Well, you've read the notes, the notes were otherwise-wise wise-wise, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home, home-wise.
-
And the word of the day is: CRAIC!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Insomnia.
-
The Length of Long Island should be the title of something-or-other.
-
Glad you had a good final performance, BK.
-
I would have been here sooner, but I got in the wrong line.
-
I hope everybody has the same reaction to our play as DR VIXMOM did.
We are doing the two-storey two act version.
-
I am up this early because I am taking my brother to his.....well....procedure.
-
Congrats to MR BK & his company.
-
I shall return.
-
I have missed all the TCM brouhaha so I will have to catch up on that later.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Jesus H Christ, do I need a new computer! This one is working my last nerve.
-
I have nothing else to report, so I am going to reboot this mother.
-
:)
-
Good morning, all.
-
I like mac and cheese most anyway you prepare it. There’s a barbecue joint here that mixes in burnt ends (the crusty part of smoked brisket) that’s delicious.
I’m just not sure about asparagus in mac and cheese. Or kale.
-
Body still adjusting to the time change.

An NPR tribute to Robert Gottlieb includes several interviews he gave over the years. The best is one that also includes Robert Kimball on lyrics. It’s toward the end.

The last line also mentions Topsy II.

Rebooting the mother vibes for DR Elmore.
-
The computer is running(?), no freezes so far!, kitty cleanup is finished, the bed is made, and Ann has dropped off their key for the mailbox. She and Jen are off to various exzcursions, and I am taking care of their mail. I now wait for Access-a-Ride.
-
That mac and cheese with burnt ends sounds like the greatest.
Otherwise-wise, I go for the multi-cheese varieties these days. But as long as it isn't too milky/runny, I'm happy with whatever kind of cheese is used.
Always loved it when my mother made it, and her unique thing back in the day was adding small slices or dices of canned tomatoes to it. In fact, I never knew it any other way until I left home. I do need to make it that way sometime to see what it tastes like to me now.
-
We had to relent and turn the heat on for a little while last night, and again this morning.
This cold June crap is getting old. I don't like extreme heat, but let's have some decent summer weather for more than one or two days at a time.
-
Morning.
Gray day, thus far.
Having coffee.
Listening to Andrew Rannells and Josh Gad talking to Mika about the upcoming Broadway musical "Guteberg" on "Morning Joe."
They were having way too much fun for this time of day. Have only been up 15 minutes and am still groggy.

Gutenburg - as in The Bible?
-
TOD:
I like to make Mac & Cheese with some good Velveeta and I also add bacon bits.
-
DR George: Yes, those CostCo self-check lines are great, until you get behind someone who has scanned a cartload of goods and then finds his CostCo card has expired!!!
-
Gutenburg - as in The Bible?
As in the man who printed it, yes.
-
Good morning!

Wordle: 4/6

I saw “Gutenberg!” like 15 years ago somewhere downtown. Was fun, but I never thought it would resurface. (Assuming this is the same show.)
-
Bruce, congratulations on you excellent evening.

On the road heading home.
-
We will need to make a few stops on the way.
-
Thursday afternoon greetings! We were supposed to be on our way today to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, for our niece Lauren’s wedding tomorrow. However, Richard’s stomach misbehaved last night and we decided to stay home just in time for me to cancel the hotel reservation. He’s somewhat better today, but I think we made the right decision.
-
I am sorry you are going to miss the wedding.
-
Feel better vibes for Richard.
-
Our first stop, filling the gas tank.
-
I have that Gutenberg recording. Somewhere
If I recall that was Christopher Fitzgerald’s big break. Friend of Elmore’s.
-
Vibes for DH Richard!
-
He wasn’t officiating, was he?
-
He wasn’t officiating, was he?
LOL, no. He walked her down the aisle for her first wedding in place of his late older brother. This time her 8-year-old son has that honor.
-
2 hours and 45 minutes to our next stop.
-
I had a great morning. Access-a-Ride arrived 30 minutes early, and I was both surprised and unprepared. By the time I got in the car, it was the time he was due: 9:45. It took 15 minutes to get to East 95th Street, so I arrived at my appointment an hour earlier than scheduled. I was seen almost immediately. So, I saw Dr Saltzman, the gastroenterologist, answered all her questions, told her the reasons I was seeing her, and when I shut up, she said "You had a stomach virus." She wants me to have a couple of tests, and that was it. I liked her very much.
-
Good morning.
-
When I left the office, it was fifteen minutes before my scheduled appointment time, meaning I had 75 minutes before Access-a-Ride was scheduled to pick me up. I called them and fifteen minutes later, a car arrived and took me to Staples, where I scanned two scores. I was home by 11:30.
-
They found a debris field, so I guess that's that.
-
I got home, sent the scans to Dougm watched my soap, and played a bit with Stella. So far, it's been a good day.
-
They found a debris field, so I guess that's that.
I believe we will learn more at 3:00 EDT.
-

