of coffee for the day.
In a couple of hours, I shall be meeting my cousin Debra for an outing. Good food lies ahead.
-
TOD:
I enjoy fresh strawberries, pineapples, grapes, bananas, peaches and pears. Apples, too.
Dried fruit: Pineapple, bananas, sometimes Kiwi.
-
Tis a gray day in Johnston SC, USA.
We will have moderate temperatures and rain.
Maybe even a thunderstorm.
-
Pat Robertson has died. Oh well.
I'm hoping he's facing a big surprise.
Pity.
-
Still on page 2?

Almost time for me to go.
Went to post office early and waited quite a while for a lady who arrived early with a ton of things to mail.
Lately, that's the story of my post office travels. Every day, I have a package to pick up but wait 5-10 minutes to get it because there is one, and only one, postal clerk.
For a small town, we have a lot of mail going through our small post office.
-
It passes the time, though.
It's not like I have a timetable to meet.
-
Not usually, at any rate.
-
I wish the "0 guests" would help with this mini-frenzy.
-
It's very sad to be all alone in this forum.
-
I guess all are occupied with work and vacation and/or sleep/other things.
-
Whatchagonnado?
-
Now i see "5 guests" are with me.
-
Time to do a little song, a little dance...
-
...and to spray seltzer down my pants.
-
Don't call me Chuckles!!!
-
And that-a, as they say, is that-a.
-
Ta and da!
-
What?

What????

WHAT????
-
You know I can't hear you when the water's running!

TOD:
I like strawberries and bananas.....sometimes together.
Pineapples are okay.....
-
Great to see DR LAURA around these parts yesterday.
Today to the west I can see some blue skies - but to the east it is still cloudy and overcast.
The smoke smell is about the same right now.
-
LOL George regarding the elevator.
-
Lively sunset DR John.

TOD: there is nothing better than a big bag of prunes from Costco.
If only my stomach would permit me to indulge.

Good morning, all.
-
Slept three hours yesterday afternoon. Thought I wasn’t going to sleep last night, but I managed another 8.5 hours.
-
TOD:
Anything and everything, from persimmons to rambutan.
Can’t eat much dried fruit anymore. Causes kidney stones in me, but I love dried sour cherries best.
-
The fresh pineapple here, often called white pineapple, is delicious, as are apple bananas. They’re a fat fingerling type and not too sweet.
-
At home, I generally have an apple a day. Not a Hawaiian fruit and about $2 apiece.

Back -- from the opthalmologist's office (which spell check is STILL objecting to, damn it to hell), with the all clear to schedule the cataract surgery. That will be a few months out, very likely in September but maybe a little later.
As for now, my eyes are still dilated enough that printed matter is still a big blur, and I can barely read what I'm typing.
So ... back later!
-
That said, I can see well enough to recognize that I used the word "still" three (3) times in that post.
-
Still.
-
Who's running a still?
-
You know I can't hear you when the rotgut's running.

Keith had his 3rd appointment and we are on our way home.

Since customs still has my prescription, I asked Bryan to call in a 30 day script.
-
I like being able to do that.
-
Im up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
And already a tempestuous morning so enough of THAT crap.
-
Annoying text to start the day, but I responded to that in an even-keeled manner, then an unhappy customer because we didn't ship something he ordered in three days, so I refunded him and cancelled his orders and wished him luck trying to find those two particular CDs elsewhere.

That's been my morning so far.

I just used the phrase "I blame it on the Bossa Nova" in my work group chat. The response was deafening. Crickets.

I have a fig tree in the backyard. When to pick the figs, I wonder.
DR John should be able to answer your question.
They don’t ripen after you pick them, so you may need netting to keep them from the birds.
-
Not even figs, raisins!
-
Now where was I?
-
Read another 100 pages in Nana this morning. Loving it. And I like this modern translation. Nana’s trips to the lesbian bar are quite fascinating.
-
I don’t think my early translation would be as explicit. But I could be wrong. The most graphic part of Germinal, a castration of the bad guy, was in both.
-
Second rehearsal was grand. Now I must get some food.
-
Good news from/for DR George!!!!!!
Thanks, Singdaw!

Had a great day with Debra!
For lunch: Green beans, creamed corn, barbecue (mustard), barbecue (smoked), barbecue (hickory), fried chicken breast and a chicken fried pork chop.
I was stuffed. Still am. No room then, or now, for dessert.

