Well, you've read the notes, the notes were inept and one-sided, and now it is time for you to post until the inept and one-sided cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CHIRK!
-
Welcome 227 GUESTS!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Wasn't that a book.. No-Fry Tuesdays with Morrie?
-
I slept well until around 3:00. After that, it was hit and miss. Stella came by just after my 3:00 bathroom break and didn't stay long, but Annabelle and Thatch didn't show up until around 5:00. I did have a long and very strange dream about a Fifth Avenue book shop I happened to discover while I was shopping for a birthday gift. The shop was beautiful, the books were plenty, and the staff very friendly. As I looked around for a gift - I had purchased a book somewhere that I was carrying about in a paper bag - I realized that every book in each section - fiction, humor, etc. - had something to do with horror. There was a staircase and I asked if there were more books on the second floor. There were, so I went upstairs to browse, and I got a call on my cell phone. I can't remember now who called - former DR Jose, Joshie, someone else? - I as we talked, I came to a lounge area, so I sat to continie my conversation. After that, I continued browsing, but I misplaced my bag with the book. The remainder of the dream was a frustrating search for it.

I must call Access-a-Ride for tomorrow's trips, and then it's back to the ballet. I'm turning a solo into a Charleston.

Good morning, all.
-
I'm up.
I'm awake.
First cup of coffee steaming to my right.
Congested nasal passages attempting to break up.
And "Morning Joe" (final hour) going on in the background, with Joe talking the most, and over folks, and taking too long to make a point. I like him, but he's kind of a gas bag.
-
DR John G. asked if there were any videos yet for the Kritzerland show.
Someone whose name I'm not remembering posted videos of two or three songs on Facebook. It came up in my feed but I'm not finding it at present.
-
I think I must take THE BOY FRIEND Blu-ray off the shelf and give it a good viewing and hearing.
-
I slept well.
I dreamed.
I woke up in a slight panic.
I was riding a bicycle in the mountains and found myself on a path. Suddenly, that path was alongside a sheer cliff. I decided to turn around. I came very close to going over the side when I woke up.
-
I agree about the soundtrack to "The Boy Friend". After seeing the film in theater way back when, I wanted the music. The soundtrack was fine, but not thoroughly satisfying because so much music was missing. Yes, it was mostly dance music but those were the great memories of the film.
When Warner Archives issued the film on Blu Ray, I felt my prayers had been answered. I had bought it on DVD, but the Blu Ray was thrilling.

Awful morning: vomit and worse from both the cats and me. Some days I think death would be preferable, but then I worry about the cats' care after I'm dead. Some days I truly hate my life.
-
DR Rodzinski, I had meant to post earlier how lucky you were to get a higher than quoted price for your in-laws' home. It's hard to curb my anger at my two foolish brothers, most days.
-
DR Elmore's dream takes me back to my early days of discovering the bookstores on Fifth Avenue in visits to NYC from Ohio.
Doubleday, on the east side of the Avenue in the mid-50s.
Scribner's, farther south.
Rizzoli - I'll always remember the evening I discovered that one in its first location on the west side of the Avenue. Wasn't it in an L-shape, fronting onto Fifth and whichever side street it was at? Mid- to high-50s? When I moved here and found it had moved to 57th Street I went in and enjoyed it for a while, but it wasn't the same.
Wait. Was there a second Doubleday also on Fifth, not too far from the one I'm remembering?
I seem to think there was a B. Dalton that was actually pretty good.
-
I wonder how foolish the paltry few MAGAts in Miami feel when they see their pitiful numbers outside the courthouse yesterday.
The bluster will continue, but the audience is rapidly diminishing.

To be killed today by NYC Animal control. Breaks my heart.

It's sunny and lovely now, but by noon the storm clouds (and perhaps their cantata) are supposed to be moving in and keeping us entertained till mid-evening.

One more time.

I read that Halemaumau is erupting. Hope that doesn't impact DR John G.
-
DR Rodzinski: Regarding your ponderings about what Americans might say after a series of unfortunate events, you left out one I thought was fairly common in the USA:
"What a cluster f***!"
But, maybe that's more common in the military than in civilian circles.
-
I read that Halemaumau is erupting. Hope that doesn't impact DR John G.
If it does, I hope he can hike up his muumuu and get away from it.

