Well, you've read the notes, the notes cracked, and now it is time for you to post until the cracked cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LAMBENT!
-
Oh, and it must be noted that yesterday we hit a grand total of 1.5 million postings! We have now gone over that number.
-
Sorry, BK. I fell asleep. ::) It happens.
-
Today, the family is getting together at my sister's house for some of her vegetarian enchiladas. They're really good. After dining and probably some Phase 10 (or maybe Scrabble) playing, my sister wants to reset the foam pad on top of the chicken shelter because it's slipping off. That'll take some time. :P
-
And now, for some real sleep.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning.
-
my sister wants to reset the foam pad on top of the chicken shelter because it's slipping off.
So her chickens can say, with some veracity, that the sky is falling.
-
Good morning
-
I planned to sleep until 7 then get up and get ready for my busy day
-
But of course I woke up at 615 and try as I might I could not get back to sleep
-
I still have to make a macaroni salad and pickup a cookie platter at 8 am
-
Then I can head over to church and make sure we’re all set for today
-
Guess I’ll wOrdle

DR vixmom - I am in amazement.
-
Perhaps you should add "hand-letter each place setting in calligraphy" to your list of to-do's.
-
~~~LUNCHEON VIBES~~~ for DR vixmom!!!!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I'm very sleepy this morning. I could use some of DR vixmom's energy.
-
DR George, I am so happy you made it to DR TCB's memorial. I miss him so much, and I'm happy you were there to represent the HHW contingent.
-
I have many friends out today celebrating NYC gay pride and the march. I will be working on a ballet score.
-
I have lost my prescription for my glasses. I can't think where I've put it.
-
After 30 minutes of search, I found it. Respiro!
-
Notes reviewed. Documented.
-
Glad you found the prescription, Elmore!
-
This is the film on which George’s favorite card game is based.
-
As a child, I watched that movie in its network TV airing, and it completely freaked me out.
I never wanna hear
Listening to Terry Trotter's Michel Legrand album.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Like Vixmom, I awoke early and can’t get back to sleep. It’s already too warm.
-
I ad libbed "Cheese and crackers" when the floor dropped at rehearsals and the director said I can keep it in.
-
Today is the family reunion.
Of course the cousin who created the Facebook group has gone off the rails.....she wanted everyone to list what food they were bringing and just a few folks commented.
So she then said Okay - everyone bring their own picnic lunch....and we'll have a church service and big prayer before hand.....
I said.....come on, Pam! Although I was thinking something else. I wrote it's a pitch in or what's the point? No reply.
Of course there are many different religious organizations represented in our family - so I guess everyone will get a turn.
And it's raining. So that's perfect.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Oh my, DR Jrand72.
Sounds…..um, fine. What could be better? :)
Will you be packing a flask?
-
Looks like we’re in for a bout of warm-ish humid sometimes-rainy weather. Yuck.
-
By this evening it should be time to begin running a little A/C.
-
(How little IS it?? - I hear you asking.)
-
In other news, I had a big running around day yesterday, and I’m beat.
-
I have never been to a chiropractor.
-
In case anyone was wondering.
But now you know.
Wasn't that a teevee show... When Families Go Wrong?
~~~VIBES OF FORTITUDE~~~ for DR Jrand72!

If there's not enough food for the potluck, I hear DR vixmom is puttin' on a spread.

Happy Sunday! There's a new Broadway Radio Show...Broadway performer Matthew Scott joins me to chat about his new album The Jesus Year: A Letter From My Dad. It's a fascinating story and a terrific album. Check it out:

Hello, Sunday! It's everyone today!
Wait!
Reverse that!
Hello, everyone! It's Sunday!
-
I awakened a couple of times during the night. Each time, I very groggily thought it was a weekend day but nothing specific. Didn't matter. I lost no sleep over it. Just dropped back off.
-
True DR singdaw.....I wonder what time DR VIXMOM wants us there?
-
This gal really knows how to celebrate Pride!
-
Nothing of note has happened since my last post of last night.
I am looking forward to today's Zoom chat with my fellow film music lovers. I presume we will discuss film music during the course of our chat. We have all gotten so familiar with one another that we discuss other issues. And we discuss nonsensical things, as well. But mostly sensical things, I guess.
One of our members is a musician (composer/conductor) with the Joffrey Ballet. He used to coordinate music for the Jimmy Awards. The Jimmy Awards are a national celebration of outstanding student achievement in high school musical theatre. They are presented by The Broadway League Foundation and recognize individual artistry in vocal, dance, and acting performance. The winners and nominees are selected from regional competitions across the country and perform on a Broadway stage. The awards are named after the late Broadway producer James M. Nederlander.
He has a love of film music,but enriches our chats with tales of the ballet doings. Composer Thomas Newman wrote a piece for the Joffrey over the last year and this guy worked on it. His name is Michael Moricz.
-
Good morning!