:(
-
It is what Keith suspected.
-
At least they went fast :(
-
I hope they at least got to see the Titanic before disaster struck.
-
I agree.
-
I like my mack and cheese.
-
I don't make it very often as it isn't very healthy.
-
It has sour cream.
-
I use Colby Jack cheese as I don't care for a strong cheddar flavor.
-
I liked the Mac and cheese at Fog City Diner in San Francisco.
-
Has anyone eaten at Fog City Diner?
-
Feel better vibes for Richard.
~~~DITTO!!~~~
Ditto!
I just saw that. :(
-
Those poor people! What a horrible way to die.
-
Thank you, all, for the vibes for Richard. He felt well enough to carry in the groceries I just picked up from Kroger.
-
Has anyone eaten at Fog City Diner?
My mother and I went there with my friend Doug when we were in San Francisco for ALA in 1987.
Hi, George.
-
Hello, 0 guests!
-
George Takei is coming to town. But tickets haven’t sold well.
-
I was supposed to usher, but they asked all but 25 to give up their position. So I did.
-
What a glorious Thursday afternoon in June: It has been raining buckets. And the air smells so incredibly fresh and clean! It reminded me of storms we used to have when i lived upstate. It would be hot as blazes in the summer, and then the blue skies would darken with clouds and a tremendous rainfall would ensue. Afterward, the skies cleared and the world seemed fresh and new.
-
I had a marvelous nap, too. And dreamed a dream that reminded me of another dream I had YEARS ago. What I best remember is that the dream location was an amalgam of Johnston and Aaron's Creek VA (where my dad's family lived and where he and my mom lived for a few years until they moved here).
Don't recall any other particulars, but i really enjoyed knowing the locale.
-
I have also managed to watch two films today:
One was "The Celluloid Closet" which aired on TCM last night.
The other is "The Runaway Bus", a 1954 British film starring Frankie Howerd, Margaret Rutherford and Petula Clark. It's a comedy about British fog halting air flights at Heathrow in London, a bus used to transport passengers to remote airports where the fog wasnt bad, and a heist of gold bullion from the airport using the "boot" of that bus to hold it.
It's a bit of fun.
-
I also managed to defrost some spaghetti Bolognese meat sauce and had a wonderful plate of spaghetti for my lunch.
Today has been good to me.
And the rain is still pouring down.
-
Waiting to see a doctor about my neck and shoulder.
All I remember about the Fog City Diner is that their turtle sundae wasn’t nearly as good as the one at Graeter’s in Cincinnati.
-
Aahhh, Graeter's.
I never had that. We went a few times when we lived in Tiburon which is just over the Golden Gate Bridge.
Jane, you can skip this post.
On the ride home, I got a Dr Pepper milkshake from Whataburger. Delish.
-
So, the doctor is pleased most of the pain is gone. I can cautiously return to dancing.
-
But I apparently have bad arthritis in my neck.
-
It doesn’t work the same way that arthritis in the hands. I just have to stay on top of it.
I book was fantastic. I passed on the movie as I did not want to watch the elephant be abused, even if it was fake.
LOL. I think Keith would enjoy the idea of that.
-
So, the doctor is pleased most of the pain is gone. I can cautiously return to dancing.
Good. Was he able to diagnose the cause of the pain?
-
But I apparently have bad arthritis in my neck.
Scratch my last question. Then this might happen again :(
-
It doesn’t work the same way that arthritis in the hands. I just have to stay on top of it.
What does that involve?
-
Nothing. Just be careful. No bungee jumping. No whiplash. No sudden jerks to look behind me or reach for something in the back seat.
-
I’m thinking of watching Encounters at the End of the World, Werner Herzog’s documentary about Antarctica. Perfect for 106-degree weather.
-
I shall now be on my way to dine and see a show.
-
Has anyone else had trouble with this site today?
Not yet, although I often cannot get a complete connection in the evenings.
-
Nothing. Just be careful. No bungee jumping. No whiplash. No sudden jerks to look behind me or reach for something in the back seat.
I guess those carefree, devil-may-care slam-dancing days are behind you now?
-
I have a peach pie in the oven.
And there is a half-gallon of Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream in the freezer.
The day's end will be really fine!
Cool! I knew that they had filmed them, and put them on YouTube in the four sections, but I didn't know that they had been combined into one film. :)
-
I think DR RON PULLIAM and DR ELMORE tied for best day today.
That peach pie and vanilla ice cream was pure-tee HEAVEN. It was all I could do to avoid eating a second piece.
-
Do you want to hoe potatoes?
Why do I imagine a bottle of sloe gin being quickly depleted?
-
I think I finished season 1 of "Beyond Paradise". There are only six episodes, and I don't believe there will be more until Season 2.
That said, I went to "Death in Paradise" and started with Season 3, which is where DI Humphrey Goodman joined the cast...in episode 1, no less.