Trump is the first former president in U.S. history to face federal charges.
The Justice Department took the legally and politically momentous step of lodging federal criminal charges against former President Donald J. Trump, multiple people familiar with the matter said on Thursday, following a lengthy investigation of his handling of classified documents that he took with him upon leaving office and then obstructing the government’s efforts to reclaim them.
-
Nixon would have been the first, but he was smart enough to resign and then be pardoned for everything. And the DOJ would never have done this if they didn't have the goods. The real shocker is that not only can he continue running for president (and he's already gleefully fleecing his base again for contributions), he can continue running if he's found guilty. There is something very wrong with this country if someone is found guilty of criminal behavior and can still run for the highest office in the country.
-
What are we still doing on page six?
-
Had a Cobb salad for food. Very good.
-
No more sweets for me, not for a few weeks.
-
What?
-
I have no idea.
-
All i know for sure is that I do not care for page seven.
-
I had thought I had read that if he is convicted on the espionage charges, that precludes him from holding elected office again. But I may be mistaken on that.

There should be freadom as well as freedom. The freedom for all to read what they choose.
-
For example, I might choose to read the libretto of Grease.
-
And no one should be able to stop me.

All i know for sure is that I do not care for page seven.
I think I had heard that.

Not quite sure where.

And yet, I find myself unable to forge past this page.

The truly good news about today's 7-count indictment of the oranguTrump is that Rachel Maddow was guest on Lawrence O'Donnell's show at his invitation. They had a nice 20-minute talk about everything. Lawrence extended an invitation for Rachel to join him for any and all presidentiial indictments to come, and she accepted.
-
I miss my weekday visits with Rachel. Monday nights just aren't enough.
-
Great! As soon as I log on, everyone goes to bed or disappears.
Not even a single guest.
-
Hi, Ron!
-
I know Bruce won't allow us to stay on page 7, so I guess I have done as much as I can if old scrimshaw won't be around to trade barbs and frenzy with me.
-
I miss my weekday visits with Rachel. Monday nights just aren't enough.
I feel the same way.
-
Oh, look! There's Iris.
Hi, Iris!!

I enjoyed that discussion.
-
Rachel is one of those brilliant people who both tickles my intellect and maddens me. She can go on and on and on about something without coming to a point quickly.
But, she makes her point and, by the time she has done it, she has laid out her case for doing so.
Stunningly intelligent woman.
-
Lawrence and Rachel are a great team.
-
Lawrence and Rachel are a great team.
They definitely are. I have tried to warm up to Rachel's replacement, but so far it's a no-go. She's good, but she's not a "replacement" for Rachel.
-
She is irreplaceable, in my opinion.
-
Today has been a day.
I took a rather lengthy post-pig-out-at-lunch nap, and it has suddenly felt like Friday.
But...it's still Thursday (isn't it?)!
-

-
While the precise details of all the charges are not yet clear, the people familiar with the matter said the charges include willfully retaining national defense secrets in violation of the Espionage Act, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and making false statements.
The Espionage Act. 😳
-
Thank you, iris, for coming on when you did. We had a mini-frenzy and got us off unlucky 7.
-
I wish that cameras were permitted in federal courtrooms.
-

The Espionage Act. 😳
And earlier, Ari Melber said he thinks Jack Smith has undoubtedly put forth seven strong counts with the probability that one or two of them will stick when the grand jury is done.
-
My pleasure, Ron!
Your lunch sounded so delicious.
-
I’m wondering who else will be indicted.
Charging Conspiracy requires more than one person.
-
My pleasure, Ron!
Your lunch sounded so delicious.
It was basic, but good, southern cooking. The place was packed.
But you go through a buffet line rather quickly. It was the line to pay up front that took the longest. Maybe 5 minutes until we got to the window. After that, there were two sides to the buffet line and folks were just plowing through it.
-
I’m wondering who else will be indicted.
Charging Conspiracy requires more than one person.
Even with the documents issue? I have no idea who they might name. I will be glued to my TV once this is revealed.
-
Jack Smith does not play games.
He left his job as lead prosecutor of war crimes at The Hague to lead the two Trump investigations.
-
Nice talking with you, Iris. Time for me to hit the hay.
Good night.
-
Southern barbecue…yum.
-
Good night, Ron.
😴

