Well, you've read the notes, the notes noted Father's Day, and now it is time for you to post until the Father's Day cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: JIBE!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to fathers of all sorts.
-
Near and far.
-
Past and present.
-
Thither and hither.
-
And yon.
-
Never forget yon.
-
At your peril.

~~~SAFE & EASY TRAVEL VIBES~~~ for DR John G.
-
Thanks for sharing your adventure with us, DR Rodzinski!
-
Good morning, all.
-
I must get ready to go out and play a church service.
-
Happy Father’s Day - to BK and to all of those other fathers out there.
-
Good morning, all!
I have a new health issue: horrible pains on the right side of my abdomen, running from under my ribcage to my hip. Last night the pain was so bad I could barely stand and walk. I thought at first it was a muscle that stretches would relax. Now I'm worried that it might be kidney-related, like a kidney stone or worse since it was my right kidney that had the cancerous tumor. Ann just called to check on me. Her advice was to call 911.
-
The alarm rang at 5:10 because I forgot to turn it off yesterday, so I turned it off and went back to sleep. Then it rang at 5:40, the time I had set it for. I turned off and went back to bed. Thatch lay down beside me. When I woke, it was nearly 7:00. I had to get up and feed my three starving babies.
-
Good morning
-
Happy Fathers Day to you daddies out there
I found this photo last night, and I couldn't resist posting it.
It's at Easter in 1952, but it's Sunday...and it's Father's Day...so why not!!!
-
Pondering my situation while I cleaned the litter, I wonder if I simply pulled an abdominal muscle during the labors with my helper on Thursday. I was certainly wrestling with heavy cartons.
You may have injured your sciatic nerve. I had my experiences with that a year ago.
-
Well, holy crap. I just reordered kitty litter, Last month on May 26, it cost me $33.23; the same order today cost $44.12!
-
BK or Larry: What is the provenance of "No, My Heart"? I know the Barrett album says it's from "Hay Fever", but I can find no reference to a musical of that title in Google.
It's a favorite song of mine, and that peformance and music is astonishingly beautiful.
Feel better vibes for DR elmore!
-
Sunday....I got nothing from Elvis & Priscilla after all the goodies I give them.....
-
Nice photo DR RON PULLIAM.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Hi John, I love the beach selfie :)
-
Ron, I think that song was written for the Rosemary Harris!-led revival of Hay Fever.
-
The photo of the driftwood is beautiful.
-
Are you going surfing ;)
-
From Rodzinski:
Seaplane trip was fun. I was worried how I’d feel on the smallest plane I’ve ever been on, but it was pretty smooth flying. Great views of Vancouver and the surrounding topography.
I didn't expect it to be a smooth ride. Of course the views would be lovely. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
-
Mrs R, however, was terrified the whole time.
I feel bad for her.
-
DR Rodzinki, the family photo in front of the plane is very nice.
-
Now you mention a patch of turbulence. That is when I need a barf bag.
-
Rodzinski, I enjoyed the photo of the view from the plane.
Thank you! I must note that my wife chose the adventure herself. Not anything I would’ve thought to do. But she’s glad she went, in spite of the fright.
Photo in front of plane was taken afterwards.
Keith said he flew in a seaplane while in Vancouver on a business trip.
-
That was a long time ago.
-
Happy Father’s Day!
Great photos, Rodzinski and John G.
Adorable photo, Ron.
Elmore, I hope your pain subsides and goes away.
"Hay Fever" is a 1925 comedy by Noel Coward. In the 1985 "Hay Fever" revival, the hostess, an aging actress, accompanies herself at the piano and sings to the young man she is attracted to. The song was written for Rosemary Harris.
I believe it was written for a production of the play.
Oops, didn't see elmore's post.
Oops, didn't see elmore's post.
I was peripherally involved with that 1985 production. I got to know the producer, Roger Peters, through the Drama Book Shop, and I found his first two personal assistants. The first was Ken Mandelbaum, author of Not since Carrie. When Ken left, my college friend Matthew took his place. Roger wanted to produce Lady in the Dark with Julie Andrews, but, according to Roger, Moss Hart's son was too difficult to deal with.
Yes there are.
-
Page three??? Still???
-
I shall shortly be on my way to the theater.
-
JohnG, Larry and BK: Thanks. So, the song was the only musical element of a Coward play>
That makes a lot of sense, but I find it very odd that there aren't more vocal versions of it other than Barrett's...not that they would compare at all.
-
It has been a quiet day.
-
We had a wonderful, long video chat with Craig.
-
Bryan texted before going to sleep this morning.
-
No video chat as he is working tonight.