Have watched two of those episodes and they are very good, indeed. I love it when I discover that a show I have been avoiding on PBS for many years is really worthy of my time and interest.
-
Good night, all.
I just came across this YouTube video from CBC News (https://www.youtube.com/@CBCNews):
Titanic tourist submersible destroyed: How it happened (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzBwQiMydfY)
Wreckage from the missing Titan submersible has been found near the site of the Titanic. All those who were on board are lost at sea. Andrew Chang explains what happened and how the Titan was destroyed.
-
It's a very thoughtful, respectful, not sensational explanation of what most likely happened.
-
"I have a peach pie in the oven." Is that a euphemism?
-
Back from dinner and then seeing Transparent, the musical based on the TV show. More about that in the notes.
-
After the show, we chatted with Liz Larsen, who all but walks away with the show.
-
Get me off this damn page.
Not to get political, but I'm watching this video from The Meidas Touch (https://www.youtube.com/@MeidasTouch):
Tomorrow night, I'll be playing our regular Friday night Phase 10 games at my mom's house.
That will be fun...as usual.
-
I'll also have lunch at my usual Friday place, Eagan's.
That's always been good...for me.
-
I've had lunch with friends who've felt like their food wasn't as good as it should've been.
-
Gratuitous Post #250!!
I think I just get my usual Deluxe Cheeseburger and it's pretty hard to mess that up.
-
Well, it can be messed up, but it's pretty rare for that to happen. ;)
I think someone on one of the Broadway or cast albums FB group mentioned this, but is anyone listening to the Giants in the Sky podcast?
https://broadwaypodcastnetwork.com/podcast/giants-in-the-sky/
-
It's also available here:
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/giants-in-the-sky/id1654851929
-
Here's the description:
This is an unparalleled look behind the scenes and between the lines of the landmark musical Into the Woods. Ben Rimalower produces and hosts candid conversations with the original stars and creatives of Into the Woods offering their unique perspectives on the development process of its iconic original production. Guests include writer-director director James Lapine, dramaturg Ira Weitzman, and original stars Chip Zien and Joanna Gleason.
-
I haven't listened to many, yet, but I learned two very interesting (to me) bits of tid about Into the Woods.
-
One is that Christine Estabrook read the part of the Baker's Wife for the first reading at Playwrights Horizons and "how strange it was to be a non-singer starring in a new musical."
-
If I remember her episode, they weren't concerned at that first reading that she couldn't sing, because Stephen Sondheim was performing all the songs...they just wanted someone who was a good actor to act the script.
-
That makes sense. :)
-
We all know that Kim Crosby and Robert Westenberg met during the show, fell in love and got married...they're still married and have had three kids!
-
They mention in their episode that they were both with other people when they first met.
-
I don't think they left their significant others to be with each other, because...
-
The other real interesting thing that I learned is that Christine Estabrook and Robert Westenberg used to be married! :o
-
She talked about how she had done that original reading but that Robert wasn't involved in the show until the Broadway production, so they never worked together...they both were involved in the show, but at different times.
-
Who knew??
-
I then looked up both Christine Estabrook and Robert Westenberg and no where (at least, where I looked) did it mention that they had been married to each other...not on IBDB, nor IMDb.
-
Huh. :-\
-
Christine Estabrook's episode was the shortest so far (only 14 or 15 minutes, depending on which podcast provider you get it from...different ads mean different times).
-
But there were a lot of "I don't remember"s in both podcasts. ;D
-
PAGE TEN GIANTS IN THE SKY PODCAST DANCE!!
-
I don't know how many episodes there will be, but there are 13, so far.
-
It's funny (strange) but episode 11 from June 7, 2023 is Joanna Merlin and John Lyons, then episode 12 from June 14, 2023 is Jeff Blumenkrantz, and then episode 11 (again??) from June 21, 2023 is Kim Crosby and Robert Westenberg.
-
It's been more than two days and this hasn't been corrected. ::)
-
I wonder if it will be...or if they won't fix it until the next episode.
-
I guess I'll find out eventually.
-
I don't think it's been mentioned here, yet, but they've announced that:
Queen Latifah and Billy Crystal are among the 2023 Kennedy Center honorees (https://www.npr.org/2023/06/22/1183483424/2023-kennedy-center-honors)
-
The award for lifetime artistic achievement will recognize actor and comedian Billy Crystal; celebrated soprano Renée Fleming; singer-songwriter and Bee Gees band member Barry Gibb; actress, singer and rapper Queen Latifah; and singer Dionne Warwick.
-
Carol Channing was never honored by the Kennedy Center.
-
Neither have The Manhattan Transfer...yet. :)
-
There's still hope for them!
-
Once again, no Liza - ridiculous.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
And now they can be read.