Keith is popping corn, alas I am not up to eating any.
So Keith pops corn and Jane don’t care?
-
For example, I might choose to read the libretto of Grease.
I don’t know if any are available, I hear tell all copies are currently in use in Indiana
-
Second rehearsal was grand. Now I must get some food.
Did I tell you I met Bonnie Gordon a couple of weeks ago? She was delightful
-
Tonight Vixdad and I went to hear a talk by Eileen Collins. She was a Air Force pilot for many years and then was recruited to be a space shuttle pilot.
She was in fact the first female space shuttle pilot.
-
She was also the commander of the first space shuttle mission after the Columbia disaster.
-
She flew a total of four missions
-
She was very interesting and we bought her book, which autographed for us
-
My sinuses were driving me mad all day but then around four they started to feel better
-
So maybe it was the smoke that has been the problem
-
I’m still feeling some pressure around my eye sockets, but nothing like it was
-
Hmmm, in 54 posts I shall hit an interesting post total
-
Pat Robertson probably would have had a problem with that
-
But I care not
-
I like strawberries
Blueberries
Raspberries
Blackberries
Berry berry much
-
I like apples but can’t abide the skin
-
So I prefer my apples cooked because they go brown so quick when they’re peeled
-
I like the occasional banana
-
And peaches are lovely
-
But again I cannot abide the skin
-
Plums are nice
-
If they’re not too ripe
-
And grapes
-
Watermelon is lovely
-
But I’m not a big fan of cantaloupe or honey dew melon
-
Also if presented with them in a fruit salad I will usually eat it
-
I’m not a big fan of dried fruit
-
Cherries are nice
-
I should eat more fruit
-
I don’t eat the roll up things or the gummy things
-
All by myself
-
Don’t wanna be
-
All by myself
-
Aaaaaaannnnymmmmmmmooooooooore
-
Buenos noches
-
If they’re not too ripe
😊 I see what you did there.
-
Feel better vibes, DR VIXMOM.
Sleep well.
-
Keith is popping corn, alas I am not up to eating any.
So Keith pops corn and Jane don’t care?
Good one. 😊
-
Had a scoop of ube ice cream and a scoop of cherry lemon sorbet earlier. Very happy.
-
Busy day. Swimming. Eating. Boat trip. No time for a nap.
-
Ginger flowers

Hungry hen

There’s a waterfall in the middle. Honest.
This is the famous fern grotto where many couples get married.
-
I pulled a PR coup by convincing my kids that prunes are giant raisins. So they love ‘em.
-
Anyone else who did what he did with classified documents would already be in jail, let’s remember. No matter how he tries to deflect.
-
Sort of getting worried how little it has rained here the last month.
-
Our fire chief announced a Burn Ban starting tomorrow.
-
The chief is the de facto mayor here.
There’s only a police presence here sometimes.

I just got the call! My car is ready for me to pick up!! :D FINALLY!!
Yay! Vibes they truly fixed the problem!
Thanks, Jane! Me, too!!

I'm home.
-
The Postmodern Jukebox concert was very good!
-
I don't know how many tickets were sold, but it was a pretty darned full house.
-
During the concert, I was sitting right behind the sound board operator, and she had the set list on her board.
-
After the concert, I asked her if they keep those, and she said, "No. Do you want it?"
-
And I said, "Sure! Thanks!"
-
A few of the performers came out after the show, and before the meet-and-greet (with the donors), and I was able to get autographs from four of them!
-
And here they are:
-
I will confess that I don't know their full names...I didn't get a copy of the program that was handed out to the audience. ::)
-
Hurray for DR GEORGE's car being done!
Thanks, Jrand! I'm now heading out to get it. :)
The screen in your car is going to seem very small now ;)
Yup...and that's a good thing!
-
After having experienced both screens, I really do like the smaller screen with more physical/tactile buttons than the larger all-touch screen.
-
And after driving the Crosstrek and then getting back into my car, my car does seem a little low, but I'll get used to it again.
-
And I LOVE having my CD player again!
-
And my Impreza has more USB inputs!
-
I have four and the Crosstrek only had two. ::)
-
;D

Hi, George.

I must go back to my book. Only 90 pages left.

Page ten. Pish tosh.

Tosh pish.

New notes are up.

Up are new notes.

I've seen them.

I've read them.

I wrote them.

Hi, George.
Hello, John.

Gratuitous Post #306!!

I'd never searched The First Nudie Musical and "England" on newspapers.com - amazing what came up - the film played all over England for an entire YEAR. I thought that was pretty neat. I saved some of the adverts.
-
Then I searched Australia and it had a nice run there, too - both of those runs were in 1981.
-
Then I searched Canada and it came out there in 1977.
-
Newspapers.com doesn't have any papers from France or Japan or Italy, but I doubt the film played in any of those places. It did play in Russia or at least the video found its way over there.
-
What?
-
I don't know.
-
I'm not sure.
-
If only.

Exactly!