-
Freyja sent an email ;D
-
I suspect Bryan helped her before he went to sleep.
-
Last night we watched Three Thousand Years of Longing.
-
We enjoyed it immensely.
-
Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba's voices were beautiful together.
-
I could listen to Elba speak all day.
I saw that she won the award. Good for her.
-
Great photo of Annabelle and Stella. Daddy’s girls.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Happy Father’s Day to those dads among us.
-
Enjoyed your photos, Rodzinski. It sounds like a very memorable excursion.
-
I‘ve flown small planes like that a number of times. I didn’t like it at all! The trips from Dallas to Houston were always full of turbulence. I felt like I needed a helmet. Ugh! No lovely views, either. I can understand Mrs. R’s reaction.
-
Travel vibes to John G.
-
Elmore, are you feeling any better now? I’d guess the heavy cartons had something to do with it.
Vibes it subsides quickly.
-
A quiet day here, too. I was busy all day yesterday with household chores and don’t feel like doing much at all today.
-
I have no desire to ride in a small plane as I find them scary and figure I would throw up. A seaplane over a lovely view is tempting.
-
Twice I have taken a scenic helicopter ride. While I wasn't scared, I was sick.
-
Vibes for a good week ahead.
TTFN.
-
My uncle fell out of a helicopter — camera and all — once. I recall visiting him in the nursing home. He recovered, but it’s a memory I won’t forget.
-
Same to you DR Jeanne.
-
I am trying to stay awake.
Bye.
I coughed too much last night instead of sleeping.
Looking forward to getting back to 104-degree weather
-
We are having a lovely visit with the mother in law.
-
This little rural town has some houses festooned with flags for the former guy for 2024.
-
Ugh.
-
One more.
-
FIVE!
-
As others have commented, some great photos posted here today.
-
Cuteness abounds.
-
I'm exhausted.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And boys in black and white dress shoes and bow ties!
I can only claim to have been an innocent bystander while my mother dressed me.
-
Slow as molasses today.
-
We flew in a short helicopter ride over Atlantic City year before last on a whim, very unlike us. Was in AC to see the Monkees when there were still two left. Nesmith died not long after.
-
Apropos of nothing, here are the Four Aces singing the theme from “You Can’t Run Away From It” from the 1956 musical featuring June Allyson and Jack Lemmon. Directed by June’s husband, Dick Powell, with songs by JohnnyMercer and Gene DePaul.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D9Z_J-BcqQ0&pp=ygUdWWl1IGNhbnQgcnVuIGF3YXkgZnJvbSBpdDE5NTY%3D
The film was a musical remake of It Happened One Night.
The Four Aces sing the title song over the credits. It was their final top 40 hit, peaking at #20.
Nice.
One of the suggested videos for me after that last one was:
ASTRUD GILBERTO - THE GIRL FROM IPANEMA (1964 with Stan Getz & 1988 ZDF Jazz Club) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEDeYwZGPbQ)
-
And then, of course, I have just got to listen to Linda Lavin singing "The Boy From... (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WFC9uuHcxbA)"
;D
-
And there's also Faith Prince's version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyW2IJM_ZCY).
-
And even Peggy Lee (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-3fMuaAdIM) performed it!
-
And now for something completely different:
-
:o
-
A friend posted that on Facebook with big "Ah, No!"
-
SUPER DITTO!!
-
:P
-
Page FIVE???? Are we regressing to THAT again. No!
-
Not happening.
-
Not acceptable.
-
Not nice.
-
Not now, darling.
-
Who didn't show up today?
-
You'd think it was Father's Day or something.
-
Back from rehearsal and more in the notes.
-
I haven't even started the notes so maybe George would like to NOT go into a rabbit hole and make with the posts OR just regale us with all that he's found in the various rabbit holes that entice him.
-
I haven't even started the notes.
-
I'm still catching up on emails.
-
What up is doing on my emails is anyone's guess.
-
Well, I got us to page six and I strongly recommend we get above and beyond it, not necessarily in that order. I don't even see George here.
-
I'm here...still.
-
I've been watching videos of different versions of "The Boy From...".
-
And then, I watched some Meidas Touch (https://www.youtube.com/@MeidasTouch) videos.
-
Those are always worth watching.
-
Another YouTuber that I recently discovered is JeGaysus - THE Gay Jesus (https://www.youtube.com/@JeGaysus/featured).
-
Here's what's written in his channel's description:
I am JeGaysus, I look like Davinci's painting of white jesus, and well I am gay.
Follow along as, I teach alternate theology and ways to look at religion and non religion in new light. An inclusive place for all Queer people to feel welcomed. I am not the real Christ but my goal here is to help upend the religious trauma so many of us were brought up with. There is more to religious history and translation then they are teaching from the pulpit,
I want to inspire people to read, research, and learn on their own.