Wordle: 5/6
-
Thanks for your report on TCB's memorial service, DR George.
-
Michael's last association with the Jimmys was during the pandemic. It was a weird setup and it challenged Michael into a near frenzy. Everything was done via Zoom, and Michael had to get performances by combining Zoomed material. It worked out, but it was way more work than it should have been. Happily, it did not compete with his Joffrey work because the ballet was on hiatus.
Everyone remembers the pandemic, don't they? It truly changed the world.
-
The beauty of this day is streaming through my windows as I type. Of course, I am very cool and comfy at my laptop, but it's already 80 degrees outside, and it generally gets much warmer in the afternoon, which is several hours away.
-
Speaking of things streaming...
-
We have streamed into Page 3.
-
I have heard of the Jimmy Awards but I do not know anyone who has participated.
-
I am taking my camera so when Cousin Pam gets up to lead us prayer I can get a picture of her face when I ask: "Where's your head covering, sister?"
-
I don't know if this was mentioned here or not, but authorities have found remains in the San Bernardino mountains that they think "may" be those of actor Julian Sands, who has been missing since January.
-
I liked Julian Sands so much when I first saw him in "A Room With A View". I thought, at that time, that he would have a much bigger career than he had, but he did fine work in many films anyway.
-
When I think of "A Room With A View", I have a strong memory of being amazed at the performance of Daniel Day-Lewis as Cecil Vyse. I had seen him in only one other film: "My Beautiful Launderette".
I think I must have categorized him, mentally, as a strong character actor, but I had no idea how much he would impress me in his future film projects. I think he is astonishingly gifted.
-
I see we have two guests (count 'em, 2).
I wonder if they will crash JRand's family reunion? Will Cousin Pam be amused?
Likely not.
-
I am very grateful that my previous post, #66, was not my 6th post on this page.
Don't need the evil karma.
-
DR Ron - when we met for lunch, I didn't know what you looked like.
So i was standing outside in the street at the appointed place and time. When anyone slowed down or seemed to be approaching me, I said: "Ron? RON?"
I got some very strange looks.
-
But I am used to such things.
-
Resigned, really.
-
Because I am somewhat strange.
-
And like attracts like, they say.
-
If you dropped a box of crackers, would you have cracked crackers?
-
Try saying THAT ten times fast!
-
I am on my way to the family reunion/rumble.
Pray for Rosemary's Baby.

DR Ron - when we met for lunch, I didn't know what you looked like.
So i was standing outside in the street at the appointed place and time. When anyone slowed down or seemed to be approaching me, I said: "Ron? RON?"
I got some very strange looks.
I guess that is why I didn't have to ask everyone if they were "David". You were there asking everyone else if they were me. I guess i could have said "No" and kept going. But, you looked so friendly and interesting I just had to say "Yes." Plus, I had seen photos you had posted of yourself and knew your face. I didn't reallze how tall you would be, though.
-
I don't recall if I knew what Rodzinski looked like when i first met him or not. I was expecting him at my work site (I think).
I wish I could have spent more than just a lunch time with him. I would like to have shown him some of the East Bay.
-
I also had the pleasure of meeting and supping with former DR JoseSPiano and Monkey. That was when he was in San Francisco while "Lestat" was being performed. He was going to meet with the conductor and was associated with it when it went to Broadway.
(What a disappointing show that was for me, although it had some amazing high points).
-
DR George, thanks for the detail on the HHW photos.
-
I am glad it was a nice tribute.
-
I have not eaten at David's Deli on Geary Street.
-
When we lived in Tiburon we rarely went into the city.
-
DR George, Sharry had asked if I wanted something. I declined but suggested you might. I am glad she found just the right keepsakes for you.
-
I was tempted to ask for a small Titanic keepsake. If only I wasn't trying to downsize.

Beans and veggies and (real) cheese and some other stuff. I don't think she has an actual recipe, so they're always a little different, but have always been good.

My packages were all there. back in a corner by the stairs, and someone kindly brought up a huge Chewy.com carton for me and left it close to my door. I am very grateful for that. On a negative side, since the US postal service has lost three packages of mine in the past four months, there are three cartons for 208 and 212 West 82nd Street sitting in the lobby of our building, 202 west 82nd Street. This is ridiculous.