That silliness was simply a play on words and not intended to cast any aspersions on DRJohnG.

Oh yeah! Good one!

DR Rodzinski, I had meant to post earlier how lucky you were to get a higher than quoted price for your in-laws' home. It's hard to curb my anger at my two foolish brothers, most days.
Thank you. If in-laws had done the bare minimum of home maintenance, they could’ve really made out.

Good morning!

Wordle: 4/6
-
I just had two (2) sunny side up eggs, two (2) slices of Pepperidge Farm 15-grain toast, and two (2) (do you see a pattern forming here?) cups of coffee. Which actually makes three (3) cups altogether, since I had my usual first-thing-in-the-morning one earlier.
I'm not sure who needed to know all of this, but I think I've got it covered for whoever did.
-
Within the past few days, I have twice seen West Side Story written as Westside Story.
This was in two different places, by different people, and it seems like one of them was by someone who should without question know better. I'm sorry I left the scene of the accident without reporting these offenses to the authorities. I'll be faster on the draw next time.
Be ever vigilant, people.
-
I'll also call for backup next time.

DR George, Keith and I are glad you are feeling better.

DR Rodzinski, good vibes all goes well with the house sale.
-
I'll also call for backup next time.
Cover him; he's going in.
-
Rodzinski, you mentioned the house was a tear down. Have the potential buyers asked for any inspections?
-
There is trouble in the kitchen. We can't fry anything today.
-
Vibes for DR ELMORE.

If I did, I don't remember doing so.

We had a short power outage this morning.....so my computer started updating when I turned it back on.....and that took a LONG time.
I have reset two of the three digital clocks.
I have to get out my instructions on how to do the other one.

Sad. My father never wanted to change anything.
-
There is trouble in the kitchen. We can't fry anything today.
Oh.

My post about the bookstores on Fifth Avenue amuses me, because even though those were wonderful stores, from where I sit now it's not where I'd be spending any valuable time on a visit to NYC or any other town. I'd go in and admire them, to be sure, but then I'd be looking for where all the good secondhand bookstores are. :) That particular joy was to make itself known to me later in life.

Kitchen vibes for DR Jrand72!
And as to the electric outlet question -- I think I did that (using what, I don't recall) as a kid, and got a shock or at least a big spark that scared the holy HELL out of me. Never again.
I subsequently got a shock out of a thing or two in later years, but those were wholly unexpected. So I'm REALLY careful to avoid such surprises now.
-

Thank you. If in-laws had done the bare minimum of home maintenance, they could’ve really made out.
My mom did quite a bit on a limited income. She had the roof re-shingled and the master bath re-done. Also had the house re-carpeted.
The kitchen needs an upgrade. She wisely left if for me to do since she knew I'd be the one using it. Haven't gotten to it yet, but I have decisions to make on whether to expand kitchen into office next door.
-
DR Jrand, at first I thought you were referring to our troubles at dinner last night.
Sorry if I laughed inappropriately.
-
Oh! I remember what one of those was.
This was probably 30 or 40 years ago, in whatever apartment I was living in at the time. I had something in the toaster -- don't remember what, maybe just a too-small slice of bread -- that I couldn't reach with my fingers, and I used the butter knife to coax it out.
ZAP!
Now, it's just possible that a very slight "zap" surprised the living hell out of me, and I took it as getting a shock. I suppose one could get a shock if the knife touched the heating coils, but I'm not really sure to this day if that's what happened.
That being said ... why I thought I could/should do such a thing -- without unplugging the toaster! -- I'll never know.
-
Good morning.

Poor boy. I guess it is good you aren't fostering a calico kitten.

Did DR TCB ever travel and meet any of you?
-
I have wooden toast tongs for that very reason, DR ChasSmith.
-
I am likely who I am because of this.
We've noticed. 8)
-
DR Jrand, at first I thought you were referring to our troubles at dinner last night.
As did I.
-
Kittens in da house.
-
They are cute as buttons! Probably cuter than buttons.
-
Buttons aren't all that cute, actually, upon reflection.
-
I named Petra, Sandra named Fleance, and Grandson named Huggy Heart.
Fleance? How Shakespearean!
-
I have foster kittens again.
And here they are:
-
DR Laura, the kittens are adorable.