Oh yeah....and.... gAyMEN🌈
-
;D
-
And there's also Australian Emerson Brophy (https://www.youtube.com/@EmersonBrophy), about whom I posted a couple of days ago.
-
Tomorrow is Juneteenth.
-
I and the family are going to my mom's to celebrate her birthday, which was on Friday
-
I'll do another Covid test and see what it's like.
-
I'm sure I'm no longer contagious, but I'll wear a mask, just in case. ::)
-
My sister did ask me to pick up some food from Happy Teriyaki (https://happyteriyakilacey.com/) to bring to my mom's.
-
I'll do that, but she still needs to let me know what to bring for everyone.
-
I usually get the Love Salad with tofu.
-
I also get a side of their "thick sauce," which is pretty much a thick teriyaki sauce.
-
I like the tofu because when I'd order the chicken, the pieces would be too big to eat in one bite.
-
I'd always have to ask for a knife, since they never just give one out...just the fork and spoon.
-
But that just got to be tiresome, so I got the tofu since that's cut into smaller bite-sized pieces.
-
So, I'll get the food and then go to my mom's.
-
My sister got her a yard ornament of some kind for her birthday from all of us.
-
I don't know exactly what it is, but she she said that it's something like a sphere with colored glass all over it.
-
She was previously thinking about getting a birdbath, but my mom already has one.
-
I also don't know where she got this sphere.
-
But my mom likes garden and gardening stuff, so I'm sure that she'll like this.
-
I'll try to remember (a The Fantasticks reference ;) ) to take a picture.
-
And now that we're so close, here's the dreaded and completely disliked...
-
PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
-
I do not care for page seven.
-
So, let's do something about that, shall we?
-
I myself went down a little rabbit hole last night, hence why I was up so late.
-
I myself went down a little rabbit hole last night, hence why I was up so late.
Oh, so I'm not the only one!
-
I watched more Reels and Shorts - it's just amazing what things get a million views. Especially dumbfounding are an endless series of clips from movies that have a nerdy girl or boy being bullied. What's most amazing is that every one of the clips is exactly the same and it's hilarious to see them back-to-back, with only the cast changing, but all the bully beats remaining.
-
Then there's a couple called Sam and Monica - he's a Brit, she's not - they're married and I think they're trying to do a sitcom comprised of two-minute videos but after you've seen ten they too are all the same. But they're both kind of charming so it's not horrible. Then there are the pranking videos, which I find awful.
-
Get me off this damn page.
-
It's a long road to page eight.
-
A loooong and winding road.
-
And yet, we cannot get stuck in the muck.
-
And mire.
-
We just can't.
-
To be stuck in the muck and mire is unseemly.
-
And you have shower afterwards.
-
What?
-
I can't hear you.
-
What I really dislike about them are that they have a part of a story, and then when you go to the actual channel, not only can you not (always) find the full length video that supposedly has the whole story, you can't even find the short video that you were just watching. :o WTH??
-
Did you say something, George?
-
Don't mumble.
-
Sing out, Louise.
-
Don't go breaking my heart.
-
Gratuitous Post #202!!
-
Don't make waves.
-
Don't go near the water.
-
Everybody says don't.
-
Don't blame me.
-
Don't go breaking my heart.
I remember that song from when I was young. I really liked it...and still do. :)
Everybody says don't.
That's a great song, too!
-
One more post...
-
Don't is short for - donut.
-
Page eight.
-
Finally.
-
It took a bit of effort.
-
eight ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Good!
-
They contain certain information.
-
Can't wait to read them!
-
I've heard that Donald Trump has printed copies of all these here notes in boxes and shows them to everyone - despite their top secret marking.
-
True story.
-
I've heard that Donald Trump has printed copies of all these here notes in boxes and shows them to everyone - despite their top secret marking.
Cool! :D
-
The story goes on.
-
And on.
-
And on.
-
And on.
-
The story goes on.
And another really good song.
-
The story on page one.
-
This story is true - only the names and places have been changed to protect the national security.
-
What?
-
I'm not sure I heard that right.
-
This story is true - only the names and places have been changed to protect the national security.
You do whatcha gotta do.
-
Soon, I promise.
-
I'm not sure I heard that right.
What did you hear??
-
Soon, I won't shy away.
-
We're almost to Page Nine!
-
PAGE NINE DANCE!!
-
Now, as the sweet imbecilities tumble so lavishly onto her lap.
-
Later, when is later.
-
Send in the clowns.
-
Page nine is fine.