Ron, glad to know another among us who loved A Room with a View. So many other fresh faces in that film. I think it was the first time I recall Helena Bonham Carter and Rupert Graves as well as Simon Callow, all balanced with Maggie Smith, Judi Dench and Denholm Elliott. I remember the joy I found at the theater that day. And it was just about the same on second viewing in the theater.
-
While it is very sad about Julian Sands, I keep wondering WHY he went hiking that day. I read on the news not to go. Did he miss the news or think where he was going it would be ok :-\

An actor named Arthur Hughes is playing Richard III in this Royal Shakespeare Company production I’m watching. He’s excellent. He’s also physically disabled.
The whole production is electrifying. The seduction of Queen Anne hits with both comedy and shock.

DR Ron, thank you for writing about The Jimmy Awards, also referred to as The Tony Awards for teenagers.
They will be streaming live from New York tomorrow night at 7:30 PM EDT
-
The Jimmy Awards has their own YouTube channel.
Have watched many of their videos over the years.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahwchQKxUvk
This is Anna Zavelson, a finalist in last year’s ceremony, and currently performing the role of Clara in the Encores! production of The Light In The Piazza. What a voice! Listening to her sing reminds me of the first time that I heard Lea Salonga sing…gave me chills.

The selected high school students, 96 this year, come from all over the country.

Did you miss the rain at the reunion?
-
I remember tornadoes when we lived in Michigan.
-
We never had a direct hit though the siren went off once.
-
The high school kids couldn't leave school, of course backing up the release time of the rest of the classes waiting for the school buses.
-
That was the only time the kids, except for drills, had to line up in the hallways to wait it out.
-
Missed the rain.....still sunny when I came home at 2 p.m.
DR IRIS I just heard the warning siren and the wind is much stronger.....but I think the path is north of me.

The women in this are surprising. They bring the horror.
The Richard is more charismatic and attractively evil, kinda like some people think Trump is. To be honest, I have never found Trump anything but sleazy, fake and evil.
-
I never understood the fascination with Trump, or why he got so much attention and was a guest on tv shows.
Yup, sleazy, fake, evil, and creepy.

The air quality here is horrendous today. It's crazy how much it can change in one day. Yesterday I was outside watching my niece's soccer game. Today I watered my flowers for 5 minutes and my throat and eyes were killing. Apparently the air quality today is so bad that it's listed as #1 of all cities in the world.

That was written on 2017. I wonder if it should be updated in light of recent political developments.