For Ask BK Day:
Are you able to share any details about the workshop?
Perhaps you already did, and I missed it.

Yes, that is definitely an issue, but the kitchen needs work, and I need it to be right.

Funny that Annie Golden’s name came up last night.
I watched a few musical numbers from the film version of HAIR last night, reminded of it by the untimely death of Treat Williams.
-
Had forgotten that Annie Golden played a lead role.
Laurie Beechman is also in the film, excellent as always.
Treat Williams singing “I Got Life” is wonderful.
-
Who did have the privilege of meeting DR TCB in person?
-
George of course.
-
John, I believe you did.
-
Fred.
-
Jed and Ann of course.
-
Enjoying your photos, John G.
When you tried to eat at Mama’s Fish House, did you spend any time exploring Paia?
I liked that town. It reminded me of the 60’s.
-
Vibes for Elmore and his 3 little kittens.
Hope all of you feel better soon.
-
Pleased to hear how much better you’re feeling George!
Has your mom remained Covid-free?
I was wondering if you were positive on the night you went to the casino together.
-
The soundtrack of The Boy Friend doesn't appear to be available for streaming services or on the Tube of You, sadly.
-
FOUR.
-
Sorry about your experience dining at the Thai restaurant, Jane.
Some of my favorite dishes don’t require frying….summer rolls and green papaya salad.
-
There were so many people in New York staying home last night to watch the news coverage, that several restaurants were forced to suspend delivery temporarily.
-
Good morning, all.
-
My friend who lives on the UWS tried to get dinner delivered from 4 different restaurants at 5:30PM, but received a message that delivery was not available due to current overwhelming demand.
She finally ended up with a burger from P.J. Clarke’s at 6:30PM.
-
The volcano is on a different island, far away. So no hiked muumuus for me.
-
Good morning, John!
-
John, what are your plans for today?
-
I love Paia more than Lahaina. But no walking this time. Just a drive through. It was very busy.
-
Have you been to Wailea and Lahaina this trip?
-
John, what are your plans for today?
Rest. I was too long in the car yesterday and things began to ache again.
-
The volcano is on a different island, far away. So no hiked muumuus for me.
You say that now.
Never say never.
-
Don’t know if you watched the first season of The White Lotus, but it was filmed at the Four Seasons Hotel in Wailea.
-
A trip out for shave ice. I found a place called Peace Love that has some natural flavors. Yesterday I had a fun combination of li hing (a local flavor made from sour, salted plums) and pineapple over coconut ice cream and ice. Excellent.
-

I didn’t but I know that hotel. It has a gorgeous Henry Moore sculpture in the gardens. It’s just down the street.
-
Hope you feel better later, John.
Might be a good day to try that Lomilomi massage! 😊
-
The volcano is on a different island, far away. So no hiked muumuus for me.

True.

I also want to plow more of the way into Wives and Daughters. I’m three-quarters of the way through. Big book. Heavy lifting.

I remember that sculpture and the gardens. We were staying next door at the Kea Lani, which had just opened.

That’s the place across the street, I think.

It Takes Two, according to Sondheim. 😊🎶

On my first trip to Maui, we started on the road to Hana. There was a waterfall that you could swim under, so we stopped for a dip. By the parking area there was a makeshift shave ice stand, kinda like a lemonade stand. They folks running it were only serving mango, but they made the syrup from the mangoes growing around them.
I’m told that’s extremely rare. I also know I’ve never had a shave ice that good ever again.

For John, if you’re interested.
-
I never made it to Hana.
The drive made me quite ill.
-
Had forgotten that Annie Golden played a lead role.
Laurie Beechman is also in the film, excellent as always.
Treat Williams singing “I Got Life” is wonderful.
I wish they would do a special edition DVD with the cut numbers in an appendix. I had a college friend who was a dresser on the film; "Air" was shot on the George Washington Bridge in a traffic jam, and "Frank Mills" was filmed in three different locations including the Waverly Theatre.
-

Thanks! I hope so.

I don’t think that is the only thing that makes you you.

LOL DR JANE I was referencing your post from yesterday.
My kitchen is fine. I forget that just because I JUST read a post from yesterday - it's probably been several hours since other DRs have.....
-
I put my finger in a lamp socket once.....enough for me!

Also touched an electric fence on a dare.....

DR ELMORE the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream indicates you need to narrow down your choices a bit more before you can make a final decision on a life event. Do not let anyone else's concerns sway you in a direction you know is NOT right for you.
You will NEVER have all of the facts - so you must proceed with what is RIGHT for you.

DR RON PULLIAM the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your bicycle dream indicates that you feel certain areas of your life are out of control or being guided by others.
Stay on course just as you are - there is no better road than the one you are on. The trip is as important as the destination.

And now I shall be getting ready to go to the theeder and work in the box office for this SOLD OUT performance of GREASE.
And then I shall stay and do my turn at cleaning the place.....and then I will be done with my GREASE obligations!

Pleased to hear how much better you’re feeling George!

I was wondering if you were positive on the night you went to the casino together.
She said that she hasn't experienced any symptoms. Hopefully, that doesn't mean that she's positive but asymptomatic. :-\

I'm up, I'm up - eight and a half hours of sleep.

Iris, it's a new play, kind of an absurdist comedy with some parody music. I directed the first presentation about a year and a half ago, didn't direct the second presentation because the Group Rep had some issues to work out, and then was asked to do this incarnation again and to work with the author on certain things, which I did, as all issues were worked out. The author is a novelist and wrote a very funny book called Pest Control.
-
I finished the Leaving Neverland thing last night. If you'd only seen that you'd think everything in it was real, and that, unfortunately, is a documentary made with bias and one that is completely one-sided. No one was interviewed who might have presented facts that didn't fit the director's narrative. And the director has said it out loud, that he didn't interview those people because it wasn't the story he was telling. Well, buckaroo, you should be telling a story where all sides a presented if you're making a documentary, otherwise you should go make a fictional film.
-
It's easy to Google and see all the lies and falsehoods in the documentary and once you know what those are then it's hard to take any of it seriously. And yet, almost every critic did, without even doing a modicum of research. They were called out on it and were much more careful with the Woody Allen hit-job thing on HBO. There should be a law requiring a card up front that says something like - this is a one-sided documentary with no rebuttal or interviews with anyone who might present other facts that would contradict anything presented here. Therefore, in fairness, you must take everything with a grain of salt.
-
Sorry about your experience dining at the Thai restaurant, Jane.

If only those were our favorites. We will go again next Monday or Tuesday when we can have leftovers the next day.

Rest. I was too long in the car yesterday and things began to ache again.
Sorry. Feel better.

To my surprise I survived the drive. It was very foggy, cold, and windy up there.

What a relief. I guess I didn't need to change my laughing post.

Well, our storm - for a few minutes - was noisy and flashy and wet.
Other than that, a big ol' nothingburger - with none of the predicted hail, or anything.
One nearby town did have some power outages, I'll give it that.
-
Mind you, I do not complain.
No sir. No complaints here. I'm just sayin'.
-
How are you feeling today, George?
I'm feeling pretty good...a little tired from staying up too late (but what else is new? ;) ).
-
I checked out all the new Apple stuff - sadly, no iMac 27-inch and not even an upgrade for the 24-inch. There have been rumors for three years of a new iMac, but nothing. I'm not sure who can afford the pro version, which, with monitor and even the least amount of stuff, would cost 6K. They do have the Mac studio but that hasn't even been upgraded to the latest chip.
-
And now I must be off - which I fear is the general consensus.

So, you must "remain" off?

Wednesday evening greetings! At 5:30am Richard had to wake me from a nightmare in which I was yelling “Go away!” over and over to the homeless people following me from the library to my car. He went back to sleep; I did not.

Today is granddaughter Hannah’s first birthday. Big sister Charlotte turned 3 last Friday. Big party at their house this weekend!