Jane, I thought the article was very illuminating in terms of the psychological aspects of his success.
I don’t find him charismatic at all, but he could be very charming in his younger years.
I suppose many of his followers still find him charming.
-
Good news, my contractor neighbor stopped by to grab some extra door hinges. I asked him to help me get the bicycle out from under my house. We were able to do it.
Very good news, Rodzinski!
-
Nice pic.
Agreed!
-
George, the article was written during his campaign and updated in 2017 as an attempt to explain his unlikely victory and incomprehensible appeal.
Of course, we now know how that turned out. ☹️
-
DR George I'm so glad that you were able to go to the memorial. It must have been such an emotional service.
Thanks, Jennifer. It was. :)
-
Rain would be welcome.
It would be nice around here, too!
Lots of rain here…will try to send some your way! 😊
-
Is that John LaTouche?
No, Leonard Bernstein wrote the lyrics for "I am easily assimilated."
-
Lillian Hellman wrote the lyrics for "Eldorado."
-
Dorothy Parker wrote "The Venice Gavotte." A lot of her material was for the cut Eldorado-Holy Child genocide sequence.
-
I, too, fell in love with "A Room With a View" when I first saw it.
-
Jane, I thought the article was very illuminating in terms of the psychological aspects of his success.
I don’t find him charismatic at all, but he could be very charming in his younger years.
I suppose many of his followers still find him charming.
I guess he was charming in his younger years, before he became a public figure-lol
-
Yes, the psychological aspects of his success was illuminating.
-
Glad to see the bicycle photo! Very nice.
-
I have a very unpopular opinion about the 2016 election.....so I will just keep it to myself and we'll all move on.
-
It is a nice warm night here now.....83 degrees.....
-
Tomorrow night we do ACT ONE.
-
Studying my lines....working on the troublesome section - that gave me trouble on Thursday night....but it's only a couple of pages....so hopefully I can conquer those tonight.
-
~~~LINES VIBES~~~ for DR Jrand72!!!!!!
-
Thanks for the information, DR elmore3003.
-
Why do people settle for semifreddo when they can have real freddo?
-
Saw the matinee - Morning's at Seven - I like the play very much - and then I stopped at Gelson's and got two hamburger patties, lettuce, tomato - came home and made two burgers on my sesame burger buns - very good.
-
That does sound good!
-
I have a very unpopular opinion about the 2016 election.....so I will just keep it to myself and we'll all move on.
;D
-
I haven't had a real burger in ages.
-
Of course now I am very curious about that opinion ;)
-
I haven't had a real burger in ages.
Ages, as in years and years?
-
Well... probably a year, at least.
-
DR Jane took us to NINE.
-
I should have done a dance.
-
And that be fine.
-
I think that's it for me for tonight.
-
Better late than never ;)
-
Good night, friends.
Back from dinner with friends. Tex-Mex.
https://tasty.co/recipe/in-n-out-copycat-sauce
For BK and anyone else interested, here is a copycat recipe for In-N-Out sauce.
Have not tried it myself.
-
Heard of a documentary to be on PBS called Casa Susanna. It’s set in Greene County, NY, which is where I used to live. It’s about a resort for cross dressers and trans people in an age less accepting of them than today.
-
Back from dinner with friends. Tex-Mex.
Tex-Mex. Yum.
What did you order, John?
-
The first time I had Tex-Mex was in San Antonio , probably around 1980-1982.
Spoiled me forever.
-
Rain would be welcome.
It would be nice around here, too!
Lots of rain here…will try to send some your way! 😊
Thanks, Iris! We'll take it!
-
~~~LINES VIBES~~~ for DR Jrand72!!!!!!
~~~SUPER DITTO!!~~~
Of course now I am very curious about that opinion ;)
As am I!
I've never had an In-N-Out burger, so I wouldn't know how it compares...but as a fry/burger sauce, it does sound good.
-
Iris, I had enchiladas verdes with rice and refrieds. Pure comfort.
-
The Lost King wasn’t Frears’s best movie. But I enjoy underdog tales. Sally Hawkins is great. The score is superb.
-
Am caught up.
Nothing much to day. Day was fine. Zoom chat was invigorating and covered a lot of things, including film music, much to my delight!!
DR singdaw may recall that he and I went through Gump's department store. And we also hit the Disney Store, IIRC.
-
My eyes are getting very heavy.
-
I am falling deeper and deeper into a state of calm.
-
This is where the hypnotist would tell me to close my eyes.
-
And then, the hypnotist will tell me that on the count of three, I will open my eyes and recall everything I had for dinner on March 16, 2011.
-
He counts to three, I open my eyes.
-
I remember eating at Maly's Donut Shop where I had a wonderful dish of beef and peppers over rice.
-
Towards the end of The Lost King, the camera rests on a face in passing for a noticeable second too long. Turns out that woman is the real Phillipa Langley, whose story this. She was in the one 3-minute extra.
-
He then tells me that when he claps his hands, I will be on page 10.
He claps his hands
-
Page 10
-
And now I am sleepy for real, and I will retire.
No one need count to any number.
And anyone who claps his hands to wake me up will be bitch-slapped 'til hell won't have him.
-
Starting a movie called Love Letters with Joseph Cotten and Jennifer Jones. Ayn Rand wrote the screenplay. The film is supposedly a restoration. But it’s not a good one.
-
No bitch-slapping, Ron. Sweet dreams.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
An unproductive weekend. I need a few more days.
-
Vibes to DF Carol.
-
I am very tired.
Good night.
-
Good night, all.
-
Page ten, eh?
-
Et tu, page ten?
-
Guess I should write some damn notes.
-
And hopefully George is not asleep and will not go down a damn rabbit hole.
-
And hopefully George is not asleep and will not go down a damn rabbit hole.
Well, a minor rabbit hole. ;)
-
Today at my sister's, after playing Phase 10 (I forget who won...it wasn't me), we put up a new canopy that my sister's boyfriend got for their chapter of PFLAG (http://pflag-olympia.org/).
-
Next Saturday is Olympia's annual Pride Festival (https://www.experienceolympia.com/events/2023-capital-city-pride/), and PFLAG will have a booth.
-
But, of course, they want some protection from the sun (and rain, if necessary), so they have (and every other organization has) a canopy.
-
We wanted to make sure that everything was there and no parts were missing, and that my sister and her boyfriend new how to set it all up.
-
And here it is:
-
This one has a few options that their previous canopy didn't, like hard plastic hoops to hang things from, and the actual canopy attaches to the frame (and is easily removeable).
-
Still page ten after all these years?
-
How can that be?
-
What?
-
I can't hear you.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
Also, the company that makes these can also make banners that are made to be attached to these canopies, AND it came with a 50% off coupon for said banner!
-
And now they can be read.
-
Finally.
-
PAGE ELEVEN DANCE!!
-
About time.
-
Time about.
-
And?
-
Is there nothing else that can be said?
-
Is there nothing else that can be said?
RASPBERRIES!!