Sounds like fun, DR Ginny.

The party, I mean. Not the dream.

We are enveloped in a yellow fog like Manhattan was last week. Wildfires.

The book sounds hilarious, and the author is a real character.
I think Pest Control would make a good film.
-
Robert Gottlieb has died. I just watched that documentary on Robert Caro and him. He was an amazing editor.
-
I've spent four hours trying to fix problems in the parody lyrics - I'm a stickler that the parody words have to sit on the music perfectly and that you don't add extra notes because you can't figure out how to write something with the right amount of words to fit the notes you're dealing with. So, that took a while - I never changed any thoughts or intentions, just made them work with the proper number of words/notes. He's only fighting to keep one the way he has it - and that's fine, he can keep it, but it works better the way I adjusted it to fit the notes.
-
Had a sub sandwich from the local Numero Uno, one of only two left. It wasn't great but was certainly acceptable. It came with a little salad, too.

Wednesday evening greetings! At 5:30am Richard had to wake me from a nightmare in which I was yelling “Go away!” over and over to the homeless people following me from the library to my car. He went back to sleep; I did not.
Oh my! At least one of you went back to sleep.

Today is granddaughter Hannah’s first birthday. Big sister Charlotte turned 3 last Friday. Big party at their house this weekend!
Happy 3rd and 1st birthday 💜🎁🎈🎂

We are enveloped in a yellow fog like Manhattan was last week. Wildfires.
:(
-
Robert Gottlieb has died. I just watched that documentary on Robert Caro and him. He was an amazing editor.
:(
-
We found this store in Portland that sells the best flavored popcorn we have ever had.
-
The sea salt white chocolate peanut butter is incredible.
-
We can't stop eating it.
-
In honor of Flag Day downtown Bend has pretty flags flying. Along with the hanging flower baskets it looks very pretty here.
-
I always remember it is flag day as it was also my sister's birthday.
-
Tonight I had my first professional haircut since February 2020.

But what choice do you really have?
-
It's not like a building, where you can skip floor 13.
-
Tonight I had my first professional haircut since February 2020.
Wow.
-
I need a haircut but postponed it until we are done coming to Bend.
-
Here is Johannes Brahms. WIHOUT his usual beard.
-
On a beautiful day like today we are reminded of why we considered moving here.

What days are the treatments, DR Jane - Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays?

What days are the treatments, DR Jane - Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays?
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Then we go home, returning on Monday. If we were local we could go the schedule you mentioned.
-
Sheesh.
-
A grueling schedule.
-
Which unnamed persons do not care for.
I am wondering who this "unnamed person" is who isn't fond of your first professional haircut since 2020.
And may we have a photo of it, please?

DR JohnG: I did not mean that the key in the wall socket was totally responsible for who I am today, but that it set me on a course that may well have been different otherwise.
I am less trusting than I might have been, for one. And who knows what part of my brain might have been amplified because of it...or suppressed?
-
I see it is just me and 2 guests.
-
All alone to get us of this seventh page.
-
Oh, what a world!
-
I am not as adept at one-liners as some of the rest of you.
-
A grueling schedule.
As many days a week as possible to reduce the driving time.

Yes, Dr. F-Ron-kenstein.

Finished Wives and Daughters, which is more than Elizabeth Gaskell did. She died before tying ip all the loose strings. But it was quite good.
-
If I were at home, I would probably launch into something Robert Gottlieb edited or Cormac McCarthy wrote. But I am not, so I will start a Hawaiian novel called Hula.
-
We’re still on page seven.
-
Flat. No leaven.
-
Call on Sven.
-
Make him do it again.
-
Hell, not heaven.
-
That’s what is said of seven.
-
Well, don’t tell Devon.
-
He doesn’t care.
-
Eight!
-
I named Petra, Sandra named Fleance, and Grandson named Huggy Heart.
Fleance? How Shakespearean!
We experienced Drunk Shakespeare a couple weeks ago, so Macbeth was on her mind.
-
Those are some pretty kitties DR LAURA.
-
I think we need a photo of DR singdaw's professional hair style.
-
GREASE went about as expected which is the best that can be hoped for.
-
And now after cleaning the house for tonight - I am through with my obligations to this particular production.....and I shall celebrate with a nice vodka/watermelon strawberry juice cocktail.

Did you bring enough to share with everyone?? ;D

I didn't know that. I only watched the wonderful PBS series.

I bought that a while ago. Now I can watch it.

Don’t know why that doubled.

Near sunset across the street.
-
Selfie on the sand
-
Sunset
-
Sunset
Wow. That is spectacular!
-
JRand, I keep meaning to ask, what version of Grease are you doing? The original was rather R-rated in terms of language, not the bubblegum blather of the movie.
-
Sunset
Wow. That is spectacular!
Agreed!
-
Love your selfie on the sand.
You look so happy, healthy and relaxed.
I regret giving up on my dream of moving there…waited too long, unfortunately.
-
Good night, all.
Sweet dreams. 😴
-
Must write some damn notes.
-
And isn't it time we were off this damn page?
-
See?

One of my Hawaiian shirt finds at Ross. That one cost $9.
-
What?
-
Good night, Iris.
-
In addition to the sub sandwich earlier, which wasn't all that big, I had a cheeseburger, which also wasn't all that big.
-
What IS all that big is my damn stomach.
-
Must do something about that soon.
-
Very difficult at my age.

Gratuitous Post #250!

So, the commercial on now features people singing about their diabetes. The commercial before this had a woman singing about going “number 2”. I hope these tunesmiths stay away from the theater, if this is what they want people to sing about.
-
Yes, I’m old and grumpy.
-
Maybe I should sing about that.
-
To the tune of Young and Healthy:
I’m old and grumpy
And I’ve got pains
-
Are you telling me - ARE YOU TELLING ME - that George went down a damn rabbit hole just as we're approaching the midnight hour???
-
Are you TELLING ME that?
-
Yes or no?
-
No or yes?
-
Why I oughta...
-
To the moon!
-
Surely we can reach page ten.
-
Are you telling me - ARE YOU TELLING ME - that George went down a damn rabbit hole just as we're approaching the midnight hour???
No...I was taking my evening meds and performing my evening ablutions so that I would be done with those now instead of at like two in the morning. ::)
-
That is if George hadn't disappeared down a damn rabbit hole.
-
That is if George hadn't disappeared down a damn rabbit hole.
I has returned!
-
No ablutions just before midnight.
-
No damn ablutions.
-
We need an ablution solution.
-
We just do.
-
What?
-
Did someone say something?
-
Page ten.
-
So, the director of Sunday in the Park with George WAS going to direct Cabaret at the college next year in this same time slot.
-
However, the rights got pulled for some reason...I think another theater got them first. ::)
-
Cabaret holds no interest unless they do it as originally written - no movie songs, no songs cut, no BS.
-
Anyway, she's looking for suggestions on what she can direct, so I came up with ten titles to suggest.
-
There may be a tour going out, that's why the rights may have been pulled.
-
He should do The Brain from Planet X.
-
No other show will do.
-

I think that that was her interest, as well.
-
It is the ONLY show.
-
Do a classic.
-
He should do The Brain from Planet X.
I was thinking of that, but she wants a smaller cast than the 16 we had for Sunday.
-
Like The Brain from Planet X.
-
I Do! I Do! two people.
-
I Do! I Do! two people.
Too small of a cast. ;D
-
What If - a musical revue.
-
Lost and Unsung, a musical revue.
-
I also thought of Tell Me on a Sunday...only one!
-
Anyway, I was able to <ahem> procure ::) PDF copies of scripts and scores, and MP3 recordings for most of my suggestions.
-
The Fantasticks.
-
Cast of eight, I think.
-
I need a copy of a script but I haven't found it so I'm gonna have to buy it I guess.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
My first thought was Sondheim and Epstein's Saturday Night, but that has a cast of 17. I'm still going to suggest it, though.
-
I've seen them.
-
I'ver read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
NO MORE SONDHEIM!
-
The Fantasticks.
She mentioned that, but wasn't interested in it for now.
-
Gratuitous Post #301!!
-
I think we've had enough Sondheim.
